Glossary Plural and Abbreviations not Recognized

I am building a glossary for my relational model. When I finished I wanted to run the model against the design rules to check for conformance. My expectation is that any word (including plural, abbreviation, alt abbreviation) in the glossary will cause the rule to pass. However, it appears the design rules are only applying the "Name" column against the relational model. This means if I have a column named PERSON_ID and a glossary entry with "Name" of IDENTIFIER and "Abbreviation" of ID, it will fail. I am using DM 4.0.3.853.

Hi,
my tests show something different:
Warning, SH.CUSTOMERS.CUST_CITY_ID,"'CITY' is not defined in glossary 'HR Glossary - SCOTT'",Column,8C4BC9BC-F7B5-E351-1AD4-5173455E299E
as you see CUST and ID are not pointed as missing as it's for following column:
Warning, SH.CUSTOMERS.CUST_YEAR_OF_BIRTH,"'YEAR' , 'OF' , 'BIRTH' are not defined in glossary 'HR Glossary - SCOTT'",Column,D6BEFCFF-3406-DC2B-7DF4-7DE5E94BCC20
I have in that glossary a term "Year of Birth" with abbreviation YOB and column CUST_YOB is passing the test.
Plurals are used only for table name

My daughters ipod touch has been disabled because of a wrong passcode.  After 2 days of trying to get into Itunes, it will not help without a passcode and is not recognizing it as a device even though the computer is recognizing the USB.  I know I have to do a complete recovery, but can I do this without Itunes (or Icloud)?

2nd Gen iPad Mini stopped working yesterday.  Won't startup under and configuration and is not recognized by my iMac.  I believe it upgraded itself to iOS 8 (????)

    Hey Kenneth,
So it sounds as if your iPad is not responding at all when you try to turn it on, is that correct? If so, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If you get it to start up and it is still not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, use the steps in this article to troubleshoot that issue -
If you don't see your connected device in iTunes for Mac - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

2nd gen iPod touch only displays start-up apple icon, and is not recognized by iTunes - what to do?

Thanks, but I've checked those articles out already. I drained the battery and finally got the needs charge (battery w/red line + arrow pointing to a charging bolt), I plugged the USB into the laptop and held down the start key +home key until I saw the apple logo. However, it still was not recognized by itunes. It's been plugged in for over an hour now and the screen is cycling apple logo/low battery (battery w/red line)/and black screen.

  • My shuffle will not connect and is not recognized anywhere

I have had my shuffle for quite awhile... just after they came out with them. Everything has been going fine with it until about a week ago I connected to update it and a window popped up that said "Your iPod may be corrupt...". Since then I have not been able to connect my shuffle to my computer, it will not charge, and is not recognized by any computer. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it, if not I guess its time to get a new iPod. Thanks!

    A good news/bad news post...
I had the same problem, with my shuffle (original
512k). I couldn't run the reset utility because the
computer (imac) wouldn't even recognize that it was
connected. I pretty much gave up on it, but last
night I plugged it into the USB port to try it one
last time - nothing happened. But I forgot to pull
it out when I shut down and this morning while I was
working suddenly the shuffle was recognized by the
computer (actually a box came up saying the device
needs to be initialized or something). I quickly ran
the reset utility, the shuffle was recognized, itunes
launched and I was able to add music. I was so
excited I decided to share the news with the forum,
but while typing this very message the shuffle
disappeared from the desktop and I got a message
saying the device was removed improperly. Now the
bad news... if I plug in the shuffle it is once again
unrecognized by the computer. But at least I got
some tunes back on it, until I buy a replacement! And
    it did charge...

what will i do with my ipad 2 ios 5.0.1 stuck on white apple logo and itunes not recognized it. i'll always try to press and hold both the home botton and sleep/wake button but nothings happen.

if that dose not work then you can always put it into DFU mode by connecting to your computer and holding down the home button and sleep/wake button for excatly 10 seconds and then relesing the sleep/wake button and keep holding down the homebutton till iTunes tells you it has detected an iPad in recovery mode then just do a restore

  • IPhone 4 unable to charge and USB not recognized?

Hi, I've just got my iPhone replaced because the old screen is broken.
    In this new iPhone 4.
The camera rear, when I take photos, there is a slightly transparent black spot. It annoys me, but I chose to ignore.
It was fine all morning, till BAM!
This **** thing came up when I wants to charge my iPhone on my laptop.
My laptop can't recognize the iPhone. Earlier was fine (when I'm copying photos out), then later when I replug it happens.
"USB device not recognized. The LAST USB device you connected to this computer MALFUNCTIONED, and Windows does not recognize it"
This is my first time getting this warning.
Is there any way to reset the USB port, and redetect the iPhone USB?
Also, my iPhone can't be charge! I've tried different cables, different power source. None work.
I assume my cable is not broken because if it is, the my laptop wouldn't detect the USB and that annoying warning won't come up.
    I've have TRIED:
Soft rest and hard reset on iPhone.
Restart/Shutdown laptop. Also, deleted Upper Filter from Registry. Removed laptop charger. Unplug all USB.
    Reset all setting on iPhone.
Clean my iPhone charging port and charger adapter USB.
My iPhone left 10% of battery, and it's 3AM here. There's obviously no apple store open. There also no Genius Bar in my country.
And I've observe my battery gone down to 9% and back up to 10%. While I'm typing this, the battery goes up to 11%.
It's so so so slow. There is no "Charging" sign. Normally, the battery icon on the top right will have a plug sign thingy.
Now it doesn't show anything except for a red battery but percentage is going up so freaking SLOW!
*Also, how to update IOS to 6.1.4 (current 6.1.3)? I don't want IOS7.
    Using:
    Windows 8 64-bit
    Fujitsu laptop
    iPhone 4 IOS6
    iTunes 10.7
Help me, my iPhone is dying. Theres no prob for my old iPhone, geez.

    Just an update:
I spent many hours last night working on my phone, and after leaving it on my docking station for a few hours, it had enough battery to turn on, though it was only a tiny bit of battery. I quickly plugged it into my PC and was able to load the backup from iTunes from about a month ago, so that it was now my phone again. However, straight away the battery died again, and I left it on the docking station all night, but it never charged. Now it no longer shows the battery sign at all, just a black screen.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, as i was checking out the apple website, and as my phone no longer has warrantly it's going to cost me £125 for a service which ain't cheap!

  • My iPod Touch 4G cannot be turned on and is not recognized.

Okay, so, this is a long story, but I registered on this forum just to share it with someone, see if anyone had a similar problem.
A month or two ago, the home button on my iPod Touch 4G broke. Okay. So I started using that assistive touch feature. The one with the home button on the screen. Well, that's the background of this story. Let's get into the real meat.
This morning, there I am, waiting to get into class, watching a documentary on my iPod Touch. I grab my two-year old charging cable, plug it up on the PC I always use in class and move it around- it's so old, it needs to be at that right spot to charge up. Well, it starts charging, but once I unplug it and plug it again... something weird happens. With the PC. It gives me a "USB Device not recognized" error.
I thought the cable had finally gone pfft. Not a problem, I had a newer, better one back home. So I go back to watching my documentary- the device is working fine- and when it comes time to class, I press the lock button and put it back on my backpack. Fast forward five-six hours. Lunch time. I pull out my iPod Touch, press the lock button and... nothing.
Black screen. Nothing happens. No sound, no video. Okay, weird. I press the lock button again and again, and still, nothing happens. Maybe I need to turn it on? I hold onto the lock button, but it doesn't turn on or off. Maybe it needs to charge? I borrow a friend's cable, plug it up to a wall charger- the one from Apple- and... nothing happens. I take that cable, plug it up to a PC, and nothing happens. Except for the "USB Device not Recognized" error.
So that's where I am. I can't go to DFU mode cause my home button's borked up. Charging, pressing the lock button, reinstalling iTunes, nothing works. It just sits there. But I know it's not bricked up, because when I plug it up, it gives me that "USB Device not recognized" error.
I'm probably taking it to technical assistance tomorrow, but I'd at least like to hear if anyone had the same problem. All my stuff's there: my Things app with my homework stuff, my TV Show Tracker app, and while I did back app data to the iCloud, I'm not sure I can just put that data on my brother's iPod Touch. Help?

First try the following since it appears y have a computer problem:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Run this to help if it identifies the cause
iTunes for Windows: Device Sync Tests
Have you tried on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem?
    Next
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of these programs
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch and iPad Not Recognized by iTunes

When I plug in my iPod Touch and iPad, iTunes does not open, but both devices are recognized by Windows 7. When I open iTunes manually, there is no listing for "Device" at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest iTunes version several times to no avail. I'd appreciate any advice on what I can do to solve this problem.

  • IPod Touch and 5G not recognized by WinXP Computers

I am not very good at troubleshooting iPods and I thought this would be the best place to find some help. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
The problem: I have an iPod Touch and iPod 5G that are not recognized by a Windows Computer. I have tried several troubleshooting steps and I will just outline everything step by step. Neither of the iPods show up in device manager, and when I try the "Run Diagnostics" in iTunes it shows that no iPod is attached. I've made sure the iPod service is running and tried stopping and restarting that also- but the iPod never shows up under Device Manager.
    1. I have tried the 5R's several times. Each iPod has been reset 3 times and iTunes uninstalled and re-installed 3 times.
    2. I have tried a total of 3 Windows Computers all with the same problem.
    3. I did a factory restore on one of the computers just to troubleshoot an OS problem. The restore had no effect. It was a "destructive" restore meaning the disk was formatted- not just a repair.
    4. When each of the iPods are connected, the screen lights up and the charging indicator appears.
    6. I installed an add-on USB card in the computer I restored- but this made no difference.
    7. I have tried restarting the computer with the iPod attached.
    8. I am using the same USB cable for each iPod.
That is about all the detail I can think of. Typing this out makes me thing I need a new USB cable- but they are charging ok.
This problem has been going on for about 6-7 months but I finally have some time to try and get it fixed. It would be nice to have some new music on them.
    Thanks for any help!

There are two separate drivers that need to be loaded on your PC. The 5G uses the older driver, and troubleshooting for it can be found in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
The iPod touch/iPhone uses something called Apple Mobile Device Services to communicate with iTunes. This one is a bit different in that the touch/iPhone will not show up on the desktop as a device. For troubleshooting tips, see this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
Good luck and write back if your problems continue.
