Gigabit G4 Won't recognize Samsung Mini DV

I have two Macs (a 350Mhz Yikes! PCI Graphics with 512mb & a Dual 450MHz Gigabit Ethernet with 1.5GB). Both machines are running OS 10.2.8, and have iMovie 3 installed. I tried to connect my Samsung Mini DV (SC-D6550) to the DP G4 via Firewire...but in ASP it says "no firewire device found". I just happen to try & connect it to the PCI Graphics G4...and it worked fine! That's cool, but I really want to utilize the CPU speed & extra RAM of the DP G4 when working with video. Currently, or until I resolve this Firewire problem...I've networked the two G4's thru Ethernet, I capture using the slower G4 and then I move the video footage over to the DP G4 for editing. It works this way....but it's a bit of a hassle.

instead of doing a restore, go to Disk Utility, have your iPod in disk mode and plug it with your Mac, go to Tab "Partition" and click "Partition", go back "erase" and click "Erase". Eject your iPod and do a Reset, open the iPod updater and click "restore"

  • Computer won't recognize my Mini

Our computer recognized our Ipod until we tried to update it. Once updated, the adapater picture came on and now the computer won't recognize it. In stead we get the adapter picture. Tried to reset after leaving the adapter on it all night and it won't reset. We get the apple then the adapter picture. The computer doesn't know it's there either now. Again tried to reset, get the apple and the adapter. Just one big circle. Any suggestions?

Circuit City just fixed my ipod after having the same problem, just my luck they were running a free clinic this week. Anyways, mine did the same as yours, worked fine til I tried to update it, then it showed nothing except the AC adapter icon, even after it was plugged in with the thing! So what they did was to use something called a firewire. It has 2 plugs on one wire, one for the AC adapter and one for the USB at the same time. They fixed it within a matter of minutes, re-set it, declined the update and tada! You can buy a firewire for about $30 just about anywhere. I hope this helps you.

  • 10.5.8 won't recognize Samsung ML-1630

I bought a Samsung ML-1630 a couple months ago and installed it easily when I was still on 10.4.11. Recently, a friend of mine lent me their Leopard disc and I've since updated my way to 10.5.8.
The printer has been chugging along just fine until this afternoon when I tried to print from Safari. The printer queue popped up and said that the printer was offline. After fiddling with it, turning it off and on, pulling out the USB cord and plugging it back in, I quickly (without thinking, obviously) right clicked in the Print & Fax pane under System preferences and selected Reset printing system. The driver disappeared. Oops? So in a panic, I found the disc that came with the thing and reinstalled the driver, rebooted my computer, and tried to re-add the printer in the Print & Fax pane, but it just would NOT recognize the driver. I tried everything. I installed all software updates and restarted a couple of times. I used the uninstaller on the printer disc and then reinstalled the driver. I even tried selecting Adobe PDF under the default printer menu and changing the settings to the ML-1630 but to no avail.
I'm a little worried that it decided it doesn't want to work on 10.5 anymore, and I'll need to go back to 10.4.11. The specs don't actually say it's compatible with 10.5 (just 10.3 and 10.4), but as I mentioned before it had been working fine for at least a few months on 10.5. It's also difficult to follow the instructions that came with the printer since 10.5 no longer has Printer Setup Utility. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
I had a look at the Samsung web site and there is a driver v3.00 for Mac OS X 10.3 to 10.6 available for download. Here is a link to the driver page for the ML-1630 that also explains adding the printer queue.

  • Synch not working, ITunes won't recognize ipod mini

With a new pc, my mini is no longer recognized by my itunes set up, very annoying. Ipod is working, but now "locked" to old setting, won't reset or resynch with each charge.
Have tried replugging in, flicking "hold" toggle, holding down select button, all to no avail. In "file" section, where I once was able to select "synch," it is no longer available (with light lettering).
When I run diagnostic, screen reads "no ipod detected," even though mini is plugged in.
This Itunes also locked up a month ago, and started gradually wiping out songs I had previously on my ipod.
Any help in this area would be appreciated. I'm considering heading to the Apple store, but don't know if they'll be able to help, and the support on the Itunes site is fairly poor.
    Help?

    I'm having the same problem.
"Updated" to iTunes 8.0. Genius is working in iTunes on my first generation Mac Mini, but my first generation iPod mini is no longer showing up or syncing.

  • Premiere CS5 (win7 x64) won't recognize my Mini-DV camcorder.

    I have Premiere Pro CS5 installed on a Windows 7  64-bit system.
When I try to Capture, I keep getting the error message:  "Can't Activate Recorder. Try Resetting Camera."
the whole set-up worked fine on my XP system with Premiere Pro 1.5.
    Extra info:
The Mini-DV camcorder is a Panasonic NV-DS33   (but personally I think it has nothing to do with my camera because I have seen so many threads online regarding this issue and no-one has any decent answer!)
the firewire cable is fine because it works on my old XP computer.
in premiere, if I change the camera to an HDV, then suddenly I can CONTROL the camera, but I can't capture)
Windows 7 (x64 bit) recognizes the Camcorder in the Device Manager (and says it is working properly).
I have tried several other DV capturing softwares (Stoik, Scenalyzer, WinDv). I have even tried my old Premiere Pro 1.5 on my 64-bit system.. and NONE OF IT WILL CAPTURE MY CAMCORDER!
This is very frustrating. I need my new win7 (x64) Premiere CS5 to capture successfully. I have spent a LOT of money on this new system. What on earth is the problem?
(i saw one thread on a similar issue regarding a 32-bit installation of Win 7, and it is marked as ANSWERED! but in my opinion, (from the amount of forums on many other sites) this issue is definitely not fixed.
is there any update to Premiere CS5? or a workaround? or anything else I should know?
PS: it is not an option for me to keep using my old computer to Capture video and then transfer it to my new system. i am passing my old system on to another person.
    many thanks

I agree that the "Legacy" FW driver solution should be a stickie, or FAQ. Since Win7-64 was released, it has caused no end to the grief. Maybe Jeff, or Todd will have a better solution to getting the word out.
It was Harm Millaard, who brought that to MY attention, and he's posted it to many, many threads. In nearly every case, it's solved the issue.
Good luck, and thanks for reporting Colin's success,
    Hunt
PS - per your suggestion, I just published this "fix" in the Tips & Tricks sub-forum for PrElements.

  • ITunes won't recognize iPad mini?

Whenever I plug my iPad mini into my PC, the PC will recognize the iPad mini. I can open folders and view files. But the iPad will NOT open in iTunes. I have no way to sync anything.
I've tried restarting the computer and rebooting the iPad. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. iPad mini is running iOS 7.1.1 so up to date and everything. I'm getting REALLY frustrated over here.

    Hey SaintRise!

  • SAMSUNG MINI DV CAMCORDER NOT SEEN BY GIGABIT G4

My guess is a bad firewire port. I highly doubt permissions or pram is the issue.
Make sure the camera is off, and whatever you are using to edit is closed (imovie, final cut). Plug the cable in, then turn the editing software on. If that doesn't work, it sounds like your port is bad. Try with another port, or try to hook up a known good device. If you can confirm that the port is good, repost here any more details you can think of.

Is this particular car stereo stated as being compatible with your iPod Mini?  If you aren't sure, check the manufacturer's support site or give the car stereo manufacturer a call.

  • New Mini won't recognize Apple USB modem

I hate being thick but I can't figure out why my new mini won't recognize the Apple USB modem I just purchased. The network preferences see the built-in Airport card, Bluetooth, Ethernet and Firewire, but I cannot get it to recognize any kind of modem (internal or external).
I figured it might be an uninstalled component (this is the Mini with built-in Airport) and looked through the OS X installation discs, but no. I can't find any drivers on the Apple site for the modem... has anyone had any success with this?
    Many thanks in advance,
    m.
    Mini / 1.42Ghz/airport   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Doh! Upgrading the system to 10.4.4 did the trick. I guess the right drivers for the USB modem weren't in the earlier version to be recognized.

  • My Mac mini won't recognize photo library in itunes so I can download pics from library and free up space in memory, I was able to download camera role but not photo library that takes up more space.

My Mac mini won't recognize iphone 4 photo library in itunes so I can download pics from library and free up space in memory, I was able to download camera role but not photo library that takes up more space. Help thanks

The photo sync is one-way: Computer to phone. Photos synced to your phone will have to be extracted from your phone using third-party software, if you want them on your computer, as Apple makes no provision to do so. Since you're using a Mac, you can use this:

  • Mini Mac won't  recognize my password

My mini mac won't recognize my passwoed. Is there any way to reset the password? I know I am entering it correctly. I am copying  down my the note pad I wrote it down on. I tried swapping  out the keyboard. I also tried resetting ithe as well. Please help.

Note: Resetting the keychain deletes all the old saved password entries!
You can't change a keychain password without knowing the old password.
Backup the files located in ~/Library/Keychain before resetting if you ever plan on attempting to recover the old keychain items (should you remember the old password).
The Finders 'Go menu > Go to folder…' will open that folder if you insert ~/Library/Keychain as the path.

  • Why won't my Samsung intensity II not recognize a memory card?

I just purchased a Samsung Intensity II the other day. I purchased a memory card at the same time (16g, I think).
The card was put in the phone in the store by the sales clerk.
Once home, I 'formatted' the card. I hooked the phone up to my computer, and it the computer recognized the card, and thought it was dropping ringtones and pics onto it.
When I disconnect from the pc, and try to view and manage the files between the memory card and the phone, the phone insists no card is installed.
I've removed and reinstalled numerous times. The phone still won't recognize the card.
Here's what else is weird: when I INSTALL the card, it tells me the card has been removed. If I actually remove the card nothing happens.
I put the micro SD card into the adapter and plugged it directly into the computer sd-card slot. It reads it and I can add/remove files from it.

        Hi adagioinb,
This memory card issue is very strange! I understand that this a fairly new phone; however, I'd like to recommend doing a factory reset to clear any potential system errors. Please follow instructions at this link http://goo.gl/QSnVl to perform hard reset, and test. Keep us posted.

  • Comp won't recognize Mini DVD-RW

My computer won't recognize mini DVD-RWs using my external DVD drive (Plextor PX-716UF). It will recognize mini DVD+RWs. Plextor's support told me that the device is picking up the disc, it is the mac that is the problem. Anyone know of a fix?
Please help, my newborn baby's videos are on these discs.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The first question is, how was the DVD-RW formatted? Was it formatted on a Mac? If on a PC, was it formatted ISO-9660, or UDF?
If the latter, you may need to get http://www.softarch.com/us/products/rdvd.html
    to read the disk.
Based on this website, it looks like they are 5 years behind the time and haven't heard of Mac OS X yet:
    http://www.plextor.com/english/products/716uf.htm
Verify with them it usable by 10.3. A firmware update may be needed.

Installed 8gb RAM on mac mini model A1347 but it won't recognize past 4gb, any way to fix this to recognize the full 8?

    What RAM did you buy?
Try reseating the modules, they need to be pushed firmly into the slots before tilting them down into the clips.
