Global Services in Ireland

I will be leaving for Ireland in the next few weeks. I have read how to make phone calls to the US and to Irish phone numbers while there, once I activate a global plan. However, a couple of questions. How exactly do people in Ireland dial their cellphones to call me (format)? Do they get any extraneous charges, or whatever their plan calls for? How do people call me from the US, the same way they would if I was home? If they call me, do they incur charges outside of their normal plan, or is it as if I am in the states?

Of course you could simply purchase a local SIM card, swap it for the Verizon SIM card currently in your phone and use that to make calls. Service will be dramatically less expensive than Verizon's exorbitant international rates and calls to numbers in Ireland will not incur international rates, rather local rates. Data rates would be much more reasonable, too.
You would have to give your contacts in the US your new number with the local carrier for them to be able to get in touch with you at the new number.
It takes a bit more work to get started, but you will save a LOT of money.

  • Deployed KM Scheduler Task Does Not Appear in Global Services / Scheduler T

    Hi All,
I've deployed a portal service and a KM scheduler task in the same DC but cannot see the scheduler task listed under System Admin -> System Config -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> Scheduler Tasks.
The service works correctly and performs its periodic processing once on initialisation of the service, and I can see the resulting log statements to make sure it has worked.
Both the service and the scheduler task are packed inside the same DC, which builds and deploys without any errors.
There are no errors in the log regarding the deployment of the DC, or the scheduler task.
There is a log statement about registering the classloader for the DC, which I assume is the statement in the IRFServiceWrapper init() that goes:
    CrtClassLoaderRegistry.addClassLoader(this.getKey(), this.getClass().getClassLoader());
But I still dont see the task listed in Global Services -> Scheduler Tasks.
Does anyone know what might be causing this or how to diagnose the problem further?
    Cheers,
    Steve

    Hi Srini,
No it doesn't it just has the run method which is generated automatically.
I have created a local Portal Application project, which is not in a DC, and this also does not have a default constructor ether but appears in the Scheduler Tasks list as soon as it is deployed.
I also tried to create a Portal Applicaiton DC and Portal Applicaiton (Packaged as SDA) DC and despite the scheduler task being the same, both the DC tasks do not appear in the Scheduler Tasks.
The only one I can get to work is the local Portal Application project. This is no use as we cant store this in DTR (unless someone can explain how to do this???).
The Portal Application project packages up the RF Framework JARS inside its PAR file, but the DC and SDA projects dont, so I tried including them via an Assembly Public Part to an External Library DC, which does include the JARs in the deployment files but they still dont appear in the Scheduler Tasks.
Has anyone out there got a working Scheduler Task in a Portal Application DC?
    Cheers,
    Steve

  • Global Service Monitor (GSM) Config

Hello all, I have recently configured GSM with the external monitoring services being in the U.S.
When I look at the monitor - Authoring>MP Objects>Monitors>Multi-URL Template (*Monitor Name*) it shows enabled is set to true.
However when I look at - Monitoring>Monitoring>Application Monitoring>Web Application Availability Monitoring>Web Application Status - The monitor does not have a check mark next to it.
When I look at - Monitoring>Monitoring>Application Monitoring>Web Application Availability Monitoring>Test State - none of the five external servers are checked and they all say "Not Monitored"
So I'm trying to figure out if it's enabled or not and if not where do I go to enable it?  When I have setup internal (Non GSM) web tests they are just enabled so I'm not sure what's different with this one.
    Thank you,
    Matt

    Hi,
Would you please restart the health service on the external servers. And we may try to flush health service state and caches for those server.
In addition, have you followed the below link to install GSM:

    Hi Experts,
I have created one KM Global Service from the <b> com.sap.netweaver.kmc.globalservice.zip</b> file.  I have downloaded this zip file from <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/nw/netweaver-developers-guide-2004s/NetWeaverDevelopersGuide2004s_Documents/KM_articles_new/examples/index.html">SAP Developer's Guide</a>.
I have created the Global Service project by importing this zip file as <b> Multiple Existing Projects into workspace</b> in NWDS 7.0 SP 9....
I have referenced all the jar files to the project, no errors in the project....
When i try to deploy this project, i am getting the error in the view description as below:

    Hi Praveen,
Thanks for your reply and i have awarded points to you.  I can able to deploy the Global Service after renaming <b>install</b> instead of <b>local</b>.  But the Global Service is a little complex.  If you (or anybody) have any coding for global service, please send me (My MailID is: [email protected] ) or paste the code here.

  • Issue in Global Services Monitor GSM

    Dear all,
I'm facing a problem in Global Services Monitor.
The Resources pool contains 4 Management Servers; 2 old and 2 recently installed.
The GSM was installed and was working normally on the old Management Servers.
But, after increasing the number of management servers to be 4 instead of two, the problem appeared.
The GSM is firing alerts on the new MS's and their state are critical (old 2 servers are healthy).
The alert description is as below:

    Hi
Is there any requirement to install the Microsoft Root Certificate on the server where SCOM console is working? Shall I need to purchase Windows Azure Subscription also for GSM? Please let me know.
The scenario is - I have one SCOM server (Including all the server roles on the single server) and other server where VMM server and SCOM console is installed. I have installed GSM Management Packs on the SCOM server and configured one Web Availability Monitor

  • How to use Properties Metadata global service using KM API's

    Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to get the list of property Namespaces configured in the KM Portal and also all property Names associated with each Namespace.
I was able to see the list of Namespaces in KM portal at "ContentManagement --> Global Services --> Property Metadata --> Namespaces"
Is there any way to access the Property Metadata service and get the list of Namespaces?
I have seen few posts using the IPropertyConfigurationService as below:
    IPropertyConfigurationService configService;
    try {
    configService =
    (IPropertyConfigurationService) ResourceFactory
    .getInstance()
    .getServiceFactory()
    .getService("PropertyConfigurationService");
    } catch (PropertyConfigurationServiceException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
I am not sure if IPropertyConfigurationService has API's to give the list of Namespaces as I was not able to figure out the jar file in which API's related to IPropertyConfigurationService exists.
Will the IPropertyConfigurationService be useful to fetch all the configured Namespaces? If so, which jar file should I place in my build and class path?
Also, Can I get the property names associated with each namespace?
Any help or hint is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

    Hi Praveen,
Thanks for the information on km.shared.service.propertyconfig_api.jar file. I have located the file in the mentioned location and was using it sucessfully.
I was able to use IPropertyConfigurationService  and fetch the MetaData properties in the Portal application.
But, when I place the same code on WebDynpro application it doesn't work.
I have placed the km.shared.service.propertyconfig_api.jar in lib folder of the WebDynpro project, but on runtime I get ClassNotFound exceptions of various classes.
I was wondering if there is any configuration that need to be mentioned for accessing KM Portal applications in WebDynpro.
I have found one post related to this which was talking about using IPropertyConfigurationService in WebDynpro, but not directly, using EJB
    Link:[https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=338383]
Can you throw some hints on how to go about this issue.
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

  • Is Global Service Exchange available for training purposes?

    Hello,
I am a very well educated teen about to turn 18 soon and am ready to apply to Apple. I have been waiting a long time for this and have studied as much as i could from all the products I could afford (Mainly iOS). My question here is as follows; is there any way i could use Global Service Exchange for personal use only on my own devices? I hear it is what genius reps use and id really like to get some experience with it before i apply. Is there any other software you could recommend for me? (for training). If it is Mac only then it wont do me good as I am stuck with a PC for the time being. I own all 3 popular iOS devices (4 if you like to count the Apple TV) and am familiar with their older generations. I need to learn as much more as i can so please! any suggestions help!.
I thank the community ahead for any answers I receive with other software, however my main concern at the moment is the global service exchange tool.
P.S. I am aware that knowledge of just iOS devices isn't very impressive, just keep in mind that Mac certification training programs are not available in my area. Id love any tips with this issue as well!.

    Greetings,
The answer is no. As far as I know, GSX is exclusively for internal Apple Store and repair facility´s use.  If gaining access to GSX is what you want, you might consider first obtaining the Apple Certified Mac Technician Certification.  This certification will enable you to obtain a Technician ID, which you will later need to sign into GSX.It will also give you the skills needed to be hired at an Apple Store or an Authorized Apple Repair Provider.
The app the Geniuses use is propertary of Apple, and used only at its stores. Belive me, I tried to get it on my iPhone.  But anyways, Apple offers tons of options to become Apple Certified. Just go http://certifications.apple.com, and register using your Apple ID.  I believe you will encounter reading material regarding where to go for certifications.
Hopefully I did not reply too late.
    Good luck!

  • Global Service Query

    Hi all
I downloaded the sample application from sdn called <b>com.sap.netweaver.kmc.globalservice.zip</b>Its sample global service for capturing KM events.
I modified only the EventHandler.java and added some JCO statements in the method when something gets deleted from KM repository.
While creating PAR file I renamed dir called local to install under src config, because it was giving exception.
Now I deployed the PAR in portal. I can see the service active under Global Services in System Admin .
But its not working. I think its not able to catch the events at all. The JCO code is ok as I tried it in other application where its working fine.
    Please suggest a way .
    Points will be definitely awarded.

I am currently in Cameroon, Africa and after arriving here, I added Global services to my plan in hopes to be able to use my phone to call local numbers.  When I dial local numbers in Cameroon, with or without the country code, the call fails.  I suspect it may be that the phone is 3G and this area only supports 2G.  Help!

    cctga,
We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us. I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble while traveling. We definitely want to make sure you have all available options. Normally when traveling internationally we reccommend setting up international services prior to leaving. When you added the services did you do so online or with a rep? It would be best to contact our global department in order to troubleshoot any and all issues with services while international http://vz.to/17KseUf.

  • Delete Global Service Manually

    Hello,
First of all I would like to say that I already read the previous Delete Global Service topic.
Now, the problem: I have a custom global service implementation. I want to completely remove it from the portal. The thing is that during development this service was renamed several times and a number of configuration changes have been made (I cannot trace back all the changes).
Now I have several instances of the service and I want to delete them. Is there a way to delete them, manually? (if I remove the co.xml from the par and upload again, it doesnt work).
    I am running portal version 6.0.14.0.0 (NW04 SPS14).
The service is defined as a singleton.
    Thank you,
    Silviu Lipovan Oanca.

    Hi Silviu,
does this thread help you or did you already try it?

  • Delete Global Service

    Hi,
Is it possible to delete a global service (not only deativate it)? I'm working with a EP 6.0 NW04 Stack 10 portal.
    Regards, Daniel

    Hi Thilo
Thanks for your answer. My problem is, that I have two Global Services with 2 instaces (see error message below), and one of this instances is active (But both share the same java class). So if I undeploy the class the CM won't start up anymore, because the class for the Global Service is missing. On the other hand I can't deactivate the Global Service, because there are 2 instances... Any ideas?
Configuration object ".../MSPropertyExtractor Global Service/MSPropertyExtractor" is not a singleton: 2 instances exist for the correponding config class ".../Global Services/MSPropertyExtractor Global Service".
    Regards, Daniel

I am having some troubles Configuring any of the Repositorys (CM or FS) it seems that does not take the network path created inside Global Services -> Network Path.
In the other hand if I put the direction
server ip\Folder directly. I got a different error that tells me that the user & Password is wrong. But the user & password is specified in the network path.
    Any Idea would be appreciated.

    Hello Sascha,
I think that you didn´t understanme I Tried it in the following two ways and got the following erros:
1.- I create a Network path inside Global Services -> Network Path
    Name: Windows_FileSystem
    jCIFS Protocol: checked
    Network Path:
    server olfer
    Password: xxxx
    User: xxx
Then in the repository manager (CM & FS) in the parameter Root Directory I put Windows_FileSystem.
The error that I got was:
Startup Error:  The localroot does not exist: /usr/sap/PS2/JC60/j2ee/cluster/server0/Windows_FileSystem
It seems that the portal is looking inside itself instead of using the network Path
2.- in the repository manager (CM & FS) in the parameter Root Directory I put
    server olfer
The error that I got was:
    Startup Error: Wrong user/password
But here I didn´t specified any user or password... because the user and password are in the network path.
I am trying to conect a Repository Manager (CM  or FS) using the portals on UNIX and the FS on Windows.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Removing FTP from Global service policy

    Hi Everyone,
I removed FTP  from global service policy.
I have no ACL that permits or deny FTP traffic.
But my understanding was if we remove some inspect from global service policy it does not work.
But i am still able to access FTP websites?
Is this default behaviour with global policy?
    Regards
    MAhesh

    Hi Mahesh,
I guess if it has an effect on your FTP connections depends on the type of FTP connection used, Active or Passive.
To my understanding the "inspect ftp" mainly helps with the Active FTP where the Client first connects to the FTP server with Control port TCP/21 and then the server open the Data connection to the Client with the source Data port of TCP/20. So in this case the firewall has to first allow the FTP Control connection (TCP/21) from the Client to the Server. This is usually allowed by your normal ACL rules or if you are using "security-level" configurations only it should also be allowed like any other TCP traffic.
Now when the Server starts to open the Data connection with a source port TCP/20 towards the destination port that the Client told the server over the Control connection we might then run into problems.
So essentially the firewall will be seing an connection attempt coming from the "outside" with the source port TCP/20 and with a destination port TCP/xxxxx. Without "inspect ftp" to my understanding this should be blocked like any other TCP connection you have not allowed.
So the "inspect ftp" configurations purpose is to dynamically allow the FTP Data connection through the firewall when this Data connection is being built from the "outside" to the "inside".
The reason why your FTP connection keeps working even after removing the "inspect ftp" is probably because you are using Passive FTP. In Passive FTP and Client opens both Control and Data connection to the server so there usually isnt anything on the firewall blocking the Client from opening both of these connections. Also we dont need anything on the firewall telling about the Data connections ports because they are being opened from the "inside" of the firewall so the firewall doesnt have to allow any connection initiation from the "outside" like with Active FTP.
Here is one site explaining the 2 FTP types:

Here is the ASA Command Reference section explaining the use of "inspect ftp"
