Gizmo VoIP on E71/72

Hi, I would like to know please if anyone is using their Gizmo VoIP configurations to make VoIP calls. I am using Fring, set up with my Skype. There is definately a lag in the call. Even on WiFi there is a lag. I cannot notice any difference between the call quality between packet data 3G and WiFi for VoIP. Is it any better on the E72? Is the bottlneck the data connection? Should I wait for Nokia's 4G phones to come out? any comments would be appreciated. Thank you.
Nokia E65, E71-2 (30) [410.21.010 RM-357]

Hi ,I'm Using Gizmovoip as my voip calls for incoming and outgoing, through wifi, i believe you need to install sip voip setting 3.x first, and then under netsetting download gizmovo ip, plus check your router setting for port forwarding ,give your phone a static IP and put that IP on DMZ, would prolly work out, give it a shot my incoming calls works flawless & out going at times get lags, that's cause of jitters in connection through ISP

  • Solution: Gizmo VoIP over 3G/WCDMA with the Nokia ...

    Copied from: http://www.elisanet.fi/~y639777/sipvoip
I have received some emails asking about how to get Nokia E-series working with Gizmo (SIP VoIP) over 3G/WCDMA.. So these are the steps that worked for me..
    Steps:
    1) first ensure that SIP VoIP is working over your wireless connection, ie following these instructions
    2) disconnect from your Gizmo account if connected:
Nokia E51: Menu: Connectivity --> Internet tel. --> Options --> Disconnect from service
Nokia E71: Menu: Communications --> Internet tel. --> Options --> Disconnect from service
..then click "Back" and "Exit" until you get exit all the menus..
    3) Find your default access point:
E51/E71: Menu: Tools --> Settings --> Connection --> SIP settings --> GIZMO VoIP (Not registered) --> Default access point
    4) change you access point from your wireless network to 3G data connection, eg in my network the access point is called "internet".. then click "Back" and "Exit" until you get exit all the menus..
    5) go back to the Gizmo account in Internet telephony:
Nokia E51: Menu: Connectivity --> Internet tel. --> Options --> Connect to service
Nokia E71: Menu: Communications --> Internet tel. --> Options --> Connect to service
    6) Select your 3G data access point, it should be having a star and 3G label next to it
    Notes:
    - My wireless network is a simple configuration, basic ZyXEL ADSL box configured with NAT
    - I know my operator doesn't block SIP VoIP traffic, additionally I checked this with a PC based SIP VoIP client
    - My Nokia E-series device is not an operator variant. If you have an operator variant these features may be disabled in the firmware

Well I have found out that my 3G provider is not blocking ports. However, I have found that the issue only happens on that particular network, not others ..
I wonder if there are any setting I can change on my phone adapter that can help ..

  • N8; How to set up SIP and make (WiFI & 3G)VOIP cal...

N8 only comes with SIP software and you need to download the the VoIP setting software at this link (use VoIP 3.1):
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin...
You can use the N8 web browser and load directly from the site to the phone.
    then go to:
    Menu>settings>connectivity>Admin.Settings>SIP settings
    option>New SIP Profile>use default profile.
This window needs to be configured with your VoIP provider setting which may be found on their site or just do a search. I used the settings from my previous phone. I have Gizmo VoIP and will be using the setting for this service as an example to set up Wifi and 3G SIP setting
Profile Name> Gizmo, (assign the name of your provider e.g.. Gizmo, Google talk, etc)
    Service profile> IETF
    Default Destination> WiFi
Public username: sip:[email protected] (Input your VoIP provider info)
    Use compression> No
    Registration> When needed
    Use security> No
    Then goto Proxy server:
Proxy server address> siproxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider proxy address setting)
Realm> proxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider setting)
    Username> (use your username)
    Password> (enter your password0
    Allow loose routing> Yes
    Transport type> UDP
    Port> 5060
Go back and then go to Registrar server:
Registrar server address> siproxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider Registrar setting)
Real> proxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider setting)
    Username> (use your username)
    Password> (enter password)
    Transport type> UDP
    Port> 5060
Again folks above is just an example. You must use your provider settings.
Then when you are done go back to:
Admin setting> Net setting>Advance VoIP setting>Create new service> choose the SIP profile shown, e.g.  Gizmo
This will configure the VoIP setting with the particular SIP profile. It will also add a SIP Tel profile Pane in your Contacts folder, Internet call option to the contacts list and Phone log.
Now go to the SIP pane in Contacts folder, sign in and then make a test call . To make a SIP call just go to a contact and choose Internet call. If you configured everything correctly, it should work and you are done.
For 3G connection, follow above direction and create new SIP profile with new name (e.g. Gizmo (3G). All settings are same except:
    Default destination>Internet
Then set up the VoIP setting with the new SIP profile by going to:
Admin setting>Net setting>Advance VoIP settings>Create new service> Choose the SIP profile you just configured e.g. Gizmo (3G)
    Then:
    Admin setting>Net setting>Advance VoIP settings>VoIP service>choose the 3G SIP profile, e.g. Gizmo (3G)>Profile setting>>>>>
Go down to AWCDMA> set it to "on"
Exit out of everything. Go to SIP (3G) pane in the Contacts folder. Sign in and make test call.
I have configured many Mobile phones and found the N8 somewhat touchy. But, the sound quality on Gizmo VoIP using both WiFi and 3G was great, no echo or any problems.
    Useful hints:
If it does not connect or make a call, you need to check the SIP setting for any error. If you find any problem there, you must first remove the SIP profile in the Net setting. Then go to the SIP setting and correct the problem. Double check everyting, go back to Net setting>Advance VoIP setting>Create new service and add the SIP profile. The reason is that when you Configure a VoIP setting with a SIP profile, the SIP info is permanently loaded and will not change even if you make any change in the SIP profile. So any time you change anything in the SIP profile (even the password) you always need to remove, make correction and then reload the corrected SIP profile to the VoIP setting.
There are also few Mobile service providers who have blocked VoIP on their data network service. So, just check with your service provider. In US both AT&T and TMobile have open network for VoIP.

    Hi
I have an unbranded N8 and am trying to get VoipCheap to work.
I have tried to set up VOIP but still facing a problem or 2 so please assist me.
I have an active account via VoipCheap.com with a profile name and password and it is verified.
1/ When I look in Admin Settings / Sip Settings it shows VoipCheap with "not registered" under it..why?
My settings when I click on VoipCheap are:
    profile name: VoipCheap
    Service profile: IETF
    Default destination: Internet
    Public username: sip:[email protected]
    Use compression: No
    Registration: When needed
    Use security: No
    Proxy server address: sip:sip.VoipCheap.com
    Realm: VoipCheap.com
    Username: [email protected]
Password:  ****** (I have entered my password)
    Allow loose routing: Yes
    Transport type: UDP
    Port: 5060
Registrar server settings same as Proxy server settings.
I have also gone to Net settings / VoipCheap settings and see:
    Username:  sip:[email protected]
Password: ***** (I have entered my password)
    Default service: No
    Service connectivity: Internet
In Contacts I have a VoipCheap tab with the icon for internet calling and it says
    Sign in (example)
but when I click on this it shows connecting (via my internet connection) but hangs there - it does not seem to connect............
what do you think I am doing wrong, please ????????????????

  • How exactly does Voip sipphone internet calls work...

Hi all, I've recently installed Gizmo Voip sipphone to my E90 to engage in internet calling, I was told to first purchase credit & calls are said to be cheap.
I would like to know which is a better option, with connection to WiFi or GPRS? Does the other party also needs to have the same services on their phones? Can I call both landlines & mobile network phones?
I am reluctant to try because of my lack of information, thanks:manvery-happy in advance for your advice.:manwink:

  • Nokia e72 voip calls priority

for use internet calls in my e72 i install sip voip 3.x settings...
now i can make an internet calls...but when i search a contact writing direct on a keyboard  the preferred od is internet calls in voip.....
were i can change this  ?????
    FaaBruno
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You are right the call priority option is not where it is supposed to be on this phone, so my proposed solution above does not work but somehow I cannot edit in my post above it so here is my new solution now that I've been using the phone for a few days:
Go to "Internet Settings" (the new Icon appearing in Control Panel after you install VoIP settings 3.x)
Don't go to Advanced VoIP Settings in that menu, just scroll down until you find the choice corresponding to the VoIP service you're using in the list ("Gizmo VoIP settings" for example), open it
"Default Service" should be the first choice there: set it to NO
Although my VoIP service is always on (SIP profile settings) when I'm indoors with a WLAN at hand the phone it still uses GSM as default call service to place a call.
Unlike with previous versions, using VoIP as default service is just not an option if you intend to use the phone outdoors : it asks for too many confirmations and ends up not making the call at all, driving you crazy if you're in a hurry !! Most professionals for whom this phone is intended are...
As a VoIP provider I have to say I'm pleased with the flexibility/reliability/stability and more importantly the quality of this SIP client, but I just wish Nokia would make it easier for the rest of the users out there with a configurating tool for example: getting it to work right is a headache when you have so many settings (and the fact that the VoIP settings 3.x is not installed on the phone by default is ... puzzling to say the least).

  • Disconnect from VoIP

Is there a way to (temporarily) disconnect from VoIP (for the purpose of reconnecting) without having to change the login type from automatic to manual? If I disconnect VoIP or WLAN, the phone always wants to change things to manual as well. I don't want that.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You should be able to force VoIP to re-register by manually disconnecting the active WLAN connection that VoIP is currently using.
Go to Connection Manager application (usually found under Menu -> Tools or Menu -> Connectivity) and select Active Data Connections -> choose the WLAN connection which VoIP is using -> select Options -> Disconnect.
At least in my case forcing WLAN connection to drop temporarily like described above does not change VoIP settings (from Automatic to Manual) and as long as I have SIP/VoIP originally set to "Automatic/Always on", have periodic WLAN scanning enabled and WLAN network coverage remains available then VoIP client (E71) does automatically open up a new WLAN connection and re-register itself on the VoIP service.

  • The difference between Accounts and Calenders?

When you select overview on iCal Server in ServerAdmin you get a couple of values.
I wonder what the difference is between the number of Accounts and the number of Calenders.
I can reproduce the number of calenders by looking into the _uid_ directory but I can't figure out where this overview gets it's number for the accounts. This number does not equals the number of accounts I have present in WGM...
The idea I came up with at the moment is that this is just a little bug and that it adds the account value when you add an account in WGM but it does not subtract it when you delete an account.
Is my assumption correct or is there someone who actually knows why there is such a difference.

SOME QUESTIONS ON THESE TWO 564 CARTRIDGE BASED PRINTERS:
    1) So the 5 heads and the mechanics is basically the same between these two?
    2) Why do both of these models print out too heavy/ dark on the yellow?
    3) In the driver (version 12 I think) for c309; you *can* change the CMYK ink intensity levels to fix number 2 above, but you *removed* that feature on the driver for C410 -- why? = it may reduce the problem above.
    4) How do you override the profile it uses when you use HP Advance Photo Paper? (Im making an assumption that reads the barcode on the backside, and the driver ignores user settings)
    ...curious...

  • N80 INTERNET EDITION, SMS ACCELERATOR n VPN

Hey can anybody tell me if the SMS Accelerator comes pre-installed on N80 I.E since there is no mention of it on the support/software pages. My N80 I.E's firmware version is 4.0632.0.38 ( latest as per my limited knowledge ). Also on the N80 I.E support pages, it does not mention about VPN Client software as it does on the regular N80 page. Can somebody explain this to me?

Open up the download application and download the Gizmo voip plugin and visit http://www.gizmoproject.com/learnmore-nokia.html for more details.
If you don't like gizmo then there is also Truphone and Fring. (more recently I've been using Fring)Message Edited by jacobsladder on 08-Mar-2007

    Hi
Why do they install Gizmo when it is nearly impossible to get the darn thing working!
Fring seems the easiest at the moment though.

  • N800 not being able to run WAV files

I recently got a N800 and downloaded the latest operating system last week. I also am using Gizmo (VOIP) where I have my voice messages recorded and mailed to my e-mail account. These voice mail files are in .wav format and the N800 manual says that they could be read/heard but I keep getting the message on the N800 that the file is unsupported. Any ideas?

Are you sure it supports WAV format?

  • E75: SIP & USB mode

    Hello everybody.
I've just bought an e75 and I think that Nokia did a great job with this phone.
I'm using almost all the features of the device since I have an UMTS carrier with 10GB/month of Internet.
So far there are only two things that I want to report, one probably as a minor bug and one that instead I think is a Nokia choice (hopefully I'm wrong!!) that I don't agree with.
The first issue that I noticed is that when Fring in running (I guess it would be the same with any application installed on the memory card) and I connect the phone to my PC using the USB cable, Fring stop running and if I look for it in the application folder, also the icon is missing.
If I unplug the USB cable everything comes back to normal.
I've tried to figure out why I'm having this behavior and the only reason I could find is that, since Fring is installed on the external memory card, when plugged the phone driver *lock* the memory card and all the files (thus the applications as well) can not be accessed any more. It makes sense in terms of safety but I would prefer the phone to lock the files that have been using (running applications) so that I can use all the applications I want while the phone is charging.
The second issue is about SIP. The phone is capable of SIP calls (without using Fring) BUT unfortunately I could only place SIP calls using Gizmo. I can configure another SIP providers and the login is successful as stated in the "Registered" word. The problem is that every time I try to perform a SIP call, only the Gizmo provider can be used to place calls. I know that this is a *well known issue* in recent Nokia phones. And is a commercial choice. Still, I'm here to ask Nokia to unlock this feature and let the users decide which SIP provider to use. I bought an original Nokia phone with no brands exactly because I want to be free to do anything I want with it.
Please Nokia, let us use the SIP Internet calls without any restriction.
(Or at least write in the specs that "SIP calls can be placed ONLY with Gizmo carrier".....does it sound so crazy?)
For the rest it's a GREAT phone. Thanks Nokia for giving us such good devices.
    Regards.

    Hi optimiser_ss,
Sorry for the delay in answering you. The first thing I did was to install the "SIP VoIP Settings". In this way you have extra settings in the "Control Panel ->Settings .net". If you don't install it, you can configure your SIP providers but you can't use them to place VoIP calls (Thus, as configured from Nokia, it's an useless configuration).
Once you install the  "SIP VoIP Settings" application, you first need to configure your SIP providers in the "Control Panel->Settings->Connections->SIP configurations".
I'm currently using an Italian SIP VoIP carrier, Eutelia.
Now you have to create an Internet Telephony profile using the SIP providers previously configured.
go to "Control Panel ->Settings .net". Go to "Advanced VoIP settings" and then to VoIP services.
You should see only the Gizmo VoIP configuration. If you click on the Options button you can choose the "New" command to create a new VoIP profile.
Once you do it, you should be ready to use the Internet Telephony service.
The first time you will try to place a VoIP call you will be asked if you want to enable the VoIP service. Of course you have to say yes and you will see a small white icon close to the one of the wifi connection.
Depending on your provider you can play with the codecs to find the optimal solution.
Remember anyway that you can download the SIP VoIP settings documenation to have full details on the configuration.
Some other comments on the SIP VoIP features of this phone. Probably I'm pushing it to the limit but I want to receive also incoming calls through my SIP account thus I leave the phone "always-on". Since it's always connected, the battery last hours. I think that the best approach would be to use the VoIP feature only when you need, to place calls.
The battery can't handle the fact that you staty always on, at least with an UMTS 3G/3.5G connection. Probably wifi would have better performance. From this side it seems that Fring has a better management of the power consumption but I have to check it out better.
Another annoying thing is that it's VERY tricky to switch between the UMTS and WiFi connections for the SIP VoIP service. If you configure your SIP provider to use your WiFi connection, let's say at home, when you go out and you might need to connect using the UMTS connection it doesn't switch automatically or ask you to change the access point. But even if you want to manually do it it's a nightmare!
If you want to edit the configuration you can't because the provider is locked because it's in use. And if you switch the phone off and on again the VoIP will start automatically thus you will not be able to change the configuration again.
I solved the problem creating a "Fake" SIP provider. When I want to switch between WiFi and UMTS I change the configuration in the ".Net Settings" of my provider and change the SIP profile to use from "eutelia" to "Fake".
After that I still have to reboot the phone and only after that I can edit the SIP configuration of the provider to make it use another Access Point. I would be SO happy if somebody tell me a smarter way to obtain these results!!!
Remember also that the quality of the call in terms of audio and latency strongly depends on your UMTS carrier as well.
    Hope it will help.
    Regards.

  • E61 poor IMAP support

    I've recently upgrade my E61 to 3.0633.09.04.
First of all, for the first time I can connect to a IMAP server without the messaging application closing itself when updating the mailbox. That said, IMAP support is still *way* too buggy to be usable. Anyhow, they're on the right track, maybe 2 or 3 more updates and I can dump POP3.
    Bugs so far:
Application freezes after updating imap folder and does not come back.
After trying to update, nothing changes and now you cannot open messages, open the options menu, go back etc. The application refuses to close. You can change the selected message though, so it's not exactly freezed. Maybe it's a variation of the bug above.
When trying to retrieve the messages, they seem to be retrieved (the icon changes), but their date is changed from the date the imap server gives to the current date. You cannot open the message afterwards (it will just re-retrieve it)
(Feature?) It's always closing the connection; every time you want to do anything you have to reconnect. This may be inconvenient when using wifi, but can also be more expensive when using GPRS, 3g, etc
I am not sure about this, but I think there's still no support for imap read/replied/forwarded flags..
BTW: VoIP now has NAT traversal? That's a surprise, since it still doesn't work with services that work perfectly with, for instance, x-lite, behind the same NAT. Anyway, gizmo voip works, and that's what I use. The new Internet Telephony application is also a big step forward.
    cheers

Very interesting. I just did some testing use gmail and it works. So, something is odd. This makes me believe something is reported different and Mail 3.0 is not handling correctly. Say like treating system flags as case sensitive, which it should not. Sure enough,
    gmail sends:
    * OK [PERMANENTFLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Draft \Seen \*)]
    My imap server sends:
    * OK [PERMANENTFLAGS (\answered \flagged \deleted \draft \seen \*)]
I changed my server to return:
    * OK [PERMANENTFLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Draft \Seen \*)]
It all works now. Bad Mail.app developers please read rfc3501

  • Microsoft LX 3000 Lifechat USB Headset

I have been using this headset for a long time with Mac OS X 10.5 and ever since a few OS X minor releases I am having a very odd problem using Gizmo VoIP: if I select this device for the output, it works fine. Also, if I select it for the input, it works fine.
However... wait for it... if I select it both for input and for output, the output comes in 2x more speed, like those old LPs in wrong rotation. It's weird because it started with my iMac and then, when I updated my MBP the same started to happen. Does anyone have a slight idea of what can be causing this?
    Thanks for any insight.

When I did so, PRESENTER 6.1 is using the only microphone

  • E71 cannot choose which sip profile to use VoIP

I created several sip voip profiles, one for domestic call, another for international call. The problem is, when I dial a number and click on internet call, E71 will persistently use a certain profile merely. I cannot decide which sip profile to use.
Could you please give me some advice? Thx!

    Thanks Carlo for your reply.
I have read again the link and you are correct that in using the preferred command together with localhost under POTS dial-peer, I can now select which correct path to choose for my outbound calls. I'm just not very strong with dial-peer and translation rules at the moment.
I will try this solution during the weekend and let you know. But it would have been better if there was a sample configuration for this option.
