What the heck is Oracle R2?
Where do you see this message, and why do you think it has anything to do with Oracle.
If it is, in fact, related to Oracle, about the only option you have is to file a support request at https://support.oracle.com

Found the same thing on one of my clients machines.
Different architecture x86_64. So it seems that there is a problem in the DBConsole.

  • Oracle 8i for Linux Starter Kit

    Hello,
Need an Oracle God to help me with 8i for linux!
I am would like to learn about oracle database software. Just purchased the Starter Kit that includes 8.1.6 Enterprise Edition. Now I have done some research on the install for this and found out that it is very difficult. I tried to cookbook together the install from various posts/oracle web site/etc. I was successful in getting it to install, but could not get the stubs patch to install.
I now have a fresh install of Mandrake 8.0. No changes have been made to glibc.
First question is where to get the correct glibc rpm to keep the installer from crashing, and from causing other problems to my system. MandrakeUpdate was smoking crack and fetching a different file for glibc 2.2.2-5, then it said that it would conflict with gcc or something like that. I want to make sure I am getting the appropriate
    files.
Second, on page 19 of the book, I do ok until it comes to setting the environment variables. Am I supposed to login as my Oracle user, an type '$HOME/.bash_profile' to set these variables? This relates to the problem with the stubs patch saying that ORACLE_HOME was not in the environment.
Third, I am using this link to get to the stubs file.
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/linux/oracle8i/glibc-2.1.3-stubs.tar.gz
    My plan is this.
    1. Update the appropriate glibc rpm to allow the installer to run.
    2. Install Oracle based on the books instruction verbatim.
    3. Do not install the educational database. First install the stubs as above.
    Questions.
Will a custom install allow me to keep the installer from attempting the database?
Once the stubs are installed, where is dbassist located to install the database after the fact?
Please Please help me with this situation. I would really like to learn databases, Oracle in particular. If this does not work, I doubt that I can return the book, considering the cd is open.
Thanks in advance for any kind assistance.

Here is a mini update since my last post...
ok, by updating my glibc stuffs from 2.2.2-4 to 2.2.2-5 I am able to get the runinstaller to work (it echos a bunch of 'map failed' in the console though I wonder if there is something wrong with that)... however since I am only doing now at work I can only try to install on my laptop which is does not have enough HD space. I am down to 230M left and there is no way it will install so I will try it again on my PC after I go home today. Btw, here are the files that I have updated:
    glibc-2.2.2-5mdk.i586.rpm
    glibc-devel-2.2.2-5mdk.i586.rpm
    glibc-profile-2.2.2-5mdk.i586.rpm
    ldconfig-2.2.2-5mdk.i586.rpm
    nscd-2.2.2-5mdk.i586.rpm
You can get these from any mirror sites I think. Or run your MandrakeUpdate under the Config/Packaging menu (you need to select a mirror site by clicking mirror site update).
    As for the SRPMS/glibc-2.2.2-5mdk.src.rpm...
I can't find this file in any of the mirror site.
However, now I am facing another issue. I tried the "echo $ORACLE_HOME" as suggested but it returns me with an empty line same as I try a make up env like "echo $dafadas"... so does this means that it is not reading the ORACLE_HOME in my .bash_profile in the oracle account? I also notice that even I did all the same procedures, while in RH6.2 the oracle install path is my $ORACLE_HOME, in Mandrake8 the path is /home/oracle/OraHome1? I stopped at this step and didn't go forward because 1, there is not enough HD space to continue and 2, I am not sure that the path is correct. If anyone reached this state and went beyond please let me know if I am on the right track or not...
P.S. I remember doing that same thing about not installing the database during the installation for oracle 8.0.5; however, I couldn't access to the database even using my oracle account later on. I don't know if that is a permission problem or something like that.
    Thanks in advance

  • *** glibc detected *** double free or corruption

    Hello
This is an extension of the following thread but brings up problems of its own.
PANIC: fatal region detected, run recovery
I wrote a Python script to upload all my XML files to a container. Earlier I was adding the document without transaction and it went OK. But on querying the container, I got all kinds of error as mentioned in the previous thread.
As suggested, I changed the code to use transaction while inserting the document. Now it fails while inserting the first document itself with error:
    Logic index added
    Status index added
    Difficulty index added
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev): 0x087cf158 ***
    Aborted
The code I am using is:
    http://dpaste.com/20134/
If I change line 35 with line 36 then everything is ok.
Each of my XML document is around 3-10MB and there are around 10000 of them.
So is it a bug with Python library? I have been trying for last 3 weeks to get all the documents up in the container and query it but I always end up having some error or the other.
Is there anyway I can upload all my 10000 docs without any problem and query it?
I looked into dbxml_dump and dbxml_load and it seems that dbxml_load only understands dbxml_dump format which I dont know how it works.
    Any help?

Thanks for pointing that out. It makes sense to at least have a flag that allows dbxml_load_container to continue after a bad document.
As for the python/glibc issue -- I cannot reproduce it using your script, using either of the optional lines (35/36). If you really want to debug this, you might look at using gdb and/or valgrind to get more information (if you're on linux).

    George

  • *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (fast):

    Hello,
I am working with LabVIEW 8.2 PDS on a RedHawk Enterprise Linux 4.0 system.
I have a a VI consisting of a two strings: a control and an indicator string. Both are connected to a CIN object. The control is the input whereas the indicator is the output. Within the C-Code the string input is used as a name of paramter whereas the value of the parameter is saved in the indicator string. This works together with an API of third party supplier.
The whole process of getting the value of the given parameter name is working quite well but from time to time the VI and also LabVIEW crash - after the CIN code had been executed - with follwoing error message:
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (fast): 0xXXXXXXXX ***
    Aborted
Of course it could be the third party API but I put a message at the end of the CIN code which is printed everytime also when LabVIEW crashed.
Is there anybody who has expierenced the same behaviour?
Thanks in advanced for any help or suggestions.
    Johannes

    Hello Johannes,
I did a database search for the error message in our support database, but nothing was found.
A quick google search showed some hits, but nothing was specific enough to point to a reason why LabVIEW would crash.
I'm afraid I can't really help you with this.

  • Using -xipo flag gives error "glibc detected"

    Hi,
I just downloaded the Sun compiler for linux (preview). I compiled MPICH2 with the sun compilers. The readme on the website says to use -xipo flag while compiling as well as linking. But when i do this I get a error message. See below
    # mpif90 example.f -o example -xipo -fast
    *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x0805160b ***
sunf90: Fatal error in ipo: Aborted
The file compiles fine without the -xipo flag.
Does anybody have an idea regarding this issue?
    Thanks,
    Winston

    Hi Alexey,
The actual code i want to compile is proprietary so will not be able to post it. Anyway the compiler gives the same error on a simple mpi file as below so i dont think it has anything to do with the code i am trying to compile. And as i mentioned earlier the code does compile and run without the -xipo flag.
    ------example.f ------
    program mpi_test
    include 'mpif.h'
    integer ierr
    integer rc
    integer myID
    integer nproc
    integer nslaves
    call mpi_init( ierr )
    call mpi_comm_rank( MPI_COMM_WORLD, myID, ierr )
    call mpi_comm_size( MPI_COMM_WORLD, nProc, ierr )
    nSlaves = nProc-1
    write(*,*) 'I am proc #',myID
    call mpi_finalize(rc)
    end
    Thanks

    After that Essbase will start.
Tell me because of what it might be and what to do next.

You may try the following :
If you see that the problems are with Linux machine then perform the following :
"The glibc does a memory allocation check. To overcome these errors set the environment variable MALLOC_CHECK_=0 in the terminal session and execute rwconverter.sh again.
Note: This is just a workaround, the permanent solution is still addressing the memory leak that causes the error."
If specific to Essbase then adjust the java memory allocation.

  • Got an error when install oracle 9i in linux 9 in windows virtual server

    Hi Guys,
I am installing an oracle 9i in my laptop that is linux 9 server which is hosted in windows virtual server. when I ran runInstaller, I got an eror that is can't connect x11 windows server using........ When I ran xterm, I got can't open dispaly. xhost + also dosn't work. Is that ok that I can install oracle in a linux that is installed in windows virtual server? What value can I set to DISPLAY value?
    Thank in advance.

Linux 9? You mean the one that was end-of-lifed in 2004? (Just checking ...)
If yes, you gotta decide whether it's the 'Linux 9 Boxed Version' or the 'Linux 9 Download Version'. The two have completely different compiler and glibc packages that are incompatible. Fix that incompatibility - relative to Oracle's needs - and you will be able to make Oracle9i limp along.

  • How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster

    Dear all:
please advice How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster service ..
    thanks ,,

Without RAC, you can only have one instance manage the database. One instance = one set of processes communicating via IPC.
Unless you know of a way to have processes use memory-based IPC across nodes, you need to pick a node and install & run the database software on that node.

If you have different databases on same node you could choose to not set ORACLE_SID in shell init file but use instead interactive oraenv Oracle script to set the right ORACLE_SID.
