Gifting an iPad

I bought my wife an iPad for Christmas.  I want to set it up before I give it to her and install some apps/games that I know she will like.  I have her Apple ID / password (she has an iPhone).  Can I do this without her receiving email notification?  I'd like to keep it a surprise.
Thanks in advance!

No, apps buying under her Apple ID will trigger e-mail notifications (receipts). Only downloading free apps then she won't be notified.

  • Gifting an IPad, How can I pre-load Pictures?

Hi all... Like the topic says, I'm gifting an IPad for Christmas, and I would like to load some pictures of good times and family onto it prior to giving it to them.
I pre-ordered mine when they first came out, and cannot remember if you HAVE to use ITunes to "activate" it like the IPhone... If this is the case, then how can I go about getting it activated, and syncing photos onto it? They have an IPhone, so they already have an ITunes account... Or is it even possible?
    Thanks for any help/suggestions....

    Thank you Ralph.
Will it cause any issues for them, when they go to sync it to their machines, being that I activated it with my account?
I'm pretty sure they can just back it up, and or just copy the pictures(that I sync'ed) from the IPad, so that they can keep those pictures as well as load their own... I'm just unsure if there will be any issues when activating it with my account...
    Thanks again

  • A friend from USA give me as gift an ipad app or a giftcard to buy alone

I have itunes account but *my country not permits me* to buy from app store, well may a friend from USA give me as gift an ipad app or a giftcard to buy alone... if yes how, what must be done?

I understand you're not looking a book or song, but they come put of the same system and operate the same way. Apps can only be downloaded if your iTunes acct is based in a country where that app is licensed to be sold.
I'm not sure what you mean in the second question - do you see the Guinness app icon? Or does the blue line indicate that it is stuck halfway? Either way press down on the icon until it starts wiggling, and then click on the X to delete it. Redrafting the iPad (press home and power buttons down until screen goes black and you see the Apple icon) might help as well.

  • Is it possible to gift an ipad in a different country?

Im living in the Netherlands and wanted to gift an ipad to someone in Australia. I tried buying one, but it only allows me to insert a billing address of US or Australia. Can I just put the billing address of the receiver and still pay with my european credit card?
    Hope someone can help. Thanks!

    No.
Note: When purchasing an iTunes Gift, a valid credit card must be on file; you cannot purchase an iTunes Gift with store credit. Purchased gifts cannot be redeemed outside of the country of purchase. For example, an iTunes Gift purchased in France cannot be redeemed on an iTunes Store outside of France.

  • Gift preset ipad to person in 3rd world without iTunes

I intend to gift an ipad to a person in the 3rd world, with limited wifi and probably no iTunes support on another computer.  I would like to load it with instructional videos and documents (a mini library) and then remove all connections back to my accounts so that if stolen or lost there will be no residual link back to my accounts.  Is there a way to accomplish this?  Could I create a bogus account on my computer with associated appleID, do the loading of material using my charge card, and then delete these accounts and and appleID (and of course charge card info) and still have a usable iPad that doesn't link back to me in any way?  I would be very interested in your suggestions.
    Derek

    1. No.
    2. Send that person an international cheque for $50 US.

  • My daughter was gifted an ipad

My special needs daughter was gifted an ipad (used), that has many apps that are appropriate for a person with special needs already loaded (under the previous owners account).
This is great, we are loving using it for my daughter.
I do eventually plan to purchase the ones that are working well for her.
Yet what I would like to be able to do is add to what is already there.  Especially more easily add pictures to the device for some of the communication apps (right now since I can not sync I can only email them to myself, which, well is a PITA)
Or one of the apps, which I have high hopes for being usefull for her, is not functioning properly and, not being the original owner, I'd need to re-purchase (which again, since this is one I do really want for her, I have no problems doing so).
I'd Iike to also  be able to add other apps I've found, random free apps, or other cheap apps we could enjoy.
Is there ANY possible way to be able to add new apps to this device without loosing everything already on there.
I'm even willing to go up to the Apple Store and let the Guru's do it for me if that is what it may take.
(Heck even if all the Guru's could do is fix that one app - that one app that doesn't work, than I would have many more months of letting her use communication apps to see how she does overall with the ipad).
I am so hoping someone out there can help.

    Hi,
The Apps already on the iPad are Locked to the Apple ID that purchased them... so you cannot add to them without that Original ID.
Create your Own Apple ID for purchasing the Apps you want...
    See Here for more Info:
    Apple ID FAQ

If you have an Apple Store close by, go in and talk to the Gurus and I’m sure you will find them most helpful...

  • Gifting an iPad app.

I want to gift an iPad app, however I want to print it out. How long do you have to redeem the app as I don't want it to run out before they have got it ? Hope you will be able to help.

To my knowledge, a gift purchase does not expire, assuming the gifted item is still available in the App store or iTunes store. Expedition of these types of transactions are also governed by law in some locales.
Even if there is an expiration, it should a substantial amount of time out (6 months, 1 year, etc.). Shouldn't present an issue for you.

  • How can I gift an iPad app on a specific day, like birthday?

In answering an earlier question (How can I buy a specific iPad app for someone else?) https://discussions.apple.com/people/King_Penguin gave the following helpful tip:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2736
So far, so good (except that now I'll need to tip off the giftee by asking which email address he uses for iTunes). However... I have a new problem. How do I specify that the gift "arrive" on a specific day, such as a birthday? Dear Obvious Answer: No, I don't want the answer "Buy it on his birthday." I will be out of the country on his birthday, and away from internet/3g/4g connections. I need another choice.

A different obvious answer: organise it, don't tell him until his birthday. If you cannot phone or text, tell him on a birthday card, posted (remember that?), if necessary inscribed "do not open until your birthday".
We spend too much time wresting with technology to solve problems that would not even exist a few years ago.

  • I was gifted an IPad 4 without 3G.  I would like to get the 3G.  Is it possible?  I can't find a way to aask APPLE

I was gifted an IPAD4 without 3G.  I would like to have 3G added.  Is this possible?  I have not found a way to contact APPLE about this.   Pam

Apple don't do trade-ins, and 3G/4G can't be directly to added to a wifi-only iPad - you can use an iPhone as a personal hotspot (if your carrier supports it), or get a mifi device and use that as a mobile hotspot for it.
If it was bought from Apple within the last 14 days then it can be returned for a refund and you can buy the 4G version instead - if it was bought from a different store then you will need to check there returns policy.

  • Is there a way to give an ebook as a gift for iPad

Is there a way to give an ebook for an iPad as a gift to someone.  Not just a gift card, but a particular book.

No, at the moment ebooks bought from Apple cannot be gifted - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4059 :
No, you cannot gift a book in the iBookstore at this time

  • How do I gift an iPad ap?

Here is the situation. Our company has 10 iPad2s deployed across a wide area.
Is there a way I can purchase an ap for each of them, and pay from the aps from a central account?
One theory I had was based on "gifting music" but I can't find that functionality in the Ap Store. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    ...Doug

Hmm, an especially hard question I guess. I now believe there is no functionality for this in MAS.
    Thanks.

  • HT1918 Gifting an iPad 1 question

I returned my iPad 1 to factory conditions in order to prepare it to give to my dad. We have a Mac and a couple of iPads. I want to keep my account for those devices but have set up a new apple ID for my dad. However, when I go to the app store, it still says: welcome Barbara. How do I get his new account on the iPad 1 without losing my own account for the other devices.

Tap on your account id in Settings > Store on the iPad and log out of it and then log in with your Dad's account - logging in with a different account on that iPad should affect your Mac or other iPad

  • Gifting an iPad overseas

I've bought an iPad (wi-fi) for my mother's 80th birthday. She lives in Spain. I want to set it up for her, load some photos, link an email account, stuff like that. I'd love to load a few apps for her too.
I'm hoping someone will help me out here - what issues will we face when she has to use the Spanish iTunes? Will she need to create a whole new iTunes account (I'll need to create a US one to set up the iPad for her), and if so will it wipe the US content?
I will really appreciate help here. Together we can make an old lady very happy.
    David
