Glitches in my sound!

I'm hearing a click intermittently from my sound and it's audible when I listen to music or record my own music with a MIDI keyboard. I need to record my music, but I don't need the glitch as a part of it.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Did you install the latest driver set for the device?  there is a new release on motu.com for mavericks.

  • Normal video, then glitch, then no sound

When I play a video on my ipod, it pauses every five seconds and then when it unpauses (by itself), the movie is completely normal, except there is no sound. I use the program xilisoft to convert my videos. They play fine when I play them on my computer, but when they're on my ipod the above happens. Help!!!!

    Welcome to the fourms.
I bet you have update 1.1 right?
1.1 kills the video on 60 gigs. You are going to need to reformat your iPod back to 1.0.
I think you can do that by putting the CD that came with your iPod back into your computer.

  • Since 5.1.1 update can not play music in vehicle. Vehicle is 08 Toyota tacoma with fire wire connection into back of of stock stereo unit. Acessory connected screen glitches and no sound music or notifications will play

Have tried everything including several restores, set up as new phone. Also deleted firmware file in itunes and restored with fresh firmware all results in the same symptom. Have talked with 3 Apple tech support and no solution. Also tried another 4s 5.1.1 with stereo and it worked perfect so definately an issue with my phone not cable etc....

  • Sound glitches after upgrading from win 2000 to win

    Hello!
I have this sound card since 2 years and never had any problems... but since I've upgraded from windows 2000 to windows xp, there's a lot of glitches in the sound coming from the card (it happens with all softwares I use). I'm using a sound blaster audigy 2 nx (latest drivers) on a P4 2GHz with 52 Mb Ram. Thanks in advance!

What version of the Oracle ODBC driver are you using? 8.01 is not a driver version-- it should be something like 8.1.7.x.y (assuming you're using one of the 8.1.7 Oracle ODBC drivers).
Since Oracle desupported the 8.1.7 database almost a year ago, do you have the option of upgrading the Oracle client to a supported release (probably 9.2 in your case)?
Unfortunately, I don't know what your particular problem is, but I have certainly seen problems mixing the latest and greatest versions of applications with older versions of the Oracle client.

  • Adding audio/Music is this a glitch?

When you have laid down the audio tracks and then go back to add additional audio, i find that it pushes any music that has been laid down forward that same amount as was added, thus setting everything from that point off on the music tracks line? is this a glitch? is there a resolve to this? i find this happens in imovie as well. . .you've got everything set perfectly to the nth and then you realize you forgot to add a small music track and you go back in and it sets the timing off the whole thing. . .any help with this one?

When you have laid down the audio tracks and then go back to add additional audio, i find that it pushes any music that has been laid down forward that same amount as was added, thus setting everything from that point off on the music tracks line? is this a glitch?
Nope. Not a glitch. It sounds like you're doing an INSERT edit when you should be doing an OVERWRITE edit.

  • Burned a DVD but has bad glitches when I played in DVD player

    Hey-
I have the rights to the dvd I am trying to burn, I was told to use disc utility to burn a copy and it did burn it but it turned out glitchy like when someone has Dish Network or Direct TV and it rains. The picture is there but freezes and glitches and the sound is kinda there too. What did I do wrong and what do I need to use or do to burn a good copy?
My friend says they may have sent me a locked copy of my dvd and that I will have to contact the place that made it for me but I would think it wouldn't have burned at all if that was the case and I sure as **** would have had to pay for the right for a locked copy.

I made a disc image saved it and burn the copy, I followed these directions:
Insert your DVD into your Mac. Most Macs will automatically launch DVD Player. Once it launches, quit it. You should see your DVD disc mounted on your Desktop.
Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities). Select the DVD disc from the list on the left. You will notice that there are two DVD icons--select the one slightly indented (this is the DVD itself, whereas the first one is the drive).
Click on "New Image" in the Disk Utility main window.
Choose a name and a destination from the "Save As..." window. Keep in mind that your destination should have enough space to copy the entire DVD, which can be over four gigs.
In the "Save As..." window, be sure the "Image Format" selection is set to "DVD/CD Master" and the "Encryption" selection is set to "none". Click Save.
After copying the DVD to your destination drive, return to Disk Utility. Your new Disk Image will appear in the list on the left of the Disk Utility window. Eject the original DVD disc from your Mac.
Insert a writable DVD disc into your Mac. Select your newly created Disk Image from the list on the left of the Disk Utility window. Click on "Burn" in the Disk Utility main window. Select your burn speed and whether you would like to Verify Burned Data.
You will receive confirmation once you DVD is successfully burned and you are all set with a fresh copy of your DVD disc. Simply save your new Disk Image and you can make a copy whenever you may need it.
When I played it in the DVD player, it loaded and began to play but was distored like when the TV glitches in a storm. You could see that it had attempted to burn correctly but something caused it to not turn out right and the audio was just as messed up.
I didn't use a great quality disc but my friend burned her iMovie on them just fine. They are 16x so maybe that is my problem, not sure does this help you to know what I am doing wrong???!!

  • Controlling A Single Sound

Hi. I have created a CD ROM and am trying to iron out this
glitch with my sound. I have a sound clip (trains.wav) that is
activated when I play a small animation. I have a Stop button and a
play button for this sound. This animation and sound is contained
in a movie clip where i have created the variables sound on and
sound off on a layer. For each button i call on these variables to
turn the sound to 0 or to 100. e.g:
    layer code: var soundOff = new Sound(trains.wav);
    button code: on(Release){
    soundOff.setVolume(0)
This all works as expected. The problem is that I specify
that the single sound is turned off as seen above, but when i go to
play a video on a different movie clip, the sound is switched off
here as well, and cant be turned on till i go back to the animation
and click the sound on button? I really need help on code to toggle
    this one sound!

    sprecks1,
    > For each button i call on these variables to turn
    >> the sound to 0 or to 100. e.g:
    >
    > layer code: var soundOff = new Sound(trains.wav);
The Sound constructor takes a movie clip as its optional
    parameter.
You're passing in what *might* be a movie clip -- a nested
    structure where
one clip's instance name is "wav" inside another whose
    instance name is
"trains" -- but my hunch is that you're passing in the name
    of your sound
file. By doing that, you're effectively attaching your Sound
    instance to
the whole movie, as if you had left the parameter out
    altogether. Note the
    difference here:
    var soundOff = new Sound(someMovieClip);
soundOff.loadSound("trains.wav"); // this must be linkage id
Now, your sound is associated with a clip instance named
    someMovieClip.
when you set its volume to zero ...
    on (release) {
    soundOff.setVolume(0);
... you'll only be addressing the sound associated with that
    clip.

  • Scratchy sounds !?...

    Hi ,
my set up is : AIFF files/iTunes library in W.Digital 1TB drives ->via powered Logitech USB hub to late 2008 alu iMac w/ 2,66Ghz C2D, 4GB RAM, 320HD ( 140 GB available..) -> via 1mt USB cable to Cambridge Audio DacMagic -> via 5mt Qued interconnect to Onkyo Integra stereo amp -> via Supra 4mm cables to B&W DM603 S2 speakers. all connections are O.K.
The W.D drives (3 of them..) Logitech hub, iMac & DacMagic are all connected to my APC Back - UPS ES 700 which still has ''room to spare'' power wise..
adding the C.Audio Dacmagic just made music sound fabulous
a couple of days ago while listening to some songs i already had listened to with the DacMagic, they suddenly had occasional bursts of ''scratchy'' treble ''distortion'' ( if that's what it was !?..) most unpleasant & which, if louder, i think could damage the speakers.
i went to the Audio MIDI Setup.app to check & all was well - so i decided to erase said tracks. went on doing whatever i was doing & later, just in case, took the tracks out of the trash, reimported them to iTunes & gave them a listen : all nice again, no ''scratchyness'' ...nothing !!?
at the time i had Safari, Apple Mail going & nothing else - oh, before i forget : i had downloaded & installed Derman Enterprise's iMac Fan Control & had upped by around 10% the fan's speeds - i've been feeling my iMac running a bit warmer than usual the last few days...
anyone has a clue what might be the reason for the ''glitch'' in the sound ? i did a bit of a search for other ''scratchy tracks'' but couldn't find any, all the rest sounds absolutely fine & now the ''scratchy'' ones sound fine too. are there apps/processes/other? known to interfere with the sound output ? even though it's outputting via USB not via the soundcard ?! the only other factor i can think of is the air con is on but i always have that in the warmest summer days anyway so... i'm at a loss here & any help would be greatly appreciated
    best wishes to all
    Nuno

    Dear Tania,
as for the buzzing sound, that is pretty "normal" on at least the 17-inch-PowerBooks. I had three of them in a very short period of time (the first two were defective), and all exhibited this behavior. Also, you can find many accounts of that on the Internet. I have, however, never heard of this being a fatal flaw; just a major annoyance. (Try to set processor performance to "minimal" and it should go away for the most part.) It has to do with (in my opinion) poor quality control and even poorer hardware design (and I don´t mean the looks) on Apple´s side.
As for the harddisk, it again would be normal that there is disk access about every 30 seconds, even if you do next to nothing (the process "update" writes cached data to disk in 30-second-intervals). If your HD is active still more often it could have to do with Spotlight gone wild (greetings to Apple´s software engineers).
All in all, from what you tell us, I don´t think that your PowerBook will die anytime soon.
    Jochen
PS. Before I get bashed here, I want to say that I´m content with most what Apple delivers. I have switched from Windows and wouldn´t go back. However, I experienced far more problems with my PowerBook and Mac OS X than with my laptop and Windows XP.

  • Am I alone in suffering from MacBook audio glitches??

No matter what configuration I use, glitches materialize during sound-on-sound applications. Troubleshooting and measures to fix the problem have been fruitless. I believe this is nothing short of a faulty design in the hardware or software, and that it affects all units of this particular model, Mac OS X version 10.6.8. Any ideas?

A passcode is like a combination padlock, only a lot more secure. Either remember the combination or record it somewhere. The ability to retrieve it using other means would defeat its purpose. Knowledge of some "back door" procedure to discover it would circle the globe in less than a minute, and result in a justifiable public outcry.
    From the iPad User Guide:
Important: If you forget your restrictions passcode, you must restore the iPad software. See Updating and restoring iPad software on page 131.
Restoring the iPad software removes everything including your passcode.
Restoring from a backup restores everything including your passcode, if one was configured when you backed up.
Also see iTunes: Restoring iOS software
That is all that there is and there is no more.

  • MS 6758 ( 875P Neo FIS2R ) Possible Bios Glitch

Just got this new board the other day and as most would attest to doing and hour or so after getting it running, I decided to update the bios to the latest version from v1.4 to v1.6.  OK then, no real dramas except for one minor issue.  If I select QUICK BOOT and DISABLE the LOGO screen so as to show the post screen instead, the computer locks up on ASSIGN RESOURCES TO ALL ISA.  If I re-enable the logo screen ie. the MSI logo etc, then it boots fine.  If I disable this logo screen, and also disable quick boot so it does it's full memory check, it boots fine also.
This only started since flashing the bios to v1.5.  I then flashed to v1.6 and it still did the same thing.  Very weird indeed.  Everything is hunky dory though.  No problems whatsoever.  Just the above small glitch.  It sounds to me like a possible glitch in the bios code to me.  Just curious if other people are having the same problem.
It doesn't matter what the other settings are throughout the bios.  The above 2 settings are the only ones I have found that seem to effect this problem.  If anyone else can simulate the same scenario as what I have, then let me know.  It may just me a hardware config issue.  Who knows.  Nothing is OCed.  All stock speeds.  Apart from the memory timings.
    MSI, are you listening?

could it be MSI's QC? Seems like people have had alot of mixed success with this board. Some people say it's the greatest since sliced bread some people can't get it to boot. Everyone's system has a different config so it's hard to say but would seem that there's just too many ongoing issues to be a consistant incompatiblity with components used with the board. Chi Pete your sound card, look into one by Philips called Acoustic Edge. I know it's not a SB Audigy but that's the whole point for me, no IEEE 1394 to deal with. Until Creative allows that to be disabled or removes it completely from their cards I'll never buy another one. Anyway the Philips got some pretty good reviews, looks like the software has some interesting control abilities and comes setup like a SB Live, no firewire, no usb, no parallel port just a game port and audio connections. And BTW how does the Cirrus Logic chipset sound? or does your Santa Cruz have a different chipset?

  • Songs have glitches and skip during the song

As of version 12.1, my songs skip and glitch and it sounds horrible. Each song (with the exception of a few) stop playing for a split second about 50-100 times during the playing of each song. Most of my music has a bitrate of 320 kbps and sounded perfect and smooth before this update. Now, all of a sudden, it plays songs like I have a cd player and am jogging. Before, the songs in my iTunes and on my ipod sounded smooth. Then I updated to 12.1, synced my ipod, now both in my iTunes and on my smart ipod, it sounds skippy and glitches throughout. What is this?  Thank you.

There is an alternative version for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version of 12.1.0.77.  The alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer.  The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio - one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8.
If this doesn't address the issue, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.
By the way, yours is the first example I've seen of iPod playback issues after updating to 12.1.  One of the changes in this release does relate to sync processes so you may have discovered a second issue - the one related to playback in iTunes seems to be related to conflicts or incompatibilities with Windows audio services and drivers.

  • X305-q725 freezing up, but not in safe mode

    Yo hi you guys doing!
I have showed up on this website a couple times now regarding my qosmio x305 Q725 for support, And I always appreciate the help from some people in this forum . So here I am AGAIN XD !!
Today (Actually yesterday) the problem I am having with my gaming laptop seems to be just as unique as the other ones (the usual).
To sum it up, I was watching HD videos with VLC on my laptop, when the PC froze on me with a glitching and looping sound (like a CD player attempting to read a scratched cd). ctrl + alt + del wouldn't do a thing, mouse was frozen as well... Only the power off button held for a couple seconds seemed to do something useful (somewhat anyways).
Though my laptop originally came with a 64 GB SSD with vista (32 and 64 bit) and another 320 GB D drive, I replaced both of them about 7 months ago. The new items are now: a 128 GB SSD drive with Win7 64Bit, a 500GB 7200rpm d drive.
In order to make a quick check wether or not it was the windows at fault here, I changed the C drive quickly from the 128 SSD with Win 7 back to the original 64 SSD with vista 64bit on it. Normal start up with either drives will result in another freezing and lock up laptop a couple seconds after starting it up normally, so there really is nothing to be done on that front. But when I start it in safe mode, I was able to keep it running for a good 5minutes and actually shut it off normally!
From device manager, there was no exclamation points or irregularities (Like when my graphics card stopped functioning). The laptop seems to make the normal mechanical noises (vents, cd player, hard drives being waken up) as usual.
There you have it! Think I did not miss any points. So I guess I am wondering if this is a: Hardware problem?! though device manager won't see it... Or a software problem?! Though even my old vista exhibits the same symptoms, problem is definitely repeatable with both windows, and therefore 2 very different set of drivers (those in win7 being newer then those in the Vista drive). Maybe even a BIOS issue here?
Thanks for reading my wall of text this far , and maybe for the future help! (Using my room mate's Mac, I won't be online all the time! But I will check up asap!).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Problem's been solved for a week now, I thought I would post the solution to help other users who would use the search index.
It was a VIRUS (Actually a couple of them) which was affecting my OS most likely on the D drive (not the C drive). Though I didn't thought it could possibly be one since my Norton Antivirus 360 never picked up anything, also I changed physical C drive (Replaced the C drive from a 128GB SSD with Win7 to a 64GB SSD with vista on it which was working well the last time I used it). Completely changing C drives didn't solved the problem at all, I had no idea viruses could also be taking shelter in the D drive as well. The good people of Geek squad solved my problem quickly by analysing both hard drives with an antivirus from another computer so that the affected drives wouldn't be in use by windows directly (Hopefully I explained this right, but roughly, if your drives are in the computer, scanning for viruses may very well proove useless.... yeah !!!).
As far as they told me, if I had scanned them using another computer with an up to date antivirus in a way that the concerned drives are connected through USB, and are concidered by the computer as external devices, the antiviruses should be able to detect the threats, but not if you connected it through SATA or other "internal" device. So if you guys don't want to spend $200 at best buy I suggest you try this!
So there you go hopefully I will help other people with this explanation. I know I am not very clear in explaining it but I did my best, my knowledge is limited with computers!

  • MacBook Pro "13 2010 several problems with functionality.

I've had my computer for about a year now and I've been having many problems since about 3 months after I upgraded to Mavericks. The machine would completely freeze, glitch, make crackling sounds that would persist until I forcefully shut the machine down by holding the power button for several seconds. This is one of the many problems I have with it. When I am typing a paper, or I'm watching a video, the machine's display will change to a solid color at random. After this, I reboot the machine and it gives me cpu caller 0 panic errors. It also will turn itself off and beep several times until I hold the power button down. I've done research and know that these are kernel panics, but I have no idea what causes this. I took it in to the genius bar at my local Apple Store, the guy named Tucker ran the diagnostics on my machine and he told me that the tests came back negative for issues and he then went to check the logs and saw that I had several kernel panic errors. He began to tell me that the 0 in the panics meant that they were software related and insisted that they wipe the cache to see if would help, and then if that didn't work then they offered to wipe it completely and reinstall Mavericks. They did so, and not even a day later the machine began to do the same things again with the solid screen colors, beeping, cpu caller 0's, and the crackling sound and screen rainbows. Even after updating to Yosemite, the problems still persist.
Can anyone please help me? I don't know what more I can do.

Here is the most up to date panic report.

  • Core Audio

I would be interested if any other Powerbook Titanium user has come across the same problem I am having with core audio.
I can only explain the problem as "a stall" or glitch in the sound output. It is very irregular but very annoying. It happens when playing tracks through iTunes and also when I am playing my guitar through Garage Band. The problem seems to be internal as I have the problem with external speakers & earphones.
Unfortunately it is difficult to hear the glitch through the on board speakers.
My battery packed up over a year ago, as they do, haven't replaced it so run off power pack.
    ANY IDEAS OUT THERE ?

Which model TiBook do you have? How much RAM is installed? Do you know the speed of your hard drive? What is your hard drive capacity? How much free space do you have on it, now?
From my experience, I find that you can get "glitchy" audio when your hard drive is too slow, too fragmented, too full, or is failing. You can also get the same kind of glitches if you don't have enough RAM, or if your CPU is on the slower side. Aside from those rather simple-to-fix causes, it's possible that the sound board (built-in to the logic board on TiBooks, I think) is bad. That would mean you'd have to replace the entire logic board, which is pretty expensive (less so if you can do it yourself.)
One way to rule out the hard drive would be to run Disk Utilities, to see if the disk is ok, and then running a defragmentation program, such as the one that comes with Norton Utilities. You could also try deleting old, unnecessary files, if your drive is too full. Finally, if you don't have a defrag program, back up your hard drive, reformat it, and only reinstall the programs/files that relate to the problem. You could also install more RAM, but if the problem is not RAM-related, you'd be out the cost of the new RAM and still be at square one.
When did the problem start? Did it start after you installed a new program? Sometimes problems can be caused by software issues, so if you first noticed it after installing something (anything) new, delete it. If the problem goes away, you might be ok.
I hope this has been somewhat helpful. Good luck!

  • Unable to wake screen using magic mouse or trackpad after installing magic mouse

    Dear Everyone,
I am using mbp 15 inch early 2011 with 2 GHZ intel i7 processor and a  4gb ram. I would like to tell you that i have installed the mac os x lion and quite happy with the improvement. however, there are same changes which i am not sure whether it is that my mac that causeing theproblem or the bug from the lion itself. i am unable to wake my mbp screen using my magic mouse or trackpad after installing lion. i believe that my mbp has not really enter sleep mode as i dont see the sleep indicator at the bottom right corner flickering. i also believe that it is only the screen that goes to sleep while the hard disk is not. Normally a single swing  of the magic mouse or a single swipe of the trackpad will normally wake the screen. in order to wake the screen now is only to click on the magic mouse or trackpad. furthermore, scrolliing page using magic mouse also become unusual after installing the lion. does any of u happen to come across these problems as well? Is there any other way to downgrade to snow leopard back? (i ask this in case that this issue really cannot be fixed). Please help me on this issue. Thank you very much for taking your time to read and reply this thread.

First, Lion does not wake on mouse or trackpad movement, only clicks or keyboard presses.  This is presumably to avoid waking the computer from display or full sleep accidentally, and is just how Lion works.  It's going to take some getting used to, personally, but I've noticed my mac hasn't woken up on it's own.  Apparently moving about my apartment moves the mouse enough that Snow Leopard used to wake the iMac.  This is not a glitch, and unfortunately, a downgrade is a complicated matter, involving erasing the HD entirely, and restoring from a backup created in Snow Leopard and not used with Lion at all, or manually importing important bits of data, as libraries upgraded by new versions of Mail, iCal, etc will not be compatible with the old versions.
In terms of your mouse scrolling, describe it in a bit more detail; Lion introduces "natural" scrolling, where instead of the mouse wheel moving the "window" over the contents, it moves the contents through the window, like scrolling on an iPhone or iPad.  In other words, think of your finger on the mouse as pressing on the page you're looking at and dragging it upward through the field of view.  I remember long ago thinking my very first scrolling mouse was backwards, and then adjusting to "down is down, up is up".  If this is the behavior you're experiencing, this also is the way Lion works.  This, however, can be changed in the mouse or trackpad preference pane in system preferences.  Simply deselect "natural" scrolling.
In a more general sense, its usually not a good idea to do a major software upgrade on your primary machine unless you're willing to deal with some zero-day glitches.  It sounds like the issues you're having aren't actually glitches, and you should be happy for that, but in the future, you might want to wait a few weeks for other users with more experience with major OS launches to find those bugs and point them out to the community for Apple to fix.  In terms of an OS launch, I think this has been absolutely one of the best.  I'm seeing very few major glitches resulting in lost data, few things that would really destroy my personal workflows, and compatiblity issues with other products seems to be well documented or negligible.  It's also a bit hasty to assume that mere hours after launch Apple would have any ability to fix ACTUAL problems with the OS.  My recommendation would be to get used to the change; having to click the mouse at least means you'll never accidentally wake your machine bumping against your desk.
