Giving background to my picture

Hi there,
I need to put a background to a picture. The background is also a picture. How can I do this? Also, could you tell me how to make the background picture more transparent?

Open both pictures in Photoshop.
Then, with the Move tool selected, drag the knight picture into the certificate picture. It will be on a new layer.
With the knight layer selected press Ctrl+T. Press shift to keep the proportions and pull a corner handle inwards to reduce the size. Drag the resized knight to the place where you want it.
In the Layers panel, reduce the opacity to 25%.
The certificate looked pale, so I darkened it up a bit.
Note: to keep the layers for later adjustments, save as a PSD or TIF. Otherwise flatten it.

The LCD Display connector has partially come loose from the logic board connector, and simply needs to be pressed back down into place. Or the front screen assembly is now faulty, and needs to be replaced again.

Background and desktop pictures

I can choose a particular color for the background but when I choose desktop pictures to put on top of it, the background color reverts to blue.
On my old iBook I could have a color of my choice plus pictures.
Is it no longer possible to have both choices?

If you choose the 'Center' option then you'll be presented with a colored rectangle ...just click this and the color palette will appear.
As one of my desktops I have a single pixel saved as a 'gif' image ...because this 'image' is almost unseen I can then choose to center this image, and adjust my background color palette allowing me to show the complete desktop in any color I like. Background and transparant picture

Hi,
I encounter the following problem:
I have a Word document containing a .jpg picture.
For this picture, the white background is set as "transparant colour" (in Word).
After printing the Word document using "Adobe pdf" as printer, I want to add a background in Adobe Acrobat.
However, the background is interrupted where the picture is (rectangular).
This was not the case using previous version of Acrobat!
Could somebody please help me out?

Don't use the Adobe PDF printer. Use the Acrobat function added to Word, which is supposed to do the extra tricks needed to make this work.Though you might need to use a format that supports transparency like PNG.

Is it possible to get a black background when using Picture Book layout in iphoto?

I want to customize the layouts more in iphoto--either be able to use a black background when using the Picture Book layout, or have more layout options in the Photo Essay layout. Are either of these possible?

Changing the Lion OS X Finder background to a picture.

I downloaded a picture of the black Apple Linen texture online.
I wanted to change the background of the finder. The picture is 1920x1080 so I figured the size would be fine I have the 21.5" iMac. blah blah blah.
But when I change to the picture it doesn't fill the page, but fills the top left of the page. The area of the picture doesn't change when I change the size of my Finder.
I also downloaded a picture of size 128x128 The picture didn't stretch, it just took the size in the top left of my finder screen.

In Desktop & Screen Saver preferences, under Desktop, there should be a dropdown box with the option, "Fill Screen" and if that is not enough, there is "Stretch to Fill Screen"
See if either of those help.

Iphoto 9.6 does not seem to have the option of customizing the background of a picture with a mat text etc it did in the prior version for printing. It there a way to have that option?

I updated from Snow leopard to Yosemite
I needed to update iPhoto 8 to the newest version iPhoto 9.6
the old version allowed me to customize my photo adding a mat background colour text before printing
The new version 9.6 does not seem to have that option (that I used often)
Is it available and I just cannot seem to find it?

For printing, you may want to download and install the BorderFX plug-in. It can add borders to a photo and watermarks and annotations when exporting from iPhoto.

Like, how do make it so no matter how big my stage is, my background will tile on the stage AND off the stage forever and ever and ever and ever?

The image on the right is set as the desktop background, whereas the image on the left is the image full screen'ed in Preview. Notice the quality difference?
Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? The image is 2560x1440, same as my monitor.
Specs:
- Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013, i7, 16GB, 650M 1024MB, OS X 10.9.1 (13842)
- 3x 27" 2560x1440 monitors (2 via displayport, 1 via HDMI)

Most likely cause would be inadvertently altering the TV's aspect ratio setting to a 'zoom' option - if other inputs are ok, this would assume ach input can have it's own settings applied on the TV. Try setting it to 16:9 or Auto.

After I tried using the background effects my pictures were very dark, now when I try to take a regular picture it's completely black? how do I put it back so it will see me not pitch blackness?

I selected the clouds effect and turned my computer to the wall when it asked me to step out of frame when I turned it back to me and took the picture it was very dark, now when on normal I can't see anything else besides black

Did some updates yesterday so decided to shut the computer down last night. Turned it on this morning and now for almost an hour the screen is showing a grey background with a picture of the computer and it says "setting up your Mac". Like it is frozen.

This morning when I turned if back on it came up with a grey screen and a white box with a picture of the computer that says "setting up your Mac". It's been like this for an hour. The display box shows three check marks but it won't do anything. It's like its in a frozen mode
