Giving iPhone to someone else --Help!

I am giving someone my original iPhone 2G. I already went to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Contents and Settings.
What other steps, if any, should I take to ensure that the new owner has a smooth transition and also NONE of my previous information? Is it okay to keep the SIM card in or should I give it to them without it?
Thanks!

The Erase All Contents and Settings option with the iPhone is a secure erase - you don't need to do anything else.
If the person you are giving your iPhone to plans on activating the iPhone with AT&T, you should remove the SIM card since the recipient will need to get a new SIM card from an AT&T corporate store to activate the iPhone with AT&T via the iTunes activation process.
If the recipient does not plan on activating the iPhone with AT&T and will use the iPhone as an iPod Touch, the no longer activated SIM card needs to remain inserted in the iPhone in order to install a firmware update, or to restore the iPhone with iTunes if needed or wanted.

What version of Premiere Elements is involved? And, what computer operating system?
Strictly from the point of view of removing a version no longer wanted on a computer, Deactivate and then Uninstall which are not the same
    a. In an opened project, Help Menu/Deactivate or Help Menu/Sign Out (depends on version)
    b. Then uninstalling from the computer the usual Control Panel way (assumes Windows).
    Please also refer to
    Transfer an Adobe product license
Adobe allows you to use the same purchased activation serial number for a given Premiere Elements version on no more than two of your computers.
And, written here by others, not both at the same time.

  • New 16GB -- giving 8GB to someone else

Hi. Here's a scenario -- can anyone tell me the best way to go about it?
    I have an 8GB iPhone. I purchase a new 16GB iPhone.
I want to give the 8GB iPhone to someone who has a phone number with another carrier, so she'd have to port that number to AT&T.
Do I do the following: Put my SIM from the 8GB into the 16GB and then put the SIM that came with the 16GB in the 8GB and activate the old phone?
Or does it require AT&T intervention to do all that?
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Tamara,
If you take the SIM from the new iPhone, and put it in the 8GB iPhone, there is no need to go get a new SIM from AT&T.
When you put the SIM from the 8GB into the 16GB you will need to connect it to the computer for it to verify its an active iPhone SIM.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.
EDIT: My apologies these steps may not work. You may have to activate it with the new SIM and choose the option to replace an existing phone.

  • What do I need to do before giving an old iPhone to someone else?

I recently upgraded my IPhone from the 3GS to 5.  I have a friend that is interested in using my old phone as an IPod only.  I am assuming I have to remove the sim card so it won't function as a phone.  Is that correct?  Then erase all my content and settings.  My question is, if I erase all my content and settings, how do I keep it from deleting the same stuff on my new phone and mac items that are connected to ICloud.  Will simply turning ICloud off on the old phone take care of this?
    - Paul Goodman

Yes. Turning off iCloud does not delete the contents stored in the 'cloud' - just the local copy on the device.
See here about using an old iPhone as an iPod touch: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3406

  • My phone keeps sending Imessages to someone without an Iphone, and someone else is receiving them through imessage and replying.

If my 3g or Wifi is off my phone will text the correct number, my friend's samsung phone, however whenever my 3g or wifi is on, my phone sends my texts to my friend as imessages that do not go to his phone - they go to another persons device as an imessage...can someone help this is really frusterating.
No one in his house has anything assosciated to an iphone, ipad etc...

I just had this problem. I found this solution on a discussion board and it seems to have fixed the issue:
"So I finally realized (by accident) that you can tap on the text message you just sent, (the blue bubble imessage) and it'll ask "copy" or "send as sms"...and I chose send as sms.
After doing this about 5-6 times, it stopped automatically sending him imessages and started automatically sending him SMS messages instead!"

  • Why is Find My iPhone finding someone else's iPhone?

Hi all - I just purchased an iPhone 5s (my first iPhone!) and have been exploring my apps and trying to become familiar with the new device. I was looking on Find My iPhone and noticed another iPhone connected to my account at an address around 30 miles away. I don't know anyone who lives in this location and I am concerned that someone might have access to my Apple ID. Is this a valid assumption/does anyone know what could be happening?
I should mention that I had to return my original 5s to the Apple store last week and got it replaced with a new one due to some issues I was having. At that point I erased everything off the phone. I am wondering if maybe that phone is somehow still connected? I really have no idea.
I am considering going to the Apple store tomorrow to talk to someone, but I just wanted to check here first.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Sounds like it could be potentially a refurb...I dont think an Apple ID can be wiped from the device so this could be the case...
I would speak with Apple Support or someone in store to discuss your concern.
Also if in doubt change your password..

  • Passing iphone to someone else.. please respond asap

I have an iphone, bought it opening date. Today I'm planning on buying a new iphone for myself at a local apple store. If I swap the sim cards (placing my old activated sim card into the NEW iphone), will I be able to make calls then and there with it?
With my old iphone containing the NEW sim card which came with the newly purchased iphone, can the friend I am giving it to activate his iphone with no problem?
    thanks

No. You will need to reactivate it in iTunes before you can make calls.

    Yes.

  • I just bought an iphone from someone else and I can't contact the again to erase the device from their account, is that my only option?

I bought a phone today off Kijiji and now I can't get in it because I don't have the icloude account that this phone was registered with. The person I bought it from is not answering me. Please help me out.

There is nothing we can do, you will have to get a hold of the seller.
This is the new activation lock feature Apple implemented in IOS 7.

  • How can I register an iphone that someone else bought?

My coworker has purchased two iPhone 5s via the store.apple.com and therefore with his Apple ID.  One for him and one for me.  (He is traveling at the moment and therefore unavailable, so this may have to wait before I can resolve this.)
When I go to https://supportprofile.apple.com and attempt to register the serial number for my phone, I am presented with: "According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID."
I'm quite sure my coworked did not register this phone under his Apple ID at this web site as I unpacked it from the box.
How do I go about resolving this?
    Thanks,
    Steve

If it's unlocked, you put your SIM card in it and follow the on screen directions. If it is NOT unlocked, you contact the carrier it's locked to and find out if you're eligible to have it unlocked.

  • Replacement iPhone has someone else's details in

Just had my phone replaced by the apple store. If its a refurbished one why does it have a previous owners email addresses and iTunes account in it? Has this happened to anyone else. Thanks

Return it to the Apple Store and get another one.

  • How to update an iPhone on someone else's computer?

My phone when u go to general there's no software update
    And I don't have a computer
And the home button stops working sometimes
    And the volume messes up
    What do I do???

First thing to try is a hard reset by holding down both
the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button and wait
until a black screen with the Apple logo appears.
Trying to update on a computer other than the one
it was originally synced with can create all manner of
    issues of lost data.

  • Giving iPad to someone else

I have the original iPad and plan on replacing it with the iPad 3.
In order to give it to one of my children, what do I have to do with regards to the installed apps and the Apple ID it is registered to?
    Thanks,
    Steve

I understand that I cannot share my Apple ID or the purchases on that ID with my kids
This is not correct. You can easily share these.
However, If they have an AppleID, login to the computer with their computer login and open their iTunes.
    Select the iPad and Restore.
This will erase the iPad and allow it to be set up with their iTunes account and their iTunes library.
