Globe Displays on Start Up

I recently tried to install Leopard on my MacBook; my only option was to Erase and Install and I really didn't want to do that. So I looked in the support section and found this is a common problem. I tried using disk utility while using the leopard install DVD still as my startup disc. It did not work so I did what they said next and quit disc utility and tried start up again from my hard drive. It was taking forever so I just shut down and tried to start up again. Now whenever I try to start up a flashing globe displays on start up for awhile on the blue screen, eventually it will load. I do not know what this means and I would like to figure out why this is happening before I try installing Leopard again. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Clay...welcome.
What that means is your MacBook is trying to startup to a network volume that's not even there. When you do have it booted up go to System Preferences->Startup Disk and select the OSX volume not the globe.
I had trouble upgrading to Leopard but I did and Archive & Install (after a few failed attempts at upgrading) and it worked fine. It still keeps your system as it was (basically like an upgrade) so it's pretty painless.

Satellite A100 - black display at start-up

Since two days my Toshiba A100-495 laptop / model-no. PSAA9E-18F047GR / serial-no. Y6065357Q with Windows XP SP3 shows a black display at start-up. There is even no Windows start picture.
The laptop does all the booting, but after finishing and being ready for use, the display is still black. When I am pressing Fn + F5 keys, the desktop appears.
The black screen is only at cold start-up after shut-down, not at awakening from stand-by or pause.

I have connected an external monitor (power ON) to the shut-down notebook, then started the notebook.
There was nothing to see neither on notebook monitor nor on external monitor black screen as before. After the booting was done, the desktop appears after pressing Fn+F5 for about three seconds.
I have not jet tried to change BIOS settings because there is no Toshiba splash screen on start-up. I am afraid I can not see what is going on or what I have to choose after accessing BIOS without display signs.

Why does a flashing world globe appear during start-up process?

In recent months my MacBook Pro has decided not to start up in the usual way. Now, when I am starting up a blank white screen appears for 55 sec, then a flashing world globe appears for 65 sec before the Apple logo appears. The machine is ready to go after a further 75 sec. Does any one know why this flashing world globe has suddenly come into my life - never seen it before?

System Preferences>Startup Disk - Select your OS hard drive and lock the padlock. Restart your computer. Still seeing the flashing world globe?
BTW: The flashing world globe is a network startup disk.

No workflow displayed to start in T.Code ME23n

Error on Display when Starting Up After Ejecting a Cable in Thunderbolt Port

Hi there, there's been a problem in my macbook since its been ejected from a thunderbolt cable. It was using this port for connecting the macbook with a TV. The first time i used it, it was fine. After the third or fourth time i've used it, when i start up my macbook, the display was still the same display as when it was connected with the tv, then a cracked display came for a split second and changed to the usual display with the sign in screen. I thought when i restart it, it would go back to normal, however it keeps happening every time i tried to start it up. Help please.

No Workflow displayed to start in TCode FMX3 and FMZ3 (in Object Links)

God morning
When I enter in transaction FMX3 or FMZ3 and select the menu option u201CEnvironment->Object Links, the system displays an small window in which I can choice different options for the Workflow related to this Object like Workflow Overview or Archived Workflows and Start Workflow, the first two ones works fine, but the last option (Start Workflow) doesnu2019t get any workflow to be selected; right now I have implement a custom workflow which is working fin with no problems, but at least, this Workflow should be shoed up on this new window to be start from here.
The popup displayed when I select the option to start Workflow is empty, no workflows displayed.

Did your problem get fixed via the Cinderella Effect?
Are you sure you have met the criteria described in the OSS Note?
The following criteria must be fulfilled for a workflow to be offered for selection:
* You must be one of the
* possible agents of the workflow. An import element of the workflow container must be defined with a reference to the object type that is defined as the basis for the selection (see above). When the workflow is started, this element is assigned the object reference.
If the workflow contains mandatory import elements that do not refer to the reference object type found above, it is not suitable and is not offered for selection.

How to resove the "smart hard disk error" problem occured message displayed while starting up?

My HP laptop showing me a "Smart Hard disk Error" while starting up the computer when I press power button on.
The message displayed on black screen is as below:

I already did the Hard disk self test and it showed all the test were passed.

There are 2 ways of running a test on your hard drive . One way is through BIOS (F10) and other is through HP System diagnostics(F2). How exactly was test initiated from your end ?
The SMART imminent failure for Hard drive is an indication that your Hard drive is on verge of failure or might fail anytime depending on usage. I would recommend you to backup your files immediately because your hard drive might die at any moment and I'm pretty sure its needs to be replaced.
Kindly check the instructions over here in order to run the test for your hard drive

Macbook slow to start-up and displays unusual start-up screen

Hey everyone,
For the last week or so my Macbook has been behaving strangely when I start it up from sleep: it displays the screen you would normally get after your battery has fully emptied and you have just powered up your computer again (I'm not 100% sure if that makes total sense..it's the screen with the white bars on the bottom that slowly fill up before it takes you to your login screen) This only happens when my Macbook has run out of charge and automatically goes to sleep and then I plug it in and power it up again, which is why I'm concerned because my computer is plugged in when this happens + the battery is fully charged. Also, the computer is very slow to start up and takes about a minute before I can properly log in (the screen freezes, sometimes it goes black for a couple of seconds and then it goes back to normal) and finally the computer seems to be a bit laggy at times and slower than usual. I have already verified my disk and repaired all the errors that came up (using Disk Utility), and this doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.
I am very confused and cannot figure out why this is happening; I've bought my Macbook only a year ago and I always take exceptional care of it. Has anyone else come across this problem before? If anyone could provide any input or help me figure out the cause, I would greatly appreciate it.

Linc - Thank you so much for your response, at least I now understand what is causing this problem. I'm wondering if you know of a way to stop the computer from going into safe sleep (i.e turn this feature off) while it is plugged into AC power? This has never happened in the last 12 months that I've owned my Macbook and now I'm confused as to why this suddenly changed.

Strange Coding Display when starting up!!

Hi, is there anyone who has an idea about this display? The situation is that every time i start my laptop or turn it off, this coding display would show up. The pic is just a part of it. It seems to be the laptop is scaning the disc or something. It is really annoying and I am worried about whether there is something wrong with the logic board or something. Rolling on the floor to beg for help~~~~

aha, I see it
it is -v option in boot parameters. Used some twikery application like Onyx or other? For cleaning caches etc?
If so - run it again and search for "verbose boot" option and disable it.
If not used such things - somebody did a joke on you.
Tell if so and I'll post instruction how to disable it

Late 2013 MacBook Pro: Display coating starts to be worn off, replacement available?

Display was only cleaned with water + soft cloth (same as for eyewear). Bought 13 month ago in germany where we have a 24month replacement on all tech. devices. So would there be a possibility to fix the display? What should be the next step? Visiting a store?
But i'm also wondering how this coating can start to remove itself from the glass... No harm ever made to the display, always stored in bag, always stored with apple micro-fiber cloth between keys and display.

Distorted display upon start up

I have an early 2014 macbook air 2014 model running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
I have this strange distortion of display whenever my macbook boots up. You see the loading bar just right below the apple logo when booting? During this time my screen gets distorted. At first Apple told me it's a hardware issue and they have changed my logic board. After the repair I still have the same problem. Now they are saying that it's an expected issue and there's no fix or solution for that.
Is there any one else having the same problem as mine?

Safari 5.1 under Lion. Homepage not displayed when starting

I use safari 5.1 under Lion. In preferences i put a homepage, but when I start Safari it never display this one but always the last url when I closed.
