GH4 .mp4 footage not opening in Speedgrade CC 2014

Question

Having a problem with importing .mp4 files into speedgrade that were captured with the panasonic gh4. I can playback these files in premiere pro and quicktime but am getting this error:
Have looked on the internet for any solutions, could not find any similar problems.

Thanks for the complete answer ... wow, thanks! A person wouldn't believe how often a complete listing of things like this would help solve issues right off the bat. Instead of having to coax things out of people only to find that if they'd been complete at the beginning, they'd have had an immediate answer. For one thing, it's quite clear you do have the latest pair of builds. That is a frequent issue ... one's more updated than the other and that's taken 5 posts at times to get an answer on. Now ... this one could take a bit more. Still, because of this answer we can move on.
Your machine should handle Sg decently ... a lot of laptops that can do PrPro choke on Sg, because of the difference in the way the two program's coding & effects utilize resources. Yours *should* be doing ok. So I'm gong to try to get as many possible issues addressed as fast as possible ... some things I can help with, but the technical issues on OS and some computer resource issues need a staffer with the actual technical knowledge/database to answer. Hopefully if I can't we'll establish enough of a "base" here for Fran Roig Dennis Weinmann or Kevin-Monahan to jump in on. That error message sometimes tells them something directly, which is great. Sometimes ... the messages are a generic one. I don't have a "key" for them.
So here's a few more questions. There have been issues with some "dots" of Yosemite working poorly or spottily with various Adobe apps. Do you use any Adobe apps besides PrPro & Sg? If so, how are they doing? Have you had any issues with OS/Sg/PrPro complications before?
Is everything on one drive, programs, system, footage, the whole shebang? If so, how much free space do you have on the drive, and how much available for cache/previews & such? There is a TON of read/write going on within Sg on a sustained basis, and it can overload a lot of desktops. Do you have a Thunderbolt external connection? Footage is really about the easiest thing to move to an external drive IF one has eSATA or Thunderbolt connections, as it's mostly a "read" situation. Some computers can even handle an external USB3 connection for footage decently ... but never project files, cache, database, those sorts of things that are always read/write. If you can move something to a second drive, it might help in general ... and perhaps even this in particular.
Next ... workflow questions. Mp4's are typically pretty simple to work with ... thankfully not the many "moving parts" of AVCHD/MXF codecs. I assume you simply copy from your SD card to a drive in your laptop ... do you use any 3rd party ingesting program? Are there any plugins that you have for PrPro or Sg? Are you renaming the files as part of moving them? Is there anything different in the treatment of these than your mov files for example? Have you taken a "test" file and renamed the extension to mov? Silly as it sounds, there's been threads of people with issues with these that found they just re-id'd them as the "other" type file and the things "read" properly. Really weird, but worth a try.
And of course ... this is a PrPro project in Direct Link ("Send directly to Adobe Sg") sent over from PrPro to Sg, is assumed. Although one can open a PrPro project file by the File-Open commands in Sg also.
