Global shared memory

hi all,
im need to maintain some data insideEJB container which will be frequently accesed by almost all of my application components. Like Global Shared Memory (GSM) in C++, is there any way of maintaining this data im memory since the application is performance critical .
Most of my components are session and message driver beans,. Any component should access , the above mentioned common data and should be done without performance (speed) drawback .
Please help me in this matter , as this is of utmost importance in the application design .
Also suggest me some web links on the topic .

If you are going to keep in temporary basis for one transaction, then you can keep the data in Java Bean object. You can put your data in a collection object and set it on the JavaBean object. Make sure the instance of the Java Bean object should be sent to each EJB so that they all will be referring to the same bean instance. Otherwise you will not get the data.
If you want keep it for long, let's say for the session, then put the data in Stateful session bean. Make this session bean local so that other EJBs can access data locally rather making remote calls. You may use SessionFacade pattern to control the transaction properly.
Hope this answers your question.
Thanks

  • [SSIS.Pipeline] Warning: Warning: Could not open global shared memory to communicate with performance DLL

    Hi All,
    I am running an SSIS solution that runs 5 packages in sequence.  Only one package fails because of the error:
    [SSIS.Pipeline] Warning: Warning: Could not open global shared memory to communicate with performance DLL; data flow performance counters are not available.  To resolve, run this package as an administrator, or on the system's console.
    I have added myself to the performance counters group.
    I am running windows 7 with SSIS 2008.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.  I have read that some have disabled the warning, but I cannot figure out how to disable a warning.
    Thanks.
    Ivan

    Hi Ivan,
    A package would not fail due the warning itself, speaking of which means the account executing it is not privileged to load the Perf counters, and should thus be safely ignored.
    To fix visit: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2496375/en-us
    So, the package either has an error or it actually runs.

    I am getting the following warning for my SSIS08 package:

    I did check Warning in SSIS 2008 , but didn't find any solution.
    The package processes data and executes fine , but why do I see this warning? When I run this package on my machine, I see no such warning, it's only when I deploy it to our DEV SSIS server, I get this warning.

    You have to include the account you use to execute the package in the performance counters group.

    Could you tell me where is "performance counters" group, I can not find it.

  • Enhanced protected mode and global named shared memory object

    Good morning.
    I've written a bho that do data exchange with a system service. The service creates named shared memory objects in the Global namespace. Outside appcontainer IE 11 sandboxed everything works fine lowering objects integrity level. Inside the sandboxed environment
    OpenFileMappingW seems to return a valid handle but the calls to MapViewOfFile always gives access denied. What i'm missing? Thank you.
    Service code for security descriptor creation:
    if (InitializeSecurityDescriptor(pSA->lpSecurityDescriptor, SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR_REVISION))
    if (ConvertStringSecurityDescriptorToSecurityDescriptorW(L"D:P(A;;GA;;;WD)(A;;GA;;;AC)", SDDL_REVISION_1, &pSecDesc, NULL) == TRUE)//
                BOOL fAclPresent = FALSE;
                BOOL fAclDefaulted = FALSE;
                if (GetSecurityDescriptorDacl(pSecDesc, &fAclPresent, &pDacl, &fAclDefaulted) == TRUE)
                    bRetval = SetSecurityDescriptorDacl(pSA->lpSecurityDescriptor, TRUE, pDacl, FALSE);
            if (bRetVal ==TRUE && ConvertStringSecurityDescriptorToSecurityDescriptorW(L"S:(ML;;NW;;;LW)", SDDL_REVISION_1, &pSecDesc, NULL) == TRUE)
                BOOL fAclPresent = FALSE;
                BOOL fAclDefaulted = FALSE;
                if (GetSecurityDescriptorSacl(pSecDesc, &fAclPresent, &pSacl, &fAclDefaulted) == TRUE)
                    bRetval = SetSecurityDescriptorSacl(pSA->lpSecurityDescriptor, TRUE, pSacl, FALSE);
                    OutputDebugStringW(L"SACL ok.");
        return bRetval;

    LPMEMORYBUFFER OpenDataChannel(HANDLE *hQueue)
        LPMEMORYBUFFER lp = NULL;
        WCHAR data[512] = { 0 };
        for (int a = 0;; a++)
            if(iestatus==FALSE)StringCchPrintfW(data, 512,L"Global\\UrlfilterServiceIE.%d", a);//NOT in EPM
            else StringCchPrintfW(data, 512, L"%s\\Global\\UrlfilterServiceIE.%d",appcontainernamedobjectpath, a);//in EPM
            *hQueue = OpenFileMappingW(FILE_MAP_ALL_ACCESS, TRUE, data);//FILE_MAP_ALL_ACCESS
            if (*hQueue != NULL)
                //file mappato esistente
                lp = (LPMEMORYBUFFER)MapViewOfFile(*hQueue, FILE_MAP_ALL_ACCESS, 0, 0, sizeof(MEMORYBUFFER));//FILE_MAP_ALL_ACCESS
                if (lp != NULL)

    Ciao Ritchie, thanks for coming here. ;-)
    I call (only) OpenFileMapping and MapViewOfFile inside my code and i get access denied at the first try. As i stated before this happens when IE11 is working inside EPM 32/64bit mode, outside EPM it works as it should. However i decided to take a different
    approach to do IPC, because, you want it or not, the service is up and running as SYSTEM... Still i'm really interested about two points:
    1) can i use global kernel objects in EPM mode?
    2) if one is "yes, you can": what's wrong with my code? The security descriptor? Something else?
    Thanks all.

  • Disp+work stop because of shared memory?

    Hello Gurus, I have an SAP server that will not start. It was running previously, but after a parameter update and an instance restart, I cannot get the dispatcher running.
    System is Windows 2012 Server, MSSQL 2008 R2, 16 Core 132 GB RAM.
    I believe it is related to shared memory overlapping somehow, but  I am not sure how to resolve or investigate. I have had issues previously with memory overlap halting SAP servers with Diagnostics Agents, but this server is not currently running any DAA. It is running SAPRouter and some SAP Web Dispatcher instances.
    I will include my trace files below:
    Please help!

    Hi Alwina, here is the DEV_ICM trace:
    From this trace, it appears that it is listening to 65000?
    Netstat shows that the system is listening to 127.0.0.1:65000 .
    Other SAP ports show listening on 0:0:0:0:xxxx , is ICM listening on 127 a problem?

    Hi Wim
    You should say that "It may be Control File problem", but you shouldn't say that "it's due to Control File" problem
    Please refer to Errors Documentation for more information on ORA-00600
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14219/e0.htm#sthref371

    Now i am stucked I dunno what to do

    I dunno what is this fuckin shared memoryThis fuckin shared memory is how oracle does interprocess communication. When you connect to Oracle, you have to connect to this area. If you tell it the wrong area, it won't find it. You can see the areas with the ipcs command on the server. Since you can connect locally, but can't connect remotely, there is something wrong with how you told Oracle to connect remotely. Remotely can be on the same host if you have an @ in the connect string.

    ORACLE_BASE=/home/oracle
    ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/
    seems like my variables are good.
    Well I dunno what to do I didn't think getting a simple login locally over tcp/ip would be so difficult, I am afraid of what will happen after this will work :) As it should be one of the easiest things on oracle what about the hardest :)Well, first try removing the trailing slash from ORACLE_HOME everywhere, including if you have it in the listener.ora. Then compare the tnsnames.ora ORACLE_HOME with your environment ORACLE_HOME. In fact, if you have a listener.ora, try renaming it to something else and restarting the listener.
    That error is normally due to a bad ORACLE_HOME or ORACLE_SID. Since your tnsping works, that indicates the ORACLE_HOME is good. But all that tells you is that the listener responds. Other causes may be inadequate processes in init.ora or case issues with the sid, or just generally not following the installation instructions. But are there installation instructions for debian?
    With multiple databases on one host, some kernel parameters may need to be increased.

  • SHARED MEMORY AND DATABASE MEMORY giving problem.

    Hello Friends,
    I am facing problem with EXPORT MEMORY and IMPORT MEMORY.
    I have developed one program which will EXPORT the internal table and some variables to the memory.This program will call another program via background job. IMPORT memory used in another program to get the first program data.
    This IMPORT command is working perfect in foreground. But  it is not working in background.
    So, I have reviewed couple of forums and I tried both SHARED MEMORY AND DATABASE MEMORY.  But no use. Still background is giving problem.
    When I remove VIA JOB  parameter in the SUBMIT statement it is working. But i need to execute this program in background via background job. Please help me . what should I do?
    pls find the below code of mine.
    option1
    EXPORT TAB = ITAB
           TO DATABASE indx(Z1)
                FROM   w_indx
                CLIENT sy-mandt
                ID     'XYZ'.
    option2
    EXPORT ITAB   FROM ITAB
      TO SHARED MEMORY indx(Z1)
      FROM w_indx
      CLIENT sy-mandt
      ID 'XYZ'.
       SUBMIT   ZPROG2   TO SAP-SPOOL
                      SPOOL PARAMETERS print_parameters
                       WITHOUT SPOOL DYNPRO
          *_VIA JOB name NUMBER number*_
                       AND RETURN.

    Hope every bidy understood the problem.
    my sincere request is ... pls post only relavent answer. do not post dummy answer for points.
    Thanks
    Raghu

    Hi.
    You can not exchange data between your programs using ABAP memory, because this memory is shared between objects within the same internal session.
    When you call your report using VIA JOB, a new session is created.
    Instead of using EXPORT and IMPORT to memory, put both programs into the same Function Group, and use global data objects of the _TOP include to exchange data.
    Another option, is to use SPA/GPA parameters (SET PARAMETER ID / GET PARAMETER ID), because SAP memory it is available between all open sessions. Of course, it depends on wich type of data you want to export.
    Hope it was helpful,
    Kind regards.

  • Oracle 11g problem with creating shared memory segments

    Hi, i'm having some problems with the oracle listener, when i'm trying to start it or reload it I get the follow error massages:
    TNS-01114: LSNRCTL could not perform local OS authentication with the listener
    TNS-01115: OS error 28 creating shared memory segment of 129 bytes with key 2969090421

    I've seen that a solution might be "Make sure that system resources like shared memory and heap memory are available for LSNRCTL tool to execute properly."
    I'm not exactly sure how to check that there is enough resources?
    I've also seen a solution stating:
    "Try adjusting the system-imposed limits such as the maximum number of allowed shared memory segments, or their maximum and minimum sizes. In other cases, resources need to be freed up first for the operation to succeed."
    I've tried to modify the "max-sem-ids" parameter and set it to recommended 256 without any success and i've kind of run out of options what the error can be?
    /Regards

    I see, I do have the max-shm-ids quite high already so it shouldn't be a problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    user21123, the init.ora and/or spfile have nothing to do with this issue. These errors means that you are attempting to connect to an Oracle instance that cannot be located. This can be because you have an environment error setting as the first response mentioned or before the target instance is not running as I mentioned.
    Here is the error when the environment variables are set correctly but the database is not started.

  • Shared memory between LV and a DLL

    Hello
    I am building a DLL in Visual .NET. It is called by LV in a .vi
    The DLL is counting some stuffs over a network, and I d'like to see the
    counter status in the vi, dynamically. This means that when the
    variable is changed is the DLL, the LabView variable changes too.
    I tryed to do this using shared memory, and passing a pointer to the
    DLL. Unfortunately, it seems that the value isn't updated while the DLL
    is running.
    Please tell me the way to do this. I read about global variable, but it isn't much better.
    Thanks versy much !
    Fabien
    PS: I am using LabView 7.1 and VisualStudio .NET 7.0.9500  in C language.
    Message Edité par faquin le 08-02-2005 07:45 AM

    Since you say the DLL does not finish executing, you will need some method where both programs can communicate.
    Here are a couple of suggestions (haven't tried any of them):
    You can try using TCP (search the example finder and this site for examples and tutorials).
    You can try opening a connection to the LV VI server from the DLL to set the value of the indicator.
    If the DLL is threadsafe, maybe you can have another DLL which will serve as a buffer - your DLL will call it to put the data in and LV will call it to extract the data (assuming LV can call 2 threadsafe DLL functions at the same time).
    Try to take over the world!

    SHARED MEMORY 문제(ORA-7329, ORA-7331, ORA-7279)
    ================================================
    PURPOSE
    다음은 shared memory 문제가 발생하는 경우(ora-7329,ora-7331,
    ora-7279) 에 대해서 알아본다.
    Explanation
    1. 왜 Problem 이 생기나?
    * Oracle 은 Process와 SGA(System Global Area) 간의
    Communication를 위해 Shared Memory와 Semaphore 를 사용한다.
    Oracle Instance 가 뜰 때 SGA를 Create하기 위해 Main Memory의
    임의의 부분을 할당하는데 이 때 Shared Memory 나 Semaphore 가
    적절하지 않으면 이에 관련한 Error가 발생한다.
    2. 해결 방안
    SGA는 Shared Memory 안에 생기므로 Shared Memory 는 각 Process에게
    사용 가능해야 한다.
    Shared memory 와 Semaphore parameter 는
    - SHMMAX = 1개의 shared memory segment 의 maximum size,
    SGA 크기 이상
    - SHMMIN = 1개의 shared memory segment 의 minimum size, 1 byte
    - SHMMNI = shared memory identifier의 숫자, 100 이상
    - SHMSEG = 1개의 process에 attach되는 shared memory segment의
    maximum 갯수, 10 이상
    - SEMMNS = system의 semaphore 갯수, 200 이상
    - SEMMNI = 시스템에서 identifier를 setting하는 semaphore 수,
    70 이상
    - SEMMSL = semaphore set 당 최대 semaphore 갯수,
    initSID.ora 의 processes 값 이상

    Shared Memory 와 Semaphore Parameter는 OS 의 Kernel Configuration
    화일에 반드시 지정되어야 하며, File의 위치는 OS마다 차이가 있다.
    현재의 Shared Memory 와 Semaphore Configuration 을 알기 위해서는
    다음의 Command를 이용한다.
    $ sysdef |more
    * HP-UX (relevant sections only) 에서의 예:
    Semaphore 관련 Parameters
    - maximum value for semaphores(semaem)= 16384
    - Semaphore map(semmap)= 4098
    - number of semaphore identifiers(semmni) = 4096
    - total number of semaphores in the system(semmns) = 8192
    - number of semaphore undo structures(semmnu) = 1536
    - semaphore undo entries per process(semume) = 512
    - semaphore maximum value(semvmx) = 32767
    Shared Memory 관련 Parameters
    - maximum shared memory segment size in bytes(shmmax) = 536870912
    - minimum shared memory segment size in bytes(shmmin) = 1
    - maximum shared memory segments in system (shmmni) = 512
    - maximum shared memory segments per process(shmseg) = 512
    NOTE: SHMMAX는 현 system에 8개의 instance가 수행될 수 있는
    충분한 값이다.
    * Shared memory 또는 semaphore parameters 를 변경하기 위해서는 ...
    1. Oracle Instance를 Shutdown 한다.
    2. OS의 Kernel Configuration File이 있는 곳으로 간다.
    3. System Utility 또는 Editor를 이용해서 필요한 값을 바꾼다.
    System Utility는 다음과 같다
    | OS |     Utility     |
    | HP/UX | SAM     |
    | SCO     |     SYSADMSH |
    | AIX     |     SMIT     |
    | Solaris |     ADMINTOOL |
    4. Kernel 을 Reconfigure 한다.
    5. System을 Reboot 한다.
    6. Oracle Instance를 startup시킨다.
    [ 예제 ] Solaris 2.3/2.4 parameters and commands:
    1. SQLDBA 에서 :
    SQLDBA> shutdown
    SQLDBA> exit
    2. Superuser(root)로 login 하고 :
    # cd /etc
    3. /etc/system file 에 다음을 추가 한다:
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=8388608
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=20
    set semsys:seminfo_semmns=200
    set semsys:seminfo_semmni=70
    4. Kernel을 reconfigure 한다:
    # touch /reconfigure
    5. Machine 을 reboot 한다:
    #init 6
    6. SQLDBA 에서 :
    SQLDBA> startup
    SQLDBA> exit
    Oracle의 init<SID>.ora 파라미터 화일에는 SGA에 영향을 주는
    Parameter들이 있다. OS의 Shared Momory와 Semaphore Parameter에
    연결된 이 Parameter의 setting은 System과 Oracle의 Performance에
    중요한 영향을 미친다.

    <Note:1011658.6>

    system does not seem to using memory correctly, lots of swapping on an 8GB real memory system.We could start (for example) with this question - How big is your SGA or how much of 8GB RAM takes your SGA?
    The doc says to set /etc/system to:
    shmsys:shminfo_shmmax project.max-shm-memory 4294967296
    but infers that this is not used.From documentation:
    In Solaris 10, you are not required to make changes to the /etc/system file to implement the System V IPC. Solaris 10 uses the resource control facility for its implementation. However, Oracle recommends that you set both resource control and /etc/system/ parameters. Operating system parameters not replaced by resource controls continue to affect performance and security on Solaris 10 systems.
    Then, the doc states to set a project shared mem value of 2GB:
    # projmod -sK "project.max-shm-memory=(privileged,2G,deny)" group.dba
    Why is this number different?It's an example how "To set the maximum shared memory size to 2 GB"
    By setting to to 2G as documented oracle did not work at all Docs says:
    On Solaris 10, verify that the kernel parameters shown in the following table are set to values greater than or equal to the recommended value shown.
    If your SGA was greater than 2G I'm nor wondering why "oracle did not work at all".
    So for 4GB SGA (for example) you need allow allocation of 4G of shared memory.
    Note: shmsys:shminfo_shmmax != project.max-shm-memory. "project.max-shm-memory" is replacement of "shmsys:shminfo_shmmax" but function of these parameters differs.
    "project.max-shm-memory resource control limits the total amount of shared memory of one project, whereas previously, the shmsys:shminfo_shmmax parameter limited the size of a single shared memory segment."

  • Shared memory settings from 32 to 64 bit Oracle

    Hello,
    Questions about Oracle and Shared Memory from 32bit to 64bit Oracle
    I have a Sun Sparc V880 server running Solaris 9 with 8xCPUs and 16gb of Ram. It is currently running 6 Oracle (32 bit) 9.2 databases which we are planning to upgrade to 10.2. My question regards the setting of the Solaris 9 kernel parameters speciifically 'shminfo_shmmax'. This is currently set to - 'shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295'which I believe is the maximum amount of shared memory which can be allocated to a 32bit version of Oracle and the one recommended by Oracle.
    Running 'show sga' on all of the current 9.2 databases returns
    Total System Global Area
    DB     SGA(bytes)
    db1     772528008
    db2     789305244
    db3     772528008
    db4     114021228
    db5     791238556
    db6     789305244
    Total = 4045703524 bytes or 3.76786 gb.
    1. Does this mean that each Oracle 32bit database can only use up to a maximum of about 4gb of shared memory or that all 6 together can only use up to 4gb ? resulting in 12gb being available for other (non Oracle) processes.
    2. I have noticed (through 'sar' stats) that the server occasionally pages (non zero values for pgscan/s and pgfree/s etc.). Since the server mostly only runs the Oracle databases, is this because Oracle can only use circa 4gb of Ram before it starts paging ?
    3. If both 9.2 and 10.2 Oracle databases are run on the server would increasing the value of shminfo_shmmax then allow the 10.2 databases to use more of the 16gb of Ram, while still limiting the 32bit databases to the 4gb limit ?
    Any help here would be appreciated

    Pl see if MOS Doc 467960.1 (How Important It Is To Set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax Above 4 GB) and the notes it references can help

    Please see this 'sysresv' output. It returns multiple shared memory IDs for one database (althouth all are 0s except one). Why is this? Does it matter? It seems not eating up memory. Stop and start database didn't help.

  • TREX Shared memory not initialized

    Hi,
           we have installed TREX 7.0 on windows and there is some problem after installation. when we try to start the admin tool with "TREXAdmin.bat" we are getting a mesg like "shared memory not initialized. retry in 5 sec ...disabling shared memory"
           and after few seconds in the same cmd console, we are getting "TREX-nameserver <hostname>:34001 not responding after 1 retries. giving up.".
           feel that the nameserver has some communication problem. can someone please suggest any solution for this ?
      Thanks
       Sourav

    I had the same error and solved it. Here is what I found out:
    the message "shared memory not initialized. retry in 5 sec" is a symptom for a faulty nameserver start
    look at the nameserver traces. If you cannot find anything, increase the trace level to 5. In case of HANA the trace level is called saptracelevel in /hana/shared/SID/exe/linuxx86_64/hdb/config/global.ini
    in case of HANA hdbdaemon starts hdbnameserver. You can find this info in hdbdaemon's traces at tracelevel 5.
    In my case the hdbnameserver could not start because the system was set to be a secondary site with System Replication and it could not communicate with the primary site. The reason was that jumbo frames were enabled on the primary and secondary site, but not on the switches between. So the work-around was to set MTU to 1500 on both sites.
