Gift song from another country

I live in the US and my friend lives in Canada. She purchased an album on itunes Canada (with her Canadian credit card) and sent it to me as a gift. I am unable to redeem this gift...it says that I must be in Canada. How can I get around this? Is it impossible to gift songs between countries?

2. It's impossible to do this through iTunes, but can be done with an international cheque or other way of transferring money directly.

Is it at all possible to buy songs from itunes in another country? I want songs that are only available in NZ and OZ, but it's not letting me do it? Thanks

This has been covered here literally dozens of times, but once again: the content owners do not allow cross-border sales from any of the legal download stores. You must therefore have legal residence in the country of the iTunes Store you wish to use. So in order to buy from another country's iTunes Store, you must (as proof of residence) have either:
a) a credit card issued by a bank in that country with a billing address also in that country, or
b) a mailing address for your residence in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.
If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTMS.
This, again, is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice.

Buy a song from another country's itunes

I'm an American currently in Australia and I would like to buy a song that is not offered in the US itunes store but is for the Australian itunes store. I am trying to download it but itunes says it is unavailable to me. I am in Australia, so why can't I buy it from the Australian store? What can I do to fix this?

Correct. Your credit balance would not be transferrable to another country's iTunes Store, and you would not (by the terms of use) be able to continue to use the Australian iTunes Store. So it's probably not practical for a single song. Either get someone with an Australian iTunes Store account to gift you the song, or pick it up on CD (which is expensive for a single song, but less expensive than buying an entire gift card for just one track).

Purchase Song from Another Country?

I was disappointed that I couldn't find the song "Hips Don't Lie" by Shikira on the US iTunes site. However after searching the web for a little while the iPod Reporter states that it is on the iTunes Dutch site - and sure enough it was. Now, once I got transfered to the site I was not authorized to purchase from the site. Does anyone know how to go about getting authorized to purchase? Or just getting this darn song from iTunes to begin with?

You should be able to just drag the track to the iTunes window. Make sure that the option for "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" is set in the iTunes Advanced preferences and it should add it and put a copy where it needs to go in the iTunes Music folder.

Purchasing songs from another country.

I have found songs that I am interested in on the France and UK iTunes sites. The transaction will not go through. How might I purchase these songs that are not available on the USA iTunes site?

You either need to purchase from a certain country's iTMS:
#1: A CC with a billing address in that certain country
or
#2: A Prepaid card/gift voucher issued in that certain country + an address there
If you don't meet of of this conditions there is "no go" - that's no decision made by Apple but by the big record companies.

App/itunes gift card from another country

For Christmas I was given an app/itunes gift card by a friend, the card was purchased in italy. Now I have just tried to enter the code and guess what? it tells me i cannot redeem it cos my store is Uk not Italy. If i try to change it to Italy it tells me I have to register with an italian bank account and address. How is this possible that i cant use an apple card on the apple store??? is there anyway to change this??? i have to say this is truly ridiculous...

OK you have 2 options lets say for example you live in the UK and the iTunes card is from the USA.
option 1) go to eBay and sell the card to someone in the USA.
option 2) use the itunes card.
if option 2 you will need to use the following steps
1) Move to the USA <------- This is just so you are following Apples rules ;-)
2) you will need a USA iTunes account, now that you live there so make a new Apple ID. To do this go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId?loca lang=en_US and the 1st thing you are going to want to do is go to the bottom of the page and make sure that next to "Choose Your Country or Regin" you have the US flag (or what ever flag matches the place you just moved to to use the card) if it doesnt then click on it and change it. Put in all info to setup the account, (if for some reason you cant remember the address of the place you just moved into then use google maps). if you dont get an option to make an iCloud email address then you can make a Gmail account and use that as your new Apple ID.
3) you have now moved and made a new iTunes account you can now use your gift card. You will have access to the content in your new country and it will be at their prices.
4) if you want content from both accounts, I assume you already have content purchased from your old account then login to your iTunes/iPhone/iPad with 1 account and download what you own then logout and login with your second account.

Gift voucher from another country not redeemable?

I live in australia. My friend in germany sent me a gift-voucher.
To redeem, itunes want me to register an account, so i did. I can only register in australia (credit card, billing adress, pp)
The provided gift voucher number was not valid in the australia store. So i visited the german store to redeem it there. It wants me to sign in, but then tells me that i can only use my account in the australia store.
What am i doing wrong or is apple serious you cant make an international present?

Gift vouchers can be redeemed in the issueing country only!
So what you have to do:
log off from any iTMS account
switch to German iTMS
redeem voucher
now create new account with an unused email
enter your German address - skip CC detail: You will be offered this option as you are redeeming a voucher
After that you will be able to use your Australien account as well as your German.

My daughter has been given an Apple gift cert bought in Ireland but her ID is UK store based, it states that she needs a new ID to use the Ireland store front. Which she moved to but it asked her to set up a new ID. If she has two ID's surely she will have two sets of music in two different locations?
Any ideas on how she can redeem this inot her UK iTunes ID so she can manage her music & videos in one location?

- You can only use the iTunes/App store in the country you are located. An iTunes gift card can only be redeemed in the same country's store in which the card was purchased.
- If she is in Ireland then shed can redeem the card into her existing account.existing . However, if she still has a balance for the UK store she has to remove that balance before she can change country store and redeem the Ireland card.

Hi, I just received an app as a gift from my older brother who has an american account. The problem is I use an european account, so the code I received is invalid for me .We weren't aware of this restriction, so does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I know we cannot purchase from another country's iTunes, but how about if someone in that country gifted songs to us? For example, my wife here in the U.S. wants stuff from the Japanese iTunes store but can't buy it; can her sister in Japan "gift this song" to her? Thanks.

No, you can only successfully gift to people who are in the same country as yourself - the gifting may appear to go though, but your wife won't be able to redeem it
