.Gif plays fine inside PS, yes when saved and played, all hidden layers stay visibile

This is annoying me to no end! As title states, when i play the animation on the abimation timeline, it looks perfect. When i go to "save for web" and preview it, the layers that i have set to be hidden after their initial appearance in the animation still stay on screen even though I have them set to not be visible in the animation after the first frame I want them to appear in. I hope that makes sense. And yes even when I save the file and not only preview it, and click to run it, it still happens. Anyone have clues?

Does Safari support a interactive PDF with hidden layers? I'm on version 5.0.3 and the interactive PDF displays just fine, but our web development team tells me all the layers display when they view the same PDF on Safari.

Does Safari support interactive PDFs with layers? Through the use of hidden layers and buttons we built in interactivity that allows the viewers to click on buttons to display different content. When I view the PDF in Safari 5.0.3 on my Mac OS 10.5.8 the PDF displays fine and the interactivity works. However our web design firm tell me the PDF displays all the hidden layers when they view it in Safari. Who's right?

Try updating your Safari to the latest version, 5.0.5.
Also check whether the rest of your system is up to date by going to Software Update in the Apple menu.

Bug when saving - files are all inverted and transparent

Hi there,
I've been working on a job for a few hours now and I have still have it open in photoshop CS5 extended.
Basically if I save it out in ANY format (tiff, psb, psd, jpg) it is inverted and the transparency is all messed up.. when I look at it in bridge or reopen it in photoshop or preview, it's the same.
I have the file still open in photoshop and I'm scared to close it because it looks just fine on screen but when I try to do anything it is behaving strangely. for example if I convert to CMYK it goes to the inverted image which it saves out.
I deleted all the layers I am not using and rasterized all the dynamic objects and it's still doing the same thing
Is there any way I can save my file ? I've been working on it for a long time ???

After numerous attempts to rescue the file, I ended up having to recreate it..
I think it was down to a memory bug.. I did empty the clipboard as well during the creation of the file because I was having problems.. maybe it was down to that but I think it actually just became corrupted somehow !
I must admit, it's the first time I've encountered this problem in 15 years of working with photoshop !!

Illustrator popups when saving and modified outside of ill message.

when saving in illustrator several small popups flash quickly in the top left of the screen (it's happening in indesign as well now) and i get the message that this file has been modified outside of illustrator (which it hasn't been). what is going on? i have run defrag and restarted and run disk cleanup but it doesn't help.

I'm having the same problem. Is there any way to turn the
message off?

RoboHelp 9 crashes frequently when saving or save all

I'll try to give as much information as possible on this and hopefully someone will know a solution. If you need anymore information that
I mght have forgotten, I'll gladly supply it.
So, the basic problem is that RoboHelp 9 frequently crashes when I do a save or save all. 4 out of 5 times it won't crash, but usually after a few
successful saves it will crash. And it crashes even more frequently when I insert an image, usually right after I insert the image and then save.
So, here's the deal. The Sr. Tech Writer and I are both working on a small RoboHelp project that will demo a new Web Help Center for
our company's customer facing website. There is already a very old Web Help Center on the website that was created with an older version
of RoboHelp, and we're seeking to update that project. This involves importing the old HTML files from the old project into RoboHelp 9, and
updating the existing files. We have two main project files at the moment and we are working out of a shared network folder. I know normally
that working out of a network folder would be the issue, but his project has not given him any problems at all. My project is the only one that crashes when I try to save it.
I honestly think it has something to do with the images, because we have to use SnagIt to take new screenshots. At first, I saved the screenshots to
the SnagIt folder, but I thought that may be causing a problem in that RoboHelp couldn't save them in that location. So, I moved all the new screenshots associated with the
project into the project folder and saved every new screenshot into the project folder. I also amde sure that none of the images were anywhere else in the local and network drive.
That didn't solve the issue.
I hope this makes snese. I don't know what else to try. If anyone knows another method I could try I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Man, I wish I had but a single nickel for every time I've seen someone in the forums say "it has worked just fine for years on the network, so it can't possibly be that. But oh, we are suddenly having all these issues..."
The bottom line here is that you need to move the project from the network to the local C drive. Just try it. Won't take but a few moments to do. See if the crashes disappear.
Odds are they will!
And you will see an additional side benefit. RoboHelp will seem so much snappier as you work with it!

Different output when saving and converting Word documents

Hi,
I have some issues with images when converting some Word documents to PDF and I hope someone can enlighten me :-). If I convert the Word document by simply right clicking on it and selecting the option to Convert To Adobe PDF, it will create a file that is mostly fine, with the exception of some of the images which are being split into segments, making the image text unreadable.
However, if I save the file as PDF in Microsoft Word (both 2010 or 2013), then I have no such an issue, since the image is not being split into segments and the text is perfectly readable. I have also attached some examples, see below. Ideally I would like to be able to convert several Word documents at once, and saving each documents in Microsoft Word would be too time consuming. Any help on this, will be really appreciated.
1) Converting to PDF, the image is split into segments and the text is unreadable
2) Saving as PDF in Word, does not split the image and it retains the original quality and readable text

CS4 Master Edition & Snow Leopard all crash when saving and exporting

Add this one to the list of suffering CS4 users. My first ever post in my life.
The details - CS4, Master Edition Mac Pro, all did run well on old leopard system.
The story, upgrading and updating to 10.6.1 all CS4 programmes instantly crashed when using save as, save, or export. This happens about 70% of the time.
An erase of the hard drive and fresh install NO UPDATES CS4 was fine, After a couple of days I took a chance and updated the apple software (included is HP printer driver 2.2 and canon printer driver 2.1 included in the update package. almost as soon as the printer driver was around 50% downloaded CS4 started crashing. (photoshop / illustrator / indesign) All updates from apple are now installed and I have to save at almost every stroke I make in CS4 as I have deadlines, and I have fooled around too much with this upgrade. I will not go into the inability of scanning with my HP CM1312nfi MFP (networked), but any resolution there would be nice also, as now I have to scan to the memory card and then network out to the the desktop.

I tried all suggestions with no real good effect. I spent two hours reinstalling Leopard 10.5 and CS4 Master now all is good and staying good. That proves something is up with Snow Leopard. I will wait for the upgrade and response before I will touch Snow Leopard again. Save your time and money and do not buy or use this operating system yet.

How to alter project's dpi when saving and can you save as jpeg

How can I save a project in pages to a jpeg to be uploaded for printing at an outside agency? I need to alter the dpi and the overall size of the file to enable enlargement.

Yes, Preview has some powerful tools for such a low-profile system app. I use it all the time.
The problem that I have with JPEG is how bad text looks after JPEG compression. TIFF or PNG seem to me to be much better choices.
Increase the zoom on one of your exports containing text and see what you think.

Liquify Cursor disappears when Saving and Loading Mesh (CC 2014.2.2)

Hello.
I'm using Photoshop CC 2014.2.2 for Mac on a perfectly built hackintosh (Yosemite, i7-4770K, GTX770, Intuos5 L, 32Gb RAM, 2 monitors).
The arrow cursor disappears randomly when dragged over the Save Mesh or Load Mesh dialogues. It's not that the arrow cursor disappears completely. Actually, instead of switching from liquify cursor to arrow cursor as it should, it stays a circle and I can see it behind the save/load mesh window. In order to make the arrow appear in front of the save/load mesh, I have to move it out of it, and carefully move it back in. If I drag the save/load mesh window to an area of the screen clear of the liquify filter window or to my second screen, the problem goes away.
Also, when liquifying, the cursor is a little laggy, like at a low frame rate and behind my pen. I can liquify with no problem, but I can't remember if this is the way the liquify cursor behaves now that the it is GPU accelerated.
All these problems go away if I disable "use graphics processor", but that's a no go for me. I have tried both OS X Default Graphic Driver and NVIDIA Web Driver, but it makes no difference.
Any ideas?

I've noticed it happens particularly when the arrow touches any of the text input fields, among other ways I haven't identified yet. The save mesh and load mesh are the only dialogs across Photoshop on which this problem happens.
Notice that the blue cursor drawn by me is where the cursor should be, and note that the liquify cursor can be seen behind the open mesh dialogue. In this case I have to draw the cursor outside of the open window, and drag it back in making sure I don't touch the search field.

Error when flattening and embeding all annotations using javascript program file "flatten.js"?

I need to flatten an Adobe Acrobat fill-in form with annotations and after installing a javascript file, I get the option available to flatten the document under the "document" menu; however, when selected, I receive an error "An Internal Error Has Occurred". Why am I getting this error? How to I get rid of it and get the javascript file to work and flatten my document? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How to retain font-size when saving filled in form (pdf)

Hi,
I have a pdf form from an organization and when I fill in the (text)boxes, the more text I put in there, the font-size will adjust to fit everything in. However, when I save the pdf file and view it in a different pdf reader the font-size is too big and half of the text is not visible.
Also, the form contains some checkboxes/radiobuttons. When filling in the form they work just fine, but when saved and viewed both the yes and no are checked, even though I only checked one of them.
Anyone have any idea how I could fix this?

Ow.. I don't know the solution yet, but maybe something went wrong earlier with someone else who filled it in partially. I found the original on the internet and that seems to work so far.

Illustrator renaming files when saving

I am working in Illustrator CS2 on a PC. When I open a .ai file that I created, work a bit and save again, my files are being renamed. Example: My original file that was named "planning details.ai" gets renamed to "PLANNI~5.ai."

What you are describing is an OS issue. Or possibly a DOS issue (Even though they say it no longer exists, ha). The first name is a long file name and the second is a short file name.
The short file name is used if you are using an FAT formated drive. An option is enabled in windows to use short file names only. Another possiblity is a portion of your Table on the hard drive is corrupted.
The Fat table can be changed using a utility in windows that converts FAT to NTFS or Formatting the drive, that is assuming the drive can be changed. Some drives like flash drives for a camera may be required to stay as a FAT drive for the camera to work correctly.
The option for enabling short filenames may no longer be available. Windows use to have a place to change settings when issues come up to rule out the cause. Its possible that during Windows 98 to Windows ME it got phased out. I did not see it in Windows XP but then again quite a few options are now hidden. So if you did not change it yourself odds are you can rule out this theory.
As far as a corrupt NTFS Table goes it might be as simple as using chkdsk.exe or as bad as formating the drive. Odds are you would notice this issue when saving any or all new documents and reading a directory (folder) may show jibbersh or the short filenames only.
The tell tale sign of a short file name is the length of the name which is a maximum of 8 characters, plus the period, then the 3 character extention. If the long file name exceeds the limit of the short file name, a ~ character is used just before the period and the extention is trunicated to the first three characters after the period. Also the short file name can only use alphanumeric characters.
Hopefully this helps some. I do not think there is an option in Illustrator for determining which filename type to use. As this is usually left up to the OS.

I'm sorry for the issues you're having.
What you're describing could be an issue with your Flash Player in your browser. Can you try the following?
Clear your browser cache.
Update your Flash Player by visiting: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
Try another browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
Please let us know if you see improvements with any/all of these steps.

Screen phases in/out when saving MS Office docs

I just downloaded Yosemite Sunday night 3/8/15, and the screen tends to phase in/out when saving MS Office documents. My Mac tends to run extremely slow when saving, and deciding where to save the file. I've never had a problem with this before.
I'm using Macbook Pro early 2011, 16GB, 256 Solid State Drive. Never had a problem with this before.

I've seen a few brands of external drives spin down when they haven't been accessed for a while and that's sometimes built into the drive's firmware. But external enclosures aren't always ventilated properly so running the drive all the time could get it pretty hot (Seagate used to do that and required that spin down to keep from getting cooked).
