Global data declaring/using in Function modules

Hi,
I have declared an internal table(say ITAB1) in the top include.Appending the values through FM1(function module).
I am using the same through FM2 (Tables ITAB1).
( Function group is same for both FM1 and FM2 )
but i am not getting the values in the ITAB1.
Can anyone help me....

Bhavani,
I don't think it works that way. If you are accessing that variable with in that function module you will be able to access that table.
As you are calling another function module else where, the execution memory is different and the previous variables will not exist any more. However, if you call function2 with function1 it should work.
The other way could using the EXPORT and IMPORT commands. Then you should be able to access the data.

Generic data extractor using a function module

Hi All,
I want to create a generic data extractor using a function module within the BW system. i.e. the extractor will run in BW and and store the data in a cube( in BW). No R/3 is invloved. I proceeded as follows:
1. Created a structure through se11.
2. Created a function module. But while defining "E_T_DATA" in the "Tables" section of the function module, I am getting the error "TABLES parameters are obsolete". I defined as follows:
E_T_DATA TYPE ZBW_EXTRACT
ZBW_EXTRACT is the name of the structure.
What should i do in this case ?

Hello Satya,
The message "TABLES parameters are obsolete" is just a warning and not an error. The structure of the interface is strict (defined by SAP). You should opt to proceed even if you receive the warning.

Use of Function Module IDOC_INPUT_CREDITOR

Hi,
This function module is used to post Vendor realted information through IDOCs. You can copy the same and can create your own but you need to attach this to your own IDOC message type or you can call through your own customized transaction.

I have a .net windows application that uses BAPI_PO_GETDETAIL function module to get particular details of a PO in SAP. But i am not able to get the "Doc Date" for a particular PO. I am able to get all the details of items from the table "PO_ITEMS ". I used only 1 input parameter "PURCHASEORDER".
Please help me to get this thing done

Updation of material data using a function module

i want to update fields in the mvke table,but the field is a Customer field in the table, not sap table field.i want to update the field using a program , not going to mm02. which function can i use for the updation.There is a function module MATERIAL_MAINTAIN_DARK for updation,will this funtion module update the customer fields also. Can anyone tell me about this function module and how to use this function module or MATERIAL_MAINTAIN_DARK.

Hi..
If you are using this Function module, you can get the generated function module name of smartform dynamically. It is good progrmaming practice to get the fucntion module name dynamically because there might be some problems if you are hard coding in program.
This will return the name of the function module and then from the exporting parameters you can use the fucntion module name to pass parameters to Smartforms.

U00BFCan I use a function module as a driver program for sapscript?

I have to use a function module as driver program for sapscript and there is no any value in the form (the data are not transferred)...
but if I call the sapcript from a report with the same code as in my function module all the data are transferred OK.
please, can you tell me if there is any problem in use of a function module in this case? is it impossible at all or is there any tip to apply?

Hi,
first of all it is possible to use a function module to process a SapScript form.
The mistake on your side is probably the definition of the variables that you want to pass to the form. Please make sure they are defined as global (via SE37 --> Goto --> Global Data) then it should be working.
In addition you could take a look at e.g. function module "PRINT_DUNNING_NOTICE". This is SAP standard and they are using it to print a SapScript form.

How to avoid use of function module in case of background jobs?

Hi ,
I am working a file tranfer interface .Functionality is to extract file either apllication or presentation server , and process the file through bapi , send the result in their respective server. This program should run through batch jobs in background mode.
I am using following function module :
SUBST_GET_FILE_LIS : Get the file list from application server
TMP_GUI_DIRECTORY_LIST_FILES : Get the file list from presentation server
GUI_UPLOad : to extract file data from presentation server
GUI_downLOAD : to download data to presentation server
in case of background job these function modules will not work.... so how to resolve this issue...
what are the methods we can apply?

Hi,
This FM is used to get list of files from Application server (will work in Background). This cannot be used to list files from presentation server. There is no way , by which you can process presentation server files in background mode.
