Gift Vouchers and Checkout

Is there anyone who can answer this question please.
I'm kind of confused in terms of the Gift Voucher thing.
Now we have a Gift Voucher Field in the Shopping Cart Layout where you insert the Gift Voucher code, click update and the cart will populate the discount to the total accordingly. Ok that's fine. But then when you click checkout, the Registration Buy Layout / Form , has a Gift Voucher as a Payment Method.
How does it all work?
Wouldn't that create duplicate discount or populate an error if the customer enters the Gift Voucher Code twice?

Karim is correct to some degree, but if the gift voucher amount is lower than the total amount of the order, you will still need credit card fields to pay the remainder of that order.
Here's a scenario for you:
- The total of the order is $70. You have a $50 gift voucher. You go to shopping cart, enter the voucher code, the total goes down to $20 and you pay the remainder, whih is that $20, on the registration step using the credit card.
Another one:
- The total is $50. You have a $50 voucher. You go to shopping cart and enter the voucher code. The total goes down to $0. You proceed to the registration step and choose the Gift Voucher payment option and check out.
Same applies to a case where the GF amount is > order total.

Redeem gift vouchers for credit on Apple TV

Is it possible to redeem a gift voucher on Apple TV or on iTunes so that when you buy/rent content on AppleTV it deducts the cost from your redeemed gift voucher balance rather than from the credit card you have on file?
I have been given a whole stack of gift vouchers and obviously want to use them before I start spending my own money!

Someone else may have some more up to date news, but:
I have always been able to use up credit by way of a gift voucher/promotion etc, however I understand at one point others couldn't. It turned out that unless you also had details of a credit card or other method of payment for your account that purchases from the tv wouldn't use voucher credits, but would if you did have a method of payment set up.
I've seen reports that this has now been fixed and even accounts without a method of payment entered will use up voucher credits, but i'm not able to verify this personally.

Am persevering thru it, will get there eventually, as I had already tried to press the Report a Problem link on the invoice, but it won' t connect to iTunes store on my iPad, it keeps saying can't connect. Infuriating. But thank you, you found me a link I would have taken ages to find.

Gift vouchers

If I order 3 different gift vouchers with the plan to send them to 3 different people, it sends them all to me and combines the amount.
Can this be adjusted...so people who wish to send multiple vouchers don't have to go through the entire ordering process 3 times?
Also, is there a way to send an email to the gift purchaser that the email gift voucher was delivered to the recipient's inbox?

Hi there.
First thing s at some stage your entering email rather then your recipients email. If you set up that option for a product then that step is added to the checkout process. Of you find that confusing you can adjust the layouts to flow better.
Indeed if you do then send more then one gift voucher the systems stacks and remembers how much you have and have left during purchases which is a nice feature.
I see where your going about sending multiple, but at this stage it does not support that, you can add that to the wish list but I think it's a feature that has been asked before, same with the confirmation. You would need to use the open/ bounce tracking like newsletters which is a bit much for such a feature. I have not seen any system that has told me that a person has got and read the email. There a friend so you normally follow up on if they liked the gift voucher.
In terms of multiple wise now you can create physical products that are actual posted gift vouchers, use the shipping attention for those to store the addresses of the people your sending too(JavaScript to make it work nice) and on the sale create codes and print those on the physical vouchers.

Unique discount codes / gift vouchers

I have a client who is wants to be able to send a customer a gift voucher / discount code with their receipt that is valid for one week and only redeemable once. Basically to encourage them to buy again that week or to pass it onto a friend if they aren't going to use it.
Everything seems to point to this not being possibe as discounts/gift vouchers have to be manually entered, but thought it was worth asking.
Has anyone done anything like this before? Does anyone else feel that this would be a really handy marketing tool to have available?

This is indeed not possible. You need to perform that task manually. Create a gift voucher and then email it to the customer.

Gift Vouchers - Ireland

Do Apple have gift vouchers you can use for the online store, like for hardware not for ITunes in Ireland?

Apple Gift cards and iPhone Gift Cards can be used for hardware at the Apple Stores and at the Apple online store.
iTunes and iBook Gift cards can only be used in the online iTunes and Mac App Stores.
And there is now a new Apps Gift card, also usable for the online iTunes and Mac App Stores.

Pages templates for gift vouchers?

Hello folks.
Anyone know where I can find (free) templates for gift vouchers/ gift certificates for latest Pages or possibly office for mac 2008?
Can be on OSX lion or iOS5.0.1...

I about 130 000 hits searching 'voucher template free' (without the quotes) on Google, and about 8.2 million using the same search list on Bing.
Mostly for Word, so may require a few tweaks.
Should be a few useable ones on the first few pages.

PS: The download I checked included MS Word template files (.dot and .dotx). Pages '09 is able to open these with out difficulty. If memory serves, it used to be necessary to change the extension to .doc and .docx for Pages to recognize them, but apparently that's no longer true.

I put in my $25 gift card and can see it there but it still won't accept it plus what's in my bank as payment?

I have $22.57 in my "gaming" bank account. I am unable to download updates in app center. My bank is 20 miles away. I purchased a $25 iTunes gift card and went into the "redeem" screen and typed it in. It shows I have a $25 credit. I know if I got close to my $22.57 that it wasn't by much and certainly no more than $10 at the very most. $25 + $22.57 = 47.57 would cover it easily and have much breathing room left over. I have done this once before in the past when Apple's belated charges and my bank's auto $5 to savings hit at the same time and the combo gift card + bank balance worked fine. Am I missing some crucial step that I've forgotten to do? ( As a side note.....And seriously, if I want to remove a credit card number permanently from an iPad, I should be allowed to, without putting anything back in at that moment.) Back to my original issue - is there a way to - flush - ? - this through? Thanks.

Does your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks?
Then delete the song from your iTunes library and download it again from the iTunes Store.

Very very likely that tax is applicable and tax is more than $0.01. You need to add a payment method for the tax. If you add a credit card, the girft card balance will be used up first.

I've never had a credit card on my iTunes account because I mostly purchase free apps and because I don't own a credit card. If I want to buy an app I use a family members Apple ID. You have a Puerto Rico address on your account ? From a quick search I've found one site from somebody in Puerto Rico that includes a screenshot for an app receipt showing tax of 7 cents added to a 99 cent purchase. Are you able to view the purchase history on the account that you've been using, and see what prices show on them (e.g. if the store's listed price or price plus tax) : Store > View Account menu option on a computer's iTunes, then 'see all' link next to the Purchase History section.

You can use your iTunes Store balance to purchase from the Mac App Store, but not from the Apple Online Store.

Yes, it will, unless you make a purchase which can't be done with a gift card, in which case the balance will remain and the entire purchase be charged to the credit card.

If the amount of the purchase is close to $21.07, then you need to take into account taxes may be added.
If you go beyond the credit from a gift card the balance will be billed to your credit card account.

Can I partially spend a gift card, and other questions on gift card limitations

I have several questions:
1) Is it possible to only partially spend a gift card, and save the rest for another time?
2) Within what time frame does teh card needs to be spend?
3) Can I buy a gift card in an apple store in China, and then spend it on a UK app store account?
4) iTunes has an app store where gift cards can be redeemed. Can gift cards be redeemed with the Mac App store as well for Mac software purchases?
5) Can the gift card be used for Apple Store purchases?
6) If one gift card's funds is insufficient for a purchase, can the difference be paid with a second gift card?
7) What are the limitations to spending a gift card, is it just the funds, or also a quantity of apps?
Honestly, I would expect Apple to have a support section that clarifies this, but I can't find it by browsing the Apple website.

So in addition to your information I found some more data that helps clarify why e.g. China cards cannot be spend in a UK iTunes app store. Not sure I agree, or approve, and quite sure that Apple looses money this way, but it is what it is.
However, I wonder if this is a workaround:
Ok, so I got a UK iTunes account. I read here that it is possible to change country/region for an account. So... if I were to change my country/region to China, and THEN buy an iTunes gift card, can I then spend that using my relocated-to-China account in the iTunes store? And then, what would happen if I then subsequently change back to the UK?
