Globalization question (aghhhhhhhhh) 1.101, 2.101 ,,,

Our base app is 100 and language is CROATIAN and we set to translated application 101 language english.
We have made translatation according all 6 steps to "How to Translate" page in application.
How can we call english app from base app. Our URL of base app is:
h**p://server:port/pls/htmldb/f?p=100:1so we made 101 app to be english app.
When we tried:
h**p://server:port/pls/htmldb/f?p=101:1we get an error:
ORA-0000: normal, successful completion
     Error      Unable to fetch authentication_scheme in application 101.
OK           Out authentification type is HTMLDB_PUBLIC!
What is bothering us that there is nowhere 101 shown.
We found out that authentification scheme was deleted!!! No one from us has done that but Appex itself! Guys check this out!
After recreating to public we now get this error!:
Contact your application administrator.
     Error      ERR-1016 Application "101" Page "1" not found (requested language="en")
OK      So I dicovered that in 101 app are 1.101, 2.101 and "APP_PAGE_ID.101" pages.
Is that normal-how to get normal numbers?

Second...with page_id change, any page reference doesn't work!!!!
If link is referensing page (f?p=APP_ID:PAGE_ID, f?p=100:2) now it is referencing page that doesn't exist (f?p=101:2) but "2.101" exist...
Could you please give atention on my pic and page_id's (Globalization problem page "1.APP_ID", "2.APP_ID"
How could I referenced that second app from my first app..I'm totally confused?

Lion server users on that Mac or the network?

This question is so 101 I'm almost afraid to ask it: when you create users in the Lion server software, are these users for that specfic Mac (just like any Mac user) or are they user on the network who will share the server services?
I can't get past this fundamental set up. I only want one user to admin the server software, but I have 5 users of other macs in our office who I want to be able to use the server services, like email and wiki.
How do I set them up?

Look in the Server App, if the users there have a small blue globe on them then they are Network Users. If they don't have the globe then you aren't serving an Open Directory Master.
Follow the advice in the Next Steps panel in the lower part of the Server App.

Mac101 (German?); Hands on Finder Intro;

Hello,
my mother in law (60+) plans for a computer her first at all. Is there a Mac101 out in German language? And if possible a printable version too?
Good old dead old OS7 Mac was shipped with a nice intro for the very first steps to use the finder ("what is a window?") which was more a practical lesson how to use your finder. Anything like this for OSX (and maybe in German?)
(Would be great to have the (i)Mac OSX interface as simple as the iPhone and with with a touch screen.)

Automatic assignments of accounts were missed(ao90)

Hi All,
Can you please guide me how to assign automatic assignment of accounts which are configured in AO90..
the error is 700 assets were desposed in one invoice
where customer is debited
and 700 assets were credited with same GL account as a machinary account
and VAT is also applied
after posting into f-92 while saving there were errors occured like reset business area in line item 711
infaact that the business area for the particular asset is coreect still it asking me to reset then i entered thrice times fortunately the document posted with vat applicable.everything is correct but unfortunate thing is that automatic accounts were not picked up.
so assets were not deactivated
as well as
gain or loss account and accumulated depreciationn and assets account were not posted.
please guide us without reversing that document can we do anything to post that automatic accounts to that document

On your 1st question .The document type you want to generated on auto PO can be changed by selecting the default document per Transaction.For this go to
MM-Purchasing-Define default values for document types.Here against the T code MB1A assign the desired document type.This will be taken for generation of the auto PO.
On your 2nd question ,I am afraid the auto PO functionality requires items having material master.
On your 3rd question in MIGO 101 there is no provision of account asignment .

Automatic generation of HU during Kit To Order EWM process, using VAS order

Hi,
Please help me with this process:
My customer keeps components in stock in various HUs, lets say of 50 pieces each.
When a customer orders 20 kits, where each kit is composed of product A + B, the need is to generate 20 HU, each of one containing the kit.
I tried the Kit to order standard process in EWM, using VAS order.
I succeeded to bring components A and B into a Pick-HU to the VAS work centre. The pick HU contains the POSC (step kitting).
We also defined a packing specification where layout Kit is kitting relevant and second layout should generate the HU.
Unfortunately the EWM "sees" the products already packed and doesn't create new HU.
If I use the same process without pick-HU, POSC is not activated and newer less new HU are not generated.
Any suggestion is welcome.

XML interface between 8.05 and 8i

Hi all,
I am kinda new to the world of XML. So bear with me if my questions are too simplistic.I am planning to write an interface between Oracle HR(8.05) and a third party application that resides on 8i. Basically, the Employee data is selected from 8.05 tables and comapred to the tables in 8i. If any employee do not exist in 8i, they need to be "inserted". Else they are assumed to be candidates for "update". This is the logic and it can be very easily programmed using PL/SQL stored procedure. The question is how to do this using XML? I guess you can classify this question as XML 101.
What is my starting point?
What needs to be installed on 8.05? XSU?
Is there a step by step installation instruction somewhere?
Is XSU and other needed tools compatible w/ 8.05?
Are there any sample XML codes for this type of interface?

High Airport card temperature

After installing SL my airport card temperature has been running around 153 according to my iStat Pro. This has caused my fan to run 6200rpms and it is really loud. If I turn airport off, everything returns to normal levels. However, this is not a good long-term solution because I need to run airport frequently. Any suggestions as to how to fix my problem? Has anyone else had this problem?

Some questions about 1616, 100 and 101

Hello, I am looking for a phone, and I've reduced to these 3 models, since I want a phone that principally:
*The battery last much (1 week would be ok)
*Don't have Internet access
Ok, but there are some questions, very specific questions in fact, that I haven't resolved, and I was asking me if you coudl help me!
*I've read that Nokia 1616 has a "memo voice recorder" so you could set a record for the ringtone.
Although some people says thats not possible....its sure is possible?
* Can the Nokia 101 record a call? I guess the others can't because no microSD.
*And last, if its possible in any of these set up automatic change of profiles, based on time.
I mean just, for example: default tone -> General ---- But when is between 11 AM to 16 PM, switch to Silence.
I think those are 3 really useful "basic" features, but ironically any or very few "basic phones" incorporate them....
Also, if you think other model of phone that could do better for my expectatives (at the same range of price) is ok.

Satellite L20-101: Question about memory modules mixing PC2-4300 and PC2-4200

I have Toshiba Satellite L20-101. It has onboard 512MB RAM (PC2-4300). Today I added another RAM module but this new module is PC2-4200. Is there anything wrong doing this? Both modules are DDR2 and 533MHz and 512MB.

Hi Pawel,
In principle there is no problem with mixing RAM modules of slightly different types but normally the total RAM will only run at the speed of the slower module. If your notebook recognises the correct amount of RAM from both sticks then there will ne no problem.

I read a little on the in and out parameters and that IN is "by reference" and OUT and IN-OUT are by value. To me "by reference" means "pointer" as in C programming. So it seems to me that I could call a function with an IN parameter and NOT put it on the right side of an assignment statement. In other words, I'm calling my function
get_something(IN p_test1 varchar2) return varchar2;
from SP1 which has a variable named V_TEST1.
So.... can I do this? (method A):
get_something(V_TEST1);
or do I have to do this (method B):
V_TEST1 := get_something(V_TEST1);
Also, although this may muddy the thread (we'll see), it seems to me that IN, since its by reference, will always be more efficient. I will have many concurrent users using this program: should this affect my thinking on the above question?

Some questions may be hare brained just because I'm freaking out a little bit.
Situation (Long Version):<< Writing a pl/sql backend to MS Reporting Services front end. Just started doing pl/sql about 2 months ago. Took me forever to find out about ref-cursor as the pipe between oracle and all client applications. I have now created a package. I've been programming for 20 years in many languages, but brand new to pl/sql. However, pl/sql sql has freed me from myriad of limitations in MS RS's. My program is starting to get big (for me -- I do a lot in a little) pks is currently 900 lines with 15 functions so far. Currently SP (pls) is back up to 800 lines. I get stuff working in the sp then turn it into a function and move it to the package.
What does application do?:<<<< Back End for MS Reporting Services Web front end. It will be a very controlled "ad-hoc" (or the illusion of ad-hoc) web interface. All sql queries are built at run-time and executed via "open ref cusor for -- sql statement -- end;" data returned via OUT ref_cursor. Goal is to have almost 100% of functionality in a package. Calling SP will be minimalist. Reporting Services calls the SP, passes X number of parameters, and gets the ref_cursor back.
Oracle Version: 10.2 (moving to 11g in the next 3 months).Environment: Huge DW in a massively shared environment. Everything is locked down and requires a formal request. I had to have my authenticated for a couple dbms system packages just to starting simple pl/sql programs.

Context switches to the SQL engine can be minimised using bulk processing. Etc.
Much of the performance will however come down to 2 basic issues. How well the data structures being processed are designed. How well the code itself is modularised and written.

DW:101 Question - Site folder and file naming - best practices

OK - My 1st post! I’m new to DW and fairly new to developing websites (have done a couple in FrontPage and a couple in SiteGrinder), Although not new at all to technical concepts building PCs, figuring out etc.
For websites, I know I have a lot to learn and I'll do my best to look for answers, RTFM and all that before I post. I even purchased a few months of access to lynda.com for technical reference.
So no more introduction. I did some research (and I kind of already knew) that for file names and folder names: no spaces, just dashes or underscores, don’t start with a number, keep the names short, so special characters.
I’ve noticed in some of the example sites in the training I’m looking at that some folders start with an underscore and some don’t. And some start with a capital letter and some don’t.
So the question is - what is the best practice for naming files – and especially folders. And that’s the best way to organize the files in the folders? For example, all the .css files in a folder called ‘css’ or ‘_css’.
While I’m asking, are there any other things along the lines of just starting out I should be looking at? (If this is way to general a question, I understand).

By the way I built this site from a template – (modified quite a bit) in 2004 with FrontPage. I know it needs a re-design but I have to say, we get about 80% of our video conversion business from this site.

So the question is - what is the best practice for naming files – and especially folders. And that’s the best way to organize the files in the folders? For example, all the .css files in a folder called ‘css’ or ‘_css’.
For me, best practice is always the nomenclature and structure that makes most sense to you, your way of thinking and your workflow.
Logical and hierarchical always helps me.
Beyond that:
Some seem to use _css rather than css because (I guess) those file/folder names rise to the top in an alphabetical sort. Or perhaos they're used to that from a programming environment.
Some use CamelCase, some use all lowercase or special_characters to separate words.
Some work with CMSes or in team environments which have agreed schemes.

EDL Exporting and Importing 101 - Questions

We are testing Premiere's EDL exporting and importing capabilities for the first time, and are having issues. We set up a very simple test project with only 13 clips and a timeline with only 10 edits. This is what it looks like:

We then exported an EDL, started a new Premiere project, and imported the EDL that we had created. It looks like this:

In the bin, Premiere has now turned our 13 clips into 41. There are a lot of duplicates, some of them appear to be audio files, even though they're still listed as .mxf, and the start and end times are all over the place. Our two questions are: Why is it making all of these clips? And how do you link the media? We started linking some media manually, but because the start and end times are scrambled, the edits appear completely wrong in the sequence that we've created.

There are a variety of options offered when exporting an EDL.
These options need to be considered in conjunction with how the Sequence (audio/video layers) are set up. (managed for the edl export)
Source footage management is vital in any EDL workflow and even more so when digital clip based ( as opposed to tape based linear assets). ie. Digital clips have "unusual" filenames and are buried deep in folder structures. Filenames can be duplicated in a card to cards system. (mxf would be an exception)
The EDL is usually used between systems.
In your case you are testing on the same system and assumeably the source footage resides there as well. This is a case for managing the "source" so as the links work.
Example. When I take footage to a Resolve Suite out of house. I set up all the source footage on an transfer drive in the same manner ( filenames, folder names etc) as the original local drive .

General JAR Questions 101

I just completed my first ever app using the Netbeans IDE 3.6 w / sdk 1.4.2_04
My GUI app has a main class name of : "AddRFSwitchMain" residing in a package named "AddRFSwitchPac" all in a project folder named "OW_A"
My app requires the resources of an external multi -container "OneWireAPI" jar file.
My app also makes use of the timer bean that came already residing in the netbeans IDE bean palette.
All of the GUI code was constructed by using the GUI form builder tool including the timer bean56.
Question:
(1) To run my app outside of the IDE, I created a "jar file recipe" named "OWProject" This OWProject recipe then becomes my "compiled jar" named "ProjectOW" and runs fine when mounted "inside" the IDE . It looks to me like my "ProjectOW.jar" only makes "file location references" to the needed external "OneWireAPI.jar" I thought that my jar file would contain the "actual files" of the needed "external files" inside my jar .... is this not true? ..... as it stands, to run my app as a stand alone on another computer , with an installed "jre" , I would need to also include the "OneWireAPI".jar also to be installed on a computer running my app.

How about something like this:

     - MyApp.jar (the main jar)
     \bin\    (folder)
          - Other Jar needed for execution of the programThen in your main jar's manifest, include "bin/OtherJar.jar".
So the second jar will be packaged separately, away in a folder that clearly states what it contains.
All the user would have to do is to execute the main jar. this is the only file they would have to see, from an
execution perspective.
Question:
(2) As my app now stands in the netbeans IDE , my app
"imports" these required external files from thier
respective locations "mounted" in my IDE. ... When I
move these external files to my "Package folder" ..I
must now go back into my app and change any location
reference (import statements, etc) to reflect this
move ... correct?I don't think so: as long as your classpath (got from the manifest of the jar) includes the new locations of
these external files.
I think NetBeans works like this: a 'mounted' directory or file is included in the classpath.
ie. when you click 'Compile', NetBeans passes a command to javac, specifying a few different parameters,
and including in the classpath all the mounted files and directories (looks something like:
"javac -classpath .;C:\Programming\Java;C:\Java\ThirdParty\OneWire; etc.", where those directories
specified in the '-classpath' parameter are the mounted directories)
So when you move your app out of NetBeans, all you need to do is to ensure that the required files are
included in the classpath. If you're still working on your app in an editor, you'll need to tell the editor what to
include in the classpath (that's how IDEs make your life easier*).
If you are packaging your app as a jar file, you will need to specify (in relative locations) where your
required files will be located.
Your actual code should not need to be modified.

Dpexp 101 (question on exporting 3 schemas)

Scenario: Exporting 3 schemas from staging to dev. I am a beginner DBA and want to verify my steps. Please don't flame me or give me the "let a real dba do this". You all started somewhere too.
So, I have used datapump before, but the concern I have in this case is making sure I have all of the dependencies, and so forth taken into consideration, so I can provide the users with the definitive "its done, you can use the schemas now".
Example of what I am going to do:
$expdp scott/tiger DIRECTORY=data_pump_dir DUMPFILE=scott_schema.dmp
SCHEMAS=SCOTT,HR,ALI
My questions are these.
1. The schemas (old versions) already exist in dev, so I am going to need to remove/truncate/whatever those schemas and dependencies (except for dblinks, I'll keep those inplace so I don't have to worry about passwords, etc... and I'll use IGNORE=Y on import). How would you guys go about removing the current schemas?
2. Exporting these three schemas - anything you guys look for? Any gotchas or obvious issues/configurations I need to take into consideration?

I don't think so.
If you just set the SCHEMAS parameter you'll get all the object belonging to it.
But if you set the INCLUDE parameter you'll have just the objects specified by the INCLUDE.
More over, with INCLUDE you can specify the TYPE of object.
For instance the following will select all the function:
INCLUDE=FUNCTIONSo, if for instance you want all the objects of a Schema just set this:
SCHEMAS=<schema>All its Packages (and only its Package):
SCHEMAS=<schema>
