Gifting an app from the Indian app store to someone in the US!

I live in Delhi India. I gifted an app to a friend in the US but she cannot download it as the "code is valid for the Indian store only." The app (50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic) is available in the US app store. Any way she can get it?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Short answer, it can't be done. In India, you can only use the Apple stores for India. In the US, she can only use the Apple stores for the US. You do not have access to the US store and she does not have access to the India stores. If you send her a gifted app or a gift certificate from the India store, she cannot use it in the US. And you do not have access to the US stores to send her gifted apps or gift ertificates from the US stores. There is no way around the situation.
The only solution is to find a 3rd party situation where you can send her the cash to use to buy the app.

  • I dont see how to gift an application from the app store on my iPad

I am trying to gift an app to a friend and i cant find how to do it inside the new app store.
I ended up going to the itunes store on my laptop but it was nice to be able to do it from the store

You need to delete all the applications which were downloaded from that account.

  • Can you purchase from the app store with someone else's appleid?

My grandson has his own iPhone.  He uses it to play APPS.  He has his own AppleID.
His father downloaded a new game using his own AppleID onto his son's iPhone.
My grandson's iPhone now seems to be confused as to what AppleID it belongs to?
When an AppleID is created, I assume Apple set it up so the AppleID is a one to many relationship.  That way
you can have multiple products using the same AppleID.
Does the MAC Address of the device the AppleID is created on get stored and referenced when interacting with
    The APP'S Store?

On the iPhone, open the App Store app, go to the Featured pane, swipe to the bottom, tap the Dad's Apple ID and sign out. Tap again and sign back in with Son's Apple ID.
If it won't change the Apple ID you may be encountering the fact that an iOS device can have the content of comingled Apple IDs synced to it from the libraries of the iTunes app on a Mac or Windows box, but unfortunately, an iOS device itself can only have one Apple ID associated with it every 90 days. That may be what you are encountering, Dad has signed into his Apple ID on Son's iPhone and the lot of you are stuck with that for 90 days, after which Son may again sign into his Apple ID on the iPhone.

  • How to gift computer with Lion (App Store) to someone else?

I am replacing an iMac which has the current Lion OS on it purchased through the App Store.  I want to give this old computer a friend.  1.  Since Lion updates automatically via my Apple ID at the App Store, what needs to be done to enable the recipient of my gifted computer to continue to receive updates?  AND:
    2.  Do I need to do some type of "deauthorization" of my App Store Apple ID like I would do for my iTunes account?
This was not an issue with the old method of the OS on a purchased CD, and it may be a non-issue now.  Thanks!

    You can't legally do it.
From the Lion software license agreement, downloadable here:
    http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/macosx1072.pdf
    B. If you obtained your license to the Apple Software from the Mac App Store or on Apple- branded physical media, it is not transferable. If you sell your Apple-branded hardware to a third party, you must remove the Apple Software from the Apple-branded hardware before doing so, and you may restore your system to the version of the Apple operating system software that originally came with your Apple hardware (the “Original Apple OS”) and permanently transfer the Original Apple OS together with your Apple hardware, provided that: (i ) the transfer must include all of the Original Apple OS, including all its component parts, printed materials and its license; (ii) you do not retain any copies of the Original Apple OS, full or partial, including copies stored on a computer or other storage device; and (iii) the party receiving the Original Apple OS reads and agrees to accept the terms and conditions of the Original Apple OS license.

  • My friend didn't receive my gift fom App Store.

I  bought WhatsApp Messenger using App Store with my iPad2 24 hours ago. My friend  didn't receive my gift nor I received a confirmation mail. He has an iPhone 4S. How can I solve this?

The gift would have come to him in the form of an email. Have him check his Junk or spam folder to make sure it wasn't diverted.
You also might want to log into itunes and verify you used the correct email address.

  • Mountain Lion isn't letting me use the App Store, Can someone help me?

I thought that mountain lion will be a very useful software upgrade. After I downloaded Mountain Lion, I can't connect to the App Store and I can't turn dictation on. Can someone please help me?

I am having the same problem. There is a glitch with the app store, that non-admins cannot connect to the app store. Try using the admin account overwise i'm not sure on that one.
I have no clue for dictation is it all faded out? That is how mine is, it is probably just a problem with the new software and they will release an upadte for that but if the app store is not working how can we receive the new release?
You'd of thought that apple would of run tests or something to see what happens when you download mountian lion. If i find anything i will keep you informed.

  • After i post an app to the app store, Can someone else steal my idea?

I am an aspiring app creator but began wondering whether or not another developer could steal my idea once its out on the app store. Is there an apple policy that states that no one can steal it or is it open for the taking?

I don't think there would be a policy to prevent healthy competition. Unless another app is blatantly ripping off yours, there is nothing you can do. Multiple takes on the same idea is normal in development circles.
If competition was blocked, on a Mac we would only have TextEdit for a text editor, Pages for a word processor, QuickTime and iTunes as media players, see where I'm going here?

  • Gifting on iTunes from the US across the pond

Is there some reason someone wouldn't be able to download something gifted from the US to overseas (ie, Europe)? I understand they often have to use different suffix addresses to get to sites, would that impact the iTunes gifting process so they couldn't download it? Thanks.

Yes there are reasons. Copyright law and tax laws would be the biggest issues.
"Gifts purchased from the iTunes Store in the United States may be purchased only for, and redeemed only by, residents of the United States. Gifts are non-refundable. Gifts may not be purchased with iTunes Cards, Gift Certificates or Allowance Accounts. Gifts may not be used for Movie Rentals or Apps."

  • App store with someone elses apple account

i got this ipad from a friend, he had his apple account logged in the app store on the ipad..so i went to i tunes n i logged in as mine, but when i try to update the apps from app nstore it still asks me for his password..i no longer have contact with him, so i am unable to update my apps without his password and cant log him out.

You may need to force your iPad into Recovery Mode and restore it. See this support article for instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
If you are unable to restore the iPad, it may have developed a hardware problem in which case you'll need to take/send it to Apple.
    Good luck.

  • My mac app store shows someone else's update

My Mac App Store is showing someone else's update. the update is for an app called CodeBox. I've never heard of it, not even purchasing it. when I tried to cleaning my computer's cache, it's still there. What should I do?? It's very irritating for my family...

I can't see how it has achieved such notariety in your household ... it is simply an inexpensive developers tool.   That said, you or someone else has downloaded it at some time; it won't just appear.
But you can check that.   As it is a paid app, it will appear in your purchases list (hidden or unhidden) and if by some odd situation it doesn't, write to the billing department and ask for a copy of the account it featured on.
In terms of getting rid of it, the chances are it could have been partially deleted by the person who downloaded it.   But you have a clone or similar in your system and that is why MAS is picking it up and showing the update availability.
You're going to have to search a little harder, I'm afraid.

  • My app store has someone else's id

I have someone else's Apple ID in my App Store but the correct one is in iTunes.  Person is unknown and so I am unable to enter a password.  How do I get rid of it?

Settings > Store > tap on the Apple ID at bottom. Sign Out. Sign In with your Apple ID.
I've seen it happen if you hook up the device to someone else's computer to charge it and they have iTunes installed. Your device can pick up their account name.

  • When I try to update apps in App Store show someone else's Apple ID

cannot login to App Store show another id

Each application has the associated Apple ID stored inside it. This can't be changed without deleting and redownloading it.

  • Can I gift a movie from the US to South Africa?

    Hi all,
I'm a US resident and my girlfriend lives in South Africa. I wanted to gift her the movie 'Tsotsi', but I noticed that the gift is redeemable in the United States store only. She most definitely set up her account in the US before moving (she's also American), but since she'll be accessing the iTunes store from the US, does that mean she won't be able to access the gift I want to get her? I just don't want to spend $11.99 and have it be irredeemable. My credit Thanks!

    Sorry.
You cannot gift to another country.
