  • How to create an S/MIME message in Windows Phone 8?

    Hi!
    I am communicating with a backend that requires me to create on the Phone a message that follows the S/MIME standard. I have stored a public key in the IsolatedStorage on the phone, but I am not sure how to build the S/MIME message since there doesn't seem
    to exist any support for this in Phone 8 .NET framework.
    Does anyone have suggestions on how to accomplish this? There seems to be very little X509 support in Phone 8. I have talked to a fellow developer that did the Android app, and they used Bouncy Castle SMIME libraries (javamail) but these have not been ported
    to the C# version of Bouncy Castle.
    Any ideas? I have never built an S/MIME message before, but as far as I can tell it is a simple header-body design where the body can have a nested structure, and the body can also be encrypted.
    I ahve checked the
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netfxnetcom/thread/74e4711e-1f66-43a7-9e3b-bc9cfbcd1b73/ post, and they use cms classes that doesn't exist in Phone 8... :(
    best regards
    /S
    Henrik

    If you want S/MIME support on Windows Phone, take a look at MimeKit (https://github.com/jstedfast/MimeKit) and MailKit (https://github.com/jstedfast/MailKit).
    MimeKit is a very fast and robust MIME parser implementation written in C# that uses BouncyCastle for the low-level cryptography and supports both S/MIME v3.2 and PGP.
    MailKit builds on top of MimeKit to add SMTP, POP3, and IMAP support.
    Both projects are completely open source and free for commercial use.

  • Submit: Great Skype for Windows Phone ideas

    We have just launched a new Windows Phone idea board to let you all share and exchange your ideas on how to improve and develop Skype for Windows Phone.
    Before you start sharing your ideas, here are some guidelines to help you get started:
    Idea Submission Guidelines
    Search before posting. Do a quick search and make sure you are not submitting a duplicate. If the idea already exists show your support by giving kudos to the original idea rather than watering down the potential impact across multiple submissions.
    Draft your idea. Be as clear as possible, tell us what your idea is, how it would benefit users and why you think we should consider it. That will not only help us to better understand what you want, but we may even be able to solve your problem more quickly another way. Please avoid text speak and keep the idea short and to the point. Ideas are available within a limited number of topic sections of the community as they are not discussion threads.
    Currently you can choose one of the following topic labels for your ideas:
    Video Messaging
    We‘ve just launched Video Messaging on Windows Phone so you can now send video messages to family and friends, even when they’re not online. Let us know what you think of Video Messaging on Windows Phone and any ideas you have for how we can make it better.
    Phone Integration
    Tell us how you would like Skype to be integrated with Windows Phone. Would things be easier if Skype was better integrated with the People Hub? Integrated into the messaging app? Or in the dial pad?
    Contacts
    How can we make it easier for you to find friends and family on Skype and add them as a contact? What are your thoughts on how contacts are managed on Skype for Windows Phone? Do you have any recommended improvements?
    Calling
    Tell us how you would like Skype to be integrated with Windows Phone. Would things be easier if Skype was better integrated with the People Hub? Integrated into the messaging app? Or in the dial pad?
    Instant Messaging
    Video calling is one of Skype’s most popular features. What do/don’t you like about Video calling on Skype for Windows Phone and do you have any ideas for how we can make video calling even better?
    Some things to include:
    Start with a clear title
    add appropriate label(s)
    list features and benefits
    Review the ideas of others. Look at other ideas to see what your fellow community members are requesting and feel free to exchange on them in the comments section. While we take into account the numbers of kudos an idea receives, we also consider the amount and quality of member feedback when making our decisions.
    Add value. Vote for those items that you like and agree with by giving the idea a kudos. It's really a significant way to recognize someone's effort. We are using votes as a barometer to find out more about what our contributor community thinks is important, so we can factor this into our prioritization process.
    Submit a new idea. Adding an idea is just like posting a message on a board. To create an idea, click on the “New Idea” button, located on the left side of the page content tab, and in the left column under the actions heading click “create an idea”. Be sure to enter a clear title and description of your idea so others can decide how they would like to vote. Remember, the more complete your thought, the more likely it is to get noticed! You can use simple HTML, format the text, or add links or images. You can also preview your idea and check your spelling before you post the idea.
    Do not be discouraged. Sometimes what seems simple may not be so simple to build. Some ideas take longer than others, and some ideas will not be possible within the scope of what we want to accomplish in the next year or so.
    Be respectful. Comply with the Community Guidelines and Skype etiquette.
    Disclaimer: Skype may or may not use your comments, ideas, or suggestions. Skype reserves the right to use for any purpose including commercial purposes, comments, ideas, suggestions, code, products or services (“Content”) that are posted on this community without any obligation to compensate the individual or entity that provided the Content. Frequently Asked Questions
    What is the Idea Board all about?
    Idea Board is a new part of the Skype Community, where members can share their ideas about existing products and services. Anyone in the community can see and vote on the ideas you post.
    We encourage you to give kudos and comment on submitted ideas as we are more likely to take the top kudoed and most discussed ones into consideration.
    How do I navigate the Ideas Board?
    Finding your way around the ideas board is a pretty straightforward task, here are some of the things you will see to help you get around.
    •  New Ideas – The most recent ideas.
    •  Hot Ideas – The most popular ideas right now.
    •  Top Ideas – The most kudoed ideas.
    The sidebar widgets
    In the sidebar you'll find more ways to sort the ideas board, see new and popular ideas and the top rated contributors to the idea board. It's also really easy to view only the ideas with certain status', for instance if you only want to see ideas that are “Accepted”.
    How to check if an idea exists already?
    Use the search function filtering by the ideas board – or click here (direct link to search function)
    What do the votes/kudos mean?
    Just as you can give kudos in the community boards and blogs, you can vote for ideas you like on the Idea Board. Ideas with high vote totals are more likely to be recognized and accepted by the teams at Skype who develop our products and services. You can also leave comments on ideas, but remember to be kind!
    What do the different idea statuses mean?
    We strive to review submitted ideas on a biweekly/monthly cycle. Each idea will go through a life cycle that will be assigned statuses at each milestone. The statuses are explained here:
    New Idea - Sparkly new idea, submitted by you, and ready to be vetted by the community.
    Comments Requested - Items set as Comments Requested will be open to the community for feedback and votes.
    Under consideration - Idea has been forwarded to appropriate business team who is determining feasibility.
    More information needed - More information is needed before our Product Management team can take this forward, please review the comments left by the team.
    Duplicate - Ideas in this status have already been submitted in some form or another. We will link these items over to the other idea so you can review the status or track the progress there.
    Already exists - This is available in the product.
    Future possibility - Idea is a good one but not something we can include in a near-term product or software release.
    Accepted - Idea has been accepted and has been taken forward for implementation, check back soon for updates.
    Not right now - We like the idea but just not for right now, we will revisit it in the future.
    Implemented - You asked for it, we did it!
    My idea has been accepted. How long will it take to be implemented?
    Sadly, we will not be able to provide dates for the implementation of any accepted ideas within the community due to the number of factors involved. Please be patient and let us make sure it is completely ready before we make it available.
    How will I know if an idea has been implemented?
    You can track the status of your ideas as your ideas are sent to the people here at Skype who can make them happen and you will see the status of your idea is updated. We will be telling you if the idea is something we are working on now or would like to do in the future, or if it’s something that is not feasible for us at this time. To ensure you don’t miss any updates select “Subscribe” from the “Idea Options” menu when viewing your idea.
    What ideas have been implemented so far?
    You can check "Accepted and Implemented ideas" topic here.
    Can I edit or delete my ideas comments?
    No, you can't. Be sure to check your spelling and preview your comment before you post it; you can't edit a comment once it's posted.
    Who and how often moderates/ manages the ideas board?
    The community team is monitoring the board on the daily basis and product managers will come in on a monthly basis to update statuses of the ideas and post their comments.
    If Skype decides not to pursue my idea, will you tell me why?
    We do not always provide the reasons for our decisions regarding ideas submitted for review but will strive to provide an explanation where possible.
    I have an idea to improve the Windows Phone software itself?
    Microsoft has set up a Windows Phone Feature Suggestion Box for exactly that purpose. Share your idea here: http://windowsphone.uservoice.com
    If I am not comfortable submitting my idea over the Internet, is there another way I can do so?
    No.

    I would really appreciate if you guys work on the feature “ custom backgrounds for chat notifications”.If users will be able to choose any image of their liking in the custom background feature if would add value. Currently some of the chat messengers provide this facility to the users which makes interesting to the users while improving user friendliness and satisfaction. Options that would include areTake a photoChoose from albumsSearch from webDeleteThat appears to be a reasonably robust selection. In search, a user can use a built in engine to pull up images based on search and then select it as it their choice. Once you chose an image, it will be asked to confirm and ‘set’ as the universal chat window for all contacts.

  • How to update a ListBox binding when a toast message arrives in windows phone

    I have a MVVM windows phone application and it has a Home page where after entering login data it goes to "Posts" page.
    Posts page has PostsModel with the following data :
    class MyClass
    public string NewPostText { get; set; }
    public string NewPostSender { get; set; }
    public string NewPostAttachment { get; set; }
    "Posts" page has the following View Model and GetPosts will read data from isolatedstorage for now i have hardcoded with some static data though.This data needs to be stored back to isolated storage while exiting the app.
    private PostsViewModel _PostsViewModel ;
    public Conversation()
    InitializeComponent();
    _PostsViewModel = new PostsViewModel ();
    this.DataContext = _PostsViewModel ;
    public ObservableCollection<PostsModel> MyPostsDataSource
    get
    if (_MyPostsDataSource== null)
    _MyPostsDataSource= GetMyPosts();
    return _MyPostsDataSource;
    set
    this._MyPostsDataSource = value;
    RaisePropertyChanged("MyPostsDataSource");
    "Posts.cs" has only the following code:
    protected override void OnNavigatedTo(NavigationEventArgs e)
    base.OnNavigatedTo(e);
    "Posts" page has the following xaml:
    <ListBox x:Name="listMyPosts" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=MyPostsDataSource}" Grid.Row="0" >
    <ListBox.ItemTemplate >
    <DataTemplate >
    <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">
    <TextBlock Text="{Binding NewPostText ,Mode=TwoWay}"/>
    <TextBlock Text="{Binding NewPostSender}"/>
    </StackPanel>
    <Image x:Name="SenderImage" Margin="8" Source="/MyApp;component/Assets/Icons/NewPostAttachment.png"/>
    </DataTemplate>
    </ListBox.ItemTemplate>
    </ListBox>
    First time when app loads the static data i have shows all the data in the list box without any issues but when a toast message comes all the data is gone and also the new message is also not displayed.
    The question i have is when i get a new toast message(to Posts.xaml page) i just want to refresh the current Posts page with the latest message details . And i dont know how to do this and whether i need to handle this in the page NavigatedTo method(if
    so how do i refresh the or atleast reload the Posts.xaml page with its PREVIOUS data plus the new data as well) as the toast notification has the navigation uri of "/Posts.xaml" page.
    I would really appreciate any help on this ?

    For comparison , Its like a Chat application. When a new message comes and the message is from the user for which the conversation page is already open then we just append the message to it.
    In ShellNotificationReceived we are just calling the "Posts.xaml" page.
     Relative Uri here is " /View/Posts.xaml" plus some paraemters like sender email id , sender message and the image..
    Application.Current.RootVisual
    asPhoneApplicationFrame).Navigate(newUri(relativeUri,
    UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute))

  • Group Messaging for Windows 8 Phones

    Can anyone tell me if Verizon is going to send an upadate for group messaging with the new Windows phones?  I have asked Verizon and they can't tell me anything about this and I spoke with At&t and all their's have the option to turn off and on the MMS.

    I have added the Windows 8.1 / Server 2012 R2 Group Policy definitions to my GP store already. I'd really like to add this one for the Taskbar. I'll have to look for a registry hack in the meantime.

  • How do I get my text messages from my android fascinate to my htc one m8 windows phone....???

    just purchased and received the new htc one...was using a samsung galaxy s for a few months before my contract ran out...my original nokia lumia 920 died and I reactivated the galaxy....now I have the text messages from october and earlier but I can't seem to get the 3 months of text messages that are on the android.....there is no cloud or transfer app (by verizon) for the new phone...only the old galaxy has the apps...go figure, I could get the app for my old phone but not the new phone...lol
    Bill

    Transfer My Data doesn't work to grab them from your Android phone?  That bites...  I thought that was a fairly new app for Windows Phone that was supposed to make it easier.  I had to take old texts and paste them into Word to upgrade from Windows 7.8 to Windows 8.  Tedious, but when you gotta save em...  Shoot, there was one conversation that was so long, I just broke out the video camera and started scrolling them on the phone so I could get them later.  Yea, I was that intent on getting them.

  • Tried to connect my messages from my phone to my macbook, but the accounts tab under preferences won't let me type in my Apple ID and I can't save, cancel, or exit out of the window

    I just got a new MacBook Pro today. My friend explained to me how to connect my messaged from my phone to my Mac, since they weren't connected yet. I opened Messages > Preferences > Accounts. My Apple ID and account info was already there and it was enabled, but the messages still weren't syncing, so I disabled it and tried to add the account again. I went to put in my account info, but I realized there was no space to put in my Apple ID, even though it said to. I typed in my first and last name, password and country, but when I clicked "save" nothing happened. The section that asked my ID, name and password disappeared, the "save" button keeps flashing, and I can't "cancel" or exit out of the window. If I press "cancel", an alert message appears but all it says is "(null)". How can I fix this so that I can exit out of it? It won't let me shut down because of this.

    It will only sync with new messages received after Mac's Messages is configured and running.
    It will not synced old messages.

  • How to change the Button content as CamelCasing in Windows phone 8.1 Message dialog

    This was already raised in
    Stack over flow, While showing the native Message dialog in Windows phone, i cant change the captions as camel case of command buttons. Is this a bug with windows phone 8.1(WinRT) are is there any workaround to fix this issue?
    Sankar

    This isn't recommended and violates the system style.
    If you want a custom dialog you need to use a different control. The MessageDialog always lower cases the buttons to match the system style and is not generally customizable.
    If you use a ContentDialog you can customize it fairly extensively, and it doesn't try to fix the case of its buttons. You'll probably want to create your own ContentDialog class (there's a template under Add.New Item...) with your desired contents, but here's
    a quick content-free example:
    ContentDialog cd = new ContentDialog();
    cd.Title = "My Title";
    cd.PrimaryButtonText = "CoNtInUe";
    cd.SecondaryButtonText = "sToP";
    await cd.ShowAsync();
    Also note that the guidelines
    for message dialogs suggest using clear and specific verbs rather than generic OK/Cancel.

  • I can't get text messages on my windows phone now that I started using iMessage on my iPad

    I have an iPad and a windows phone. I was sending and receiving text messages with my girlfriend just fine. She has an hone 4. But once I started texting her with iMessage on the iPad, I can no longer get her text on my windows phone. Can anyone help

    Contact Apple support and they will assist with deactivation.

  • Why am I getting the message "Your app isn't identified as a universal app in the Store." when I have already associated my Windows Phone app to my Windows Store app?

    I associated two Windows Phone apps to their respective Windows Store apps yet one of them is giving me this message on the pricing tab...
    "Your app isn’t identified as a universal app in the Store. Publish a Windows app with the same name, and you’ll enable the universal app icon, with all the associated benefits. If you’ve already published a related Windows app, this icon may not
    be appearing because of restrictions you’ve set on your app.
    Learn more about  these restrictions."
    I have checked under "Learn more" and I am meeting all the requirements for the icon to show.  Please help as I really think having this icon on the Phone store will help downloads and I want my users to know there is a Windows partner app.

    I downloaded the new OS X Yosemite.
    Not sure what you mean by new, since Yosemite was released about 9 months ago.
    When i  try to open it i get this message, The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac is not compatible with OS X Yosemite.
    iPhoto version 9.6.1 is the latest version of iPhoto that is compatible with Yosemite. If you're just now updating to Yosemite from an older version of OS X, then you may have missed your window of opportunity to upgrade iPhoto to the latest version.
    So i go to the Mac App Store i get this message, "The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store."
    With the release of the 3rd Yosemite update,10.10.3, which includes Photos, iPhoto is no longer available for purchase.
    I would recommend that you use Photos.

  • Message d'erreur avec IE de Windows Phone 8

    Bonjour,
    J'ai le message d'erreur suivant lorsque je regarde mon site Muse Phone avec l'IE de Windows Phone 8 : "MuseJSAssert: Error calling selector function:TypeError: Object doesn't support property or methode 'watch'". Que faut-il modifier ou supprimer ? L'erreur apparaît à chaque page.
    Merci par avance pour votre aide.

    Bonjour,

  • Can't see text messages from a Windows phone user.

    In ichat app, text threads that include Windows phone user do not even show up. Is this fixable or just "how it is"?

    Hi,
    Depending where the person lives and what carrier the person may use if they live in the "right place"  the answer can be fixable or just how it is.
    iChat 1 through 6 and Messages 7 though 8 in Mavericks (Yosemite still gets called version 8 instead of 9) will all do SMS to AIM Buddies where the Buddy is a telephone number starting +1
    To be clear, the non iPhone has to be in the United States on one of these Carriers
    You can then add their phone number like it was a Buddy to your AIM Buddy List adding a leading +1 for the Country Code.
    The app will format it for you.
    You can obviously link it to a Contact/Address  Card
    Despite the use of a +1 country Code this has never been used outside of the United States.
    The list of carriers may cover large parts of the population but is by no means everyone.
    Anywhere else is just how it is.

  • Windows Phone and Windows 8 Mail App not sending email from Reply/Forward

    I have recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. After a successful upgrade I configured the Windows 8 Mail app to also sync with Exchange (2010 in house server). On my Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia 800) I have the same account configured.
    This resulted in the problem that the Mail App and the phone do not want to send any emails that have been created by reply or forward.
    The phone gives the following error:
    "We weren't able to send this message, so we've put it in your Drafts folder. Before you try sending it again, you can check to see if the address is correct and that no attachments are too large."
    The Mail App give the following error:
    "There's a problem with sending messages from [email protected] at the moment. Check with your provider for more info."
    If I create a new email there is no problem.
    I have searched all over the internet for a solution to this problem, but could not find somebody with exactly the same problem.

    I have exactly the same problem, but unfortunately no solution either... I'll be watching this thread, or post a solution if I find one...
