Gigaworks 750 speaker wiring sucks

I would like to upgrade speaker wire to quality 6ga.
Is there a way to accomplish this?
I want to ceiling mount the satellites and run the wiring thru the attic to a central junction panel.
Unfortunately the unusual configuration of RCA to spring clip means I have to manufacture the wiring myself.
What a headache!
I am seriously considering returning this system to Creative Labs for a refund because of it's proprietary configuration.
The Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 system is much easier to work with, not overpriced like the 750, with comparable sound quality.
Any ideas anyone?

Hi deepblu
There are several ways to do what you want. I have all ready done it.
You can run the 6ga wire through the attic, on the speaker side just strip the wire and attach it to the speaker, make sure you mark the polarity on the wires so you can keep them in phase.
On the amp side you have at least three choices, one would be to splice the existing Creative wire to your 6ga going to the attic, the second would be to solder RCA connectors onto your 6ga wire then just plug them in to the amp. The third would be to cut the Creative wires to about 6" then solder spring clips on them the connect your 6ga wires to the spring clips.
You must make sure of the polarity, I use some red spray paint to mark the ends.
All the parts you need are availble at Radio Shack and many other places.

• Creative Gigaworks S750 speaker placement

Hey Guys,
As I get deeper into how to improve the sound on my Gigaworks S750 I'm starting to experiment with proper speaker placement.
So far, I have the four floor stands for the side and rear channels.
And going by the book I have the side channels slightly past and behind where my ears are, and they are pointed toward each other, and not directly at my ears.
The two rear speakers are both behind me, but pointed straight toward the front of my room, and not directly toward my ears.
Is this how they are supposed to be? Or should the sides be right at my ear level and right to either side of my ears? Same with the rears? Should they be angled in toward my ears at my seating position?
The diagram in my manual doesn't seem to indicate that the speakers get angled toward the listener except the front center above the monitor.
But other sites all seem to want the speakers angled at the listener, unless these Creatives are doing something different to create the surround sound field?
Here's an industry diagram vs. the Creative manual.
Creative diagram for Gigaworks S750, unfortunately I can't scale it up larger, but refer to page 6 by scrolling down in the manual located at the link below.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/14711901/C...ks-S750-Manual
So which is the most optimal for my speakers? I'm using option A for my setup in the Creative Manual right now, but just want to know what I should be doing to have the sound setup correct for these speakers.

• Ideal power supply protection for gigaworks s750 speaker system

anyone please help me decide on what to buy to protect my gigaworks s750 speakers from power surges or instability.
actually, i'm confused with what to buy, AVR or UPS and what capacity, 500, 000 or 500 watts/va.. Here in our place, the power supply is not consistent that for such reason I feel the need to secure my s750 speakers, especially that it's quite expensive.
Also, does anyone know how much power (if i'm right, it's expressed in watts) the s750 consumes, assuming it operates continuously in one hour? Thanks in advance.

• Treo800w: Wifi + Speaker = Suck (with wifi hint that should go in the sticky)

Hi all! Posting my first problem on these boards I've been through two Treo 800w's (I actually LOST one almost as soon as I got it, argh). Both 800w's had this speaker problem, although I didn't put all the pieces together until last week (I had been operating under the theory that the original Treo was suffering from intermittant speaker failure, possibly due to a cold solder joint- took some time to see that both units had the same problem, and only when wifi was on.)
When wifi is on (connected, unconnected, doesn't matter- but it's worse if wifi usage is heavy)- the speaker output sucks rocks. Speakerphone? Can't understand the speaker. Ring tones/notifications/etc? Crackly, awful. Ask it to play music or video? It really sounds like the speaker is being physically damaged now, the distortion is so crackingly severe.
Turn the wifi off? The external speaker is sweet as pie. [Edit: That's overstatement. The external speaker still sucks compared to the one on my old free VX8300, but it's MUCH better than it is with the wifi turned on.] Connect the USB earphones that come with the 800w? Sounds beautiful, no distortion whatsoever, and it doesn't matter if wifi is on or off in this case.
In summation: the wifi card being on totally screws up the external speaker, and even if you have the volume set to minimum where you can't hear it, it sounds like that poor speaker is dying if it's asked to play any sounds. Does anyone have a fix? (I bet it's a hardware problem and there IS no fix )
Edit: I just played with this a little. I turned the WiFi off and put a movie on the Media Player. It sounds OK-ish. With USB headphones, it sounds fantastic. Turn wifi on, and USB headphones sound fantastic (unchanged). Remove the headphones and go to the external speaker, the sound is extremely loud cracks and pops that are much louder than the sound generated by the movie. (MUCH louder...to the point that you can't hear the dialogue and worry that the speaker is being damaged.)
Edit edit: Interestingly, if you turn the phone off or on while sound is being played, you hear similar audio artifacts. They only persist while the phone is going on or off- and do not linger after the transition, unlike the wifi hardware, which generates louder artifacts the whole time it's powered on.
Also, one hint that's not in the stickied FAQ (for users in urban areas, mostly): If you can't get your wifi to connect and everything is set right on both ends: The antenna in your treo sucks. That's the price you pay for it being invisibly small. It's a good tradeoff. Change the channel on your wifi access point to be as far away as possible from any other access point within reception range (If you have to pick, get as far away as you can from the loudest one). What I mean here is that you should get a laptop or a PC with wifi hardware, put it where you want your Treo to work, and find out what channel your wifi WAP is on, and what channel the WAP with the most signal strength is on. Set the channel of your wifi WAP to be as far away from the competition as possible. Channel 1 and channel 11 are common factory presets for 802.11b and 802.11g WAP's. I spent about three hours today trying to get my Treo to connnect to an AP it had been working fine with the day before... and as soon as I changed the channel to get away from an AP that was so soft the Treo didn't even list it (though my PC listed it at -45 dbm), it started working great. (To clarify, my wifi broke because someone put up a WAP that was far enough away that my Treo didn't even see it, on the same channel as my WAP.... and no amount of fiddling could fix it. However, changing my WAP's channel fixed it immediately.)

• XP x64, all surround speaker signals going to front speakers

Wanted to document an issue I found while trying to use my audigy 4 card with XP x64. Yes, I know you are probably looking at my spec at the bottom and asking why use XP x64. Or why after spending so much money on the pc, could you not afford a better sound card? Or why not use the on-board audio?
Well I am awaiting to upgrade the sound card until a few more HDMI enabled cards come to the marked this year. Also I wanted to play some older games that support eax (which my on-board audio does not support fully) and did not want to go through setting up the emulation stuff in Vista.
Anyway after getting the OS setup, I started looking at the sound setup and discovered that all but the two front speakers are not working. If set to 7. in audio console and windows audio panel then the signals to the side and rear speakers either don't work or come out of the front two speakers.
Odd I thought since vista, I am using on my another hard disk (I just select which HDD I want to boot from at boot), using the same driver version, the sound works perfectly (so not a hardware or cabling issue).
I tried drivers:
SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe
SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_8_000.exe
In that order. All gave the same results. Did the normal things like driver cleaning etc.
Then just for a laugh after hearing about old resolved issues with the drivers on systems with more than 4 Gb's of Ram, I removed some of my memory. And low and behold when only one? of the 3 channels of 2 Gb of memory is installed then it all works, full surround is back. But with 2 channels for a total of 4 Gb or 3 channels for a total of 6Gb of ram, I get this problem of only getting sound from the front two speakers.
When I get the time I will try installing XP x32 to see if it not being able to all of my memory will help. Will post if it makes any difference.

@Re: XP x64, all surround speaker signals going to front speakers& Same hell to me with my old Audigy 2 Value. Rear was redirected to front, and center was upmixed with front, all in 5. nati've mode. Stereo surround worked well although. In my old mobo, Asrock Dual Sata 2 had an option to disable the 4Gb ram detection. Although I had 3Gb, with this option disabled I only accessed 2,8 Gb, no big deal. I survi'ved. But with my new Asus M3A32-MVP there was no option to disable 4Gb detection, and for that, the issue is always present in XP x64.
It's driver compatibility with XP x64. That's all. Audigy driver can't handle it in XP x64. In Vista/7 is fixed, but not in Windows XP x64 Edition. I tried the same steps that you did, with the same results. XP 32 bit worked well, because it also didn't recognize the full RAM.
The funny thing is I contacted CL tech support and they said all worked well for them. Furthermore EAX effects doesn't wok either (check F.E.A.R. for example).
Sorry, CL tech support HAS TO fix this. I don't know why they have forgotten XP x64 users.

• Sound surround speaker problem

I have a new sound surround system. Everything was working fine until a couple of weeks after my husband ran the wires in the basement. Now one speaker does not work when connected to its current wire. It does work fine on the other speaker wire. Do we just need a new wire? If so, can I get it at Best Buy and will they know which one I need if they know info from the sound surround system? Thanks for your help in advance!

Have you checked to make sure that the wire is connected to the receiver? Are there any breaks in the speaker wired that goes from the receiver to the speaker? One thing you can do to check is take a double A battery and connect it to the speaker wire by the receiver, you should here the speaker clicking. If you do the speaker wire is fine and you did not have it connected properly into the receiver. If you don't there is a break or cut in the wire at some point and I would rerun that wire or a different one.

• A Challenge For You... (speaker probl

Greetings all,
I recently purchased an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. Installation went smoothly, until I hooked up my recently purchased Logitech z-560 speaker system (4.). The sound is GREAT... as long as you don't mind no sound coming from the right front speaker. I'll run through each of the steps I took while trying to find the problem, and then leave it in the capable minds and hands of the members of this forum - I'm just out of ideas.
Speaker Setup:
Speaker/Headphone selection is currently 4/4. Speakers. I have tried this setting synchronized and unsynchronized with the Control Panel, with no change in the problem. (Note: The problem also exists when I set the speakers to 2/2. - right channel plays through the subwoofer)

Digital output is currently OFF. There are no digital connections on my system. For now.

The Speaker Test window only shows the 4 satellites. The subwoofer is missing from the test window. When I run a speaker test, I get the following results:

Left Front - OK

Right Front - nothing from the right front speaker, but the test IS PLAYED (barely audible) through the subwoofer (!).

Right Rear - OK

Left Rear - OK

No subwoofer test.

Speaker Calibration - same results as above. The raindrop sound effects come through the proper speakers EXCEPT the right front speaker, which instead plays through the subwoofer. The subwoofer itself is missing from the calibration screen.

Bass Management - all settings are grayed out.

Bass Boost - currently DISABLED. No change in problem when it was enabled.

Surround Mixer Settings:
Basic Settings unchanged. No change in problem when any levels were altered.

Advanced: Speaker volumes are all at max. No change in problem when altered.

Creative Diagnostics:
All initial diagnostic tests pass.

Speaker tests result the same as mentioned above.

THX Setup Console:
Speakers set to 4/4. analog output.

Calibration - same problem, but with an additional hitch... only the 4 satellites show up (no subwoofer) on the speaker test screen, with the Left Channel noise coming through clearly. WHEN I SWITCH to right channel, the message "processing" comes up on the screen, followed by "NA". Switching to the rear speakers works properly. A few other notes:

On volume balance adjustment, I have adjustments available for the front left & right and rear left & right speakers. The subwoofer is NOT greyed out, but the box to adjust the subwoofer level is greyed out.

Equalizer is currently DISABLED.
EAX Console:
Audio Effects are DISABLED. No change in problem when they were enabled.

Karaoke is DISABLED. No change in problem when enabled.

CMSS 3D is currently DISABLED. No change in problem when enabled, regardless of which setting I used.

Note: When testing the speakers, the CMSS 3D setting suddenly disables itself and reenables when the test is complete.

Audio Clean-Up is disabled. No change in problem when enabled.

Time Scaling is disabled. No change in problem when enabled.

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro setup:
Card was installed and included drivers installed (5.2.6.402, dated Oct. 2003). Problem appeared. I downloaded and installed the latest drivers (.84.55, May 2005). No change in problem.

I did a "clean sweep" uninstallation following the steps provided on this forum, and reinstalled everything. No change in problem.

Logitech z-560 (THX-cert.) speaker setup:
I have tested all of the satellites and subwoofer separately to make sure they all work - they do.

Speaker wiring has been double & triple checked. No problems (beyond the one that this post deals with).

The subwoofer connects to a control box, which connects to the soundcard via a green & black cable. I have tried altering the cable connections to see what happens during speaker test. This may be totally useless, but here are the results:

Green Cable in Line (correct): Front Right speaker plays through subwoofer. Front Left OK.

Black Cable in Line 2 (correct): Both speakers work properly.

Green Cable in Line 2 (incorrect): Right Rear speaker plays through subwoofer. Left Rear OK.

Black Cable in Line (incorrect): Both speakers work properly.

M3D (phantom center channel) is disabled. When enabled, no change in problem.

Fade settings on control box make no change in problem.

Entire speaker system has been taken down and set up again. No change in problem.

I have done a pretty thorough search through the forums here at Creative and at Logitech as well, and have found no solution.
My sound is in your hands. I will place my system configuration info under my signature. Thank you in advance for all of your assistance.

Hmm, st 4. speakers do not have a dedicated subwoofer channel hence it does not show a subwoofer in the picture, with that said it is odd that the right channel only plays through the subwoofer. It is possible that there may be a jumper problem with the sound card, if there is a jumper area on the sound card that is for front panel headphone and mic connecters (for cases that have them). I'm not sure if audigys have them but I know onboard sound does, anyway there could be a jumper that fell out and could have caused the right channel to stop working to fix that just simply replace the jumper (could be any jumper). One way to tell for sure that its the sound card is to connect some headphones to the back and see if the problem is still there.

• Loss of sound with the Gigaworks S750 system

Hi,
I just recently purchased a Gigaworks S750 speaker system and I ran into a problem. Every-so-often, randomly, my entire system will just stop playing any sound. This last for a random amount of time (5 second to 30 mins). I've triple checked the wires and even taken the system down and re-set it up. I know it'ss not the sound card (recently purchased Audigy 2 ZS) and it'ss not the drivers (updated them many times). I know it'ss a problem with the speaker system itself as I split the signal from my soundcard out to both my headphones and my speakers and my headphones continue to work during the outages. When I plug my headphones into the jack on the control unit of the S750 during an outage, the sound plays through them. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

It turns out that I was wrong about one thing, once the USB port on the right side of my computer stops working for the US-122, it seems to shut down until I restart the computer. I thought that it worked after the US-122 went down and was unplugged because another device will receive power from the port when plugged in. It turns out that although the new device will power up, it won't be recognized by the computer. I appreciate any help or ideas. Thanks.

• Vista + XFI + 5.1 Speaker prob

Hi,I'd just like to ask whether anyone else is having issues with Vista + XFI + 5. speakers?Specifically, I'm having problem with the speakers not lining up with the sounds that windows gives in?control panel -> hardware & sound -> manage audio devices ->speakers->configure->test?My left/right,sub,back left/right don't match up (in fact, my back left doesn't seem to work at all). I haven't made any changes to the speaker wiring since upgrading to Vista from XP64, so I'm relati'vely confident its not a wiring issue......... Anyone else experiencing this problem, or have any advice on what I can try?I've tried the obvious, i.e. moving the 3 x plugs around at a time to get a matchup. Cheers,?Soulsearcher?

• Gigaworks s750 with a 5.1 card?

Hi all,
I have a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 (D880) card.
Can the Gigaworks s750 Kit work with this card or I must get a 7.1 card?
Tnk's in advance!
Bye
Phant

Phant,
The Gigaworks S750 speaker has a upmix switch by the volume control box that can help upmix 5.1 channel to a 7.1 channel effect so it should work with a 5.1 soundcard. Of cos if possible, I would still suggest getting a proper 7.1 soundcard to fully utilize a 7.1 speaker system.

• Re: Creative Gigaworks T3 Power Cutting Out AS WELL!!!!!

This is a response to the same fault on the gigaworks T3 as mentioned in this post here : http://forums.creative.com/t5/Speaker-Systems/Creative-Gigaworks-5--G550W-Power-Cutting-Out/td-p/430593?
hi! I am from New Zealand. I?just purchased?a set of Creative Gigaworks T3 for just DAY(the first day)! and I am encounter the same kind of problem mentioned in this post/topic . it Shuts off by itself or (power cutting out) . most probably would be the overheating cut off problem as well , all symptoms are the same as described this this post!
I cannot believe this is happening to the whole line of Gigaworks subwoofered speaker systems. I also have the Gigaworks T40 SII and are working mint. but seems like the subwoofered ones are the ones with this overheating cut off problem!!!!!
Man I trusted Creative for its quality of its products as I have always been Ultra impressed for the Creative Cambridge FPS2000 which I had own for the last 10 years until the remote switch became faulty 2 years ago (volume fluctuates), but thats acceptable for so many years of use!! they were the best ones and love them!?
BUT? I dunno about these current line of Gigaworks systems. they all seem to be faulty with this problem
do you think I should get a replacement or just get a refund IF I CAN.
a replacement might do the same thing?
cheers !!
ken

here is an update of what happened to my faulty Creative Gigaworks T3 system.
I returned it the next day the shop opened back from new years which is the Jan 4th, 2010 . I told them about the problem I was having and also printed out the dicussion from this forum on the Gigaworks G550W http://forums.creative.com/t5/Speaker-Systems/Creative-Gigaworks-5--G550W-Power-Cutting-Out/td-p/430593 . which I told them was the very same problems as discussed here and seems to be like a common fault or design problem of the gigaworks (subwoofered) series from creative!!
I was treated in a very bad and unhelpful manner from the store. and straight up. there is no refund!. and they seem to think I was lying about all this and making it up trying to get a refund ?!!
wtf I came all the way back (50km retrurn) waste my valueable time waste gas to muck about na I don't think so!? but to them I was a lier which had nothing better to do. " they say , you say its faulty, but We don't know" and they said , if the supplier say can refund then we will definitly refund... or even we test it out have problem, the supplier will have to test it again to confirm if there is a problem then to see if they will repair or replace. of course I wanted a refund as this a design problem and will happen again shortly!!! I had no choice but to leave it there , so I left it there on the 4th. anyway I was treated the worse I've ever been treated for any purchase at a store
week later. TODAY the 12th Jan. I received a txt message saying " this is xp computer warehouse, just 2 let u know ur creative speakers has been returned from the distributor as no fault to be found, n its ready 4 pick up "
of course there was no fault if it was tested for 5 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!! its the overheating problem after being used for over 2 hours or so. but I'm sure they know about this hard,. how can they not know if its happening all the time. they just can't be bothered, they would of just said "ah f--- it!!"
So i'm going back on sunday 24th Jan to get a refund as they have failed to meet the Repair/Replace or refund policy, if nothing works out then the last thing (which I really do not wish to do) it to Disputes Tribunal at the courts , a bloody hassle and a waste of f----- time! seriously. if creative would just sort it out or even open and fix it I'd be a really happy customer!
but for things that are going now , its definitly not right!
think about it before buying your Creative Gigaworks T3, just sharing my personal experience here , and it ain't good!
I'll keep you updated on sundays results.
what a pain

Very easy, water goes right through the earpiece mesh directly into the earpiece speaker. Suck it out, some do it with their mouth.
