Global filename output settings?

re: http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Illustrator/13.0/help.html?content=WSF0A59CAA-4274-48d4-B 168-00A8ADD95DA1.html
Is there any way to set this so that it is global? I have to save off hundreds of images with long filenames, and having to go in each and every time I save for web to change these settings seems absurd. Any help appreciated.

I have tried re-saving the default settings file (in both application data and program files) and the output settings file - so does saving a file marked as "Default Settings" not actually change the default settings? That also seems absurd.

  • Save For Web - Default Output Settings

    Hi all!
When I use "Save For Web" in Illustrator CS5, I don't like having hypens in my file names (it messes with alphabetical sorting when some of my similarly-named files have hypens, the rest have spaces). So everytime I export an image for the first time using save for web, I have to go into "output settings > saving files" and uncheck "Unix Filename Compatibility". Having to do this every time is a little annoying.
I tried unchecking that box, and then saving the output settings as a settings profile, overwritting "default settings.iros", hoping that Illustrator would load that file everytime and leave the Unix box unchecked. But alas, that did not work, and when I go to "Save For Web" now on a new image, instead of using the default settings profile, it just uses "Custom" instead, with the Unix box checked.
So it seems Illustrator would rather use it's own default settings, instead of mine. Is there any way I can set it to stop checking that box every time I create a new image and export it for the first time?
    Thanks!
    Joey

You are correct it is writtn that way in the Save for the Web Preferences and I assume if you knew what to put in its palce and resaved the preferences it ould 'no loo'nger be a problem for you the thing is what would you write in its place?

  • Sound Control Panel doesn't retain output settings.

Since updating to 10.6.2, I've discovered that, after starting up or a reboot, the output settings revert to "Internal Speakers/Built-in Output." This is a pain, since I rely on a external speaker system (and so use the "Line Out/Built-in Line Output" setting).
I have tried resetting PRAM and re-installing 10.6.2 using the Combo updater, all to no avail.
Has anyone experienced this and/or solved it?
    Many thanks in advance.

delete all files in /Library/preferences/audio (that's the Library at the top level of the hard drive) and restart. sound settings should retain on restarts after that.

  • Is there a fix for Mountain Lion audio output settings after the laptop goes to sleep and wakes back up?

Mac Book Pro running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 after the notebook sleeps audio and video does work (for example on YouTube).  I have been able to temporarily work around this by toggling the settings on Built-in Output in Audio Midi Setup, Audio window between 2ch-20bit Integer and 2ch-24bit Integer.  But this is a temporary fix until the laptop sleeps again.
When it's not working, all system sounds (emails "dings", delete file "swish", etc.) are silenced, and video playbacks on YouTube and elsewhere freeze and have no audio until the Audio Output settings are toggled then they all immediately start working.
Has anyone encountered the same?  Have a long term fix for this annoyance?
I cannot upgrade the OS to 10.9 Mavericks yet because of a corporate policy - there is some conflict with 10.9 and our corporate VPN connection.

  • Help please with output settings in Save For Web Photoshop CS4

I am new to CS4 Photoshop so have been watching tutorials on Lynda.com. According to that tutorial I should have the ability to save a photo as an image in the Output Settings dialog box. The only options my panel gives me are:
    HTML
    Slices
    Background
    Saving Files
I don't have the option for Images Only or for HTML & Images. Are these two hidden somewhere?
I have been experimenting with Save For Web, but when I click on Save I get a panel that lists all the images saved in a folder named "Photos" but I cannot find in that folder any of the images that I optimized and saved for the web. Where are they to be found? Images that show up in Bridge are not my optimized images either.I would be grateful for some assistance with this.

Those settings, HTML, Slices, etc, are the Output Settings you don't normally need to change aonything in there.
Leave it at default and you will just save a version of the image stripped of unnecessary data and reduced to the degree you specified next to the file format choice.
When you press Save in the SfW interface it calls up a Windows OS Save dialog box showing the last used location.
The destination can be changed in the normal way. The Images you already saved will be in the the location that was in that dialog when you saved them.
There is a lot more information in the help pages on this topic!  (Hint.)

  • Why do my sound output settings keep resetting after restart?

Just bought a MBPro with OS 10.6.4.
After restarting my sound output settings keep resetting to Soundflower (2ch) from Internal speakers.
It doesn't take too much to change it, but it is pretty annoying and I'm assuming there's some obscure setting that can fix this.
    Anyone able to help?

This fixed it on my Mac Pro. It might work on a MacBook Pro.
    Delete these three files:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.soundpref.plist
    /Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
    /Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Reselect whatever sound device you want as your default in the Sound Preference Pane.
    Restart the computer.

  • What is the best HD output settings for YouTube uploading?

Trying out iMovie '09 for the first time.
I shot a 2.5 minute video (AVCHD) and with
the video output settings I selected it is taking
    about 20 minutes to encode.
That is way too much time...or is it?
Based on a YouTube video I watched on editing
in iMovie '09 I set my video and audio outputs as follows...
    * Export using Quicktime
    * File Format: MPP4
    * Video Format: H.264
    * Data Rate: 8192
    * Image Size: 1920x1080HD
    * Frame Rate: 60
    Encoding: Faster Encode
    Audio Data Rate: 256kbps
    Encode Quality: Best
Now where can I improve encoding time without sacrificing
a huge amount of quality in my YouTube upload? I really want
the upload to look crisp HD on YouTube.
    Thanks

For what it's worth, I used these settings earlier today in a test.
    Share/Export Using QuickTime
    Movie to MPEG4
    Options:
    h.264
    10,000 kbits per second
    1920x1080HD
    Frame Rate 30
    Keyframe: Automatic
    Main Profile
    Single Pass.
Here are the [results for 1920x1080|http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdBwUzWZf9M]
Other test results are in [this thread|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2579263&tstart=0]
By the way, there is nothing magic about 10,000 kbps. If you used 16,000 kbps, it would be roughly the same data rate as Apple Intermediate Codec. But since YouTube does not penalize you for using a high data rate, as long as it fits their time limit, you can err on the side of high quality. The trick is to start high and then back off until you notice the quality dropping. In your case 8,000 may be fine.
My guess would be your frame rate is the issue. Most AVCHD camera shoot 30 frames per second (or 60 interlaced fields per second).

  • Having Multiple Adobe PDF printers with different output settings

    Hello,
My company is using Adobe Acrobat X and XI on Win 7 Pro, and we would like to create 2 separate Adobe PDF printers that have 2 different output settings. So I installed a second Adobe PDF printer using the same Adobe Converter Driver as was used to install the first one. Then, I went into Devices and Printers and I edited the printing preferences of one Adobe PDF printer, but what I found was when I changed the preferences of one printer, it automatically changes the other one as well. Is there a way around this?

Thanks for pointing me to the iTunes Folder Watch program. It looks like this will solve my immediate needs. It's a little clunky in spots, but does handle adding new files very well. And it only cost about $10 to get the fully functioning version with the automatic monitoring in the background.
I copied the iTunes library files to each account, setup a watch folder that points to the location of the iTunes library content and all the music syncs up perfectly without duplicates. I have yet to test the applications, but music, movies, TV Shows, audiobooks, and podcasts all work fine.
If anyone else is considering this product, just make sure you double check your file location in the iTune settings to make sure each account is pointing to the same location and is organizing the content in the same way or else the individual account libraries will fight against each other to organize all the content where it is configured to put it. Copying the library files isn't enough since some of these settings are in the Windows Registry.
I made this mistake at first. I had all the accounts pointing to the same folder, but one of them (the original) had the "Upgrade to iTunes Media Organization" turned on which categorizes all content into folders based on type such as music, movies, podcasts, etc. Since the others were organizing just based on artist and album this caused the accounts to try to reorganize the files when Folder Watcher would tell it there were new files to manage.
All in all, this solves most of my concerns, but I'm still surprised Apple hasen't added this natively into the iTunes product. Especially when this guy figured out how to write the software to do it and is only charging about 10 bucks to do it. Well I hope this guy makes a million bucks off his little product bacause he surely deserves it!

  • Global Folder View Settings

    Hello,
Is there an app for Mac OS 9 that will allow me to change the global folder view settings for things like Window Size & Position, Order of Columns, and Icon or List View? It seems that I spend too much time trying to get new windows to look like I want them to. I have searched for shareware apps with no success.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi, David -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
I'm not aware of any 3rd-party utility that can do all of that, or even much of it.
There is a work-around that will take care of most of it.
When a folder is created via the New Folder item in the File menu, that folder is automatically granted the defined characteristics (view, order, arrangement, etc.) of the enclosing, or parent, folder. For this purpose, the desktop is considered to be a folder.
If you have a preferred group of settings, set up an empty folder with those settings. Put it in a convenient place. Then, when you want to create a folder with those same characteristics, open that folder and create the new folder within it. The new daughter folder will be given the characteriestics of the parent folder. You can then move the newly created folder wherever you want, and it will retain those settings.

  • Sequence settings should match output settings

My friend has sent me a project to edit. with this sequence setting.

Sequence setting should match source settings.
Output settings can be what ever you want them to be.

  • Ilustrator CS6 - How do I edit the output settings?

Hi, its really annoying that I cant change the output settings when I save for web something. I just want to tell Illustrator that I dont want to create a new images folder everytime I save something, and I dont want to add a _N at the end of the file name...
Is there a way to change this?, I couldnt find it.
    Thanks.

This feature has been removed from CS6:
As quoted from this Adobe employee blog post on the new CS6 Save for Web feature:
The Output Settings dialog box, used to control HTML file formatting, slice naming, and background image handling, has been removed.
I haven't had any luck figuring out a work-around, but I'll keep poking around.

  • Light .mov file (output settings)

    Hi all,
I made a HD-promo for in my youth church with FCE. We are using Easy Worship (EW) on a Windows Vista to project everything. I installed the K-Light Codec pack for EW, so we can play .MOV (with ACC sound).
I have to be sure that the file will play. I can test the files, but want to be sure so I'm asking for some help.
The PC we are using is 3 years old, so not that fast anymore, so I think it's important to have a light file..
Which output-settings do you recommend for making a .Mov (with ACC sound).

Since you haven't specified the capabilities of your PCs, the only way to find out if they are 'slow' would be to experiment with one or more different video files/codecs until you have results you find satisfactory.
I suggested H.264 because it yields smaller files that retain significant visual quality. Whether or not it is the best codec for your situation remains to be seen.
An alternative would be to get Flip4Mac Studio or higher to export your video to WMV for use on your PCs.

  • Problem saving Output Settings in AV Lab

I have a 'document' that starts up automatically when I boot my MBA.  The file name it opens is "Audio Dynamics Processor.trak".
I am using this to compress audio output so that the sound volume is less dynamic.
The problem is that there is no sound when I start up. To hear the sound, I have to open the "Studio" tab, and change the Output Settings from Soundflower (2ch) to Built-in Output.  I save the document again under the same name (and I've verifed that the new version is getting save), but for some reason when it next starts up the Output Settings are once again set to Soundflower.
Any help as to how to make this change persist would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jerry

  • Editing Save for Web output settings with script

I'm just curious if it is possible to edit the Save for Web Output Settings in a script (Not the save for web options, but the "Edit Output Settings" in the drop down menu). I figured it would be somewhere under the .options, but I'm not finding anything.

You can find examples here in forum.
Here is one by Paul Riggott:
