Glitchy streaming video- T440S - Win7

Would appreciate any advice with this issue. Anytime I am streaming video (the usual suspects--youtube, amazon, netflix, etc), the video gets choppy, horizontal line glitches frequently, especially if things are moving quickly on the screen. This doesn't happen if I'm playing a video from my hard drive--only streaming. The glitches always occur in the same place in a video, and while I'm usually in chrome the same problem occurs in other browsers. Any thoughts as to how to fix? If you need more information, happy to go find it if I know where to look. Thanks in advance!

Pixellation is possible; the hardware might have been applying fancier scaling algorithms to make scaled video look better. The software renderer might be using less computationally expensive algorithms because it's considerably less efficient than the hardware renderer.
Does it still show the horizontal lines with the new driver and HW acceleration disabled? What about with HW acceleration enabled?

  • Streaming videos stop mid-stream

I am having ongoing issues with watching streaming videos. Any video - Youtube, Quicktime (e.g. from the Apple site), etc. - only partially loads and plays. Sometimes reloading the webpage gets me further, but often it will stop again. This happens on all the browsers I use: Safari, Firefox and Chrome. It also happens on both my Macbook Pro and my daughter's Macbook (also running 10.6.2). It doesn't happen on the Windows computer on our network.

Check your internet connection speeds. My speed is way lower than it should be. Like more than 10x slower in OSX than in Win7 on the same iMac. I think the problem is there. Try speedtest.net to see what you get. Run it immediately after booting and then try running it again. I get a fast initial run and then it drops to a fraction of that initial speed. Almost like a buffer or something fills up and then slows everything down. So far I have not figured this one out.

  • Streaming video pauses while the audio continues to play

I am using Firefox 3.6.12 on a Desktop pc with Windows 7 x64 os. Recently the streaming video will pause, or freeze, but the audio will continue playing. After a second or two the video will catch up with the audio and everything is in sync. This happens frequently during the course of the video being played. It has happened on both Hulu.com and Netflix.com. The buffering is good at 480, usually with 3 to 4 bars.

Sorry I can not give an immediate solution.
There seem to have been a few problems with Flashplayer recently. The sound problem was thought to have been solved, but has been around for a while.
#Please state what version of FlashPlayer you are currently using.
    # then update to the current version, and confirm what version that is
    * note the Flash site will check this for you and provide any download you need<br/>with Flash enabled in Firefox navigate to<br/>http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
As you have Win7 may I ask you to try using Internet Explorer and say whether or not that also suffers this problem?
Please also confirm which version of Firefox you are using? <br/> (note a minor update could be released this week so are you on 13'''.0''' )

  • Choppy streaming video FMS 3.5

    All,
I'm new to the streaming video world but I do have FMS 3.5 up and running and have encoded some wmv and mp4 videos to flv using adobe encoder CS4.  I followed the tutorials and have created the swf files in flash CS4 and the videos are streaming as expected.
The primary issue I am having is the videos tend to be choppy at times.  They pause, run slowly, audio pops and just overall; glitchy.  Typically at the beginning but some times throughout.  The test files at the FMS admin page stream fine without issue from the same server.  We have tested the site/streams from multiple providers all at cable modem speed or above.
We are running FMS 3.5 developer version and wish to purchase the full version but I really need to fix this issue to prove it's value.
As a bit of background we are running/testing FMS 3.5 from a server with the following specs:
    Redhat EL 4.6-32
SuperMicro X7DBU Intel Xeon QuadCore DualProc Sata [2Proc]
    Intel Xeon-Harpertown 5420-Quadcore [2.5GHz]
    OEM 4GB ECC FB-DIMM DDR2
Mainboard \ Onboard \ SATAII Controller
    (2) Western Digital WD Caviar RE 16 WD2500YS
    Uplink speed 10 (Mbps)
Bandwidth allotment 2000 GB(Virtual Private Rack)
Any input regarding how to test to identify the issue or past experiences with the same issue will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.  If there are any experienced individuals out there that could get us up to speed quickly we could discuss that offline.
    Thanks!
    Keith

    Hi Jay,
    Answers to your questions:
    1. What bitrate (audio+video) are your files encoded at?
FLV output file from original wmv: using On2 VP6, 638x480, framerate 29.97, stereo audio 128kbps, video bitrate encoding VBR, encoding pass one, 1,500kbps, undershoot 90, quality: good.
    2. When you experience this choppy playback, how many clients are consuming video from the server at that time?
1 or 2; we're only testing now and there is almost no load
    3. What is the bufferTime set to in your client side code?
I'm not sure what this is set to; I know we haven't adjusted it.  Where would I find this code?
    4. Is the server in a datcenter, or is it running on a residential or commercial ISP line?
server is in the Seattle Softlayer datacenter
Thanks so much for the help!
    Keith

  • Unable to see streaming video

When I go to youtube or anywhere else to see streaming video I can't. I have updated the OS, and even reloaded the OS. I didn't do a reformat yet, I was hoping someone would tell me what I am missing, or what is conflicting. What app does the Mac use to see videos ??

Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and select your volume and then select Repair Permissions.

  • Unable to view streaming video

I could view a streaming video using following address rtsp://138.133.71.2:554/file/ when using Quicktime 6. However, I have upgraded to Quicktime 7 Pro and I am now unable to view the streamed video. I am using Windows 2000 on a PC and streaming the video from a camera through a DSP Board to the PC. (The PC is not connect to the Internet)

Download the Flash Player Uninstaller and Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers) by right clicking and selecting "Save Link as".
    Close Firefox.
    Run the uninstaller.
Run the installer to replace the plugin.
    Open Firefox and click Tools>Add-ons.
Check under Plugins that Flash Player is "always activated".
If it still won't load, check your other plugins. There may be an ad blocker that's preventing it.

  • Yoga 3 pro cant stream video on external display or laptop

Saw a previous post on this, didnt seem like it was fixed.  Having real issues with hooking up to an external display, when the web browser (chrome) is extended to the external display, my internet lags hard...i cant even stream a vid on youtube.
I've disabled realtek (fixed cracking speakers) tried a completely new cord set up from micro hdmi to dvi...nothing works.  When i drag the browser window back to the laptop screen, it works fine.
Ok, 5 min follow up:  it seems im now having the similar issue with streaming video on my laptop screen....sound streams fine, the video seems to shake back and forth very quickly, runs, then shakes again...seems to only happen intermittenltly on the laptop...but display shows real lag and shake.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Have you tried changing the screen resolution on the Yoga to something lower than what it is set on? A 1080i screen has a resolution of 1,920 × 1,080, my Yoga 3 Pro has a default resolution of 3200 x 1800. I have not tried connecting my Y3P to the TV yet, but the conversion could be causing an issue.

  • My macbook has problems streaming video when using an external monitor

I have a MacBook from 2007.  I have a converter so that the MacBook can be connected to an external monitor, and have connected it to my TV.  This works fine, but if I am streaming videos and trying to watch on the TV, the streaming becomes very choppy, almost like the wireless connection is too slow.  If I unplug the computer from the TV, however, the streaming returns to normal.  I previously connected to a TV with an S-video connection and the problem did not seem as prominent.  Now I am connecting to a HD tv using an HDMI connection.
Any suggestions for how to alleviate this?  I haven't updated or upgraded the memory or RAM, possibly that would help?  Would the amount of files I am storing be causing the problem?  I currently have 50 GB available.
    Thanks for any help!
    Conor

Make sure your Mac is set to a resolution and frequency that your monitor supports.
The other possibility is that your graphics card is fried, but that seems unlikely since your computer is new. Before too long, you should make sure your graphics card is OK using the Apple Hardware Test, but I'm not sure how reliable that is because it claims that my partially broken graphics card is OK.

  • MacBook (2006) HDTV Secondary Display Issue (no streaming video)

I've searched the discussions as thoroughly as I could before posting. I do not have the same issues as many others connecting their Macs to HDTVs for primary or secondary display.
I recently bought a Sony Bravia (KDL-32EX710) and displays the desktop beautifully at 1080p with just the Mini-DVI to VGA cable. However, the only thing it does not display, without a workaround, is streaming video from websites like YouTube, various Gawker media sites and similar sites. For example, going to YouTube loads the entire page with playlists, comments and the audio comes through but nothing but a black box where the video should be (controls are also hidden).
To view videos, I have to drag the Safari window to the MacBook's display to start the video then move it back over to the secondary display to view it. Or, I have to enable the video to be viewed in fullscreen (usually by chance) to be able to see the video.
Watching videos from the local/network drives are fine. Watching streaming videos from Netflix are fine (via Safari). Does this seem like a Flash issue as the problem videos seem to depend on Flash?

It seems updating Flash (for Safari, Firefox and Chrome) did the trick.

  • How can i stream video and audio from macbook air to my tv?

how can i stream video and audio from macbook air to my tv?

Wirelessly: you need an AirPlay - enabled device such as an AppleTV.
Wired: if your TV has an HDMI port, you need a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter such as this one:
Mini DisplayPort to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support
If your TV does not have an HDMI port you will need a converter that will convert HDMI input to whatever input your TV requires.

  • How can I stream video from my laptop to apple tv while doing a different task on my laptop?

How can I stream video from my laptop to apple tv while doing a different task on my laptop?  I want to be able to stream a video to my tv while browsing the internet or working on writing on my laptop. Thanks

You would have to use airplay within iTunes then, unless you want to use 3rd party software (ie Beamer)

  • Can I stream video from my mac to apple tv the same way my ipad or ipod does?

I just got my AppleTV hoping to stream video to it from my iMac.  I'm seeing this is possible with mirroring, but there was a ton of lag between the computer and tv, and the sound and video would skip horribly.  I plugged the ATV into our ethernet and that has helped tremendously, but there is still some visual lag and skipping going on with the video, noticable enough to drive me crazy when watching something like a movie.
However, I noticed that when I stream the same video to ATV with my iPad, it uses a method other than mirroring; the video is greyed out on the iPad with the ATV symbol on it and sends the video to the tv instead, and it plays seamlessly!  I wish I could say this is the solution to my own problem, but most videos I wish to watch are in a flash format, which does not work on iPad and I would therefore need to use my iMac instead.
So, leading back to the title now, is it possible to stream a video on the iMac without using mirroring, such as how ever it is the iPad and iPod are able to do it?
My iMac is the newest model currently out I believe.  27", i7 intel processor.  The AppleTV is also the newest generation I believe.  I just got both barely two weeks ago from the store here.
Any help is appreciated, let me know if you need any more information.
    Thanks!

I've set everything else up but cannot figure out how to display my laptop screen onto my TV.
As Keithjammer indicates, the TV2 does not "mirror" your screen as the platform's video interface does. Instead, the TV2 device is a wired/wireless remote multimedia player. As such, it only plays files in a compatible compression format. To do what you want it to do would require your platform to first compress the screen audio/video data to a compatible format and then stream it to the device in real time.
I've set everything else up but cannot figure out how to display my laptop screen onto my TV.
Yes, only files can be streamed. You can, of course, capture your screen audio and video data to a compatible file and then stream the file to the TV2 device.
...except from both London Drugs (where I purchased it) and Best Buy (where I double checked).
"Did you get that in writing?"

  • Is there a way I can stream video from my 2012 AirMac to the Apple TV using airplay and at the same time stream the audio to an air speaker?

Is there a way stream video from a 2012 MacBook Air to a TV using Apple TV and at the same time steam the audio to an air speaker. Also the same question but using an ipad

You can try one thing. Follow these steps:
    1. On your Mac, turn on AirPlay Mirroring and connect it to the Apple TV, so audio and video will stream from the Apple TV.
    2. Turn off the sound of the TV where you have connected the Apple TV.
    3. Then, make sure that you have turned on the AirPlay speakers. Then, open System Preferences > Sound > Output, and choose the external speakers, so sound will stream from these external speakers.
    This should work correctly

  • How can i stream video from Safari my MacBook Air to Apple TV.

I've been tryingt o stream videos from my Mac Book Air to Apple TV that is connected to my projector but dont seem to see any options in safari to stream to Apple TV.  Have anyone tried this?  Is this possible?  My IPad can do it but dont understand why Mac Book cant.  Please assist!

I Figured it out!  I put the Display chooser into the toolbar on the MacBook Air and there is a little selection that allows Mirroring.  I switched it on, got video, sound, and a happy man on my hands.  AND I found the correct answer myself, heh, heh, heh.
