Ghost email account can't be deleted???

Just migrated from a Time Machine Back (computer stolen)  to a new Machine with Mavericks installed.  There is an email account from .mac days that I would like to delete but I get an error saying that there a missing UID and to go to System Preferences to Accounts.  This account does not exist there?   In the luser/library/mail/ folder I have the V2 folder with no mention of this account but there is a " Lost and Found " folder where this account shows up.  If I delete this it just returns when Mail is started.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in earlier versions there is only one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

    My new contractor email account can send email but cannot receive. GIT had identified the problem "Mail record not created in LDAP" but it has been more than a week and still no fix.

    Hi James,
    Contractors by default are not provided email access. Your manager needs to request for a mail record from APS. If your manager had already requested for a mail record, then you need to raise a service request with helpdesk.

    I've recently installed Adobe CS5.5 Web Premium and, while the software works properly, it has completely deleted my MS Outlook email account and all of my work emails. Does anyone know why this has happened and whether I can restore my deleted Outlook account?

    To start with, you're asking in the wrong forum. I'd suggest that you ask in the Creative Suite forum.
    Second, when you post it there, you should describe your operating system version.
    However, I'd say that it's just about impossible that installing the Creative Suite could delete an email account.

    Before anyone here cuts and pastes the usual response:
    "Messaging> Options> Settings> E-mail>  highlight the account you want to delete, then Options> Delete"
    Don't bother, this does not work for me and does not apply to my problem. When I click "Messaging> Options> " I get the following menu choices:
    Open
    Change Menu View
    Move
    Move to folder
    Download applications
    Check memory
    Help (<-- this is the biggest joke I've ever seen)
    Exit
    Notice anything missing here? Right, THERE IS NO "Settings" menu option.
    Let's say we click on Messaging>Messages>Options, well, NOW there's a "Settings" menu.
    click on that, and guess what? NO EMAIL MENU OPTION!

    Text message
    Multimedia message
    Mail for Exchange
    Service Message
    Other
    (none of these are helpful, btw)
    SO without further adieu, here's what happened to me.
    I created an account as follows: Messaging>Messages>Set-Up Email> enter account/server info
    this creates some **bleep** step-child email routine that is not really Xpress Mail, not really Exchange. If I knew what it was, maybe I could delete it.
    Now, whenever I click on Messaging>Messages I get the following:
    Inbox
    $*%&$* email account that I can't delete
    Mail for Exchange
    (?) <Big **bleep** question mark with a circle around it>
                   <Random blank line, sometimes 3 or 4 blank lines, depends on the mood of                                 phone>
    Instant Messaging
    My folders
    ... etc
    If I click on the $*%&$* email button (just below Inbox, listed above), it opens the account and asks me if I want to connect to my mailbox.
    I click no, because I'm not feeling very charitable.
    I then click Options>Email Settings and get the following choices:
    Connection Settings
    User Settings
    Retrieval Settings
    Automatic Retrieval
    within these menus I can tweak my username, password, incoming mail server, blah blah blah. What I CAN'T do is DELETE THE FREAKING ACCOUNT.
    Really, all I want to do is delete that account. It is causing me so much headache.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm begging. please help.

    I would push a little harder on AT&T because the E71x is specially branded to them. To me, it sounds rediculous if tech support isn't able to figure out there own AT&T Xpressmail, they have to do better than that.

    I got an email from my network required update password. I've entered her email address and password repeatedly and received the following message: 
    Invalid email address or password. Please verify your email address and password. The information you provided is incorrect. If the error persists contact hotmail.com (your email provider). Please try again. 
    Now I tried this more than 10 times from the blackberry email wizard and from my computer and still received the same messages. Also tried to change new password and set up again However still the same. I have 3 hotmail accounts, another 2 work well except my main email. (all of them are my personal email)
    Anyone can help?? Have no idea what wrong with my bb or hotmail. I went to Optus today, one of a staff said Sorry i can't help u as i have no idea about blackberry!!!! please help me.

    By the way, my guy feeling is this is/was a MSN/Hotmail/Livemail server issue, as only those accounts were affected. Others such as Yahoo, gmail, etc., were not.

    I am on Iphone 5 running IOS7.
    My Google apps Business account (email and calendar, set up as Exchange using m.google.com as server) refused to download new email this morning, so out of despair I decided to delete it
    Note my regular gmail account still downloaded and downloads fine.
    I cannot complete the deletion: the spinning wheel stays on until I reset the iphone, and the account remains visible, but with no updates/downloads of emails.I made sure to reset, play with restriction on/off, break out of all applets, to no avail. Multiple attempts so far to no avail.

    No, you'll have to select them all one by one. Select the Edit icon in the top right side, select as many as you can, then hit "delete".
    In you case it would be better to remove the mail account, delete all the mails on the server, using the PC,  then add your mail account back to the iPad.

  • Deleting an email account on iPhone without deleting all the contacts?

    I currently have an email on my phone that is no longer a functioning email that I have access to. I have a problem..... ALL my contacts are synced to the email..... If I delete the email all of my contacts delete. I have tried multiple programs to move them but none of them work. Also they will not backup to iCloud I have tried multiple times.... Help!

    The phone has the latest version of ios7. Unfortunately tge mail accounts which are from the carriers have no delet button in the settings.

    Cant say the exact amount but my iphone handles 6 various accounts with no problems. Understand if you have all them accounts checking email every 15 mins then it will drain a large amount of battery. you can get around this by mail forwarding to just one account it will save battery trust me. All the large email account providers Gmail, Hotmail etc all have this feature now available.
