"Global" BPS Variable in WEB Planning Folder/Layout ?

We want to create a dynamic planning in the WEB where an administrator could change for all planners every month the variable "Planning Period". The Variable has to be restricted to a single value (WEB Restricion) to get no error when opening the WEB Layout. This could be achieved if every user "set variable" per default a value (best the actual) but this could not be done by the administrator! Even it is called a global variable it has to be set by each user (in the SAPGUI)! I could nor believe that we are the only who needs this functionality. Does anyody have an idea? Please advise.
Thanks Didi

Hi Frank, you are right but it is very exhausting to discuss with the customer about data consistency and the planning process. The tool has to follow the wishes...
But from technical view I believe that ist should be possible to set on global Level (admin) an initial variable value to start a planning session. Actual I could not see (without EXIT) a solution in the WEB to set a Variable (Version or Month etc.) in this way. It should be shure that the planner has a "global default" but could change this if it is necessary. Do you have any idea?
Thanks Dieter

  • Medium description of Variable in the planning folder

    Hi Experts,
In one of our planning folders the variable for infoobject(Cstcenter) is not put pulling the medium description in the varible section(Top part of planning folder) but same variable is pulling the medium descprion in the header of the layout (Bottom part of the llayout) with in the same folder. This problem is also for only few Costcenters, some costcenters it is pulling the data in both variable section and in the layout section
Any thoughts on this . Please share me your ideas on this. I know this is very simple but little confusing Since the same variable is dipalying the value in place but not in other place. Anybody had this problem.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply Bindu. In both the places test replacement and char test defined as "Medium". It is dipaying the medium text in both the places for only few CC's, but few CC's it is not diplaying the descrption in the varaible section..
Any other areas i need to check.

  • How to select several values from a user exit variable in a planning folder

    Hello,
I have created a user exit variable for limiting the values only to which the user need to access.
For a simulation part, it is then necessary for him to select several values from these values (not only one, and not all)
But It seems in this case the user has only two possibilities :
    - keep all the values without any restriction
    - restrain the selection to only one value.
It seems possible for the user to access to a multiple choice window, but this possibility doesn't seems to work : in all tests we did, only the first value was taken into account by BPS.
If this method is not good do you know an other manner to permit the user to choice several values amongst a set of pre-selected  (because the original set is too important) values ?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Mayank,
Thanks for your response, but I don't think it corresponds to my problem.
I my case, I use a user exit variable to filter some data. It seems BPS offers the possibility to the user to select several values amongts the pre-selected values presented by the user exit variable, but it doesn't work. We can use a popup in which we enters the required values, but in final, only the first value is taken into account.
I don't know if it is due to a BPS bug or if it is not a good solution in regard to BPS philosophy. In this case, the concerned caracteristic isn't in the header but in lead columns.
I must present a solution to my client next monday, so I have not enough time to open an OSS message.
An alternate solution should be interesting too.
My need is to present to a user a selection of values amongst all values from an infoobject (the user exit variable seemed to be a good solution) and the user must have the possibility to select some values amongst these as filter.

  • Execute BPS planning function on opening of web planning layout

    Hi all,
Does anyone know how to execute a planning function automatically at the moment of opening a web planning layout in a BPS web planning folder(tx code BPS_WB/BPS_WIF0)?
This was possible in the old BPS planning folder, but does not seem possible in the web planning folders?
    Thanks,
    Rael

    Hello Rael,
    Basically you have 2 options:
    - Use the same trick as in the how to paper "How to call a BPS Web Interface with predefined variable values" (see service market place, alias BW, then BI Planning). In the BSP page you do not set a variable value but use the BPS API to execute a planning function (just call the function module API_SEMBPS_FUNCTION_EXECUTE). When using the url parameters in a similar way as in the how to paper you can call different function modules for different web applications.
    - You can use the application class in the web interface builder and call the function in the "on load" method. There is a how to paper describing how such a application class can be used (Validate key figure values in manual planning - web). Note that there another event is used and thus a check AFTER input is done.
Well - the second option might be a little more elegant but I think the first one is definitely less complicated and less work...

  • Web Interface builder - Not displaying planning folder after transporting

I created an web-enabled planning folder and transported it to the quality system.
In the development system works perfectly (variables, layouts, links, user-exits, etc).
After transporting it to the quality system when I run this web planning folder the page doesn't load and displays with an empty white web page.
I tried to re-generate it in the quality system, but I'm having the same problem. I haven't recieved any error message.

  • Refresh variable in planning folder

    Hello all,
I've created two variables: the first (value selection variable) is selected by user and the second (user exit variable) is dependent by the first one. When the selection is done the planning layout depending theese variables must refresh automatically.
In the bps0 transaction refresh works correctly, but in the planning folder it is necessary to close and re-open the layout. Is there a way to refresh automatically variables in the planning folder too as in BPS0?
    Regards
    Riccardo

    Hi ..
What filip said its correct, only its the oposite thing.
l_buffer_call has to be set to ' ', so it refreshes all the variables when one is changed.
I think the solution to your problemas must be to use the variable Z_GET_VARIABLE_DETAIL as explained in said "How to.. variable of type exit" paper.
    Cheers.

  • BPS Variable Exit issue - input variable is not hardcoded

    Hi SDNer
I have a problem in derivation of 3 variables from one variable. The scenario is like this..
Curr Year - Hard coded in one Pl Area and all other Area get the same value by using a FM
Planning for year : User Input variable in Layout
    We are planning for Projection ( Ver - p) Budget ( Ver - B) and 3 Forecast (Ver - F)
Now based on the planning for year and current year variable, system should calculate these three versions.Curr Ver  Next Ver Prev Ver which are in layout at present and entered by user manually
    Example:
For  Curr Year 2008 and Plan Year 2008
    Curr Ver - P Next Ver - B and Prev Ver - A
For  Curr Year 2008 and Plan Year 2009
    Curr Ver - B Next Ver - F and Prev Ver - P

  • BPS planning folder; Scroll to top after execution of planning function

    Hi All,
After execution of a planning function, or after saving data in a planning folder, the layout jumps back to the top and displays the first row, even if the user was positioned on another row.
I know BPS does this because it recalculates the data and tries to display it.
However, it is not very user friendly.
Did anyone ever solve this ?
How do you remain positionned on the line you are working on after saving or execution a BPS planning function?
Thanks in advance for your answer,

There are some APIs which BPS uses internally to save data. You can make a Planning Function of Type EXIT using function moule of your own calling API_SEMBPS_POST (to save data). <br><br>

  • Exit Variables in web layout. Authority-check

    Hi gurus!
i have a problem... i created a user-exit variable in my planning area that is filled by two variables
    ( low/high ).
In this user exit i check the values by authority-ckeck instruction. When i execute this on a planning folder it works rigth, the problem appears in web... the variable takes all the possible values!!! i'm turning mad!!! >:-I.

  • Select more value of variable in planning folder

    hi gurus,
    I'm using planning folder.
In planning folder there is a variable that contain many value, for example 0COSTCENTER that contain 10 singles values. (from 1 to 10)
User wants to select some values contained in variable.
For example 2 and 5, even if it is authorized on all the cost center contained in variable.
In this moment it selects one to the time.
how I can make to resolve this problem?
    Thanks
    Davide

    Davide,
sorry to say that, that'z the way BPS works.
it's one of the BPSlimitation & many people are asking for an answer from SAP.
as a workaround, you can do following things.
    1. user can select variable range, for example 2 to 5.
    2. create a variable with properties "user specific values" & fill in required cost centers for each user & don't check the flag "input allowed by user".
in the 2nd option, you can assingn multiple single values to USER1.
if u assign, cost center 2 & 5 to USER1, USER1 gets ability to plan on both 2 & 5 without even selectiing cost centers.
    3. you can even look into authorization variables & user-exit variables if they meet your requirements.
    hope it helps.

  • BPS User-Specific Variables by Web

    Hi,
I'm triyng to setup a CC planning interface for my company.
I configured the levels and layouts and they work fine.
I run the interface with the planning folders and everything works fine but when I setup the Web Interface tha layout stops working. The message is something like "Variable XXXX can't be specified".
I'm using user specific variables in the planning level so every user can only see and modificate certain CCs.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you very much.

    Alejandro,
Sorry, I had been at a new client this week doing a review and it is long hours so have not checked back.
The other discussions groups I participate on is e-mail based so only checking here when I have a block of time.
What type of cost center variable are you using?  on 0costcenter or on the hierarhcy?  Are you using variable with user specific value or with of type authorization or something else?
did you configure the web interface using web enabled layout or using Web interface buillder?

  • Us Planning Function to Update BPS Variable

I have read through several 'How To' papers on variables, but did not come across this.  Is it possible to develop a planning function (FOX or User Exit) to prgramatically read and then update a BPS variable?

    <FONT FACE = "Tahoma", Font Color = "Blue">
    Hi<br>
--> You can write an ABAP Exit Variable and populate TO variable as From Variable + 1. You can then use both these variables in a Planning Level and use Normal BPS Copy to copy data from FROM version to TO version. You can include this Function in a Global Planning Sequence and later on include this Sequence in a process chainby creating variant on Standard Program UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE.<br><br>
Let us assume that because of some reasons you don't want to write ABAP Exit. Then you can write a FOX Code to do copy for you. Choose Version as Field to be changed. You can use TMVL operator in FOX to increment your FROM variable and populate your TO variable. You would have to include all of your characteristics in your planning level to be safe. But please note that this is not a recommended way to do copy. You should use standard BPS Copy Function as far as possible.

    Hi Adette,
With regard to the document that Rael is referring, I think the section that refers to the requirement below may be helpful to you.
<i>Global variables: From a logical point of view you have the same variables in several planning areas e.g. the actual year. Now you would like to define one ‘leading’ area containing the variable that should automatically set/adjust the corresponding variables in the other planning areas.</i>
    Check the link below.
