Global Storage Settings won't retain desired configuration - Help??

Windows 8.1 64bit
IE 11.0.12
Flash 15.0.0.189
When I visit this Link:
Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Global Storage Settings Panel
and I try to set my Global Storage Settings from 100KB to 10MB, it lets me do that, BUT when I reopen the panel I see that it went right back to 100KB.
I need it to be 10MB because I store a lot of stuff. I keep running into issues with 100KB.
I have already tried deleting the Flash Player folder under "%appdata%\Adobe" and "%appdata%\Macromedia" but that did not solve it.
How can I get my Global Storage Settings to go to 10MB and STAY there?
Thanks.

Yeah, this looks like a bug specific to IE on Windows 8 and higher.
I've filed the following bug on your behalf:  Bug#3840386 - [Win8.x] Global Storage Settings control panel doesn't work in IE
As a temporary workaround, you could use Chrome.
Thanks!

  • Global Storage Settings & Update

Firstly, my apologies for the ridiculously long user name. I played the key board in frustration weeks back when registering and haven't been able to change it by updating my Adobe a/c because it won't let me put an address etc that isn't in the US (I'm in Australia).
I've been trying to find an answer to my issue by reading other posts. There seems to be some very similar issues with the latest update for Flash Player but owing to my lack of expertise on the matter I'll outline my specific problem. So, here it is:
I've been locked out of the edit function of my website host account (wix.com) because it requires me to update my Flash Player settings: http://support.wix.com/index.php/Editor_Doesnt_Open
I have downloaded the latest version of Flash half a dozen times now and installed it. Installation always seems to go just fine and no error messages are brought up. The problem is the updated version doesn't seem to have installed itself into any of my web browsers.
The Flash Player Settings Manager (access c/- above link) doesn't even display in Firefox. It does display in Google Chrome (which is up to date & my default browser), IE & Safari.
In order to access the edit function at my web hosting a/c, I need (in Global Storage Settings) to have 100KB on the disc space slider and also the box ticked for "Allow third party flash content..."
The box won't allow itself to be ticked in any of the aforementioned browsers although I can move the slider to 100KB. If, however I exit the page and return later the slider is always back at "None" (I'm not sure if that is normal or not?).
I have AVG anti-virus which I have tried temporarily disabling while installing the update. I have also restarted my computer after installations and so forth but still no luck. Hope someone who has a clue can get back to me. Thanks.

Hi H, I thot maybe that is what happened. Anytime you mention Explorer in the same sentence with Windows, one thinks of Internet Explorer :-) I'm sure many have maybe done that.
Cool, bet you're glad of that!! LOL
I'm not sure what is actually happening when the folders in that location are removed. I can't see how they can be the Flash Folders that the Flash files are located in.
That one person said something about "don't worry, they will just be replaced", remember? I wonder if those folders are holding the Temp folders?
I'll ask Pat when I have time. It would be good to understand it.
    Glad that did it anyway!!!
Thanks for marking your thread as answered also.
FYI  Flash Player has Updated (Security) all platforms; Reader & Acrobat also & Air
FF 4 coming out tonight or tomorrow, IE9 is out, going to be crazy!!
    Thanks,

  • Cannot check Allow Third-Party Content from Global Storage Settings panel.

I cannot check the box that says Allow   Third-Party Content To Store Data On Your Computer in the Global Storage Settings panel. I have seen many other people with this issues but they have either been unresolved or the resolutions to the problems do not work for me.
    I am running
    Windows XP SP2 32bit
    Firefox 3.6.6 32 bit
Can somebody please help me resolve this issue?

When you open Windows Explorer, type %appdata% into the address bar, and it will take you to the location.
On Windows XP this is usually C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data
From there go down to the 'Adobe' and 'Macromedia' folders and delete the 'Flash Player' folder in each.

  • Cannot check boxes in Global Storage Settings

When I go to the Global Storage Settings panel online I am unable to check the box "Allow third party Flash content to store data on your computer"
Because of this I can not use many Websites that require flash. I can use youtube and hulu, but not pandora or tv websites like comedy central.
I have the latest version of Flash, and this happens in any Web browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) that I try. I am on MAC OS X.
    Any help please!

That's interesting. I thought maybe if I trashed the preferences I too could fix my problem--which is the opposite of
yours/hers.   I want to UNCHECK 3rd Party Content Storage, which is greyed out on the Flash Settings Manager
online.  However, with OS X  10.9.3 in neither Library,  the separate one nor in the System file, under "Caches" is there anything for Adobe. However, you, Katie,  don't say which version of OS X you're using.
If clearing your preferences did it for you, it maybe that you had some older preferences in your cache and
deleting them may have put you into the same situation several of us have found ourselves in.
With this latest version of Flash, we're not  able to UNCHECK 3RD PARTY CONTENT STORAGE.
Thus you didn't have to go back to check or enable it for your needs.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are stuck with it or we have to disable flash.
It'a also interesting to note, that under any of the Flash preferences on my computer, where there could/should
be websites listed where I have allowed storage, or whatever, there is NOTHING listed. The same is true for the online
    Flash Player Settings Manager.  ?????

  • Re: Cannot save 'Global Storage Settings' in Flash 10- Win7

    Hi,
I'm having the same issues. I'm using Win7 Home Premium, Firefox 5.0.1 and Flash 10,3,183,5. I experienced problems loading embedded Soundcloud-tracks (ie in Facebook it develops from the square with the play button to the player but after that I couldn't click anything) and various flash driven videos (300: player initialization failed: error: error #2134).
After some time I came to the point where I wanted to change the Global Storage Settings, I headed to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.htm l and tried checking the checkbox but nothing happened. None of my settings are saved as well.
I tried de- and re-installing Flash Player and Firefox in various version-combinations but nothing helped. I tried the %appdata%-hint (in WINDOWS-explorer) but it didn't help. It works on my guest profile that normally isn't in use.
I hope I can reopen the thread, maybe there's help 'cause I'm sick of all that searching.

I have the same problem (except I'm in Windows XP Home, Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3).
I can't tick that box "Allow third party flash content..." or keep that slider where I want it (100KB) as it is always back at "None" if I exit the broswer and return to those settings.
I have been referred from this thread:http://forums.adobe.com/message/3559075#3559075
Okay, I'm just updating my post. My Global Storage Settings are now working. Yes!
I did what was said (%appdata%\Adobe, etc) in Windows Explorer this time instead of Windows Internet Explorer (dah!) and it's all good. Maybe the person who started this thread made the same mistake? If so, Windows Explorer is accessible from, Start > All Programs > Accessories

  • Cannot save 'Global Storage Settings' in Flash 10- Win7

I am having a rough time with flash at the moment. I am using Windows 7, Google Chrome, and Flash 10.
Lately, half of the videos and games I try to use are not working. I was advised that it was because the website could not save to my computer, but when I try to select "Allow third party flash content to store data on your computer", it does not let me even fill in the checkbox.
I even attempted to uninstall and reinstall flash, but it is unsuccessful. So.. how can I fix this? If someone could sort of walk me through it (I have no idea about some of these advanced solutions I've seen), I'd be very grateful.

  • Global Storage Settings Issue

    Well, I'm stumped...
I have the newest flash player installed, however I can't use several applications because I'm unable to check the "Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer" box. I can move the slider to increase the cache size, but when I switch tabs it resets. The arrow changes to a hand when I mouse over the box, but when I click it does nothing.
I'm using Internet Explorer on Windows 7 x64.
    Thanks!

I am having this same issue. but i use firefox. the addons and plugins are all there. but i cant check the boxes in the global storage settings panel at all. the slider works though..but resets when i change a tab.
these are the files in my flash folder [C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash]
    Flash10i.ocx
    FlashInstall.txt
    flashplayer.xpt
    FlashUtili10i_ActiveX.dll
    FlashUtili10i_ActiveX
    FlashUtili10k_Plugin
    install.txt
    NPSWF32.dll
I am running windows 7 home premium 64-bit
    Flash Player version: 10,1,85,3
borswer: Firefox/3.6.10 [not sure how to check if its 32 or 64-bit]

  • Global Storage Settings Panel Options Greyed Out

    • Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit (brand new installation, all updates installed)
    • Mozilla Firefox 4.1
    • Adobe Shockwave Flash 10.2.159.1
Some websites with Flash content (such as YouTube) work perfectly fine - however on others (such as Nostalgia Critic), the Flash content will load (I can access the right-click menu) but will not play/show.
I have narrowed the cause down to the Flash Player not remembering any changes I make to the Global Settings Manager. The Allow third-party Flash content to store date on your computer check-box is greyed out and I cannot select it.
Reading through all related forum threads I could find (both here and across the 'net), it has been repeatedly stated that the best solution is to delete the %APPDATA%\Adobe and %APPDATA%\Macromedia folders, however neither currently exists in my %APPDATA% folder.
I am completely stumped! It shouldn't be all that difficult to get this working, should it?

You're correct Willener, it was past midnight when I wrote my original post so I wasn't too specific in regards to the Adobe and Macromedia folders.
One of the first things I checked was to make sure that the SYSTEM account had full permissions to the %APPDATA% folder and I should state that this problem persisted across multiple Windows 7 Ultimate installation attempts (5 in total, across seperate three system drives).
I've tried everything I can think of, the latest of which was (temporarily) installing my work's copy of Adobe Creative Suite 5 in the vain hope that the Flash component of that would 'fix' my lack of Adobe\Flash and Macromedia\Flash folders.
Other applications have not had any issue creating folders in %APPDATA%, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and imgBurn - so I was completely lost.
In utter desperation, I copied my partner's Adobe\Flash and Macromedia\Flash folders from her PC (which was installed with the same Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 disc (and a seperate TechNet key)) a month ago and voilà - problem solved!
I have no idea why that worked, but it did (as a future reference for anyone who's encountered the same issue as I have).

  • How do i save my Global Storage Settings panel?

As the title says how do i save it when i am changing it? I can no longer watch steams at all the screen is a pinkish color.

The settings are automatically saved when you change anything.
If you have problems with settings, please specify your operating system & version.
See if this helps if you are on Windows: Unable to set Flash Player Settings (Windows)

  • Global storage settings.

My Flash player is desable.  I go to settings manager and I try to click on "allow a third-party flash content to store content on your computer" and I cank click.  even when I move the setting to 100kb or higher.  Any Ideas why?  I have instaslled the lates downloads but still does not work.

If you have a firewall, check to see if flash and active x content is allowed to run, or create an exception for it in the firewall security settings, check your advanced internet options also.

  • Global Storage settings frustration

So for a long time now I have been having issue with Flash player. In the GSS I can NOT get it to check either Allow 3rd party, or Store content. It is really frustrating because I can't go to web sites I really need to for my business, to listen to music, or view a video. Also It doesn't alow me to view some of my own web site applications (including during building it in DW). I usually have to try a couple things to find one that my FLash Player will work on. I get tons of errors of needing to allow 3rd party weely. I have been trying for a long time to get it to work, and I am getting ticked. This is as bad for me as if Acrobat reader would stop reading!
I am on  Vista ,I use both FF and IE8 though not as often as FF. Everything is current, drivers etc., and up to date, ie flash10.1. The other thing i noticed is that in my Plugins on FF it does not show flash, even though I have installed it multiple times now. Any Ideas?
Oh, and I have ESET Business security, allong with Malwarebytes. I have run scan after scan and I am clean. I defrag once a week, and use CC cleaner to clean my cache registry and browsers. The computer runs silent and fast in all areas except.......FLASH.....

Hi, I understand how frustrating it can be when something is not working correctly. I would like you to test here at the following site:
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Use IE to test and then FF. Let me know if you can see the animation and it will also show you which version of Flash Player you have Installed.
When you post back, let me know if you are using a 64bit operating system or 32 bit. I would like you to check your Flash folder just to make sure the Flash files are Installed correctly. Sometimes an old file may not have been removed.
You can also go to Tools, Manage add ons, Toolbars & Extensions (with IE) and find "Show". Look in all add ons for Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it is Enabled.
Using FF, find in the plugins, the SWF vs 10.1.82.76 and make sure it is Enabled. I know you said you looked and flash was not there but look again just to be sure.
Once we confirm that Flash Player is Installed correctly, then we'll address the 3rd party content issue.
    Thanks,
    eidnolb

  • HT201210 Updated my 5c to 8.1.2 and now the 1 in the settings won't go away. Help

I updated my 5c to 8.1.2 and now the number 1 won't clear from the Settings. It's clear from the general in settings but not on the settings app from the home screen. Please help.

    I don't understand.
The "1" is saved in your backup?  But there is no backup involved in a reset.
Are you saying you tried the reset and then you tried a restore from a backup, and neither of those solved the issue?
If so, check Settings > General > About > Software Update again and double check that you actually have iOS 8.1.2 on your iPhone.

  • Web Storage Settings Ubuntu

I am using Ubuntu version 9.10 and flash player version 10.1.  I am having the same problem as the windows users with my global storage settings, in that it is not letting me change them, and when I change the panel it goes back, and everything else on that panel doesn't give me a response either.  I can't find whether I'm using a x32 or x64 operating system, but I was wondering if you could help me.

On Windows this problem can be fixed by deleting the folders where these settings are kept, i.e. the 'Flash Player' folders in %APPDATA%\Adobe and %APPDATA\Macromedia.
I don't know where these settings are kept on Linux; maybe you can find this information in http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide.html

Is there a way to get this back to default setting?

  • Can some companies can go around the flash global/website storage settings?

    Hi,
I've experienced this a few times: I've been visiting a website and a Lysol or Spray and Wash ad appears in a flash window and starts to play. I've noticed that it really slows down my older computer, and check (each time) the global and website storage settings on the Adobe site.
What I've see is that it's:
    - from "TV2N"; when I click on it it goes to the website http://www.jdproject.com/
    - when I click on settings I see that the flash settings allow 10K to be stored locally on my computer by "m1.2mdn.net"
I've attached two *.jpegs as evidence of what I'm talking about.
I find this very strange since I've adjusted both my global/website settings to not allow any information to be stored on my computer. So my question is: are some companies going around a users global/website storage settings for the flash player?
Thanks for your time and help.
    Kevin

Does anyone know? Additionally, any insight into how I can get companies to NOT ignore my personal settings would be good.
