Give Image Another Life: Enhance and Retouch with Photoshop

In this reign of Photoshop, almost all professional images have to have some experience of glamour enhancement or retouching before they are published. The purity of real reflection in camera is not always able to satisfy the demand. Images are not only ornamental now. They became essential and inmost part of a particular communication.
Image retouching is not about changing an image meaninglessly or playfully. Or, only ‘good looking’ begets no good if it doesn’t serve the purpose. The first thing is to reveal the storyline that you are going to tell through the image. Your image must talk in favor of the goal. Again to say, be aware of futile beauty. It may be dumb before your viewer.
Observe the image thoroughly. Find out the ways to make it more expressive for a better story. Find out the key parts to put expression. Think about a human face. Where the key parts are? Eyes, lips and hair, bodyline. And What their expressions are? Look, smile, hair-dressing, gesture. Work on those and try to make photos good to better and better to best.
Retouch the dullness, wrinkles & spots: By thorough observation try to find out the dullness and spots. The better help you will get by enlarging the image. Then you can examine part by part, meticulously. Remove the spots; repair the wrinkles; but be careful with the dullness. Retouching of dullness is very intricate and involves experienced eye and arty mind. Don’t blunder here with much color and brightness. Never sponge or dodge it unnecessarily.
With best care and intelligence an artist can enliven an image with another life. It will express more than its physical appearance and of course, soon you will get enthusiastic feedbacks from your clients and viewers.

To rule out the software, see if booting from an installer DVD shows better color.
Swap the cables and check the connections.
Then call your hardware support provider.

Slideshow Image Order of Go AND Problem with Sizing an Accordion Panel

SLIDESHOW Is there a way to set the start, middle, and end in a slideshow? I have tried arranging the position of the triggers (nothing happened); and moving the targets in the layers panel (again, nothing happened). I would like the slideshow to begin and end with specific slides.
ACCORDION PANEL Will not allow me to size it smaller than 962 pixels. The content area of the accordion panel is filled with one slide show per panel or tab, and I've checked all of the elements within the slideshow to make sure nothing exceeds 960 pixels. Nothing I can find exceeds 960 pixels, but when I remove all the elements from the content area, BOOM, I can make the panel any width I want.

No, Mylenium, you are definitly wrong, You can choose any image order you want within slideshows:
1. Make thumbnail temporarily visible and drag the thumnail to the position you want.
or
2. Identify the slides in layers panel and drag their panel entries to the position you want.
Accordion panel:
You can choose whatever size you want – even with a slideshow within:
You have to make sure, that all element of the slideshow (caption, prev, next, counter) fit within the accordion panel. And – since the single accordeon panels don’t allow individual sizes – you have to make sure, that the content of every(!) accordeon panel does not exceed the size you want.

Finding photos and editing with Photoshop

to locate a photo in iPhoto library I use Spotlight to search for it - why doesn't iPhoto show in the info window the path to the selected photo? Is there a quick way to locate a particular photo in iPhoto library?

You set up PS to be the external editor in iPhoto's preferences.
Once you set up PS there, you can control click on an image in the library and choose any of the editing options: edit, edit in window, edit in full screen, edit with PS.
If you edit with PS make sure to "save" the image with the same file name and flattened. Do not "save as" unless you want to save a layered file with a different name to a location other than the iPhoto Library.

How to save transparent background images to have transparent background thumbnails with Photoshop 2014?

In old versions of Photoshop there was a feature that made thumbnail images have a transparent background. I'm a CC member using Photoshop 2014 on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.4 and every thumbnail of a transparent background image I've created in Photoshop 2014 appears on my desktop with a solid white box background that has a thin black outlined box inside of it. How do I save the transparent background images I've created in Photoshop 2014 so they will appear on my desktop as thumbnails with a transparent background? I'd like to continue to be able to replace the default background-less folder icon that that appears on files with transparent background thumbnails to customize my files as I use to do with older versions of Photoshop.

If your layered document has a Photoshop background layer it visibility need to be set off when saving a PNG or Gif file for Photoshop background layers do not support transparency.
Thumbnail may be a bit more complicated than you think. I do not use Lightroom, and only occasionally use the bridge. I believe Lightroom and Bridge keep thumbnails they develop for image files in their library databases and caches. Other programs do not have acces to these. RAW Files and Image files have Jpeg previews stored in then. I believe most application use these previews jpeg to create thumbnails. Jpeg format does not support transparency.
Icon on the desktop are not always thumbnails some are embedded icons in application modules other are icon in dll these may well have transparency. However image file on the desktop have generated thumbnails. However you can create a shortcut for an image png file and create a icon with a transparent background for the png file and change the shortcut's icon for the png file to the transparent ico file you created for it.
Also many Photoshop release ago an Adobe module created Thumbnails for image files in Windows File explorer and most likely system file dialog. Adobe stopped supporting that stating Microsoft changes how windows works.
Today I use FastPictureViewer Codec Package to generate image thumbnails for image files including RAW and PSD files in File Explorer and system file dialogs.
I don't use a Mac don't know what available for your Mac.

You can change your AppleID/e-mail address. In iTunes on the Menu Bar go to Store/View my Apple ID. It'll take you to your account page in iTunes. Where it says Apple ID(your e-mail address) there is a link to edit that information. It shows your current e-mail and password/verify password. Below that is a link to change your security questions and other Apple ID details appleid.apple.com.
On that page it says if you change your e-mail address it'll send a verification e-mail to that address.. and that new Apple ID/e-mail address will be used to access all Apple services(iTunes etc)

Lightroom 5 History and Interface with Photoshop CC

I have two questions;:
I understand Lightroom 5 does not change the original image; instead it maintains a delta-like file within its catalog. When, in Lightroom 5, I select 'edit in Photoshop CC' and make changes then return to Lightroom 5 does Lightroom 5 delta those changes in its catalog or is the original image replaced?.
Also, in Lightroom 5, when I go back using 'History' and find a version I like; how do I lock that in. That is how do I ignore/delete the most recent changes I no longer want?
Any help is appreciated.

You can go to the history step you want and make a small change like +1 clarity and then -1 clarity and it will get rid if the history steps above these steps.
Another way is to use ROB COLE's "Clear Top" Preset.
Create an empty preset called "Clear Top" by going into develop and hitting the + button in presets and when the dialog opens clear ALL the checkboxes, name it Clear Top, and then hit Create.   Find the" Clear Top.lrtemplate" file and open it in a text editor and change it to look as follows.

The id and uuid will be different so leave them alone.   I you created a truly EMPTY preset, the only thing you will have to add is the
NoEdit = true          line.
save the edits to the same file name and reload lightroom.   Make sure ONLY the above code is in the listing although with different id and uuid numbers so you won't be applying other settings.
From now on, you can just hit the "Clear Top" preset and it will clear all history steps above the one you have chosen. This is my most used preset!!!!    Thanks to ROB COLE for this idea.

Change image from 300 to 72 dpi with Photoshop elements 13?

Want to buy an image for a Kindle cover which is only available in the size required by Kindle as a 300 dpi image.Can I change It to 72 dpi with my Photoshop elements 13?

So, on a copy I made of the image I want,I did go to "file", Then "save for Web", and made the long size 800 pixels, and saved that as JPEG..
But in that particular window, I didn't see "Constrain proportions" anywhere.
Yesterday,with that image, I did go "image" and then "resize", and did have checked "constrain proportions". That is, I'm presently working with a resized image, that includes a few text inserts and one simple custom shape..
But do I have to start with a fresh, Unedited image?

Save transparent background images to have transparent desk thumbnails with Photoshop 2014

I need to create new desk images with a transparent background. Whenever I try I get a white background. How can I create a transparent background?
Are there any other Adobe 2014 apps that will save transparent backgrounds?

That is a normal response when saving jpg files. Confirm thet effect with Tif, Psd and Png and if you are coming up with a white background when saving a file with a transparent background it may be time to reset Preferences for a possible remedy.
To reset Preferences:
If Photoshop is already open on your screen, close it (Quit). Then hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and start Photoshop.
A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to delete the existing Preferences file (the "Settings"). Click Yes in the dialog box. The existing Preferences file will be scrapped and a new one will be created.

How to print Photo layouts and Collages with Photoshop CS4?

I just downloaded PhotoShop CS4 trial version and comparing it to Photoshop Elements 6. I noticed that there are no ways to print photo packages nor photo collages in CS4 ! The only thing CS4 can do is to print one photo at the time. Adobe Bridge only allows to output PDF photo layouts without any control on the output.
Can somebody let me know if i need to purchase an Adobe Photoshop CS4 add-on package to be able to print photo packages/layouts and also create collages, or i have to stick with Elements 6 ?

I have searched all over the Photoshop forums and never found anything about creating collage in CS4 !
I have contacted Adobe in the last two evenings and the only thing they done were to transfer me back and forth between the Sales and service department and nobody were able to help me out.
This is not a very good image they are projecting !
I am a photograph and a very big PhotoShop Elements user, i downloaded the trail version of CS4, apart from a few added features, i have to say that PE does most of the work i need.
But i still need to convince myself if i want to jump in the CS4 world !
The only stopper for me at the moment, is printing and collage and CS4 seems to be lacking these features.
Instead of directing me to the forum, would you know the direct answers to the following questions:
1- Can i produce JPG format photo collages with CS4?
2- Can i print photo packages / layouts with CS4 ?
Or
3- Do i need to purchase an add-on software package ?
The Adobe Bridge ''output'' menu that comes with CS4 is well done, but you only can make PDF or XML files and you don't have any control on the composition: totally useless for me !

Using iPhoto and editing with Photoshop Elements 4

I am new to Macs after many years using PC and I am struggling to set up my photo workflow. I shoot in RAW format and input into iPhoto from iPhoto I double click on the photo and which opens the RAW editor in Photoshop Elements. After making changes I open the file in Photoshop and then save as a TIFF.
My problem is I do not see the changed and saved file in iPhoto and if I double click on the photo again it opens back up in the RAW editor not as a TIFF.
Can any one point me in the right direction to solve this or is what I am trying to do not possible

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
What you're trying to do is not possible.
When you save as a TIFF you create a whole new file that needs to be imported into iPhoto anew. iPhoto will track an edit as long as you stay with the same file - so, edit your jpeg in PSE and use the 'Save' command and the change is reflected in iPhoto. However, you cannot Save RAW files, it's always a Save As... and so the resulting file has to be imported.

From the page you linked to, you need ACR 8.3 to open P7800 raw files. You probably just need to update your Photoshop Elements using Help / Updates. If that doesn’t work, then at least check what version of ACR plug-in you have using Help / About Plug-in / Camera Raw in case your ACR is new enough and something else is wrong.

XT 5900 and problems with Photoshop

Has anyone with an nVidia card had any problems working with the Photoshop program? I recently purchased the XT5900 VTD 128 card and have been attempting to calibrate my LCD monitor to use the Photoshop program optimally. The monitor is to be adjusted for black/gray and color gamma numbers that will allow one to work with and adjust digital photos that will closely correspond to final printed product. The Adobe Gamma utility simply does not work on my LCD monitor. I have talked with support at Envision (monitor) and MSI about problem with little success. Perhaps someone out there has encountered similar difficulties and has some suggestions/solutions. Thanks.

Friend I have the opposite experience. Working on my LCD monitor (and perhaps that is part of the problem) the great picture I produce on my monitor is not reflected in the printed product. Colors are washed out a little, contrast not correct despite perfect on the monitor. Have been working with others about this problem trying to decide if it's the monitor, the video card, etc. The printer (Canon) is properly setup, all heads are in alignment,etc. I also have Photoshop CS. Have tried to calibrate the monitor with the Adobe Gamma utitlity so this problem would not occur but the calibration is poor, the black/white and color target and gamma screens just don't end up the way Adobe says they should and I presume therefore is why the printed product is less than desirable. If you have any suggestions please pass them along. Will be away for a week and will pick up the thread then.

Pen and Touch with Photoshop CC Syncronization Problem

So, I just recently bought a drawing tablet to use while painting in Photoshop. It works perfectly for everything except when it comes to Photoshop. The program knows that I want to paint with the paintbrush tool, it repsonds, and it even recognizes the pressure I put on the tablet, but it doesn't do it in sync with the cursor...Whenever I use the paintbrush tool, the "paint" doesn't come out of the cursor, but up and to the left of it.
For example, If I were to try and put a single dot in the middle of the page using the paintbrush tool, I would move the cursor in the direct middle, press down, and the dot would appear towards the top left of where I touched.
I am mostly sure that this is NOT a problem with my tablet because I already updated the driver and I tested it out on every other program. The only time the problem occurred was when I went to Photoshop CC and used the paintbrush tool...every other tool in perfectly in sync with the cursor.
Something that I noticed about the program, however, is that whenever I am not in the Photoshop window, the cursor is in the normal place that I am holding it, but right once I click on my Photoshop window, it moves the cursor down and to the right.
I am not sure if this is a problem with the brush settings or something of that matter, but I know that it has nothing to do with my computer or my tablet.
Tablet is a Huion (cheap, I know...but I'm a poor college student)
Photoshop CC is the latest version, and I already tried reinstalling it with no solution.

I have the complete and most up to date driver. I checked three times and it told me that I had the latest possible driver.
I am using Windows 8 64bit, i7 processor, 8gm ram.
I have just the screen on my laptop, no external monitors or projectors.
I don't know about the calibration, I just set the tablet's "touchpad" size that I was using relative to the size of where I wanted it position and with the resolution of my screen (but I tried this and still encountered the problem with default settings just to make sure the readjustment wasn't causing the problem)
If there is a way to calibrate this tablet, I have no idea how. (The instructions are in terrible broken English and they make close to no sense when I try to read them anyway)
If it is a driver problem, I really don't know what would be wrong or how to fix it.
