Glass separating from display "Falling Off"

My macbook pro warranty ended in December. since I bought it i've had major problems with the display. This is my 4th screen. it's literarlly falling off - as in I can see the camera from the inside that was like last month - now the everything left of the camera comes lose... can look down and see whats between the "glass". it's like the screen is held together with adhesive which isn't strong enough any longer...  everything from the right side of the camera is still sticking but I just want to keep it together until the new macbook pros come out or september for back to school specials....
I have the unibody verison from 2009 the one with the removable battery. I just feel like something I spent over 2k for should hold together a little better than this?
Suggestions?

Call Applecare and ask to speak to a customer representative. Explain the issue. The previous repairs have been documented. Don't be surprised if they go the extra yard for you.

  • Glass separating from display

    Hello,
A few months back, I got a refurbished MacBook Pro 15" Unibody. Recently, I've noticed the glass covering the display appears to be 'falling off.' About a 3mm space can be seen between the top of the lid and the top of the glass. This computer has spent nearly the entire time I've had it sitting on a desk.
This seems very strange to me and I'd like to get it fixed, as I tend to obsess over these things. The closest Apple Store is ~80 miles away, and I can't be without this for very long.
Does anyone have experience with this issue? Will Apple fix, or even better, replace the computer? I've heard of Apple emailing a shipping label and overnighting a new computer when the return package is shipped. Ideally this is what I'm hoping to do, but I don't know if Apple will do this for me...
    Thanks for your help,
    Nick

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
If you are under warranty, call Apple and explain your concerns. You probably won't get a replacement machine, but you will very likely get a speedy repair. They will send you a shipping box.
My niece sent her MBP off for repair at 6:00 on a Tuesday evening. She had it back the following Thursday morning.
You should make a good backup before sending off your machine. Sometimes the drive is erased during the troubleshooting process, and if you have sensitive information on it, you may want to erase this information before sending it in.
    Good luck!

  • HT1477 When i disconnect my iPod 2nd Gen from my laptop, its display turns off and working freezes. Please help me.

When i disconnect my iPod 2nd Gen from my laptop, its display goes off and working freezes. Please help me.

The computer freezes?  There may be something wrong with the USB port.  If the laptop has more than one port, does this happen on any port?  If you are disconnecting the shuffle cable from the computer, does it make any difference if you disconnect the shuffle at the other end of the cable first, then disconnect the cable from computer?  Or if you currently disconnect the shuffle from cable first, try it the other way.
You may be able to work around this problem, if you get a self-powered USB hub.  Something like this one
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/USB2HB7PRO/
There are many choices, but be sure to get one that has its own power supply.  You can leave the shuffle cable connected to the hub, and connect the shuffle to the hub, instead of directly to the computer.  This may provide a "buffer" for whatever is causing your laptop to shut off when the shuffle is disconnected.  Since the hub has its own power supply, it will not rely on the computer for power to re-charge the battery.

  • Why does my iMac display go off when I am starting up or waking up my machine from sleep..

Why does my iMac display go off when I am starting up or waking up my machine from sleep..?
When my iMac goes to sleep I then later try to click the magic track pad or keyboard and it will usually then show the initial password entry login screen and then go off. The machine is still on but the display is black and will sometimes flash up the screen again if I press the magic track pad or keyboard but will then black out again..

Well, there are many different reasons why it does this. It might shut off due to power voltage problems, system overheats, or there is a System Problem. The reason it might be hard to boot up is because your power button might not work properly or your system hard drive is damaged.

If covered by warranty, and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost. You can send it to Apple See:

    Otherwise,
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • I just dropped my iPad and two corners are "shattered."  I know my warranty doesn't cover this, but is there any way to fix this?  There are small glass pieces in the two corners, ready to fall off.  Can the screen be fixed?

I just dropped my iPad and shattered two corners.  I know my warranty does not cover this repair, but ...is it possible to repair the glass corners that look like they are ready to fall off? Thanks...

if youre the adventurous sort, you can try getting a replacement screen off ebay or another site and doing the repair yourself.  i dont really recommend it, but its an option

  • My iPhone 4S stopped displaying the "Verizon" Logo at the top left of the screen. Now all it shows is the signal strength and 3G. It seems to be falling off the 3G network more than ever, What is going on?

My phone quit displaying the Verizon logo at the top and now it only displays 3G and the signal bar. And its falling off the 3g network after finishing with voice calls.

There is no roaming agreement with AT&T since a CDMA phone can't roam on AT&T's GSM network and vice-vera. The roaming agreement is with Alltel, which is in effect with Verizon since it was Verizon that purchased Alltel's CDMA network.
Edit, I guess it is with AT&T since I now recall AT&T purchased some of Alltel's assets.

  • IPhone 6 glass screen separation from body

I've had my phone six for about a week and I noticed that there is a separation of the glass screen from the body on the volume side of the phone, warranty issue?

As long as it is a manufacturing defect, then it is covered under your warranty. Return it to the place of purchase ASAP. Have your receipt of other proof of purchase. Be sure you make a backup ASAP. You should wipe the device, too: What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

They payment can still be from my card/account, that`s not the problem, but facetime, imessage etc. is a available on both mine and his apple products (I know you can check what email/phone number we can be reached at, but it`s just a click and he see my messages and I his). It`s the privacy problem that is the most important.
He needs to have his own account, the sooner the better.

  • Unhinged Display - About To Fall Off! (but still works)

    Hello
the other day, completely out of the blue, my laptop screen did something funny. The left hing effectively snapped, so that the furthest left white plastic thing is now no longer "tucked in" to the screen. See a picture of it at this link:
    http://stellarrunning.org/temp/IMG_1193.jpg
This then, about 4 hours later, happened to the right side. Now, the screen will not stay up when I put it up. it just sort of flaps around, such that I need to lean the screen against something so it doesn't fall flat.
It feels as the whole screen is about to completely fall off the computer, but for the moment it still works.
    I have 2 quesetions:
    1. Is this something I can fix? (with a couple spare parts, etc.)
    2. Assuming that it is not, how much would it cost to fix? Can it be done without replacing the whole monitor? (right now, the only thing broken is the hinge, not the monitor)
    thanks!

wow MINE DID TOO!just yesterday...and I am on working holiday in rome, where things dont run as smoothly as we would like, seems repairing is out of the question. as Im being told it would be 1,000 dollars to change and replace the entire screen. I've lst so far only the left hing, same thing happened out of the blue. glad to hear yours still works fine though--worried about the amount of unbacked up folders...and the possiblity of it just koncking out on me soon.. I'll check here later to see if youve gotten good news..for us both! cas

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 SP2 SAN disks falls off

    Hello!
We have a Windows Server 2008 Standart SP2 x64, which is connected via two HBAs QLogic QLA2440 to a Storage Xyratex F5402. On DS5402 are located three LUNs for the corporate file storage. These LUNs are displayed in Windows Server as local disks E F G.
As the MPIO software it is used Xyratex Storview Pathmanager 6.00.5016.14 (Microsoft MPIO Driver 6.0.6002.18005) in Failover\Failback configuration, and three disks are adjusted for work on three different ways.
It is all normally worked since 2008
But problems have begun with the beginning of this year.
In operation time any of the SAN disks falls off. With a F5402 all is normal and its logs there are no errors.
In Windows Event System Log the folowing errors and warnings:
EventID: 515, Source: xyrsp200 (Xyratex F5402E Multi-Path Device Specific Module). The path for logical drive [SN: 60050CC00020188D0000000000000007] has failed over to [0005 4:0:1:2] because of a path error.
EventID: 23, Source: mpio. Errors in all ways. \Device\MPIODisk2 it will be removed.
EvetID: 260, Source: xyrsp200 The active path on logical drive [SN: 60050CC00020188D0000000000000007] has been switched to the preferred path on [0005 5:0:0:2].
EventID: 15, Source: disk. Access to the device \Device\Harddisk5\DR5 while is impossible
    and further an disk erors...
Disk reloading in Windows Disk Manager doesn't help. I am compelled to reboot the server. After reboot all works as though anything and wasn't to the following such case.
As fall off not all LUNы at once (one can fall off, others and will to work normally) a problem probably either in Windows or in Xyratex Storview Pathmanager.
After adjustment of monitoring I have found out that at the moment of failure the current queue of a falling disk was 6 and the size of operation of record on a disk has sharply increased.
May be the disk simply hasn't sustained loading (though strange - Fiber-Chaneell, and High-Perfomance Disks Storage). In Windows it can be somehow possible to optimize operations of work with disks that there were no such falls.
    I need a help !!!

    Hello
I've configured my SCOM service on windows server 2008 r2 sp1, and it's database is placed on 2 disks on SAN storage (HP p9000). since MPIO is configured, sometimes SCOM was stop working. I looked Disk management console and I saw DB disks were gone! This problem
solves when I restart the server. This was happening frequently and I've changed the MPIO configuration policies. that get better but it was happening in a bit longer periods.
I searched and found out I have to install Fibrechannel hotfix (fcinfo_amd64) and Windows6.1-KB2470949-v2-x64 and the mentioned patch above. I did this and for last 3 months that was ok but last night it happens again.
It is our monitoring system and send very important messages. please help me.
    may be this information helps:
    Alert
    occuring sequence in LOG files:
    All paths have failed.
    \Device\MPIODisk2 will be removed.
    A fail-over on \Device\MPIODisk2
    occurred.
    The device,
    \Device\Harddisk3\DR3,
is not ready for access yet.
The description for Event ID 304 from source hpxpdsm cannot be found.
Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer

  • How 7+ Years Late Payments Fall Off Report?

So being a credit forums junky for years now I thought I knew exactly how this would go down but I'm a little confused now, I guess...  I just checked my Transunion report which still shows some old late payments from 2008 and 2009... An example of my "confusion" is  one of my Student Loans...there is payment history on that loan dating back from March 2007 and onwards (opened Feb 2007)...these recorded "OK" payments are well over 7 years old - why havent these payements fallen off as time goes on? (My lates arent quite 7 years old yet on that account yet, but will be soon and I'm sort of not sure how they are going to "fall off" if this account's payments are being reported beyond 7 years?)  A similar sitiation is going on with my Capital One card, which is actually still open. - It had a 30 day late back in September 2008. Will this 30 day late just magically turn in to a "OK" payment in Septemeber when it turns 7 years old, or will that payment literally fall off and dissapear somehow, even though the older-than-7-years payments on that account that are "OK" are not falling off and still showing?

Derogatory payment history (lates) will be excluded as each late passes the 7 year mark. When the last late is excluded, the account will become completely positive and will report for ten years after its closure.  A similar sitiation is going on with my Capital One card, which is actually still open. - It had a 30 day late back in September 2008. It will become excluded and will essentilally become "no data" for that month. Most display formats will show "no data" as "OK" - it just depends on where you are viewing your file.

  • Printer falls off after connecting to the network (wired)

Hello! I'm using a Hp Officejet pro 8600 plus printer for over 2 years without any problems.Since to day it's connected via a switch and the printer is giving a error and the display shows "please turn the printer of and restart". I've done this a couple of times and every single time it falls off.... Does anyone knows where this problem might be?

first there is the EVW3226EU modem/router from Ubee that's wired to a 5way switch from Dlink (the DGS-1005D). The printer is wired to the switch.

  • Click wheel falling off!

I searched and found many posts about unresponsive click wheels, but that's not my problem. The click wheel on my wife's 5.5Gen iPod is threatening to pop off! It's like a scab that's ready to go, just hanging in place in the top-left corner (where the ribbon cable is attached). I've googled for this problem, and can only find someone with a first-gen iPod having this issue. Has anyone else seen this? Does the wheel snap in place, or has some support broken inside? How can I repair?
The really crappy part is that I bought this iPod brand new 4 MONTHS ago. It was already old tech, but I wanted one that would dock with all the iPod stuff in the house (kitchen radio, clock radio, portable screen, etc) that I have for MY 5.5G iPod. I'm anticipating having a hard time getting service under warranty because it came from a seller on Ebay who wasn't necessarily an authorized reseller...but the traditional authorized resellers were no longer selling the 5.5G model.
This iPod has never been dropped, squished, or anything. It sits on the arm of the sofa and has never even been out of the house! It looks as good as it did on the day 4 months ago when I pulled it, brand new, out of its sealed package -- except, of course, for the click wheel that's about to fall off!
Message was edited by: snoutmeat (changed "scroll wheel" to "click wheel" throughout)

I've checked on Ebay and I see that the click wheel is sold separately by several vendors, but in their pics, the wheel has a little tab at each of the 4 corners that holds it in place. This would imply that my wheel should have 4 little tabs on it -- but it has none. As far as I can tell, the click wheel is just sitting in place. I just pressed on the wheel all the way around, hoping that this would re-seat it, and it seems to be sitting where it belongs. It's working perfectly, but...I'm afraid the wheel will pop out again. I looked carefully at the wheel, and can't see any evidence that it ever had those 4 tabs that appear on the replacement item. The tabs indicate to me that replacement involves cracking open the case (been there, done that with my old 1st Gen), pulling the face off, disconnecting old click wheel's ribbon cable, connecting new wheel, and reassembling. Doesn't seem too heinous. Anyone done it? All the wheels on Ebay seem to be black, so I'd have a 2-tone. (Edit -- found white ones on Ebay too)
