Global changes to movie properties

Each year I have to update the copyright year in the movie
properties dialog box for each movie. Is there a way to update
movie properties for all movies at once?

No there is not a way to do that within the Captivate
environment. Sorry. I suggest you check with your lawyers, because
I don't believe that what you are doing is even necessary (but I'm

As I understand it, if you are located in the United States a
copyright (if not renewed) is good for a minimum of 28 years.
Again, check with your own legal people, especially if there is
cause to be concerned with international copyright law, which could
probably make a circus performer dizzy from the height.
Maybe there is a lawyer among us who can tell you I'm wrong
and/or offer better advice??

Can't change Movie Properties

I just bought and downloaded 5 Pixar short subject movies.
I have a 3 year old grandson that I've set up a Mac for.
I've put his favorite movies and trailers on the desktop with large icons and slow double click. I set each movie to open in full screen and close when finished because he can't click on the red close button.
The Pixar movies downloaded into iTunes, so it would be difficult for him to find them to play.
I opened the mp4 in Quicktime and saved as self-contained movie, thinking this would do it. I put the movie on the desktop and opened it to get movie properties. I could not change them, so I can't set to go full screen or to close the movie when done. ???
Is there no way to do this? "Protected" is one thing... but not being able to change the properties seems ridiculous.

Better to use "reference" instead of "self contained" to save on HD space.
Then unplug the mouse and teach the 3 year old the keyboard.
The "Tab" key will highlight a file and a new tap on it will move the focus to a new item.
Command key and the letter o key will launch QuickTime Player.
Command key and the letter f will send the file to Full Screen (requires Pro).
The Spacebar will start and stop playback. Up/down arrow keys will adjust volume.
Command key and the letter w key will close the window. Escape key will send it out of full screen but leave the window open.
Command key and the Tab key will allow switching between the Finder and QuickTime (focus changes each time the Tab key is clicked) and releasing the Command key will make that app the "front".

How to globally change comment/pop-up color?

I'm hoping there is some way to globally change the comment/pop-up color for an already-commented PDF.
I work in design/production, and clients provide all content revisions to me via PDF.
The problem is, 10 times out of 10, the default commenting color they use is yellow. The yellow color is almost impossible to see when I enable "show lines connecting comment markups to their pop-ups on mouse rollover" (Preferences > Commenting).
I really need the visual of the connecting line, because with 50+ pop-ups overlaying each other on a page (not uncommon), it's almost impossible to tell which pop-up relates to which markup unless there's a line.
I want to globally change the yellow color to just about anything else -- red, green, blue, whatever. Just something that is dark enough so I can actually see what a pop-up connects to when I roll over it.
I can figure out how to individually change a comment color (right click on comment > Properties > adjust color > OK) which also changes the associated pop-up and connecting line. However, it's not feasible to do this individually when working with a document with 200+ comments.
Is there some way to globally change the comment color after the fact?
Changing the color as described above and then selecting "Make current properties default" doesn't change any of the existing pop-ups. It just changes the default color going forward for new comments.

I kept playing around and figured out a way to make it work. A bit harder than it should be perhaps, but it does the trick. Sharing here in case anyone else needs to do this.
Open the "Comments" sidebar (click "Comments" at top right of PDF in Acrobat X -- Version 10.1.8). From the sidebar, expand "Comments List" by clicking the triangle. Manually select all of the comments on the list. With comments selected, right click (Command + click on Mac) on one of the comments then choose "Properties." From there, you can select a new color for the selected pop-ups.

Quicktime Player X Show Movie Properties is gone?

I still have QT player 7 on my machine, but why is "Show Movie Properties" gone from QT X Player? I need that in order to turn on and off text layers to get chapters to work in BitVice. So I guess the fix is just use QT Player 7 in the meantime? Thanks for any insight!

Maybe there should have been an option for Quicktime Pro users to ignore the Quicktime X update.
I don't see the point of Quicktime X (other than the cosmetic changes) Why do we need two copies of Quicktime when everything we need from Pro is absent from X.
I hope that X gets a Pro option in the near future before Apple brings out another OS update that makes Quicktime 7 Pro obsolete.

Global change tables

There are lots of tables in my manuals, all of which are set
to be transparent. I realized that they look better when the table
borders are solid black, so i would like to change all of them and
there are loads! is there a way to do a global change rather than
individually changing each table's properties?

A recent quick test indicates that with RH7 you can specify
the borders from the CSS stylesheet. That did not override existing
inline colours but that should not be an issue for you.
I cannot guarantee it will work for your tables and it might
be necessary to go to each table and apply a table class. There's
probably a way of doing that using a find and replace tool.
It depends on your knowledge of CSS and confidence in
undertaking multi file find and replace operations.
Whatever you do, make a backup first. Unless of course you
want to be looking for a new job!

Changing the field properties (editabel/greyed out) dynamically?

I am developing an Adobe interactive form. My requirement is dynamically changing the filed properties based on the other field values/selections/inputs.
1) For example in the form, if user puts value_A in field_1, then, the field_2 should be greyed out.
2) If user puts value_B in field_3, then, system automatically populate the value_C in field_4 in order to let the user make easy- user friendly
3) If user puts value_D in field_5, then, only allowed value in field_6 is value_E, if by mistake user puts value_F in field_6, then, system should throw error message
Pls. let me know how to achive this DYNAMIC functionality in the FORM or do we need to handle from WEbDynPro ABAP side?

Everything you have mentioned is possible in the form itself. Just write the valid script at valid event of valid field.

LiveCycle forms use a very different approach to create a PDF form than Acrobat and that approach makes many features for processing PDFs non-functional.
You might want to ask this question in one of the LiveCycle product forums.

How do I change the default properties for Replace(Ins)?

All tool icons EXCEPT Replace(Ins) show "Tool Default Properties" as an option when right-clicked. When I right-click a particular replacement in the document and select "Properties," there is no option to set current as default.
So, how do I change the default properties for this annotation tool? I need to change the Author and the color.

Global change to the size of a text frame in InDesign 5.5?

Is there a way to make a global change to the size of a text frame in InDesign 5.5? I just laid out a book and the size needs to go up half an inch.

If you have worked properly and have done following:
Set up Masters with margins and columns,
Aligned all text frames with the margins,
Turned on Layout Adjustment,
You will only change the margins on the Master and it will change every page.
If not …
you have to do it manually.

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

How to change default text properties and text box properties

I'm adding text to a PDF document by using the text box tool. The default is to put a border around the box and also the font is red and larger than I'd like. I think I found how to change the default box properties (so it has no boarder).
For the text/font, I can pull up a menu to change the font properties, but so far I'm having to do this for each box I create. One workaround is to cut and paste new text boxes with the formatting I want, but I still want to know how can I set the defaults to the font, size and color of text I want?

This is one of Acrobat's less intuitive areas!
For defaults, right-click on the text box that is as you want it: then select menu item 'Make current properties default'
Use Ctrl-E to bring up the Properties toolbar: its content will change depending on whether you have the box or the text selected, and selecting the box or text can be a bit clunky.

I have made a bookmark toolbar with all my fav sites, a lot of sites have not made a icon logo, so I make one,,, By using the change icon in properties (right click on the icon) But this feature is not in the newest firefox update.

Can I globally change the itunes folder names

Due to some complicated circumstances regarding setting up a new laptop and copying my iTines media files across, I have created the following situation:
1. All files are under a folder called iTunes/iTunes Media in their appropriate folders e.g. iTunes/iTunes Media/Beatles
2. All of these files have been duplicated in a sub folder called iTunes/iTunes Media\Music e.g. iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Beatles
At some point, and due to some jiggery pokery on my part that I cannot remember, I have iTunes pointing to a mixture of these i.e. some albums are located in the ITunes Media folder and some in the Music sub folder
I need to remove the duplicate folder to free up space on my laptop so would like to simply globally change any reference in locvations of iTunes/iTunes Media\Music to iTunes/iTunes Media\Music
This would solve my issue rather than trawl through thousands of missing location files and individually changing these. is this possible at the database level?

Rather than delete anything by hand I suggest you start by fixing the broken links with my script FindTracks.
You could then import the iTunes Media folder to reattach any orphaned files to the library.
You can then dedupe with my DeDuper script. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping (actually that should be the first thing you do).
Finally turn Keep organize... off, then turn it back on again. Also make sure under File > Library > Organize Library that Reorganize files in the folder iTunes Media is greyed out. If not, tick the box and press OK.
The aim is to end up with the library set out as described in make a split library portable.
