Global Variant in Analyser

Dear Experts,
I want to create a global variant in Query Analyser , as I already created some Query Variants through RSRT but able to see all those variants in Available Variants Option in Analyser. How can I see all those variants in Analyser??
Please suggest.

No, it does not show me any such variant in analyser that i created in RSRT , & secondally I know that I can create the variant directly in analyser using query's selection screen but that variant is not displayed to other user id & I want that user will be able to see those variants that I create on my ID.

if i create a variant for execute a query in BI 7.0 with flag for user the system work, while I create a global variant I have problem with the authorization. There are specifics authorizations object for the creation of variant global or are necessaries particular objects.

Hi Domenico,
If its authorization problem, try and consult your Basis team. Specify them for which transaction (or) rather for which objects you are having the authorization issues. I guess they should help U with it.

Global Variant for Query

I am on BI7.
In Query Designer, I have created a Variable for each of the Characteristic on my query.
when I run the query, I can now enter the parameter for each of this Characteristic and Save it as Variant.
When I run the query again, I can select this Variant. No problem, working fine.
However, when my colleague run this query, he/she can't see this variant.
How can we create Global Variant so that all user can use it?
Please help, thank you.

You need to go to RSRT to create your variant (click 'Query Variants' then the Create button, enter name and description, then enter the selection criteria, then Save)
Then all users can see this variant, along with their own local ones.

What's with this Global Tracks: Chord Analysis/Transposition bug?????

Hi.
In the midst of a fairly complex piece I allowed my mind to wander and thought i'd see what the Global Tracks Chords analysis would make of my piece.... Interesting.
It wasn't till later when trying to copy regions either vertically or horizontally that I discovered I had a MAJOR problem!!
At the suggestion of other threads I checked my Global Tracks Transposition track and sure enough it was a mass of squiggles - directly related to the chord analysis.
Apparently this is a bug, but I have been unable to find any ways to remedy the situation except to unravel the song back to that dreaded moment of idle curiosity!
If anyone has some ideas to help I'd be very grateful!!!!! Many thanks!

Global Variants- can you restrict them?

I know that in finance you can control who has access to global variants by an authorization object. However, with the rest of the modules (mainly PM, MM) how do you restrict the global variants so they can not be edited?

Perhaps you would like to post your solution, so that others who use the search can benefit from it.
(please use a few technical terms like the objects and PIDs to help the search..)
I have a faint suspect that a rather lively discussion around the topic cannot be excluded...

Global Variant in BexAnalyzer

I have created one variant for a workbook. But its available only for the user who has created this, just like a local variant. Now if I login through another userid and password I am not able to see that variant.
Is there any way to create a Global Variant, So that all the users can use that.

If the u2018Save As User Variantu2019 is checked, the variant can be displayed only by the user who created it. If it is unchecked, the variant is saved as a global variant and is available to all users who use the query.

Unable to create global variant for BEx query

Good Day BI Experts.
I would like to be able to provide some of my power users with the ability to create global variants to BEx queries executed using Analyzer. When they try to save a global variant now, they receive the message "You are not authorized to create variant name". Is there a generic role that can be assigned to the user for this? Or perhaps a PFCG setting to an existing role? I'm rather new at this, so details would be appreciated.

Hi.
Your users need to have create and change access for auth object S_RS_PARAM to create variants.
You can enforce a naming convention by maintaining the values of "tech name of variant" like Z*, according to your needs.

If you have a general role for report users, add the auth object to that one in PFCG if it's not already there. In the latter case, you might have to change the values, to let your users maitain things...

What is typical for amount of users that create global variants

hello all,
what is everyone's experience in how many users they give authorization to create global variants? I'm assuming if to many people the variant list can become quite big.
just thoughts on experience would be nice. thanks

In our case, specific power users have been identified and they are the only one's outside of the BW development team that have the capability of creating global variants. These power users typically create global variants that correspond to authorizations in BW. For example, 0PLANT is an authorization-relevant Characteristic. People associated to one plant can't see another plant, but Finance can see all plants. So, the power user would create the global variants as one for each plant. Finance people leave this wide open (if not mandatory).
We have ~5K report users and there are <30 power users if that helps with a percentage.

SAP GRC 10.0 - Risk Analysis - Define global variant

We are implementing SAP GRC 10.0 and we have a question about variant management in Access Risk Analysis.
When we saved a variant, it seems that this variant is user specific.
Is it to possible to define this variant as default for all users?

Hi,
I think this is still user-specific, as it was in 5.X. I have checked the new GRC authorisation object parameters delivered within the roles and also tried to see if a Admin user was able to see all the variants created by the different users, but so far I have not found a solution.
It may be worthwhile to raise this in "IdeaPlace", hoping it gets enough votes and SAP's attention for implementing in a future Support Pack delivery.

Hi,
You can create a bew variable in table RSZGLOBV. Also all variables used in BW Queries are global, i.e. not tied to any InfoProvider. You can use a variable created for a query on Cube A, in a query on cube B. The variables are attached to the InfoObjects (Char variables). There are other variables like formula variables which may not be attached to an InfoObject.to look the table use SE16

In Analysis for Excel, is there a way to see another user's variants?

As an admin, I want to change them from User variants to Global, without giving them access to create Global variants.
Analysis for Excel version 1.3.6.2342, BI 4.0.

Are you using this will an LMS? Captivate does this by default for me using SUM TOTAL, and SCORM reporting. I know that threre are options both in captivate and the LMS to not capture resume data, but barring setting those it happens automatically with Scorm 1.2

answering to your question I´ll give you this steps:
1. Go to transaction 'SCI', make a copy of global DEFAULT variant and give other name, like DEFAULT_AISHI;
2. Make your changes, setting all the flags your need at the categories;
3. Go to transaction 'SE16', at the table 'SCICHKV_ALTER', set the item DEFAULT flag and click on EDIT BUTTON.
4. Change the field 'CHECKVNAME_NEW', 'RESPONSIBL', 'CREADATE' and clik on SAVE BUTTON.

Creating a global layout in CO03

Hi Expert,
Can anyone tell me what authorizations/Parameter IDs are required to create a global variant in transaction CO03 -> goto Costs -> Analysis ? I can create and save a layout that is user-specific, but I cannot make it global. Any ideas?
I already using user profile SAP_ALL & SAP_NEW.

Problem in transporting Variants - "You cant transport client-specific obj"

I am facing a problem while trying to transport variant from DEV to QAS.
When I tried to transport one of the variants (of a program) from DEV to QAS (quality system), it gave me an error that: "You cannot transport client-specific objects".

The program is Not a local object. I am trying to assign the variant to a transport via. SE38->variant->display->utilities->transport request-> request number.
Is there a way to modify this variant from client specific to "non-client-specific".
Also, please let me know hoe do we copy this variant into a new variant which is not client specific (i.e. a global variant).
