    Tony,
Yes, I've installed a lot of software from Give Away of the Day.I've never encountered any malware or spyware characteristics from any of the GAOTD's I've installed.
The whole point of the site is to provide, for free, commercial software but only on a single day.
    From their FAQ:
    Is GOTD a trial?
Every program we give away is not a trial. We provide you with full-functioning registered version of software titles.
There are two points you need to remember:
        * you have to install AND activate/register the product according to instructions given in the readme.txt file attached to every GOTD package.
        * it should be done while the giveaway offer for the software is still on (within 24 hours).
Still we do not provide you with the lifetime license in terms of the fact that our package can be used to install the program on giveaway date only. It means that you will not be able to re-install the program after PC crash or install the program on another PC after the giveaway day is over.
I personally take the view that anything I download from GAOTD is a 'souped up trial' and wouldn't incorporate anything into a workflow unless I was prepared to purchase the product in the event of a failure of the GAOTD version. I guess, from the software producers point of view, making their product free for a single day is a marketing cost and they hope to gain business from click-throughs and personal recommendations.
Generally they have a video related GAOTD a couple of times a month. I post details here if I think it may be of interest to the PRE community. Video conversion software is quite a common item on GAOTD (although many are simply phone, portable media or youtube converters that may be of limited use). The one I posted yesterday looks to be a much more advanced converter - sadly though I don't have any HD clips to test it with.
Hope this helps to explain the GAOTD model more clearly.
Please note that I do not have ANY connection with GAOTD.
    Cheers,
    Neale

There is at least one way on each operating system (windows and mac) to rip your own dvds and then transfer them to itunes and finally put them on your ipod. A mac is the easiest of the two ways. If you have a mac, then you download a program off of the web called handbrake (just "google" >handbrake rip dvds< and its homepage should pop up or try <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://handbrake.m0k.org). Handbrake allows you to copy and convert your dvds to ipod format. On a windows operating system the most effective way i have found to rip my dvds is quicktime pro($25-$35). You can buy it at quicktime's website. It basically does the same thing as handbrake. I, myself, have simply converted some videos, like sports shows and commercials, to ipod format using itunes and both the video and audio worked fine.
if you have any ?'s just reply back
    I hope this helps!

Like the earlier Sothink giveaway (HD Video Converter) it seems very much designed for conversion into portable device formats (i.e. compressed video). No DV-AVI or HDV options.
May be useful for converting a problem clip to WMV, MOV or AVI for further processing.

  • What is the best, safest MXF video converter for mac?

I need to view MXF video files on my macbook pro. Wondering if anyone knows what is the best video converter to use for these files?

Hi, I just got one recommended to you. It is iOrgSoft Video Mate. It can convert camcorder footages like MXF, AVCHD, MTS, XAVC, MOD, etc to regular video formats like MP4, MOV, 3GP, etc. I usually it to convert AVCHD files from my Sony cam. I think it works fine for me. You can have a try using it to convert MXF files.

  • The best free mac video converter for iphone please?

So far i used to add my avi files to my itunes library on my mac using movie2itunes. then i would right click on the movies and choose 'create iphone version'. i was expecting the video size to go down as the resolution and screen size of the iphone is much smaller compared to the resolution of the original avi file and the screen size of my macbook. so for all reasons it had to encode lesser data into the new file. instead, it keeps the same resolution! and while the original size is a mere 300mbs for 60 minutes of videos the new encoded file is a 550 mbs!
so i think using itunes for video conversion is not a very smart way of utilizing space on the iphone. can u recommend me some good, preferably free, video conversion software for mac which is smart enough to convert movies (especially avi) to iphone format and also NOT increase the size, if not decrease it!
google gives a lot of results. so thought making a post would help me narrow it down. thankyou.
i have perian installed and also quick time pro.

Mpeg Streamclip is nice because of options and its free, but I would use iSquint. Its FREE and it converts in very nice quality, with basic options. Trust me it will cover your converting needs. But if you wanna download vids from Youtube and stuff, I would use mpeg streamclip too. Both together are a nice converint combo. I hope I helped:)?

  • Whats the best bitrate for VIDEO converting?

I'm trying to convert video files to fill WIDE screen 320 width X 240 height.
The default bitrate is 384. Should I make it higher or is this the best quality bitrate?
And for the frames it has 18 by default. Does anyone know also if that's good or could be highter?
    Thanks!

Please note that higher bitrate and higher frame/per second - will affect on performance.
Use settings that produce media that will play on your device model smoothly.
For the first step - try default settings. And after that - combine and check. Which settings are most suitable for
    your device.

What is the best current freeware video converter?

"Best" is fairly subjective... I use MPEGstreamclip

  • IPad Video Converter

    Hi
I just bought an IPad 2 yesterday and wanted to upload some videos of my newborn son on them to show family and others. The videos are in .avi and I know those are not compatiable with Apple products including the IPad. I saw that Apple has listed a couple but they are for Macs only and I have a PC. So my first question is do those (EM Total Video Converter or Tanbee) come in a PC version and where can I get that? Question 2 if not what is a good Video converter program and what setting should I use when converting? I dont want to take up all the space on my IPad but I also dont want bad resolution for my Videos.
    Thanks In Advance!

    Handbrake.
It's free, works great, has iPad preset and is universal(divx, xvid,DVD,etc).

  • OT: Miro Video Converter

This is a head's up to anyone looking for Video converters.  I had the misfortune of downloading the latest free Miro Video Converter. I was horrified by all the garbage software it attempted to install on my system. Nevertheless, I used the Advanced installation dialogue and DECLINED every software title I could.  Even so, Miro installed a very annoying piece of junk-ware called WebWidget which attached itself to every browser on my system.  It wasn't long before I was inundated with XXX porn ads.  Fortunately, I was able to uninstall WebWidget via my operating system's Control Panel.  But for the better part of an hour, this junk took over my browsers making it impossible to work on projects. Not too cool!
I might have had more tolerance if Miro's converter did a decent job of rendering OGV.  But alas, they were horrible.  And there were no advanced settings for boosting output to acceptable levels.  That said, Miro did an OK job at rendering MP4s and WebM.  Two out of three is what you get with Miro.  I can no longer recommend this product.

Just a quick re-visit to this topic and a shameless plug for OnlineConvert.com.
Online converter - convert video, images, audio and documents for free
I've been using this online file converter for audio & video with very good results.  There's no software to download & no adverts embedded into converted files.  The only caveat is that the FREE service limits  native files to 100 MB or less.
If you have really big files to convert, they offer premium services for a nominal fee

  • Xilisoft Video Converter Ultim

    Hi,
I have a CL Zen Vision: M 30GB with the latest EU firmware and am using v5.0.60 build 0625 to convert some videos that the Creative Media Toolbox Video Converter will not handle and am wondering if anyone has some tips on the best settings to use.
I am trying to replicate the 3 standard Media Toolbox profiles (Optimum (44Kbps), Good (764Kbps), Best (835Kbps)), but am not bothered whether I encode as AVI (with MP3 sound) or WMV (with WMA sound). However, most of the variations I have tried will not transfer to the Zen.
Other settings I am using by default are:
    Video Size: 320x240
    Frame Rate: Auto
    Aspect Ratio: Auto
    Same Quality: False
    Zoom: Letterbox
I am extremely computer literate (I work as a SysAdmin), but cannot get my head round CODECs! It never ceases to amaze me that I can have two seemingly identical files encoded with DivX / Xvid and each will give completely different results when attempting to play / convert them.
As further information, I have Windows XP SP3, fully updated and have cleaned my machine as far as I can from any CODEC packs, which were just causing me problems (I have tried the Combined Community CODEC pack, NIMO, XP CODEC pack and K-Lite, as well as the DivX and Xvid installations) so I currently have a (hopefully) clean machine from that point of view.
The only other thing is that I use WMP (I know, I know...) to play files on my PC.
Anyway, any help / advice would be gratefully received!
    Cheers,
    Charles

  • Recreate remittance advices for all payment runs of the day at once a day.

    Hello Sap Gurus,
Here we have requirment for remittacne advices , so please find below quey.
    1.      Run once a day and recreate all the remittance advices for all the payment runs of the day.
    2.       Convert this into PDF format and download to the LAN structure automatically.
    3.       This program should be scheduled in batch and have proper error handling to alert a user via email should there be a error in the download as we need to understand immediately if we donu2019t have all the remittance advices on the LAN.
Please provide valuable inputs for the customised program? and is this possible with customised program? or any standard SAP avialable for ths requirement.
    Regards,
    Raj

    HI,
You can create the same via a custom program with below steps:-
    (1) Fetch all the payment run IDs from table REGUV for a particular run date.
    (2) Then for each run date and run identification combination, call in loop Remittance Advice Printing Program (RFFOAVIS or RFFOAVIS_FPAYM) and it will generate the spool.
    (3) Then call the program RSTXPDFT4 to convert the spool into a PDF file and store on SAP aplication server.
Then you can have a interface from SAP Application server to your LAN to have the file transferred.
    Regards,
    Gaurav

  • Bing Animated pictures of the day won't run on firefox, picture is different. Why?

After a Firefox update, somewhere in the last 3 to 4 months when it comes up on my home page, which is Bing, if the picture of the day is a short video loop, which occurs 3 to 5 times a month, the video will not play. I have activated the control that says if a picture is a video, play it but this makes no difference. I have checked this out by running Internet Explorer, which also has Bing as my home page, and the short video loops run. I have also noticed that if the picture of the day is a video loop, the picture on Firefox is a different view of the same photo that is on Internet Explorer besides also not animating. Why is this? The latest video loop on Bing was yesterday (February 11). It did not animate on Bing and is a different view of the scene.

Did you check the Bing settings for the home page?
    Videos and panoramas:
*Choose what happens when the homepage image is a video or panorama.
    **Play automatically
    **Don't play automatically
