Global audio adjustments

Having some problems making global audio adjustments. For example: I have a project with four audio tracks, and I would like to do the following:
-pan all tracks to center
-track A1 level to -inf
-track A2 level to 6dB
So I select all tracks, and Modify>Audio>Pan Center
Since A1 and A2 come in as a stereo pair, I select A1 and A2 and Modify>Stereo Pair to allow me to adjust their levels separately.
I then select all segments on A1 and Modify>Levels and slide all the way down to -inf
Last I select all segments on A2 and Modify>Levels and set level at 6
It seems that final level adjustment should only apply to A2, but I find that it has also applied to a few segments on A1. I'd rather not have to adjust the levels on each segment one at a time.
Any thoughts?

I've tried using Relative and Absolute. No difference. I find that certain pairs of audio segments continue to act as if they are a stereo pair.
I can then select the pair, turn Stereo Pair on and then off again, Pan and adjust levels for each segment. This process defeats the whole purpose of saving time by adjusting each track globally.
Anyone else have ideas?

    please help!
i really need to be able to adjust the volume of the track and of the clips at different points in my video.
    Thanks!

I am having the same problem too!! I just spend a few days editing a video and the last half of the audio is in need for some serious adjustment

  • How do I save audio adjustments I make to my project?

I have just opened up a video project I created last week, to find it has not saved the audio adjustments that I made to it (background noise reduction etc.)  Could anyone advise me how I save these adjustments?

#5 Imported music from CD or iTunes
    Shane's Stock Answer #5:
To get music into FCP, it needs to be an AIFF file at 48khz, 16 bit stereo. So if you want a song from a CD, you go into the iTunes Preferences and set this up under the IMPORTING tab:
File > preferences > importing > import using - AIFF encoder > Setting - Custom
    Sample Rate - 48.000 kHz
    Sample size - 16 bit
    Channels - Stereo
If you have an mp3 that you want to use, then you can convert it thru iTunes as well.
If the piece of music you want to use is something you purchased thru iTunes, I'm afraid I can't help you there. There are copywrite issues that prevent files from being converted into the format that FCP can recognize.

  • Problems with Audio Adjustments taking effect

    Hi,
I'm a pretty seasoned iMovie HD user trying my first experience with iMovie '08. I imported a project I had started in iMovie HD and am experiencing what I can only describe as potentially a bug with the Audio Adjustments function. My video clips are in dv format. I have added a audio clip to serve as background and would like to lower/silence the audio from the video track on certain clips but I find that it doesn't work. I select the clip, click on the audio speaker icon to open the Audio Adjustment window, I lower the slider to my desired level and hit "done." I play the track and the audio has not been lowered/silenced. After a number of tries doing the same exact thing a few times it worked. I read another user complaining of similar problem which was fixed by a restart, that does not appear to be the case for me. Then I am also experiencing the same problem in reverse. I get the volumed lowered and then try to increase it, and it doesn't change. In all instances I can see that the audio speaker icon indeed has changed the amount of bars showing the volume level, its that you don't actually hear the change when you play it.
I appreciate any help with this.
    Thanks.

My video clips are in dv format. I have added a audio clip to serve as background and would like to lower/silence the audio from the video track on certain clips but I find that it doesn't work.
This appears to be a "hit or miss" complaint among users. I personally have not had such problems but there are simply too many people having problems for it to be a case of "imagination" on their part. My recommendation is to do audio mixing in GarageBand where the files are converted to AIFF audio tracks which can be aurally and visually modified using controls that allow you to create custom contours for fading in/out, vary the volume at any point within each track, adjust/attenuate the equalization bands, mix each track as a unit relative to other tracks, and then adjust your final mastered mix volume. Am not a professional in the A/V field but this work flow does appear to be the most logical for adding "pro-sumer" touches to an otherwise "consumer" product and fail to see why more people are not taking full advantage of such advanced features.

  • IMovie 10.0 Audio adjustments

It looks like you can't make audio adjustments to sevenths if clips in a project anymore.
Before you could select the audio to a section if a clip and adjust the volume, but I just can't do it any more?
Does anyone know if it's possible?
    Cheers

    **** autocorrect!
That should say 'segments of clip'!

  • Lose iMovie audio adjustments when burning to iDVD

Using iMovie 3.1 and trying to make an off camera voice audible by raising the volume control, but when I listen to the finished DVD in player, the off camera voice is so low it's inaudible. It seems that I'm getting a result opposite from the one i want. The off camera voice is recorded on one track only, while the on camera subject's voice is on both tracks.
Again, the adjustments sound fine in iMovie - it's only when I burn it to DVD that the off camera voice virtually disappears.

    Hi k
There are several things that can lead to this.
I don't use the share/export to iDVD from within iMovie but
    - close iMovie
    - locate the project folder and in this the QT.mov file (with Your project "name".mov)
    - this I drop into a new iDVD theme window (just inside the edge of it)
    - if You by any change drop Your QT.mov file on the desktop and rename
it => result - silent movie.
You may cahnge the name "my phantastic movie" when it is a title in the
iDVD theme window without any problems.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Audio adjustments and P2 Workflow

I just want to make sure I'm going about things the right way before I submit a feature request for any of this.
I'm starting a project that was sporadicly shot on P2 cards (DVCPRO HD 720 24p) over a couple months,  I'm now going through to organize all my footage, as a FCP 7 transplant normally what I would do is use Log and Transfer, go through all the clips, rename the files, set in and out points, and before transcoding I would turn off audio tracks 3 and 4 in the clips as I only need 1 and 2.
Now with prelude what I find myself doing is using the ingest function to figure out which clips I want to keep and transfering those to a new destination, then going into finder and unlocking all my newly transfered P2 Media files, then going through the clips again to rename, set subclips, add comments, and then send it over to premiere pro where once it's there I can highlight all the media and modify the audio to get rid of tracks 3 and 4.
I've read most of the forum posts so I realize I'm not the first to mention some of these things.
It would be great if not only I could rename the clips in the ingest area, so I have a better understanding of what I'm looking at when logging, but also if I could choose not to transfer over certain audio tracks.  I know I can mute them in the logging window but it's still there when I transfer over to Premiere so I still have to go through the step of selecting all my media and then getting rid of tracks 3 and 4.
The reason I transfer the footage to a new destination instead of just working off the original cards is becuase on some of the cards there is a lot of media that I don't need and I would prefer to just work from a smaller transfered file folder in the edit once I'm done logging all my footage, now the problem with that is for P2 Media I have to unlock all the files before I can save any comments or subclips, which doesn't take much time to do a batch version of (thanks to your link in the other thread about this) but it is an extra step I wanted to avoid.  So to get around this I figured I would transcode the footage to something else before logging, but then I run into the audio issue of all 4 channels being mixed down into 2.  I tried tweaking a couple different presets but was never able to get it where the transcode didn't mess with the audio and so I couldn't get rid of channels 3 and 4, or I think at one point all i got was a mono version of tracks 1 and 2 mixed which doesn't work for me either.
I thankfully don't have to do this but when I was thinking about this audio issue I realized that if I had a 20 min long clip but only needed 3 parts that are 1 min each, I wouldn't be able to do partial ingets since that requires a transcode so i would just be stuck with the entire 20 min clip and having to create 3 subclips from that.
I thought about just skipping prelude all together at one point and seeing how Premiere would work with P2 media but I quickly reliazed that the ability to transfer certain clips to a seperate folder and the ease at which I can add comments and create subclips that get transfered over for the final edit make Prelude worth figuring out for my workflow.
sorry for the long ramble, I'm just seeing if anyone has advice or opinions on if I'm just so stuck in my FCP 7 ways that I'm missing an obvious way to streamline my workflow or doing something wrong or what.

Thank you, Jeremy, for your post. Having an option in an AME preset to send through selected audio tracks (and ignore other selected audio tracks) would certainly be useful, please do submit a feature request at http://adobe.com/go/wish

  • Where is my "Audio Adjustments Window"  ???

I am trying to adjust audio parameters using iMovies'08 but the adjustment window just do not appear !! (but it used to work great two days ago).
The same problem with color adjustment window... they do not appear on the screen after I enable adjustment icon and then select the clip to edit.
Do you have any idea how to bring them back ?? please help.

    MaFi66,
    Give this a try:
Then move this file to your desktop
    User>Library>Preferences>com.apple.imovie7.plist
Now restart iMovie and see if you can get the Audio and Video adjustment windows to show.

  • IMovie09 Audio Adjustments.  Volume reduction not working.

I have adjusted the volume in all clips in the project to 0%.  I put a music track over all video clips.  When I playback in the viewer all Audio is fine.  When I save as .mov file, the background audio from the clips is there.  I have made hundreds of videos and this has never happened before.  Is it some sort of bug?

Are you using any speed changes? (fast or slow motion?)
If so, iMovie 09 has a bug that will produce unpredictable audio effects.
The solution is to keep your speed changes to the pre-set tick marks, e.g. 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%, 400%, 800%, etc. If you use a custome percent like 58% or 139%, you will get the unpredictable audio.

  • Audio Adjustments

I am fairly novice with iMovie, I used Pinnacle in my pre-Mac days I have a video clip with an audio track that I would love to start playing before the video shows up. Its of kids singing and clapping, so I'd like the singing and clapping to start before the video starts...is this possible?

the video that greenandgold shows how to do this, use the precision editor. Basically, open the precision editor, and then click on the waveform button to bring up the audio. You can then click and drag on the blue edit line when the audio is, and drag it to the left so that the audio starts earlier in time than the video. It's called a "J" cut.
    Hope this helps!

  • Arrow keys don't work for fine audio adjustments

I've looked high and low for an answer to this. I've noticed that others have posted with this problem. I followed the directions in those posts and still can't do it. It seems like such a simple thing. I want to fine tune the placement of an audio clip by nudging it. Your supposed to be able to do so by clicking on the clip and then use the left/right arrow keys to make the adjustment. But, the only thing that moves is the playhead. I've tried everything.
BTW, I'm using a Powerbook 1.33 G4. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    jlweber,
I think you can achieve the result you want by using the "Snap to items in Timeline".
You'll find the check box here: iMovie>Preferences>General.
The arrows keys will still move the playhead, but you can then drag the audio and it will snap to the playhead location.

  • Droid 2 Global Audio/Mic issue. No one can understand me on the phone. Digital sounding and muffled.

The past couple of days this has gotten worse to the point where I can no longer take any calls because people can barely make out half of what I am saying. I have updated the roaming plenty of times *228 just as a precaution with no results. Is there any fix for this issue or do I need to take it back to Verizon? Thanks.

You probably have to take it in, but can I tell you a true story?  When my son's Droid 2 was just 3 weeks old, he began having trouble hearing anybody.  All calls were barely audible.  Not the same as your problem, but maybe similar?  I'm looking at his phone, messing with volume and settings... can't see anything that it could be.  So we take it in to Verizon and I'm upset already thinking they'll give him a refurbished phone even though his is only 3 weeks old, disappointed that this brand new phone is broken already, etc.  The guy had one of those cans of air for like cleaning keyboards and he sticks it in the hole on top where you would put earphones... blasts it with air and a big piece of lint came flying out!  You couldn't see it, but it got in there.  He keeps his phone in his pocket.  Needless to say I was relieved there was nothing really wrong with the phone and even though I had to drive to the store for a piece of lint it was still kind of funny.

  • Which Premier Global (Premier NA) Audio product works with Adobe Connect  Pro 7.5

I am trying to set up audio conferencing on my Adobe Connect Pro 7.5 so I am able to record a discussion online.  So both myself and the participants on the call would be recorded. For my audio profiles, Premier Global (Premier NA) is set up as the participating provider.  Which Premier Global audio account is used with Adobe Connect Pro 7.5 so an Adobe Connect session using teleconferencing can be recorded?

Any PGi phone bridge should work. Just be sure you start the audio conference in the meeting, or Connect will have no knowledge of the call.
