Actual - is Actual cost incurred liike for example rent/cost of buying etc
Budget - Estimation cost for the particular period /account ( During the start of the year every organization generally plans and estimates the cost that might incur, for example: organization might plan for buying 50 laptops during the year with an estimated cost of $50000)
when the organization actually purchases the laptops you will know the actual cost, it might be same, increase or decrease
Encumbrance - An Encumbrance is the name given to funds that have been reserved when a purchase requisition is finalized and encumbered. When a requisition is processed, funds are placed aside for that transaction. Those funds are no longer available for use in other transactions, but also have not been included in the Actual Funds balance because a payment has not yet been generated and the funds have not physically left the university. The purpose and main benefit of encumbrance accounting is avoiding budget overspending.
Funds Available = Budget - Actuals - Encumbrances

Approval Templates' terms - help needed

Greetings, all!
           I'm having troubles understanding the approval template terms (Modules->Administration->Approval Procedures->Approval templates:: Approval Templates setup form->Terms tab->Terms grid).
           I think I know what the 'Total Document' and "Discount %" terms are but the rest are a haze to me.
           Could anyone tell me how these are evaluated against a sales order for example.
           Any help will be appreciated

Generally as the terms are worded..
Deviation from Credit Limit - If you have the Credit limit defined in the BP Master, it would validate against it
Deviation from Commitment - same as above about against Commitment limit
Gross Profit % - Document level Gross Profit would be validated
Discount % - Document level Discount would be validated
Deviation from Budget - This is when you use Budgets and if the Document causes an deviation from budget for that period...

I want to know what is the exact function of a search term used in the Customer Master transaction.

Search term helps the Sales order Entry person to identify the customers easily.
For example, My client has a number of Walmart Stores all over the US as Customers. Each Walmart Store has its unique store ID. So when some body calls to make an order from a particular Walmart store, they will give thier store ID. We have used the search term to store the uiqure store ID for each store. So they will enter that in the search term area and pulls the customer information into the Sales order. this is just one example.

My Help Viewer is not working for mac help

My Help viewer is not working for mac help. Everytime i choose mac help the window opens then closes. But when i open another help like safari help it opens and works fine. If i switch it back to mac help the window just closes and the application quits.
If you know how to fix please telll!

I do get the impression that you only seem to be helped, if (some) work is done for you, like researching and writing code. My definition (in this area) is: lead the person to the information and give some advice, but don't do the whole work, otherwise nothing is learned from that case, except for "how to be an efficient free loader". And we both don't want that to happen, right?

Hi All,
Is there a way to give a default VAT code in the Blanket Purchase Agreements,so that the VAT code is come automatically when we release the items.
Otherwise we need to enter a VAT code for each and every item.

In the next screen enter details like planned delivery time, purchase group, standard qty, tax code and net price and save.

I am just a simpleton trying to get my Flash download to my MAC 10.6

How Mac User Can Learn Windows XP????

I am and will continue to be a big Apple fan (see my history below) -- but since I can't sit around any longer waiting for a Mac netbook, I broke down and bought the new 10.1-inch Acer Aspire that comes with Windows XP Home Edition. Since I've never used anything but a Mac before,am hoping someone can suggest a resource that can, in very simple terms, help me learn how to do the basics in Windows Xp Home, like create documents, etc. Ideally, if there's a document called something like, "A Mac Users Guide to Window XP Home Edition," that'd be fabulous.

And I'm not trying to be funny, but I'm thinking you aren't going to like the transition. I've been on macs for about 8 years solid but have a good windows knowledge. Now when I go back to a Windows PC (by necessity) it is nothing short of frustrating. You might discover, things don't work as the should or as logic would have them..... something to not take for granted using Macs.
I no longer have the patience to touch Windows. Sorry, but I'm just telling it like it is. Windows just feels like it's put together by high-schoolers (displaced from the 80's).

OHJ vs JavaHelp

My company is evaluating whether to commit to JavaHelp or OracleHelp for a long-term help system delivery standard. I've built a couple of help systems for each using WebWorks and, for JH, the Oracle Help Wiz. At this point it appears to me the main advantages of OHJ over JH are that OHJ has better image rendering support and better CSS support. On the other hand, OHJ seems to have a much smaller user base, so I wonder about future support. I'm also not clear on the status of Sun's JH development--although they stopped developing a while back, I have heard that they plan to start developing again. I'd like to hear any comments from others who have evaluated/implemented both, in terms of product comparison.

I am on a corp network using winproxy. The proxy is not set up to block 443, and no one else is having this issue.
Tried the terminal command
$ telnet sss-web.usps.com 443
$ telnet: trying 56.0.134.63
$ connect to address 56.0.134.63: no rout to host
$ telnet: unable to connect to remote host
So 443 is being blocked, but whats blocking it.
Went to network utiliy and it showed 3 network interfaces (en1), (fw0), and (en0) only (en0) is set up correctly. The powerbook is using internal ethernet only.

Belkin model F5D7230-4, Version 5000 & iMac w/ 10.4 OS w/ Airport

I've read some threads on how to make a connection between the Belkin and the Mac, and I'm too much of a computer novice to follow any of them. Can anyone, in very simplistic terms, help me? I.e., perhaps something like "go to this menu > then this menu > then here and type this info, which is found here."
I've e-mailed Belkin, but their website shows the model F5D7230-4 as version 4000 only, and their information simply states that "there is a problem." Telephone and e-mail requests for help are fruitless.
Again, any simplified help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have some experience of connecting my Powerbook G4 w/airport to a Belkin F5D7630 which I had upto about 4 weeks ago.
First you need to make sure your router is in it's simplest state for connecting wirelessly. Use the config screens to make sure SSID is enabled and disable any encryption for now. I assume you have correctly input your ISP's settings? Also make sure you have the correct region set. All this should be in your manual.
Once your router is ready you need to check airport on the mac to make sure it's able to connect. Go into System Prefs>Network. Under Show, select Airport. Under that you will see the Airport tab highlighted. Under "By default join" select Automatic. Then click the TCP/IP tab. Ensure Configure IPv4 is set to Using DHCP. Under the PPPOE tab make sure Connect using PPPOE is NOT checked.
Then click Apply now. Airport should detect the router, but if not try in this order, switch off both Mac and Router. Switch on router and wait for all lights to come on that should do, ie ADSL, WLAN, Power, LAN port(if you have anything connected via ethernet). Then power on the Mac. Airport should find your Belkin network or give you an option to join it. Once you're connected you need to make sure you put encryption back on the router WPA PSK is best. Airport will disconnect when you do this, but just cick on the airport icon on the menu bar and select your network name and you will be asked for encryption type then the password you used in the router. That should be it. Good luck.
