Ghost icons present

Front row -> movies ->
I have about 8 references to Cascada -- some music vids. These files do not appear to be on my hard drive any more, but front row sees them: no video either. I am wondering if it is picking up on . files anywhere. I disconnected the network shares that had these files and they still show up.
Any ideas -- this one is frustrating.

Are they in iTunes? Front Row looks in two places for movies, your user's "Movies" folder and inside iTunes. If they're no longer on your computer, you may need to remove them from iTunes.

Ghost Icons on desktop after attempt to move them into a folder

I was trying to clean up my desktop so I highlighted a few files and tried dragging them into one folder. After this happened the icons that were highlighted remained on my desktop, completely grayed out with no way of clicking on it or moving it. when I checked the folder that was supposed to contain the files they were all there but the ghost icons remain on my desktop with no way of accessing them. Restarting will usually take care of the problem but I want to know if anyone can tell me why this is happening in the first place?
Heres some details of my laptop

Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR34
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)

Got to your Desktop folder in the Finder sidebar, command i will open the info pane.
What are your permissions here? Unlock the pad lock and Change to read write.

Help! Icon present after update to iOS6.1

Hi guys,
After I made the update on my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1 it seems that some times i have the connected icon present (like in the picture attached). I've checked everithing and it also appears when no app is active (I close them all) and also the bluetooth is turnned off and even some times it appears.
Any ideeas?

At least I identified the icon, this is the icon, but the problem is that it appears near the volume even when I don't have no application open...
And also I'm not connected with my iPhone to any WIFI and not even with 3G on...

Ghost icons of imported videos are driving me crazy

Hi all,
I searched and searched but I don't think anyone has my problem. I imported a bunch of videos from a trip via the Apple Camera Adapter, and the videos were on my iPad and consuming about 20GB. I tried to clean them, but they don't exactly go away. They become these ghost icons on my iPad and viewed from iPhoto. Deleting videos were often crashing iPhoto and the deleted ones were coming back to life, but after many tries I think they are just now ghost icons and are staying dead.
I just want to know how to eliminate them for good. I am running iOS 7.1.
Here are the screen shots I took. First I deleted a bunch, notice that iPhoto actually skips files when I tried to delete
Then some of the videos actually came back! Crazy huh? (Both screen shots were at the top of scrolling)
I finally got them all. Now they won't go away.
When I tried to tap one of them, it will give me the following error message.

Ghost icon deletion problem

I have iphone 4 running ios 7.1.2.Recently i got the usual app update of angry birds:star wars.As the automatic app update was getting downloaded,i deleted the app.It was then when things got weird.After successfully deleting the app,another angry bird icon appeared on my home screen showing the loading blue round circle.
I pressed the loading icon to turn it into "waiting",then pressed and hold the app icon to make it wiggle and clicked on x.That is when the things got weird.I couldn't delete the ghost icon and it is still on my home screen.i took the following steps to make the ghost icon disappear but none of them worked.
1.I re-downloaded the app from app store but instead got two app icons on my home screen.The clickable and working app icon and the ghost icon.I deleted the original app again and tried to delete the ghost icon by hold n press icon and clicking on x.But no luck.
2.I once again downloaded the original app and tried this method of going to settings-general-usage and waited for apps to populate and clicked on angry birds app and pressed delete app.The original app icon disappeared from home screen but ghost icon is still there.
3. Long pressed both home button and sleep button to reset the phone.When phone restarted the bloody icon was still there.
4. Signed out of app store and tried deleting the ghost icon but no luck there.
5. I even reset the network settings.
Please help me to delete this ghost icon

why would you delete the app when doing the update? its automatically updating the app thats on the home screen
as for deleting it try opening settings > general > usage, choose angry birds from the list and then choose "delete app"
if that doesnt work you could also try resetting your home screen layout, i do suggest a backup before doing this. settings > general > reset, choose "reset home screen layout"

A thermocouple is a voltage generating device. The temperature at the hot junction of the thermocouple is calculated as Temperature(TC voltage difference) - Temperature(cold junction). If currents flow through the TC wires, due to ground potential differences between the motor frame and the computer ground for example, the voltage drop from Ohm's law is added to the TC voltage and will produce temperature errors. TC wire may have significantly higher resistance than wires used for most elelctrical signals so the interfering signal may be greater than the desired signal.

Ghost icons/files on Mac HD

A few months ago I noticed the appearance of "ghost" icons, feint, marked "cores, bin, var, tmp, math_kernel, net alias", etc. What do they indicate? How can I delete them?

Ghost of Presentation Displays on Second Slide

I'm not sure how to accurately describe what I'm experiencing, but I'll give it a try. On certain PowerPoints, when I publish them using Presenter and then play them, a ghost or flicker of the entire presentation plays rapidly when I advance to the second slide. I have the presentation set to advance by user. I've played around with slide times - anywhere from 1 second to 10 seconds. I've even tried putting a blank slide in the position of the second slide, but this keeps happening. This doesn't happen on most presentations - just two so far. Has anyone else encountered this?

The only way I was able to solve the problem was by changing the transparency of my background back to 0% and applying it to all.
I wanted a background that looked faded, so I ended up using Photoshop to create a lighter background and set it to a Transparency of 0% to simulate the effect. This seemed to solve the problem.

Installer icon present on desktop of macbook pro

Hi,
When i start up my 2010 Macbook Pro an installer disk appears on my desktop asking for my computer admin details. I know it is not genuine so have not put in my details but i was wondering how to remove it. I have tried dragging into the trash but it reappears each time i restart the computer.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those.
After removing the malware, remember to reset your home page in all the web browsers affected, if it was changed.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked.

Ghost Icons on the Screen

TOUCHSMART 610 - w/ Windows Home 7.
When opening a document, the menu choice (ie: "Move Here" "Open", etc) imprints on the screen. It remains frozen in place, cannot be deleted, only disappears after rebooting the system. Then, any similar action creates the same problem. Any ideas?

Hi KFBKB,
When did this first occur? Did you install any third party software immediately prior to this symptom?
You are having some type of problem with a right-click menu context handler in Windows Explorer.
Can you refresh the desktop and clear the ghost menu item when this happens?
Try using a Microsoft System Restore point created prior to the onset of this issue.

Lion gives ghost icons on startup

Since upgrading to lion, any icons on the desktop appear transparent at startup. They are surrounded by a dashed line and the label below is proprely written out. Only by clicking and dragging the icon a little will it revert to the normal appearance of a folder, document etc. Only the icon for the hard drive appears normally. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Latest iPhone 3GS Glitch: New Apps, Ghost Icon/Wrong

I've been having a few issues since the new 3+ OS launch. Here's the latest:
Now for some reason when I download new apps, the icon turns into a grayed out version of apps I used to have. ***?? Does this happen to you?

Here is what I've tried:
1. rebooting the phone
2. deleting app, redownloading and installing....works until I reboot the phone.
3. Reboot, remove app, reboot, redownload/install app (worked once)
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this without restoring the phone YET AGAIN...

I had this problem and today applied the new 3.1 update and my icons were fixed. Apparently this was a bug that got fixed in this latest software release.
By the way, part of the application changes include being able to rearrange the icons using iTunes instead of having to do it on the phone. It is much easier and works great.
