Ghost Files and Small Screen

Hello there!
I have two simple/silly questions, but they have been bugging me, and I just can't stand it anymore! I have a new Dell computer (bought this last September). Here are more curiosities:
1) Suddenly about a month ago "Ghost Files" started appearing in my documentes and USB drive files. I say "Ghost" because they are pale, and then the title of the document is the title of a document I actually have, but these "Ghost Documents" start with ~$ and then the original title. I want to just get rid of them all, but I am not sure why they are there. Could you help me? Also, suddenly appeared these "TMP files" that read on the title "~WRL0001.tmp" When I try to get rid of these, a box comes up warning me that if I get rid of it, Windows or another program might never work again. Help?
2) I don't know what I did with my mouse (or the touch-sensitive pad on a labtop), but suddenly everything is very small. As I type this, I can barely see the letters. He he. I went to screen resolution and changed the viewing to medium so I could see better, and it enlarged some parts of my computer, but then everything online is still really tiny. How do I change it back to how it was before?
Thank you so much for your help! Have a nice day!

1. Those are temp filed created by the applications that you're using. Usually Word does this.
2. Press the Control key, while holding it, press the zero key.

Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

my account is active and paying per month for Acrobat Pro. Why I cannot open files and the screen asks for serial number?

I don't work for Adobe but it seems to me you might be signing in to Acrobat with the wrong Adobe ID.
Check the Adobe ID you use in Acrobat.
Check this Adobe ID on Adobe's to make sure that it has an active subscription.

  • HELP! Ghost files and empty Applications directory

Just to set the stage of the issue, here's a what little background I have....
Im a long-time MacOSX user, and requested a Mac when starting my new job.  I started today and was given a hand-me-down Aluminum 27" iMac, running 10.6.8.  After some minor cleanup of someones old documents I started working, soon I stumbled into the "Home" directory and found the directory like this screen cap...
    http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad355/KeyMedia/fileissues.jpg
Greyed out, ghosted files!?  From my first impression, it look like something I could just hopefully trash and move along, but it wasn't.  The "Move to Trash" progress bar/dialog box, got stuck.  I then went into "Force Quit" and re-launched the Finder.  After seeing that the files didn't make it to the trash, I tried it again with the same results.  THEN, I started digging around the home folder directories, and discovered that only 2 of the many applications that were already installed, populated in the "Applications" folder within the home directory!?  I had previously launched several apps before hand from the "stacks" folder that was already in the dock, as well as selecting the Applications shortcut in the sidebar of the finder, which populated all the apps!?  Seemed very strange and something I have never run across.  And just FYI, there is only one user account on the iMac.
A couple more qwirky things that happened through the course of the workday, was when trying to save to the "Desktop", made those files (.PDF & .RTF) invisible.  When I say invisible, I could not find those files anywhere on my system visually, but when going back into text-edit and doing a "Save-As" back to the desktop, the were visible on the Desktop, but only in the Save Dialog Box?!  After that finding I rebooted my Mac and after reboot, The files automatically appreared on the desktop, and didn't have that problem anymore today.
One more little thing....After the final reboot, a "ds.store" file appeared on my desktop?!  I haven't trashed that file, which it probably will not let me.  If im halfway correct, the "ds.store" files are normally placed within folders and directories to keep the MacOS file structure in place, and possiblly if deleted that it will get regenerated upon reboot, but again never tried to move this particular file fromt he desktop.
Looks to me like some preferences, or ds.store files got out of place and the file structure for the OS is out of place and isn't staying clean, but that is a big guess.
If anyone has any insight into these issues, what me be causing it, or what can fix it...I would greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks in Advance my fellow mac users!!

    1. Open the Script Editor or AppleScript Editor in one of the subfolders of Applications and run the following:
    tell application "Finder" to quit
if (do shell script "defaults read com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles") is "1" then
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 0"
    else
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1"
    end if
    delay 2
    tell application "Finder" to run
    2. Most of your applications are in the Applications folder at the top level of the drive, not the one in the home folder.

  • Photoshop CC and Audition CC is not compatible with the high resolution and small screen that my computer have.

Hello everyone. Recently I bought the New Razer Blade (2014). It has a high resolution of 3200 x 1800 and a screen size of 14 inch. It is that I downloaded the Photoshop CC that I realize that the words are so small it is actually causing a problem for the users. I searched online for helps and learned that the only way to change this is to wait for the developers of the Photoshop CC to make and update to make it compatible. The source of this idea is from a guy have the same computer and the same problem. He updated his Lightroom and the interface ungraded into one that he can use with ease and he hopes that the Adobe company will update Photoshop CC also and fix the resolution problem too. I thought that after another update, Photoshop CC will have it visual update too. However, the last update from a few days ago didn't solve this problem. I wonder if The Adobe company knows about this problem and that's the main reason I'm starting a discussion on this topic. The same goes to the Audition CC and the Premiere Pro CC. These 3 are the most important tools for my and this computer is the only good one that I can have right now. I have tried lowering my resolution but everything else became difficult to use. If I'm using the Photoshop CC, I of course wouldn't want to use a resolution that is too low to edit my pictures.
This is my problem and I wish someone can do something about the visual updates of Photoshop, Audition, and Premiere Pro so that they are compatible with the New Razer Blade (2014) 14 inch screen. Just like Lightroom.

    Hi,
The video features for Windows 32 bit systems are no longer supported starting with Photoshop CC (14.0).
    Sorry,
    steve

  • Use SkyDrive to upload collected files and post screen shot/picture. (Updated: 1/16/2012)

To help community members troubleshoot issues efficiently, sometimes we need to collect related files (such as Event logs, Network traces, Setup
log files, Screenshots, etc.) to perform a specific analysis.
We can simply use SkyDrive, which is a free storage on Windows Live, it’s easy to store and share your files and photos with almost anyone. To make the
steps clear, I would like to share the detailed steps for:
    1. How to use  SkyDrive to upload collected files?
    2. How to post screenshots or other pictures in forum threads?
    1.
    How to use
    SkyDrive to upload collected files?
    1)
    Open the
     SkyDrive site.
    2)
    In the
Sign In page, if you own a Windows Live ID, please type your Windows Live ID and Password to sign in; Otherwise, you may click Sign Up to register a new one. See the following screen shot.
    3)
After signing in Windows Live, click Create folder.
    4)     Name
the folder and edit permissions to share with relevant person.
    Important Note: You
can share the folder with Everyone if there is no private/sensitive information (such as the screen shot of a prompt error message). To so so, simply select the "Everyone (Public)" option in the "Share with" box. Please refer to the following screen shot:
However, for private information that you do NOT want to be accessed by everyone, it is recommended to share with specified individuals. To do so, you can expand the "Share with" box, choose the "Select people..." option, and then type their
Live IDs in the Individual box. Please refer to the screen shot below:
    5)
Drag the previously collected files directly to the Skydrive folder. For example:
    6)
    Click Upload.
    7)
Click on the uploaded files and tell us the URL.
    2.
How to post screenshots or other pictures in forum threads?
(This section updated on 1/16/2012 to reflect changes in Skydrive. Thanks to
Jeeped on the Microsoft Answers forums)
    1)   Please
use the above method to upload the picture files in advance. Then, in your Skydrive space, Right Click the picture and select
View Original. Press Ctrl + A, or Right Click and select Copy, to select it.
    2)
Press Ctrl + C to copy this picture.
    3)
Navigate to your post textbox, and press Ctrl + V, or Right Click and select Paste, to paste the picture there.
Then, the picture will be successfully inserted in that thread.

  • C4795 Printer Won't Turn Off And Small Screen Is Frozen

My HP Photosmart C4795 printer that I purchased Sunday, April 10th is having an issue where once I turn it on, I cannot turn it off. The small screen has the HP logo on it and a little bar on it that doesn't seem to fill up; it just seems to shimmer if that makes sense. Since the menu on the built-in screen is inaccessible, I cannot copy anything as well.
My Service ID number is 20101 and it is connected using the USB cable.
Could someone please let me know what I can do?
I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the software to no avail. Thank you for your time.

Same issue, printer goes into la-la land when attempting to shutdown. I've downloaded the Firmware update dated Feb 2011 which is supposed to fix communication issues. I've connected the printer back via USB and it's still not responsive. I've uninstalled/reinstalled a few times. All I see in these forums is people stating the same issue over and over, but no solution. Here I am adding to the clutter. I know I'm out of warranty, so I gues I get what I pay for, but I do know I've worked with a DELL and a LEXMARK printer and the only reason I had to replace, was because they died of old age or had a close encounter with the tile floor after an exhuberant New Yea's Eve party.  I've tried the Diagnostic Utility - taht was a waste of time. it's a diagnostic utility but it asks YOU if everything is ok. If you answer know, it directs you to the support site and forums. Does anyone know if there is some hard-reset function? I'ts Superbowl Sunday, and I'm feeling like kicking a field goal except the football has an HP logo and a paper tray...

  • My iPhone lost all files and the screen won't turn on

I was using my iphone not suddenly all filies have been removed and the screen won't turn on and the phone is charged

How do you know all files have been removed if the screen won't turn on?
You can try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

  • Freezing video and small screen

Hi there! I am a beginner at editing and with using Premiere (I am using the cs4 version) right now... I have used a Canon 7d camera to shoot the video... I have already added my clips to the timeline. When they were in the Source (clip) screen I could see all the clips well, the entire image was visible and it wasn't freezing. However, as I added the videos and audios to the timeline and I want to playback the sequence on the screen on the right I cannot figure out how to make the video stop freezing from frame to frame and I also don't know why the image shown is only a small fraction of the actual frame (even though it is set on the Fit option). This problem does not occur on the source monitor screen...
When I imported the clips in the beginning of the editing process I was using cs3 and the freezing problem did not occur, only the small frame situation...
Hope you can help me... I'm sorry if I may have said any terms incorrectly, but, as I said, this is all new to me and I am trying to learn by myself!

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to PrPro.
As the Canon footage is pretty heavily-compressed H.264, let's start with the full specs. of your computer. This ARTICLE will give you tips, and then some.
Also, here is an ARTICLE with some links that might be useful for that footage.
    Good luck,

  • Dmp files and blue screen

I recently began experiencing blue screens on my laptop computer after I tried to upgrade to Windows 8.1, unsuccessfully at first. Truncating the issues occurring, I had to do a system restore, refresh, and another system restore, and eventually upgraded
to 8.1. After the first restore, I incurred blue screens when I tried to use a dial-up USB modem to log on to the Internet. It took over 3 months to identify the source. As it turned out, the culprit was my Internet Security Provider which had been upgraded
to the 2014 version from the 2013 version. 4 other drivers were being blamed as the culprit. Eventually, the Internet security provider took remote access on my computer and corrected their issue - which took over 2 hours, corrections to regedit, DOS, and
    reinstallation.
That being said, before I knew this, my Windows 7 desktop computer(dial up modem - internal) was upgraded from 2013 version to 2014 (Trend Micro). I think I got a minidump about that time. Windows 7 does not announce the blue screen event
the same way Windows 8 or 8.1 does. I again experienced another blue screen day before yesterday, and a minidump file was created and a temp file. Sometimes my desktop has frozen without creating a miniedump file, so I need to restart. I again suspect the
culprit might be the Internet Security provider.
I have a link but am not being allowed to submit it until my account can be verified for some reason.
I am hoping I did the upload correctly and that you might be able to identify the source of my Windows 7 blue screen.  This is the first time I have ever used Sky Drive (now One Drive).  I haven't yet been able to figure out how to read the
    files myself.
     Thank you.

If you are being told you cant post a link, or embed a picture (or any other restriction) you just need to post to this thread saying your account has not been validated

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
We prefer at least 2 DMP files to spot trends and confirm the cause.
Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here

  • Video_TS files and grey screen

So i have an original copy of a movie and i wanted to copy the TS files to my HD. So i grab the video ts folder and drop it in the maxtor. Now when i go to play the movie through the ts folder option w/ the dvd player i get a grey screen everytime telling me to shutdown my computer. When i put the original dvd in the tray and play it direct from the optical drive it plays fine.
I tried another experiment too, i left the movie in the tray and chose to open the movie through the ts file option from the ts files in the maxtor hd not the original movie ... still plays fine.
So now when i take the movie out of the optical tray and play the movie directly from the ts files it gives me a grey screen again
    Why is this ?
Did permissions repair a couple times and no luck
    any help would be great

Vince, you are not able to take TS files out of a movie and play them like that.
If you are dealing with Commercial DVD Movie.
There are specific methods of copying this type of media, It takes a minimum of 2 pieces of software using a Mac.
It can be done with 1 using a PC.
The reason it will play for you is because your player is allowed to read the Encryption, and Security enhancements on commercial DVD's
So in a nutshell you have to Rip the movie, and then you can move the movie folder to your Maxtor, I doubt you can play it like that.
Here is the info you need.

  • Quicktime movie - publishes a ghost file, placing on the page

    I have two questions.
    First - the ghost file
I dragged a Quicktime movie file to a page and then published to a folder. I realised that I had attached a 27Mb file instead of a smaller file (750k) that I had meant to. I deleted the large file (select/delete) and dragged the new file on to the page and published to a new folder. However the large file keeps publishing even though I thought I had deleted it. I always end up with the large file and small file in the published folder. How can I stop this happening?
Secondly - placing on a page
The QT movie has an area above the control bar for a graphic which I didn't fill. How can I accurately place the QT file on the page so I can line it up with text - the graphic box seems to stop text flowing around it or placing it where I want it.
    Thanks

I suspect your ISP is serving you an older "cached" file instead of the new "fresh" one. More common overseas than here in the U.S. and some ISP's are worse than others.
Try "refreshing" the page (Command-R in your browser) to see if it now finds the new page.
If that fails (and it may because these ISP's are so aggressive about caching) try adding a question mark (?) to the end of the address in your browser:
    apple.com becomes apple.com?

  • Jar file and Hot Folders

I a trying to create a holt folder where I can execute the following command against a 100 files and output "screen output" to a file. However, when I run this unix comman on the list of files, only the first one is processed? "java -jar epubcheck-0.9.2.jar *.epub"
Is there something wroing with the jar file? do I need to create a for loop? do I need to create a Java program and include this JAR file as a library?
    Any suggestions.

    Welcome to the Sun forums.

Since the web is one heck of a big place, it pays to narrow down exactly what you are referring to by URL.
    >
Is there something wroing with the jar file? do I need to create a for loop? do I need to create a Java program and include this JAR file as a library?>Well since it is a 3rd party tool (that I had never heard of before today) it might be best to take it up with the 3rd party. These forums are not designed or intended to provide support for 3rd party APIs.
OTOH, surf on over to the [manual (AKA TFM) for this tool|http://code.google.com/p/epubcheck/wiki/Running] and the documentation strongly suggests it was only intended for one file at a time.
If that is that case, you might call the Jar using Runtime.exec() in a loop of your own Java code.
Your other idea of loading the class directly in your Java code, and proceeding from there is a better one strategically. But unfortunately that tool's homepage mentions the documentation is 'comging soon', and that presumably includes the JavaDocs.

  • When I open a document from any of my files, it only opens in a small screen and I can't make the screen bigger.

Hello!  I'm hoping someone can help me with a recent problem on my MacBook Pro.  When I try to open a document from one of my files, it only seems to open in a small screen and I can't seem to make that screen any bigger to work on it.  Has this happened to anyone else before?  Thank you for your answer in advance!

Oh, I wanted to add that trying to drag the little diagonal lines to the right of the page doesn't seem to work.

  • My Bridge update 5.2.0.4 has wrecked previews for all DNG files. They appear only sideways and small and I can't open Camera Raw in Bridge. Anyone else have the same problem?

    I updated Bridge yesterday. CS6 5.2.0.4. Mac OS 10.9.5
Now all previews (DNG files) in Bridge appear sideways and only small thumbnail size.
Also Camera Raw has been disabled.
I have tried purging cache for the folders as well as purging entire cache.
I have also spent over an hour on the phone to tech support which mainly involved being switched between departments and trying to understand anyone on the phone.
    Can anyone help?

Your Performance preferences screen capture reveals you have a single hard drive with little available space to accommodate both the Photoshop scratch file and the swap files of the OS.
It's obvious that Bridge finds itself at times with insufficient space to build its cache.
However, it's unclear why that should affect only DNG files and not other type of image files.  Puzzling, unless the DNG files are the only large image files you have.
Parts of the following may illustrate what happens when the scratch file is on your boot drive:
The rule of thumb I follow to figure out scratch space says to figure on 50 to 100 times the size of your largest file ever multiplied by the number of files you have open.  I have seen the scratch file exceed 800 GB once, an admittedly rare occurrence, but it often exceeds 200 GB when stitching large panoramas and the like.
As an example—and stressing that I'm aware that others have even more scratch space than I do—I keep two dedicated, physically separate hard drives as my primary and secondary Photoshop scratch disks and a lot of GB free on my boot drive for the OS.  I also have 16 GB of RAM installed.
Additionally, if you only have a single HD, i.e. your boot drive, you'd need it to be large enough to accommodate both the swap files of the OS as well as Photoshop's scratch.
