Glitch with photos app

Having problems with the standard Photos app. A few weeks ago I noticed when I tried scoliing through photos (via the general view that displays them in rows) it would quit whenever I got to a particular section. So then the only way to view all of the pictures would be to select one then use the scroll bar to go to any section. Now that I have saved/downloaded a photo format it doesn't like (so it had to 'rebuild library') it quits before it finishes. I'm using an iPad2 with iOS 4.3.3. Thanks for any help in solving this issue.

Happens to me every time with iPhone 6 too.
I really hate iOS 8. So many bugs.

Issue with Photo App

I can't open up Camera Roll (the album with all my photos.) The problem is that on the list of albums, Camera Roll is at the top...and under the label "Albums." When I pull the list down, it comes down, but i can't open up the album. Any ideas?

For those of you needing the step by step...
1 - Press the HOME button until you get back to your HOME screen.
2 - Press the HOME button twice, somewhat rapidly.
3 - The home screen should FADE, and rise up to reveal a row of four icons across the bottom. If your PHOTOS are not one of those four, swipe the icons to the left to reveal the next four. Repeat this until you see PHOTOS.
4 - Press and hold PHOTOS for about 2 seconds. All four visible icons will start to wiggle and a red MINUS sign will appear on each one.
5 - Release your hold on PHOTOS, then tap the red minus sign on PHOTOS. This will "close" the photos app.
6 - Press the HOME button twice, somewhat rapidly.
7 - Relaunch your PHOTOS app. Should be fixed.

Add or edit geotag (GPS) data with Photos App

Geotag is an EXIF metadata associated with a single photo that give the geographical location of where the photo has been taken. At this time, the geotag EXIF is fully supported by Photos (we see the location on a map) and we have the option to strip the information when we share the photo. To work with Photos, the EXIF geotagging info must be embedded with the photo when it is transferred from the camera to the Photos App.
However, many cameras don't have a GPS that sets the photo location. The geotag must be added later manually. Some photo editing software strip EXIF data (or just Geotag data) and sometimes these photo editor apps set geotag of their own (the location where the picture is edited, not the original location where the picture comes from).
It would be nice to add a geotag addition/edition feature to Photos.app.

Now that iCloud drive keeps the photo library synced between all devices it would be nice if there was a way to edit tags, geotags, descriptions, etc. on iCloud.com as well as IOS.
I tested to add GPS using AppleScript, but most of the EXIF field are readonly and we cannot change the GPS tags with Apple Script in iPhoto. It was possible to do that in Aperture, but does not work in Photos.
Right now, it is best to add GPS before importing to Photos.

Any free third-party apps that work with Photos.app?

Since iPhotos no longer work with iOS8 I was looking for a free good third-party app that could work with the Photos.app like the Photo Kit ones.
I would really appreciate if someone could tell me.

Edit Photos with Photos App iOS 5.0.1

Hi,
I modified some pictures with the integrated iOS 5.0.1 Photos App with my iPad 2 and saved the changes.
If I show the picture on the iPad 2 I see the changes, but if I send it per Email or copy the file to my computer (with Sync-Cable) I have only the original version of the picture and not the modified version.
How can I get the modified picture?

How to convert Sony camcorder 1080i AIC .mov files to work with Photos app?

I have a Sony SDR-HD10 camcorder from 2008. It records in 1080i format, and I exported to .mov using the Apple Intermediate Codec, Linear PCM, Timecode format, 1920x1080; Color Profile HD (1-1-1); 2 channel audio.
I have 121 files totaling 105GB. These files all play fine in iMovie. BUT - when I open them in Quicktime X for Yosemite, it converts them into a file that is about twice the space on the drive. The resulting file is Apple ProRes 422, Linear PCM, Timecode, 1888x1062. It also resets the created and edited date/time.
I looked at each video and the resulting quality is about the same.
How can I convert these files into something that Photos will like, but not double in size?
Also, I should point out that I'm not certain I should be using Photos for movies. I used to use iPhoto for pictures, and iMovie for movies, but hardly ever cared to edit videos and thought iMovie was too bulky and confusing for general playback. With Photos, it will upload everything to the cloud (and I'm paying for it), so i can use Photos as my canonical source for all movies and pictures. I have iTunes Match, and my email is hosted by Google, so I'm getting closer to having everything in the cloud. so far, i haven't gone all in with Dropbox for documents, probably because I'm too paranoid about corruption on a remote device like that if there is any concurrent access.

Check out the export settings from iMovie. Your exporting in a very high grade format used for editing, you want a delivery format. Ask on the iMovie forum for more.

Airplay only works with Photos App after upgrade to latest ios 6.1.3

I have upgraded both my iphone4s and ipad2 to ios 6.1.3 and now I dont see the Airplay icon on the Youtube App, Jasmine App, McTube App, Safari etc.
The only place I see the Airplay icon is when browsing photos and videos using the native ios photos app.
I have tried rebooting my iDevices, restarted my xbmc server, but to no affect. Why does it only show up in the native photos App??

New Glitch with mail app setup in "Other" tab after update 5.0.1

Just for the record everyone. After the update to 5.0.1 If you have enabled iCloud on setup after you did a restore and erase-- if you had update problems as I did with my wife's iPhone-- the setup for mail is different. When you try to resetup your old email account in the mail app under the "other" tab it defaults to IMAP only --you do NOT get a choice to choose IMAP or POP after the first setup screen. Why? Lord only knows. Well, I called apple tech support and they were of no help at all and essentially shrugged their collective shoulders. You will all be happy to know that I have solved this problem on my own and I think it bears repeating to all of you, as I am sure others have come upon this problem as well. The solution appears to be to turn off iCloud and delete the iCloud account (keep the data on your phone of course) in settings and then turn off push notifications. Then restart your phone. You may have to restart twice. Then try setting up your mail account under "other". Then when you have filled out the first setup acct screen and go to the next screen. Volia! You should then see the option on the next setup screen to choose IMAP or POP. You can then input the settings as per your POP account as specified by your carrier. One note however, the verify process may take up to a minute or more--very slow for some reason when setting up as a POP acct. Anyway, I thought this was weird because under 5.0-- I would get the option after first email setup screen to choose HTTP, IMAP or POP?? My theory is that somehow IMAP gets defaulted as the only choice because iCloud operates that way if enabled etc. You can then turn iCloud back on as well as resetup acct-- as well as push notifications and your POP email acct should still continue to work as configured. I think this is a definite glitch or bug with the update to 5.0.1? I knew that POP was still supported since my iPhone did not need to be reset or erased after the update to 5.0.1 and my POP acct was still there working as configured but if I tried to add another POP acct under "Other" it would also only default straight to IMAP after setup screen. Image sent with photo app does not show on mail sent box. How do I find it?

My daughter sent a photo from the photo album on her itouch. I search it in her mail sent box, but I cannot find it. Any idea how to find it?

Are you looking into the right mail account on the iPod? If yo send an item like a photo from an app it gets sent from the default account on the iPod.
Did the recipient get the mail message? Maybe it was never sent.

Glitch with photos/text in Messages?

I'm using an iPhone 5, with up to date iOS 8.1. When I go to Photos, select an image and add it to a message, I am taken into the messaging ap and the photo appears as expected. But as soon as I start typing, the first letter is under-case and the second letter I type appears to the left of the first letter. So every time, I have to delete the first couple letters and start over.
This has been happening since I originally installed iOS 8--but did not occur with earlier versions. I Have run all updates and the problem persists. A similar (at least it seems to be) thing happened with my iPad (air) since I installed iOS 8--when I'm on certain websites with commenting, when I click into a commenting field, the first letter is also lower-case and the second letter appears to the left of it (always accompanied by a little flash/reset of the screen)--but this only happens with certain websites (specifically SB Nation network sites). What's going on with this? It seems like a pretty obvious bug in the new software and I would have thought it would be fixed by now--there have been multiple updates.

This new Photo app is not working very well, i can't just simply press "delete" button to delete a photo anymore, really? And I wish I had not deleted my iPhone app... ****!

Appreciate it! I am more of a PS6 and Lightroom person, I only use iPhone to manage small Albums when I am on a time crunch... now it seems a little more difficult to do with Photo app. I guess I will have to get used to that. I don't do edits in iPhoto, just albums, create and delete after upload them to my website. Wish Apple would have a "trash" folder on the sidebar like they did with iPhoto, so we can just drag and drop to "Trash" on what we need to delete.
or even keep it iPhone looking but add all new features and keep the old ones as well lol

What's happening here: iCloud Photos preparing photos for 'Photos' app?

This morning I came back from a weekend trip to Prague, where I took a number of photos with my iPhone 6. On my Mac I fired up iCloud Photos to see if everything was imported properly. That was about an hour ago. Since then I am presented with this screen, saying something like:
"Welcome to Photos app.
With Photos app you may save your whole iCloud Photo Library ...
Preparing photos ... This may take a few minutes.
... will be continued when you leave iCloud.com."
However, with Yosemite 10.10.2 I don't have the new Photos app for Mac on my iMac!
Now what is happening here?

I even liked Apples error messages , because most of them were so helpful ... But now the smart guys at Apple seem to be following a more obfuscating strategy, at least sometimes.

How do I prevent Photos.app from automatically opening when I connect a camera

I don't use Photos, except for a very small exception. I use Lightroom. I don't want Photos.app to open every time I plug in a device like my iphone or camera.
In iPhoto, it was easy to opt out of this feature. I can find no such option with Photos.app.

When I send a photo directly from iPhoto using the Mail app on my iMac, the wrong photo appears on my iPad2 Mail app. However the correct photo shows if I log into gmail on the iPad2. I assume there is a glitch with my "Mail" app on the iPad2.

Update: I was able to have the correct photo show in my email as received on my iPad2 by changing a setting on my IMac prior to sending the photo on the email.
On the iMac, I went into iPhoto > Preferences > Email photos using > Mail (in lieu of "iPhoto"). This seems to have corrected the issue. I'm not sure why. Now the correct photo shows up when received on my iPad2.

Glitch photo app (iphone 4)

When in the opening screen of the photo app, it glitches back to the home screen as soon as I attempt to get into an album. I can't access it through the camera, and it does the same from the facebook app. Restarting my phone did not solve it. Does anyone know how to fix this?
