Give back HDV-video to camcorder (MacOS X)

Now Premiere Elements 9 on MacOS (I´ve been using the german trial version) can´t give the HDV-video back to the HDV-Camcorder, this actual works only on Windows (written in the program-help).
Will there be a update in short time, so that this works in MacOS-version too?
(Final Cut Express does this, but can´t burn BluRays. I only want to work with one program. )
Thank You for answer.

There are now several Adobe representatives here, and maybe one can comment. However, it has been Adobe's policy to not disclose what is in the works, until it is released. In this case, there might be info that they can share - or maybe not.
Normally, when an update is released, the changes, fixes and additions are usually listed, but not until release, or immediately before.
Wish I knew, but we'll all have to just wait.
There was a Mac update just released, but have not seen a list of what was in it.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Hi, I can't figure out why I can't render on my timeline. I highlight the segment hit "Apple-R" and it gives me a weird message about "conforming HDV video...." and the bar goes as far as 60-66% and holds there forever. It never renders even partially.

Yes, I know. I have been working with HDV for some time. I am wondering why it doesn't render when it needs to.. the red and bright-green lines are above, and I've set the render settings such that ANYTHING I highlight and hit apple-R will render. But its not rendering at all.

  • *** Turning the "conforming HDV video" render OFF

I had to print some HDV projects back to tape, so on the advice of another person here, changed some settings so that the "conforming HDV video" stage was done before deciding to print the sequence to tape.
I'm finished printing my projects to tape now, and when I'm not editing a new HDV project, each time I press option-R to render, it says "conforming HDV video". How do I turn this "off" so that it will just render out like it normally did in the past?
    Thanks in advance..........

Hi, can you tell me how you got the printing to video to work. I´ve tried now for few days to output HD material from my project back to my tape. I have a Sony HVR Z1U Camcorder. The sequence plays well on my computer and my camcorder even starts to record but there is no picture transmitted to the tape.
    Where is the problem?
    Thanks in advance

  • How to play back AVCHD video files without jerkiness result?

Hi all, I have an iMac 27" 3.06Ghz as well as the new MacBook Air 13 1.86Ghz, and both have 4GB of RAM. When I tried to play back AVCHD video files (*.mts) recorded from my Canon HF200 HD camcorder, the play back is always jerky and choppy. I have tried various software like Perian for QT, VLC, MPlayer Extended, all have the same result. However, I can play back other 1080p files like MKV and MOV just fine.
Is the jerkiness problem that I am seeing due to underpowered hardware? or is it I am not using the correct software? Note that I am not trying to edit HD videos, I just want to be able to play them back smoothly. I can play the same files on Windows 7 natively without any issues.
I am curious if any of you have the same problem. Please help!
    Thanks in advance.

    Swaza,
Just thought I would jump in and share some experiences with .tod and .mod files.
I too have the JVC GZ-HD7 camera and I can confirm that the new version of the MPEG-SC 1.93beta will open and convert .tod to .mov for use with iMovieHD. I am not sure that the files can be used with iMovie08 since I have not tried, but it will work in iMovieHD just like any other qt or .mov file import.
Also, you can use the QTpro plugin that came with the camera (should be on the CD as the only MAC software available.) This will allow you to open the files in QT and convert them to any other format needed. This plugin unfortunately does not allow QTpro to open the older .mod files of previous JVC cameras. For that you can still use MPEG-SC.
In my experiences over the last few weeks, having mistakenly dumped all of my footage onto my hdd as I used to do with my older JVC cameras, I am now stuck with 3 hours of footage on my HDD as .tod files. I have been struggling to find the right blend of codec type, compression amount, fps, and quality to convert these files in an acceptable resolution (1920x1080 full - another mistake since iMovie08 will not import this quality but will import the 1440 CBR mode.) Converting these files is a nightmare and has become a stain on my otherwise wonderfu lexperience with this new camera (It is an awesome camera despite what negative stuff the "Canon fanboys" are saying!) It takes an unbelievably long time to convert. And you will find that when viewing these files in QT either as .tod or even after converting to .mov, they will be jerky and stutter. I believe this is more to the fact that the files are just really huge. Playback inside of iMovie06HD was perfect for me though.
Hope this helps out and I hope others may offer solutions as to what codecs they are using and what settings they are using to keep the quality as high as possible when converting these files.

  • Jvc GR-HD1US HDV Mini DV Camcorder

anyone know if one can take a mini dv tape that has been shot on a jvc GR-HD1US HDV Mini DV Camcorder and import it into fcp with a sony hd camera?

    Welcome to the forums.
Nope...two completely different versions of HDV. The JVC uses Long GOP while the Sony and Canon use Short GOP (or is it visa versa?). You will need to play that tape back on a JVC camera or deck.
Interestingly, the footage shot with a Canon HDV camera can be played back on a Sony HDV deck...but only if it was shot 60i. 24F is not supported. But that is neither here nor there for you.
    Sorry man.

  • IDVD behaving strangely with HDV video from FCP X and FCP 7?

AVCHD exported from FCP X as ProRes 422 works perfectly in iDVD producing a 16:9 DVD.
HDV doesn't, even though QT Player plays it perfectly.
The odd thing is that 4 years ago, using legacy FCP my exported HDV videos had no problems being recognised as 16:9 by iDVD.
So why are FCP X produced HDV videos not recognised as 16:9?
P.S.  I know that iDVD never recognised DV in the 16:9 format but it always worked with HDV.
Incidentally, the old trick of opening it in QT Pro and changing the frame size to 1024 x 576 does not work!
Even stranger, I have just opened the HDV clips in FCP 7 and exported them as a QuickTime Movie.
iDVD plays them back in the correct aspect ratio but look at the effect  .  .  .  .  muted colours and green patterns all over.
This never happened in the past!

I mentioned several problems so I don't know which one you are referring to.
After experimenting I found some workarounds.
To cure the squashed image I created a ProRes 422 preset in Compressor 4 with a frame size of 1920 x 1080 and exported from FCP X using Compressor Presets.
Everything now works perfectly except the encoding seems to take  longer.
I got rid of the moire pattern when using FCP 7 by exporting as ProRes 422 1920 x 1080.

  • Having trouble exporting my HD footage back to video.

I shot my project on a Canon XH A1 in the 24F mode. The only way I was able to capture in FCP 5.1.4 was to use the 2:3:3:2 pulldown. My compressor settings are as follows: HDV 1080p24. For some reason my video playback is grayed out, so that I cannot stream directly back to video. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it due to the pulldown, and if so, is there a pulldown removal? Any thoughts would be most appreciated....
    Thanks

    #25 HDV external Monitor Viewing
Shane's Stock Answer #25 - HDV external Monitor Viewing
To view HDV on an external monitor you are going to need to purchase a capture card, like the ones Decklink or AJA offer. They will both play out HDV in real time. The catch is that you cannot view this on a regular TV or NTSC monitor. Since this is HD, an HD monitor will be needed. HOWEVER, both cards are capable of downconverting the signal so that it can be displayed on an SD monitor. This won't be color accurate. www.aja.com www.decklink.com
HDV cannot be played out of FCP via Firewire because it's Long GOP structure is too taxing on your processors to spare the system resources needed to drive an external monitor.
The best option you have is the Matrox MXO...$1000. This coupled with an Apple 23" display gets you color correction quality...but, it isn't compatible with COLOR yet. www.matrox.com
And there are the Decklink Intensity and Intensity PRO cards as well. www.decklink.com

  • Conforming HDV Video

    Hi All,
I have composed around 3 dvds from Final Cut pro over the last couple of months. I am having problem with rendering. Before it was not taking long, I must have changed something in the settings as now when rendering it is coming up with conforming hdv video... can anyone help how I can get back to rendering quicker?? thanks

    100% wrong.
What you changed is the following:
Sequence>Render All> Full. Uncheck it and when you render, you'll no longer get that Conforming HDV Video message.
While DUCKY64 might have turned that setting on accidently, you do understand that this kind of guidance is of limited value for those who output to DVD, right?
As mentioned in the Final Cut Pro 6: Working With High Definition and Broadcast Formats manual, an HDV timeline must be conformed prior to output. That includes export to QT Movie, the most common way folks get HDV media to Compressor (or any other encoder) in order to create .m2v files.
Beside that, for all types of codecs, not just HDV, the (Dark Green) Full RT media must be rendered in order to be exported via the QT movie route. If you don't render it prior to export, of course, FCP performs the render during export. So, not a whole lot to be gained for folks making DVDs.
It wasn't fair to say that Andy was 100% wrong. And resurrecting what is, considering the traffic on this forum, essentially a dead thread to make that statement wasn't cool.

  • HELP NEEDED CAPTURE DV FOOTAGE WITH HDV VIDEO CAMERA

I'm trying to capture DV video footage I've done years ago with my Sony DCR-HC40E PAl into FCP version 6. with my new camera HDV video Sony HDR-HC7 1080.i/mini dv so I can capture it into FCP but it's jerky, An yone know the setting for both the HDv camera and FCP to get the footage perfect as the rginal video.
    Cheers

From the FCP menu bar: Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup > DV-PAL > OK. (Use DV PAL Anamorphic if you shot wide screen).
Menu bar once more: Sequence > Settings > Set Sequence Preset > OK.
That camera should detect the DV format tape and playback with the correct settings automatically.
All you ned to do is connect it via FireWire and capture.
For everything else, here's the manual for that camera: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/HDRHC5.pdf

  • How can I give back an iphone found in Spain?

On september I found an Iphone 4, with an Orange Sim card into the water at Cala Macarrella, Menorca.
I did call Orange Spain, I sent an email to Orange Uk with the phone data and my contacts in order to give back the iphone to the owner but I did not succeeded. I went to an Apple Genius bar in Milan, they checked the iphone and they told me that they have the contacts of the owner but for the privacy policy they could not give me the data. I was told also that the owner subscribed an Apple care protection plan.
I suggested Apple to send my contacts to the owner but this also was not possible. The last chance they give me was to call the Apple care center.
I did call 3 times but I was not able to speck with an operator (maybe the option 6 of the calling sequence is not interesting for Apple).
I hope that the guy who lost the iphone read this message.
    [email protected]

Please suppose that I found it somewhere and it was working.
I did not ask Orange and Apple to give me the owner 's contacts but I authorize them to give my contacts to the owner. How they can invoke the privacy policy in this case?

  • Playing mp4 audio gives error message "Video can't be played because the file is corrupt"

Playing a particular mp4 audio file directly from a website link gives error message "Video can't be played because the file is corrupt". However other mp4 audio files from this same website do work correctly. What can I do to get all the the mp4 audio files to play directly from the same website? I must have the correct plugins, etc. since the other files play. This file is not playing from YouTube, is it on the website.
    Thank you for your help.

What is the link to the site and file in question?
MP4 files should be handled by Firefox itself, not a plug-in.
    # Click the ≡ Menu Button and choose Add-ons.
    # Click Plugins.
    # Set every plug-in to "Never Activate".
    # Try loading the file again. Is there any difference?
