Given ipod from someone best way to delete their music and add to my apple id

Have been given ipod from someone what is best way to delete their music and then sync to my itumes and apple id

Hi Caz0,
You might want to try to factory reset the iPod to wipe it completely. Here's a link on how to do it: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339
As far as I'm aware an iPod Classic isn't tied to an Apple ID, therefore all you need to do is factory reset the iPod, sync your music library and plug in headphones, and you're ready to go!
Good Luck,
Stefan

My oldest daughter recently bought a new ipod touch and gave her old one to her brother.  How do I unlink his ipod from her account and set up his own without losing the music and apps already on it?

Connect it to his iTunes library and set it up as a new device.  You should be prompted to Erase and Sync the iPod if his iTunes library is separate from hers.
Or head to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all Content and Settings.

  • If I buy a used Ipod Touch, how can I remove their music and add mine?

If I buy someone else's IPod Touch, how can I access their music to remove it and then add mine to it?

    Two ways:
    - connect to a computer with a computer with iTunes and restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
    - Connect the iPod to a computer or charger and on the iPod go to: Setting>General>Reset and tap Erase all content and settings. The above maakes it lke a new iPod.  For how to restore see:

  • The best way to organize your music and movies

Im not sure if this is fitted for itunes section or the mac osx section.
i was wondering what are your best methods for organizing your libraries?
im starting to get a fairly large collection of artists and albums.
here is my current set up in basic form:
The path is: MediaHD>Music>~Artists etc etc
i was thinking this might work too:
path would then be: MediaHD>Music>A>Artist etc etc
are there any advantages/disadvantages in iTunes with having extended path file names and is it easy to recreate/rebuild the library once its been changed?

When you rip tracks into iTunes, you have the option (in iTunes Preferences) to set it to "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library." If you have that option selected, just rip and iTunes automatically files the tracks into their appropriate folders. You never need to touch the folders; you can sort files and find them in just about any way you want through the iTunes app's interface.
I'm not sure what you mean when you refer to adding to your back up of music. Are you putting them on the computer then later copying them to your external hard drive? If so, you could just back up the entire folder on the external. (Not sure if you're using backup software, but that would be most efficient.)

  • What is the best way to delete MacKeeper?

I installed MacKeeper last year in an attempt to free up some hard drive space on my former hard drive. I now have a new SSD and have no need for MacKeeper. In addition, I see that this programme attracts a lot of negative press.
What is the best way to delete MacKeeper from my hard drive and Time machine?

Remove the "MacKeeper" crapware as follows. First, back up all data.
"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Applications from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Then a dialog will pop up asking why you want to uninstall it. You don't have to provide that information. Enter anything you like in the text box, then click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
Do not try to uninstall by dragging the MacKeeper icon in the Dock or the LaunchPad to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” "tune-ups," “accelerators,” “extenders,” “cleaners,” “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this kind of material is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.

  • What is the best way to delete applications?

I am told that my Mac came with everything I need in the way of programs for basic functions.  What is the best way to delete applications making sure there are no threads left in Library and other places?

Yes, but not always. An example of what I call "System" files/folders would be Quicktime or things like pre-installed print and scanner drivers. You have to be pretty confident to go rummaging through files in either /System or /Library. Most of the time there is no reason to be in there.
An example of a file that is in those system folders, that does not come pre-installed as of Lion, is Flash plug-ins. That gets installed in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
But your average App downloaded from the MAS, most of it's files will be in the User Folder   ~/username

When you export the videos out of iPhoto be sure to select Kind = Original.  Otherwise you'll just get an image file of the first frame of the video.

I don't know of any other way.
Proxy and Transcoded media can always be re-generated if the original files are in place.
If this question refers to your system drive then a BIG suggestion is to aquire a fast dedicated media drive.

What is the BEST way to delete an app on an iPhone 4S so it will NOT be added back when I sync with iTunes?

To completely remove an app and all of its data, do this: First delete the app on your phone, then in iTunes, under Library, click on Apps, right-click the app you want to delete & select delete, when prompted, move all files to trash, empty your trash. Connect your phone and sync. The app and all of its data will be gone.

There is none. Whatever you do to get rid of the older versions will inevitably do damage to shared components and other stuff of the new versions as well. That's just how it is with this approach... Uninstall the older versions, run the cleaner tool then reinstall CC 2014.

  • Best way to transfer my music from iphone to computer

Best way to transfer mu music from Iphone to computer.

Make sure you phone is logged into the Apple ID you used to purchase this music in Settings>Store.  If it isn't, tap the ID shown, sign out, then sign back in with the ID you used.  You should then be able to see your purchased music on your phone in iTunes>Purchased>Music.  Also be sure you computer is auhorized for this ID in iTunes>Store>Authorize this computer.

  • I just bought a 5th gen Ipod from someone and now it wont turn on/boot up

I just bought a 5th gen Ipod from someone and restored it to factory setting I then uploaded my music to it and ejected it but may have unplugged it to soon. Now the ipod just keeps trying to turn on but doesn't and it won't respond to manual reset has anyone had this problem and what was done to fix it? thank you for your time I would really appriciate it.

The 5th gen iPod "classic" was the first "video" iPod.  It's video capability is more limited, and supported video resolution is lower, typically only 320x240.  Even if the video is standard def (SD), and not HD, it is probably at least 640x480.
Also, current iTunes Store video content (such as TV shows and movies) uses DRM (copy protection).  The 5th gen iPod was designed before the iTunes Store started selling video content (as it does now); I don't think it supports the DRM technology.
If you have video content that is not DRM'd and plays in iTunes (such as video podcasts), you may be able to use the convert command in iTunes.  Select the item on a list in iTunes.  From the iTunes menu bar
File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version
That version may play on your iPod, so iTunes will sync it.

  • When I try to sync photos, I followed all the steps, picked one folder.  When I hit "apply" I get this error message: Are you sure you want to remove 30 apps from iPad.  This will delete these apps and their data from the iPad. What have I done wrong

When I try to sync photos or music, I followed all the steps, picked onle folder, not the whole library.  When I hit "apply" I got this message:
Are you sure you want to remove 30 apps from iPad.  This will delete these apps and their data from the iPad" What can I change to just download the photos and not interfere with the apps?
(By the way, the memory is not even one quarter full)
Thanks for your help - Pat

I have the same problem.  I updated my mac to 10.5, which then had me update apps like itunes, etc. then it wanted me to sync my purchased music to my ipad before i updated the ipad...which worked ok. then when i was syncing the photos i got the same message when i hit "apply" asking are you sure you want to delete the 12 apps from the ipad -  clicked "no" and brought me back to the original screen. Got the same message when trying to move them from the hard drive to the ipad.  WHat is going on and how do I correct this? Thanks

  • Best way to handle all erros and get performance(OCI)?

    Hi there,
Im using[b] Oracle Call Interface to execute batch file process. But I have got a problem.
I set ExecuteBatch with the same number of commit time, i.e: 100, 1000 or just 10, for thats ok.
    ((OraclePreparedStatement)globalStmt).setExecuteBatch(commit);
And I handle executeUpdate to catch all SQL Exceptions. I made some proposital files with invalid erros but when I handle "executeUpdate" its doesnt get the corrent error line, and puts out another line that is corret.
    ((OraclePreparedStatement)globalStmt).executeUpdate();
Check in the code I concluded that its always get the same sequence of commit number like the error line. For example, I have between line 1 - 50 a line error, this line is 31, but I set the commit time for 50, its show me that line errror is 50 wherever 31. But if I put setExecuteBatch with '1' so it can handle corret lines erros, but the system performance bring down. What is the best way to handle all erros and keep the perfronace?
Sorry for my english, I am not native. Thanks all.

So by doing this, everything will transfer and look exactly the way I have it on the old machine?
That is correct, if your old machine is Intel based after using MA the new machine will look just like the old machine. Here is information from Apple on MA, I'd recommend looking it over.
My recommendation is to answer NO when setting up the new machine when it asks "Are you moving from another Mac?" The reason being let you new machine get set up and run for a couple of hours to ensure it's fine. Then launch MA and follow the prompts, it's very easy and if you use a fast connection like FW it should go smoothly.
    Regards,
    Roger
