Ghosting should be part of a recall program

At the end of 2012 I bought a MacBook Pro Retina.
At the end of first year of warranty (in Italy there's only a year of warranty for who need an invoice), I visited an Apple Store to asking them about the Ghosting issue of my MacBook (that visit has not tracked in the Apple systems, I don't know why). In any case the answer was "It is not an issue".
Some weeks ago, I visited again an Apple Store thinking that the recall program for displays was done to repair Retina's Mac with my issue, but also this time is not my turn!
So, I paid about € 2.800,00 to hear every time "but why you didn't buy an Apple Care program"? Apple Care for a MacBook is now priced € 349,00! Are you serious?
4 hours of work and baam... my code (or mail or anything) is readable from my Login page. Where's my privacy? (my crazy Ghosting is visible here: http://cl.ly/image/1F0y1t0h2H3C and here http://cl.ly/image/0F3W0o311R2u )
I think that Apple should consider Ghosting to be part of a recall program.
What do you think?

try appleserver.school it should automatically add .local
to the name.
I haven't used workgroup only advanced mode, in advanced when you get to entering the servers FQDN eg servername.myserver.com depending on what version your working with the local name will automatically be filled out as servername.local.
an older install 10.5 (I think)didn't fill out local server name and seemed to default to .private until I clicked on edit then it reverted to .local
trying to ad servername.local manually will be rejected as it's all ready added
the .suffix you just can't see it

    Battery recall program still operating

I had put in for a replacement battery back in December, and got a confirming e-mail with an "Order number". The e-mail also mentioned it would take 7 to 9 business days for the new battery to arrive.
-NOTE: The order number for these replacement batteries is NOT the same as a regular purchase from the Apple Store, so you can't track it through their website.
I figured the delay might be in part due to the Holidays too, so I waited some more. I'd been like a kid expecting a present, waiting for it to show up, but it hadn't as of 1/19.
My patience was running out, so I called Apple [800-275-2273] yesterday afternoon. The representative I spoke with tried for around 45 minutes to find information, etc. He had no luck, so he finally connected me with a Senior Advisor who was able to locate the Order Number [he said], and found that it was still being processed, but should arrive within a week.
I've got his e-mail to contact him if it doesn't show up.
LONG STORY SHORT, yes, the battery exchange is still being honored by Apple. It just might take longer than the 7-9 busniess days they claim.
    Hope this helps!

  • Multiple Batteries and Battery Recall Program

    Hi,
I've just been on vacation, and while I was on holiday I found out about the battery recall program. Since I wanted to save time waiting for a new battery I entered my Powerbook serial # and the battery # into the recall website. Both of these were accepted and I received a confirmation email.
I have a 2nd battery that I use on long-haul flights (ie USA) but did not take this to Europe (I'm from the UK). Now that I have returned home I have found this battery is also covered by the recall programme. I've tried to enter this battery's serial # into the website but since I've already entered the Powerbooks serial # for the previous battery it doesn't let me order a replacement battery...
I'm confused why this should happen as multiple batteries are allowed for on the web form...
    How should I proceed...?

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
I believe you can call Apple, as well as enter the information on the web.

Same model, with same capacity. Only certain serial numbers qualify. If your iPod is registerred, you should have received an email from Apple.

My Mac is a 21.5-inch Late 2009 with a 1 TB Seagate HD that must be replaced, according to Apple support Panama, but they denied me that right because the serial is not part of the replacement program: any suggestions to get a plausible solution to this problem?
I would want to know what are the criteria used by the people al espresslane support to deny the opportunity presented by the replacement program, given the situation that these 1 TB Seagate HD´s have had problems and certainly not only in the batch they accepted, but probable in other batches too.
The second question is about the powerpc support that is lost when updating from Snow Leopard to Lion X: I can not read my medical application UPTODATE.
I hope that there wil be some kind of support to help me solve that problem, this is my first petition actually.
Now, I do not have access to my yahoo email, intermitent access to Apple home page, unpredictable access to Apple store and no access to iCloud in my iMac: when I try to access these web sites, the blue web address bar is interrupted and never goes to the end, no filling up the whole bar.
I do not know what is the first problem, the Seagate HD or the Lion X, but my life is becoming a miserable one, not having the opportunity to enter in the raplacement program, losing the powerpc support because of the updating to Lion X, the necessity to buy Lion X again because it used to appear as a paid program, but not anymore, and finally having no access to my yahoo email, Apple home website and Apple store and no access at all to the iCloud: I am done.
    Chao, Elías.

You can have Apple or a competent service shop replace the internal HD for a fee, unless you have AppleCare and the iMac is within its warranty period in which case it will cost nothing. If you must pay the cost will be approximately $350 US.
PowerPC support is gone with Lion. You can install or retain Snow Leopard on another partition, and boot Snow Leopard as necessary.
The inability to load web pages is a different problem, unless it is related to your failing hard disk.

  • I have just purchased a used MacBook Pro. Should I use a virus protection program on this computer? I can get Norton for free through my cable provider. Thanks, funkro

I have just purchased a used MacBook Pro. Should I use a virus protection program on this computer? I can get Norton for free through my cable provider. Thanks, funkro

    See my Mac Malware Guide.
This issue is more complex than some of the responses you have gotten are indicating. You definitely should avoid Norton, but there actually IS malware out there, and all anti-virus software is NOT "snake oil." Don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise, as they don't know what they're talking about.
Although you should be able to do without anti-virus software just fine, there are some perfectly good reasons to install it and some good anti-virus apps to use if you decide to do so. Further, even if you do avoid anti-virus software, you need to understand what the threats are so you don't end up thinking you're totally safe and do something you shouldn't.

  • Battery recall program

We have some batteries with the batteries error (see http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=BATT-LENOVO). We have recalled the affected batteries and get a confirmation number that was in November 2007. Since this time point we wait or the replacement battery
We tried to connect the support center at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-4HWSE3, but they know nothing about battery recall program and can not help.
Now, I don't know which service number I can call or mail address, which is responsible for this battery program. Does anyone know a contact for this battery program? Have I any chance to get new batteries?

    Guten Tag Ewa,
I just went to the following link:  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?doctypeind=100&template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FhotNewsLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo
put in the information about my machine, and went to the Product Recalls page, and there they talk about the battery recall program (which you can get in German if you like).
I needed to have the battery replaced in two machines, and it did take a while, but I kept after it and got them eventually.  Good luck.  Post again if you don't get results.

"The licensing of the product does not work"
    Fault 6
    How should I proceed?
Have the program installed on only one computer.

Download the Adobe Licensing Repair Tool.
    Run the License Service Update.
Mac OS X 10.7 and above:
    a. Double-click the LicenseRecovery111.dmg   It will extract the folder. Open the folder.
    b. Double-click your Hard Drive.
    c. Double-click Applications.
    d. Double-click Utilities.
    e. Double-click Terminal.
    f. Type sudo python
Note: There is a space following “python”. Do not press Return.
    g. Drag LicenseRecover.py from the LicenseRecovery111 folder onto the Terminal Window and press Return.
    It should look like this:
    h. Enter your administrator user name and password when prompted and click OK.
(Note: the cursor will not move and you will not see stars or dots, just enter your password anyway.
    i. Let the script run, it will tell you when it is finished. Quit terminal and restart Photoshop

  • Battery from Recall program

    Hi there,
I just receive my new battery from the recall program. My preliminary usage for the battery, from charged to discharged, is around 3 hours, medium lightning, no CDs, regular usage. I thought the new batteries are suppose to last around 5 hours? Is there anyways i can check if the battery is new? I live in Indonesia currently and i am afraid that the vendor over here might switched the battery...
    Shan

3 hours sounds about right to me. The 5 hour claim really only applies if the computer is essentially idle, screen backlight turned almost all the way down, energy saving settings at maximum - in other words, it's the maximum time the battery may last.
I've never seen a Albook (or older TiBook) get more then 3 to 3.5 hours with normal use (example, e-mail, web browsing, word processing).

If you're not a registered developer, it means you've stolen Apple's software.  Now you come to an Apple forum and ask for help?  You're lucky you're not being prosecuted!
You can receive no help for stolen software here.  Enjoy your iBrick.

So I went to the nearest iStore and applied for the said program 3 weeks ago.  I got a text yestrday that I can already get the replacement unit. But when I got the replacement (iPod nano 6th Generation), it was just placed in a plastic. Thought it came with a box?
