Glitches in Yosemite with Macmail

I just downloaded Yosemite a few days ago on my MacBook Pro.  I now have Mac OSX Yosemite, version 10.10.1.
My issue is with my mail (MacMail) version 8.1 - I used to be able to link an image to a URL through "add link" and now it's not letting me.
I just sent someone an email the same exact way I always do but now the image doesn't link.  I've tried sending it to myself several times with various URL's and....nothing!  When I receive the email and click on the image, it does nothing.  When I double click it, it opens 'Preview' and simply shows me the image.
Does anyone know if there's a glitch in Yosemite as it relates to this very important (for me) feature?
Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

No, I mean a template for the whole message. If you don't know what that is, your not using one.
Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. Any custom stationery that you created may be lost. Ask for instructions if you want to preserve that data. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Nothing -   No issues on my end.

    Only if it's worldwide.
What glitch?"  What makes you think this "glitch" is Apple's fault?

  • Problem with MacMail on MacBook Air - mail with 32MB attachment appearing in "recovered messages" folder every 12 seconds

Problem with MacMail on MacBook Air
3 days ago I failed to send a mail with a large (32MB) attachment - and it is no longer in my outbox, draft mails or sent file.
BUT a copy of this same mail now appears every about 15 seconds in my "recovered messages" folder
I noticed when I received a system error saying I had a disk almost full issue - there were over 580 copies of the mail with 32MB attachment in the "recovered messages file"
I deleted them all, and deleted the Trash
BUT the message still keeps re-appearing every 15 seconds or so.  So I keep deleting them.
Since then I have not been able to receive mail (altho' I am able to send) and Mail is VERY slow
    I am running MAC OS X 10.6.8
    I am running Mail version 4.6 (1085)

    Hi Daddyfred,
CS4 Photoshop has not been tested on Yosemite. But still you can try the Java 6 update using the below link.

  • Replace Yosemite with Mavericks?

Yosemite is not good for my iMac mied 2011. Can I Replace Yosemite with Mavericks?

No. The only thing you can do is to erase the disk and then reinstall Mavericks.
You can only do that if you still have a copy of the Mavericks installer because it is no longer available from Apple.

It happens sometimes. Delete the current copies, don't hide from iTunes in the cloud if prompted, close iTunes, reopen, download from iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
While downloading click the download icon at the top right and uncheck Enable simultaneous downloads. You may find it more reliable that way.

That is correct.  Macs do not pair to iPhones, iPads, etc.
However, pairlng is not required to get Handoff to work.  Both devices must have Bluetooth on, but they need not (indeed cannot) be paired.

  • Why can't i download yosemite with 10.6.8 osx

my late 2009 imac will not let me download yosemite with 10.6.8 osx... any suggestions?

Why? Do you meet all the requirements:
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

How do I sync GMail with MacMail? I want to kepe my calendar on my Mac and then sync GMail to that. I can go the other way but haven't found a sync GMail to Mac. Bidirectional is also OK. Ideas?

Well, the standard way is to set up IMAP access to your GMail (you do this in webmail, under "Settings / Forwarding and POP/IMAP". You then configure Mail.app with the correct IMAP settings.

Like what? Software updates are performed in the background if you haven't changed the default. Once done the old version is replaced by the new version wherever it resides.

Alright y'all (jklawmd, Supritha Papannajklawmd, and anyone else having this issue),
I was having this same exact issue, and I actually referred to your post hoping for a fix (that I obviously did not find), however, I did discover a work around!!! I use "Adobe AIR" for my "Pandora One Desktop Application", but every time I opened the installer for "Pandora One" it gave me the same exact error. Here is what I did to fix it (Hoping it helps y'all too):
BEFORE starting ensure that the "AIR Program" that you want to install is downloaded and located in your "Downloads" folder
Uninstall "Adobe AIR" using the included uninstaller (Navigate to your "Utilities" folder in a "New Finder Window" in order to find this, once you're there you can't miss it)
Delete all previous "Adobe AIR" downloads
Download a new "Adobe AIR" Installer from "Adobe" (Sounds redundant I know, but bear with me)
Install "Adobe AIR" using the most recent download
VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THE "AIR PROGRAM" YET
Once the "Adobe AIR" Installation is complete navigate to "File" and select "New Finder Window"
Once there select the "Applications" folder from the menu bar on the left of the window (Should be under "Favorites")
Navigate to your "Utilities" Folder (Again)
Locate the icon for "Adobe AIR Application Installer" and open it; This will open a new window
Once the new window is open, navigate to your "Downloads" folder and locate the "AIR Program" that you want to install select the "AIR Program" and click "Open" (Bottom right hand corner)
    TaDa!!!
Following those steps should culminate in the initialization of the install process for the program that you weren't able to install before, and from there it is business as usual (selecting and answering to the necessary install prompts for the "AIR Program"). It seems like there is a glitch somewhere between "Yosemite" and "Adobe AIR" that prevents the "Adobe AIR Application Installer" from auto-running properly when you try to open the sub-program. However, initializing the "Adobe AIR Application Installer" FIRST allows it to get up and running before the sub-program communicates with it. This fixed it for me right away, please let me know whether it works for your specific "Adobe AIR"/"AIR Program" set, if not I will download your "AIR Program" and see if I can't find another way. Also, has anyone contacted either Adobe Support or Apple Support directly with this yet??
I hope this helps, personally, I don't know where I would be without my "Pandora One Desktop Application"!!!

  • I'm having a graphics glitch in Yosemite.

    Hi,
I just installed the update for Yosemite OS (10.10.1) on my 2013 MacBook Air, and my screen graphics started going weird. This is the first problem I've really encountered with Yosemite. The most the graphics effects is Google Chrome, I cannot scroll as the display becomes so bad it is unable to read the screen. The glitch also slightly occurs when swiping between full screen desktop modes. Any suggestions? I've already turned off "Reduce Transparency" in Accessibility, and it has done absolutely nothing.
This is extremely frustrating! Someone help!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • German Umlaute don't work after upgrading to Yosemite with Japanese Romaji Layout set on U.S.

    Hi everyone,
    previously i could just use [ALT] + [U] and then press [A] / [a] / [U] / [u] / [O] / [o] to generate the german umlaut version.
After installing Yosemite this does not work anymore, which is kinda frustrating. Cause it forces me to add another keyboard layout and switch when i have to write a german umlaut.
I was previously using 'Input Source' > 'Japanese' > Enabled Romaji (Romaji layout was set to U.S.) & Hiragana.
For testing purpose i added the Standard U.S. Layout and writing the Umlaut with the keyboard shortcut still works there. So that's why i think this is a Romaji specific bug.
Has anyone any idea what's wrong ? Did Apple change something ?
    Best Regards

Before I stumbled upon this thread, there was no flag at all. I had the character viewer there because pre-Yosemite it was the only way to access emoji (and things like arrows and other special symbols) in many apps (and still is for my Adobe CS5 apps). Additionally, I would use the keyboard viewer from time to time as a way to learn which keys to use for other special symbols (bring up the keyboard viewer and press option or shift-option or other combinations and it would show you a preview of what each key would generate).
While reading this thread, I added more input sources (US International and US Extended) and would see the flags. The flags replaced the previous character/keyboard viewer menu icon. I switched between each flag to test my issue under each, to no avail.  Then I tried adding the Spanish keyboard but still had the same issue.
Now I've removed all the input sources except the primary US keyboard. There is no longer a flag in my menu, it's gone back to the character viewer icon.
The issue is still there. When I type option-r, u, or g, in any app nothing happens at all.
Unfortunately, neither auto-substitution nor press-and-hold work in Adobe CS5 apps, which is where I need to use these special characters the most.
    Thank you for reaching out

  • Airdrop on Macs running Mavericks, Yosemite with iOS 8 iDevices

Found this information in discussion with Apple Advisors (and wasted a lot of time doing so) only to find a clear disconnect between KB articles. The current basic article clearly states that any Mac newer than 2012 can use AirDrop:
In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
your iOS device needs to include a lightning connector
your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed
your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model with OS X Yosemite installed
Your Mac and iOS device both need bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. You do not have to be connected to a specific Wi-Fi network.
Perhaps that should be (amended to) read, "... current production model Mac needs to be..." Simply saying that the MacPro line ended. Or simply delete the article in favor of the correct one? In either case though, it seems a bad idea that a computer which can run the latest OS cannot use all of the features of the latest OS, including the features that are described as being available a wide range of models of Mac machines in current production. (insert Sad Apple face here).
More definitively this article should receive wider distribution than it has... :
    AirDrop
AirDrop between Mac computers and iOS devices is supported by the following Mac models:
    MacBook Air (2012 or newer)
    MacBook Pro (2012 or newer)
    iMac (2012 or newer)
    Mac mini (2012 or newer)
    Mac Pro (Late 2013)
Possible workarounds include using iCloud Drive, Photo Stream sharing.

    I got my answer:
"In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed and your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model. To transfer files between two Mac computers, you need one of the Mac models listed below and OS X Lion or later."
Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices
Thank you anyway for your help :-)
