[Given up] How do you get 'show new forum topics'?

There is 'Show recent posts', but I'm interested in *topics*. Any ideas? Am I missing sth?

The way I do it is rather unDijkstraish, but I'm stupid and lazy and it works for me. I simply bookmark the newest topic f.e.

and next time I want to check the forums for some new topics, I enter the next urls manually

I subscribe to topics I find interesting and skip the rest.
When I get a page that says "Bad request. The link you followed is incorrect or outdated." I bookmark it and remove the previous one (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=85300 in the above example).
Lather, rinse, repeat.

Um, not quite. By "new" I mean "the ones I haven't seen yet", so 'Show unanswered posts' != 'Show new *topics*'.
I want to know what's going on on the forums, did sb posted sth interesting or maybe I can help sb. I've read all the topics (the 'titles') and subscribed to some of them.
Now I'd like to be notified about new *topics* only, because the old ones I have already sorted out: either I'm interested in the discussion and subscribed or I'm uninterested and would like to have a way to disregard them automagically.
The search function is of not much help here.

I need to be able to create multiple lines in a description of an iCal event. In the past, I used control return to get a new line. In Mountain Lion, this does not show up as a new line, once the event has been saved. It merges all of the text onto one line and creates new lines as the space dictates. How can I force new lines in the event description between the words that I have chosen?

I followed the instructions in the help article, but it still didn't make my preview windows come back. Am i just doing it wrong or do i have a different issue? I just installed kapersky anti virus as well but i dont see any options that would affect the preview tabs. What else can i do?

Yes.When you click on the new tab plus sign, there are preview windows for most used websites. Mine have all disappeared. The silhouettes are there, but they will not populate with any websites. There is a help topic about it, but I followed the instructions and no joy, it didn't work.

All domain names must be purchased from an domain name provider. GoDaddy.com is just one of many providers.
Once you purchase your name and publish the site you can set up MobileMe to use that domain name in one of two ways:
1 - using the CNAME feature of MobileMe. These documents describes how it is done:

If you are Manually managing music updating your iPod, you need to delete the songs on the iPod and then re-add them from iTunes.
If you are auto-syncing, just resync the iPod.

How do you get a new file in a shared folder to inherit permissions

I have a shared folder that I share with a co-worker and having trouble with the permissions for new files/folders.
When he creates a new file or new folder, the permissions for that file/folder are set as read only for myself. The parent shared folder is set at "Read/Write" for both of us.
Is it possible to control the permissions for new files/folders?

Actually, that property used to go in the entry for that sharepoint in the "NetInfo" database, and really only worked properly when 'afpuse_parentowner' was also set. The .plist file controls the behaviour of the afp server as a whole, not that of individual share points.
I'm not sure what the "DirectoryService" equivalent is - a lot of the things have similar names but differ in "case", but some things are completely different or absent.
Unfortunately, I'm not equipped to test these things myself but changes can be made using 'dscl', or possibly by editing the flat files directly in a manner similar to what is described here:

Unfortunately Apple Discussions are only available in the english language. You can view the rest of Apple.com in different languages by going to the home page of  and selecting the language you'd like from the menu located at the bottom of the home page.
You may also consider using a translator. Just google french english translation or similar and copy/paste the discussion to have it translated respectively.

You can right click one tab and choose "Close Other Tabs" to close most of them.
Set the pref browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing the browser and make a close button appear if only one tab is open.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

Try updating it on your computer. If you get a message that your iPhone is up to date then you actually have an iPhone 4, not a 4s.

I am new to java programming. We have a project we are working on that uses decimals. Say you want to enter $12.00, when you click the calculate button it shows $12.0. How do you get the second 0 to show? Any help appreciated. The variables are a double and labels are .setText using a Math.round.

Your fan(s) will run at high speed (i.e., loudly) while video is playing, and you can't get around that.
If your fans are not slowing down within 2-4 minutes after CPU- and/or GPU-intensive usage ends, and the application that was showing the video is still running, Quit that application. (In fact, if you're accustomed to Windows, you may not realize that simply closing a Mac application's window does not quit the application. You still need to use the Quit command in the application-name menu. There will always be a bright dot beside or below the application icon in your Dock for each application that is open.) Quit the ones you aren't using, and see whether that allows the fans to slow down without restarting the machine. If that doesn't do the trick, reset the SMC:
