Give me an E72 with a dual sim

My dream phone!
A nokia e72 with a dual sim.
Only a real traveller with business interest in multiple countries will know the true value of a dual sim phone.  I have been using nokia phones for over 15 years now.  I always carried 3 to 4 phones at any given time, until 2006 when I stumbled upon a chinese make dual sim touch phone.  It worked alright ( I mean it served the purpose) but the user interface was lousy, it had no wifi and couldnt sync my contacts.  And worst of all it just stopped working after a few months.  Then came Samsung D880.  A very good phone indeed ! but again no wifi.  So am currently using the D880 for my overseas trips. I have one etisalat sim installed permanently in the second slot of the D880 and I insert a sim slot 1 wherever I go. But I love my Nokia e71 and can not do without it, so I have a second etisalat sim with the same number installed in my e71.  So when I am in Dubai, I switch the samsung D880 off. and use my e71.  When I am abroad, I put my e71 in offline mode and switch on my D880.  Keeping y e71 offline, still allows me to access my emails thru wifi when I am outside my office or home.
I also looked at the new samsung touchscreen dual sim phone, but was not impressed.  No wifi ! and I hate using a stylus.
So until such time Nokia brings out a dual sim phone with wifi and all the other usual great features, I guess I have to stick to my samsung d880 for my travel needs.  And as for my e71, I am happy with it but will surely grab an e72 as soon as it appears in the stores.  I did a mistake of buying the N97 last month, got carried away actually, but after a couple of days of playing with the resistive touch screen I gifted it off to some one dear.  Don't get me wrong, the n97 is the king of smartphones as on date in the market, with its awesome features and 32 gigs of memory, but it simply is not for me.
Cheers

There is a very high demand for a Dual SimCard GSM phone. Many like me have to carry two mobile phones because of:
1. Mobile operation connectivity in different areas
2. Frequent travel domestic and international
3. Different business and personal numbers
4. Price of calling different mobile networks
5. Old phone number which needs to be gradually phased out
6. Support engineers having to carry bersonal and support mobile after office hours... etc
These are all compelling arguments for having products with dual sim capability and this perhaps why Smasung has launched 5 different dual sim models in a short time span.
I dislike samsung because of its usability and try to only stick with IPhone or Nokia when it comes to mobile phones.
India is a huge consumer base for mobile phones and a dual sim phone in my opinion can go a long way to increase the market share of apple.
Web search engines show a large number of search hits for dual sim phone and dual sim ghost cards. For travelers like me it has become a higher priority to choose a mobile phone with dual sim capability over camera and other features.

  • Apple should really come up with a dual sim card. Has anyone tried to use the dusl simcard adaptor?

I see many ads for the dual sim adaptor, also it is being sold on some flights. Has anyone tried one? Instead of putting better cameras on their iPhones, Apple should really concentrate on making a phone with dual sim cards ( without asking exhorbitant prices) which will make travelling so much easier.

    Hi raffettax,
Time goes by and I have no answer. There is lso no answer on Movistar Communities, the only one is really disappointing and is not given by a Movistar employee. An iOS beta tester told that beta 2 resolved the issue, but with beta 3 it stops working again .
Do you have any news about this issue?

  • Dual-sim phone suggestions for my mom

I am looking for a non-touch Nokia phone for my mother. She requests a phone that supports dual-sim so she can use it for both personal and work calls. I have read around a bit, and there's this term called dual-sim standby, and as far as I understand, it seems it is about dual-sim phones having to change from one to another when you want to use it for other than calling, like for example browsing or writing messages. And to not give her this confussion, I rather suggest a phone that doesn't need to be controlled whether using sim A or B.
So I am here to ask if you guys could suggest a Nokia phone that supports dual-sim with no dual-sim standby? Thanks in regards!
PS: I found some phones that supported dual-sim, but it seemed like the phone needed to be a dual-sim model before having the feature. So is it true, that when you find a phone mode it does not necessarily have dual sim capabilities?

I still feel that phone such as X1-01 being able to keep work and personal calls separate and see on what side call is coming in would be very useful to her; an added benfit is good battery life on this model.

  • Dual-SIM awareness into Connections logic [N8 with...

Would it be possible to get into some future update some kind of awareness of dual-SIM's?
Users like me with dual sim dont have data connectivity enabled on both sides. This means that when i'm out of WLAN reach my phone may suddenly start to repeatedly try to connect via 3G when the connection is in the default auto-connecting group along with the WLANs. To avoid the battery drainage i now moved the 3G to a manually activated group so the automatics wont think my 3G should be available also when it isn't! I can think of two ways -- either stop trying autoconnect after one failure (until SIMM side switched) or let use specify for which SIM side autoconnect may happen and for which not!
Also, often one sees 3G establishing even if WLAN is already connected (or at least connecting)!
And cant you somehow make ALL applications able to use all connections -- now there are apps that only knows 3G/GSM and, if lucky, the option Ask always.
It would also be great if all widgets would believe when i say i want Widgets offline. Now there seems to be always something, maybe java ones, using it (and the connections dialog doesnt give more than "weblets"!

The big improvement is to run the session off the PowerMac, use the PB as a node. As far as whether you are throwing money out the window... I can't answer. If you want OS 9, you'll need this - if you don't a newer Mac would be a better option, most likely. FWIW, my primary setup is a DP 1.25 PM G4 - with a C2D as a node. The PM allows you to pull tons of tracks.

  • Is it possible to use a single iPhone with two contact numbers via dual sim or an app?

Is it possible to use a single iPhone with two contact numbers via dual sim or an app?
This would be a useful feature for personal and company numbers but using one mobile, rather than carrying two devices or diverting calls.

Then go ahead and try it.  You'll find it's probably a load of crap.
You want 2 numbers, then use Google Voice or TalkaTone
Those are US based only Apps or numbers so no good. I won't be wasting money by just trying something either, especially because using a dual sim would mean purchasing another sim card on either pay as you go or monthly contact.

  • I have just pre ordered the new iphone 5 it didn't give me an option to tell them what carrier im with? will it come with a nano sim?

I pre ordered an iphone 5 this morning, (first time i have ordered from apple) it didn't give me an option to select a carrier? is this normal? will it come with a nano sim if it didn't let me tell them what carrier im with? i dont want to get my new phone and not be able to use it
    thank you.

They've created a new SIM for this phone--the micro-SIM.  Different SIM tray and all.  If you ordered from Apple.com selecting the carrier was step two of the process.
iPhone 5 confirmed to use nano-SIM, current SIMs not compatible.
The "Micro SIM" is too large to fit in the iPhone 5.

  • Urgent help with Nokia 208 Dual SIM

    Hi all,
I have a new Nokia 208 Dual SIM type RM-949 (English & Chinees).
I wish to install Hebrew on it but I can't find an appropriate firmware.
Does anyone knows if there's such version around the net?
Can I install the RM-948 instead? Will it support the Dual SIM function?
Is there an RM-956 version with Hebrew and if yes, can it be installed on this model (RM-949)???
    Please help.............. I'm stuck........
    Thanks,
    Shai.

    Hi,
I've checked today with our local Nokia care center and it seems like there's no such firmware that support this model that includes Hebrew language.
Only for single SIM you my find such version.
    Now what?
Am I stuck with this phone?
    Thanks,
    Shai.
The Dual-SIM version was specifically made for specific regions mainly for developing markets (esp in Asia-Pacific). Hence, language packs available are limited or made available only to those countries.

    Hi extreme1984
I have recently updated my N82 to v30.0.019 and have had no issues using a pair of 2G SIMs in a 13th Generation STK menu dual SIM holder, so I don't think latest Nokia softwares can be blamed for this unfortunately.

  • I have a nokia dual sims phone, with a rogers card...

i live in ny, but when i went to canada it says no service, and in the states its saying no service....what am i doing wrong... i couldn't even put minutes on in in montreal, with a voucher. i was suppose to get free minutes with the card, but that never happened either....i go to networking and they can't find one..i have a canadian phone number and address on the phone, so i should have been able to use it in montreal.

Can I ask what model is the phone and where was it purchased?
My first guess is that it's a non-US model
The US & Canada is on 1900 & 850 GSM bands, whereas India (where most Nokia dual SIM phones are sold) is 900 & 1800.
Therefore it might be that the handset is not configurated for North America.

  • IPhone 4S iOS 5.0.1 Dual Sim failure

    Hello,
First of all I want to clarify what I mean by Dual Sim. I am using the iPhone with this SIM from the first 2G model, and it was working perfectly.
It is one sim with two phone numbers (one forwards the calls to the other). This options is offered by the Romanian carrier Vodafone for business clients.
I am not talking about two phisical sim cards.
Starting yesterday evening after upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 on my iPhone 4S (bought in Germany) I can't really use the phone anymore, I hardly have any signal and nobody can call me on both numbers.
I changed the sim with a new one from Vodafone but had no luck.
The sim is working anyway perfectly on other iPhone models (3g, 3gs, 4) with a lower iOS version than 5.0.1.
I really hope Apple will issue an update as soon as possible because right now I have to go back to an older model in order to use my phone.
Any help and/or feedback would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Sebastian

    Hi Sebastian,
I do have a similar problem. I also use a dual sim that works on iPhone4 and iPhone 3GS perfectly. I obtain the dual SIM service from the Spanish carrier Movistar.
If I go to Settings > General > Phone > SIM Applications > Dual, I am able to see wich line is active, but I can not change from one to another. If I try to change the line, the phone loses its network service and I have to switch it off and on again to recover the network service and being able to talk, text and navigate.
With 3GS and 4 I could perfectly change from one number to the other one (Before I had a Nokia N97 and it also worked perfectly). With my brand new 4S (iOS 5.0) I do have to switch the phone off and on again in order to change to the line I want to use.
Movistar Spain has recognized there is an issue with iPhone 4S and dual microsim cards. They say  they are waiting for Apple to approve some kind of new version (I guess they talk about a new iOS version but I'm not sure).
I know there is more people at Spain using this service with Movistar and they are becoming really angry (using 4S with iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1), because this issue was reported more than a month ago. It's really frustrating having paid for such an expensive phone and suffering this kind of problems...
I hope Apple will give us a solution really soon.
    Regards.

  • Lenovo A916 Has Lost 'Auto-Rotate' Since Upgrade to Dual SIM/Dual Standby

When I first received this phone shortly before Christmas from a UK supplier, it did not operate with Dual Standby. Only rebooting allowed you to swap SIMs.
I have since been successful in updating the firmware build to A916_S1205_141013 which gives me Dual SIM/Dual Standby and is a lot less biased towards a Chinese user and is multi-lingual.
Google services are all there too.
My pleasure was somewhat dampened when I discovered that I can no longer 'auto-rotate' the likes of jpeg files in Gallery. I checked that the facility is turned on in Settings>Display. Apps which force a landscape format, e.g. Netflix work fine.
I loaded an app called Hardware Info which confirms that my phone has a 3-axis accelerometer, which I assume is how it knows which way up it is!
I have also used the ServiceIT app as mentioned in this forum. This confirms that my G-Sensors are working.
Does anyone have any ideas what else I could try to reinstate autorotate?
Incidentally, I got my stock firmware upgrade from www.needrom.com.
    Lenovo A916, KitKat 4.4.2, build A916_S1205_141013
    SIM 1 - Three 4G, SIM 2 - O2 2G
