Global fix for text box

Indesign:   I have a large text document with facing pages. The text box on all of the left hand pages is about 1 inch pushed to the right over the gutter. I can fix each one by hand but is there a way to globally change all of the left hand pages.
Larry Selman

I'm guessing probably not at this point (unless someone can offer a scripting solution). Normally I would give a try to adjusting the margins on the page to match the frame position, then turn on Layout adjustment and move them back to where they belong, but if the frame is crossing the gutter you can't set a neagative margin to snap to it.

  • Set default width for text box in Adobe Acrobat X

    Hello!
I am using the textbox tool to add comments to a document. (not the Typewriter, but the Textbox, since that has more flexibility for formatting the text).
I know how to set the default proprties for text size, color, background color, etc.
Cannot figure out however to to set the default width. Every time I try to add a new textbox, it defaults to about 1 or 2 inches wide, so the text wraps around and around, and then I have to resize the box when I am done.
Is there a way to change the default width?
    Thanks!

    Hi, Amonra
I drew a box I like, and select, and then, Ctrl+C, and then Ctrl+V.
And move the pasted box where to need, and resize the length. At least I get same width boxes.
I don't know how to default it.
I hope it may help you.

  • Can I stop iWeb from making png image files for text boxes?

I have a web page that contains one text box - the TextEdit file from which I pasted the text is 4 KB. The html file from iWeb is 12 KB. The shapeimage_2.png file is 132 KB! Is this necessary? How do I stop this. This is just text. Arial font, regular, 15 pt. The formating in the TextEdit version and the iWeb version is identical.

Some tips from this forum for reducing the number of png files in a web site:
1 - do not use and frames or borders, etc. around photos.
    2 - don't use any reflections.
3 - create your own navigation bar with linked text* and turn of the iWeb Navigation bar. That's because the nav bar is all png based.
*Put your linked text directly under the Navigation bar. Then turn off the nav bar in the Inspector window. The nav bar will disappear and the linked text will move up to the top of the page as seen in this screenshot.
4 - use only the web safe fonts from the Font pane.
5 - do not use drop shadow on fonts.
6 - turn off smart quotes
7 - if you add a jpg to a page don't resize it in iWeb as that will cause it to be converted to png. Resize it to what you need before adding to the page..
The above will reduce the number and size of files associated with a web page quite a bit. Photos with fancy frames and reflections can generate a thumbnail png of around 110KB whereas the plain version will be a jpg of only 28KB. Although it doesn't sound like a lot, it will speed up loading of the page and be more darkside (i.e. PC) friendly.
Run a test with a test site and publish to a folder. Then follow the hints above and publish to another folder and compare folders.

  • Empty space check for text box

i need to verify null check for textbox fields and it sould not allow spaces as well.... is there any way like trim functions.. please help me..
Already tried with JavaScript's trim() and not working... I'm using es3

Hello and welcome to the forum,
You do not tell which version you are using? And I suppose you are talking about a Text Entry Box?
If you want to check if the right text is entered, you'll have to tick 'Validate User Input' in the General accordion of the TEB Properties panel.
A HUD will appear under the TEB, labeled Correct Entries. With the + button you can add correct values (text that is correct when the TEB is validated), eventually check the 'Case Sensitive' option.
In the Options accordion you can check the captions to appear (like for a button or a click box).
When the user clicks the Submit button or uses the shortcut key for the TEB, one of two actions (Action accordion) will be performed:
Success: if the text was correct, you can choose there for 'Go to Next Slide'
Last Attempt after the attempts are exhausted

  • Global settings for Text Fields?

Is there a way to set the properties for all Text Fields in a Form to be identical
-- with the exception of size -- (instead of having to reset the properties each
    time a field is created)?

Like ~grafitti stated, you can set field defaults. Create a field that has the properties you want then right click on the field and select Use Current Properties as New Default.
For already created fields, you can select all the fields on a page, right click, select Properties, and change the  properties all at once. You can actually set matching height and width too; with the fields you want the same selected, right click, and select Set Fields to Same Size.

  • Parallax scrolling fix for text scroll?

    Hello.
    Two questions.
Having tried Muse and built this in the first day - http://htestsite.businesscatalyst.com/index.html - is this the only way to scroll text, whilst maintaining the fixed page layout?
If so, why, when preview appears to function correctly, does the published site reveal gaps above the header and footer?
    Any thoughts or feedback appreciated,
    H

So weird that you dont get the problem when taping on a menu button. Still, that anchor thing may be the problem cause now that I remeber anchirs where a little bit to the left out of the effective area, so that could be the problem. I'm gonna try changing that and report results.
    Thanks so much triquita.

  • Scrollbars disappear for text boxes when I click 'Sign' and 'Send Signed Document'!!

I recieve a number of forms from another company with which I need to fill in and return back. These boxes allow me to type into the fields, and if I type too much, a scroll bar will show so I can change it at any time I like.
The issue i'm having is because Adobe thought it'd be clever to only show the scroll bar when you click a field, when you click 'Send Signed Document', it won't allow me to edit the document again. This means any information I have typed beyond the box limit is unviewable - that's no good to the company I need to send it back to.
How do I get a scrollbar to show for this?
My only other option is to just click 'Save as' and send it, but then my document is at risk of being edited by someone else.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

In the past they have, however by ticking the box to agree to the terms and conditions and adding a signature renders the form unreadable if i've typed more than the box will visibly show. In truth it's poorly done, should have made the box expandable, but I still don't see why I need to be clicking the box to get a scroll bar. If the information I type is effectively stamped down so I can't click on it again, why not give me a scroll bar so I can at least read back what i've written and/or amend things if necessary?
It's bizarre, and i'm at a loss what to do.

  • How can I enable spell checking for a text box that is just one line, e.g. subject in e-mail?

In a prior version of Firefox I found a website somewhere that told me what to do to enable spell checking for text boxes that are just one line. I got used to being able to send an e-mail with a Subject Line that didn't have a misspelling. Now it doesn't work. Please tell me how I can enable that again. I am on a Mac using Firefox 6.0.2. Thanks!

    See:
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/layout.spellcheckDefault
You can set the pref <b>layout.spellcheckDefault</b> to <i>2</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • How do I get rid of various lines around text boxes when using navigation panes

How can I get rid of these various lines that are displaying sporatically around different text boxes . . . but only when the navigation panel is displaying?  I previously had the issue and changed the text box properties to no fill.  It fixed the problem in the document with no navigation panel, but once the navigation panel is displayed the lines appear.  And yes, I fixed the text box properties before creating the bookmarks for the navigation panel.

Every device, browser and browser version has its idiosyncrasies.
Just using a stroke and a drop shadow should not have been enough to require Muse to convert the page fill to an image. Were/are there also other effects on the page? Are the page corners slightly rounded?
Bevel and Inner Glow definitely require an image to be created. Most other effects/properties do not.

  • How do I save a font and it's size and color in a text box as a default

I am using Adobe Acrobat XI for Mac and can't figure out how to set a default font for text boxes. I don't seem to be able to access the properties to set the default by highlighting a properly formatted text box and pressing ctrl-e. Is there another key combination for Mac? Or another method for setting defaults? I'm finding I have to set the font, size and color every time I open a new Acrobat doc and want to add a text box. Also, the choices are not even saving with the document. The fonts already typed save correctly, but on reopening, I have to reset if I want to add more text.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Tom Carlson

Thanks for the suggestions. I've got a Logitech G700S Mouse with a right click button, so right-clicking isn't an issue. Unfortunately, the I can't seem to find the menu to "Use Current Properties as New Defaults." I may not have described the problem correctly.
I am adding text to a pre-existing pdf document, not creating a form. I would like to be able to set a default font, size and color for text, so that when I enter text in a text box onto the pdf document, it has those properties. If I select the text box that is properly formatted (not the text, but the box) and right click, the only choices I get are:
    Cut
    Copy
    Delete
    Select All
    Deselect All
    Arrange>
    Edit Using>
So I gues my question is if one can even format a text box as a default or a "style" or the like. I tried setting a default font, size and color for "comments" also in the Acrobat preferences, but even that didn't seem to stick when I opened a new doc. This all may just be a Mac / Mavericks interaction flaw. Anybody have any other ideas?

  • Linking a slideshow with a text box on Muse

    Hi!
So I'm creating my first every website on Adobe Muse, so I'm still new to its functions.
I'm creating an online portfolio for myself. What I want to do, is have a menu bar containing the names of all my projects, and clicking on one link would open up a lightbox-slideshow. At least I want to make this happen, I'm not sure if I can do it. Its fairly easy to do it on Dreamweaver, you just drag the hyperlink to the image/file you want and that's it. I'm wondering if there's something like that I can do in Adobe Muse?
Its fine if it doesn't happen that way, but are there any alternatives? I basically have a lot of projects, and I want people to be able to select a text box/image and open the project so they can view all the images of that particular project.
    Am I making sense?
For reference, here's the idea behind it -
    http://gemmasuttondesign.com
Its my friend's wordpress blog. You click on an image to view the entire project. Can I do this on Muse?
Really need help here, my deadline for the portfolio is coming up in a few days and I need to sort this out!
    Thank you xx

    Hi
Yes, you can do this using widgets in muse. You can either use Lightbox composition where the triggers can be used for text box or image and then on click it would bring up the images in lightbox mode.
Or you can use any other composition for similar effect, if you are looking for some pop-up box with images on click to trigger then you can use Tooltip.
Additionally you can use Panel widget if you want auto slide for images.

Picture below, many thanks for your help.
    Jason

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
If you still have problems, then from the Font Book menu bar, select
              File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.

Since moving to Maverick and the new updated of Keynote, I have a constant problem when typing in a text box, the program crashes. Is there a bug fix for this. Drives me nuts. Like many who can type quite quickly but at secretarial level, the text box freezes, nothing works and you know what's coming...crash!
This is most annoying. Is there bug fixes for this. Apparently I have the current updates and this problem still exists. Is it a Maverick bug or Keynote.

How did you install Mavericks, as an update ontop of the previous OS or did you wipe the drive and install clean?
