Glossary Tab is empty

Terms are present in top half of Glossary Designer,
definitions are present in bottom half of Glossary Designer.
Generate Primary Layout, Tab is display but blank. I did copy paste
from a Word document?

Hi Jim1941 and welcome to our community
Is this happening on the PC where you have RoboHelp
installed? Or is it happening on an end user's PC?
My reason for asking this is because this is typically an
indication that the required HHActiveX.DLL file isn't present and
registered. This would seem highly unlikely if it's the development
machine, but VERY likely if it's an end user's machine.

  • Glossary Tab - No Contents

Weird problem. Using RH 9 and Win 7 64-bit.
I build a HtmlHelp output, and if I double-click on the chm within Windows Explorer, the Glossary tab appears, but it's just a gray empty tab. No glossary contents are displayed.
However, if I go into RH, right-click on the build layout and choose View from the context menu, the chm file opens again (the exact same chm), but for some reason, when accessing it from within RH, the glossary contents are properly displayed.
Help? Not sure why it's doing this nor what to do to get contents to appear when simply double-clicking on the chm.

    Hi Jared
When you have a Glossary tab or Browse Sequences, the CHM will need to use the HHActiveX.dll file to do its magick.
When you run a CHM by double-clicking it in Windows 7 64 bit, you are launching the 64 bit version of HH.EXE. This will also look for the 64 bit version of the HHActiveX.dll. When RoboHelp launches the CHM it uses the 32 bit version of HH.EXE.
Sounds like you haven't managed to register the 64 bit version of the DLL.
You should find this version of the DLL in the following folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 9\Redist\x64

  • Glossary tab doesn't display and Glossary pop ups don't work

TCS 3.5 (FrameMaker 10, RoboHelp HTML, version 9)
    Windows XP version 5.1 sp3
    Internet Explorer 8.0
My apologizes if this should be in a different forum.  Also, from searching I have found that the problem is usually that the DLL has not been loaded -- I have done that. So I am at a loss. Thanks in advance for your help!
Problem: My .chm output does not have a Glossary tab and the Glossary text pop-ups in my topics do not work.
Background: Since I am new to TCS 3.5 I'm going to give my entire process. Quite frankly I'm not even sure if my entire process is correct.
    Steps:
Before I began: I loaded the HHActiveX.dll. Here's the proof:
    Create a blank project.
Import master page (File > Import > Master Page).
Load project settings (File > Project Settings > Import).
Link FrameMaker Book (File > Link > FrameMaker Document)
Configure Properties (Right-click the book file in RH and click Properties).
In Properties, select Convert FrameMaker Table of Contents and give a name.
In Properties, select Convert Glossary and give a name.
In Project Manager pod, right-click the Glossary topic (System Management GLO) and click Set as Default.
Update Project (File > Update > Update All).
Run Glossary Hotspot Wizard (when running wizard, select the glossary topic that was set as default in step 8)
Edit the UpdateMarkedGlossaryTerms.jsx script (change the GlossaryName variable to the Glossary topic created in step 8 and change the GlossaryStyle variable to TextPopUp)
Run Update Marked Glossary Terms script (In Script Explorer pod, right-click the UpdateMarkedGlossaryTerms.jsx script and click Run).
Run graphicinreferencepages.jsx script (this inserts my note graphics from FM reference pages)
Configure Microsoft HTML Help layout.  Here's the properties file:
    16. In the properties file I selected the Glossary topic that I had set as my default in step 8.
    17. Click Save and generate.
Result: In the .chm file (and in View Selected Item in RH) when I click a glossary term in a topic, I get "This program cannot display the webpage". Also, the Glossary tab is not displayed.

    Welcome to our community, Linda
In RoboHelp, if you open the Glossary pod (View > Pods > Glossary > Select Glossary) do you see terms and definitions listed there?
If not, that would explain it as the Glossary has no entries.
Assuming it does have entries, you may simply need to enable the tab by clicking View > Pods > Project Set-up. Expanding the Windows section in the pod and double-clicking your CHM window.
A CHM window looks like this:
If you don't see a CHM window, you will need to create one. If you do see a CHM window, double-click it. Then ensure the Glossary is enabled.

  • Does anyone has problem with the Glossary tab in RB8?

The glossary tab does'nt show on *CHM file. Does anyone has that problem?
    1) Install RH8 on XP SP2 and register hhactivex.dll
    2) Start RH8
    3) Create new project.
    4) Click on '+' sign of Glossary from Project Manager to expand it and double click the Glossary(Default) to show the GLossary Pod.
    5) Type 'First' in the Term input field on the Glossary Pod, and click the + button to add it.
    6) Go to the 'Definition for :first section of the Pod and type in 'First'
    7) Save and generate the CHM file
This is the first time I create a new project in RH8 with Glossary.
If I import a previous project created with RoboHelp for Office X4 which has Glossary, and convert project to RH8 format and generate the CHM file, then the CHM file has the Glossary tab.
I can't possibly beleive it is a bug in RH8 . However, what mistake did I make?
This happens on XP SP2, RH 8.0.0.0.203, on XP SP3 with RH 8.0.2.208, on Win7 with RH 8.0.2.208. Basically, it doesn't matter on what PC we install RH8, doesn't matter how many time you register hhactivex.dll, the glossary tab never shows up. Howver, it shoes up on Winhelp.
    Thanks

    Hi there
No, I don't believe they are ameteurs. Besides, some ameteurs do better work than "professionals".
To be fair, some bugs are elusive. We may see them and report them but when the development team examines things they repeatedly and stubbornly fail to reveal themselves.

  • Glossary tab is looking in the wrong place for the Glossary file

    Running 11.0.3.268.
I am testing the Responsive layout. In my test project, the TOC, Index, and Search tabs are all functional, but when I click the Glossary tab, I get the IE "This page can't be displayed" message. The path listed on this page is:
    C:\My_Stuff\Docs\Help Output\ResponsiveHTML5\ProfitX\template\PROFITX_2\glossary1.htm
I can see, however, that the glossary file is actually located at:
    C:\My_Stuff\Docs\Help Output\ResponsiveHTML5\ProfitX\glossary.htm
Can anyone tell me where can I adjust my settings so that the generated project will be able to find the glossary file?
    Thanks!

Thank you for clarifying where I needed to look. After modifying the Glossary.slp references in the Index, Table of Contents, and Topic .slp files, I was able to get the Glossary content to show up in the generated responsive layout, at all resolutions. Getting this fixed is great. Thanks!
Curiously though, when I now click the Search tab/button, I get this:
Since this used to work, all I can think is that I've unintentionally broken something in an .slp file. I didn't touch any reference to Search in those files, but something isn't right. I'd appreciate it if you could glance through the recently modified sections of the .slp files (below) and let me know if anything looks amiss. Thank you.

  • Glossary Tab Not Showing Glossary terms in Microsoft HTML Help Output

When I generate Microsoft HTML output from my RoboHelp HTML project, the Glossary tab appears correctly showing the glossary terms after clicking the View Output button.  However, when I double-click on the final Compiled HTML Output file from Windows Explorer, the Glossary tab only shows a gray area without any terms.  Here's a screenshot of what appears when I click on this tab:
I have tried working with the Adobe engineers and they have not found a solution yet.  Anyone able to help?

    Hi there
Although the thread linked below isn't about the Glossary Tab, the cause is likely the same. So check out the thread and see if it addresses your issue.

  • Why do the glossary tab and browse sequences of my CHM not show up outside of Robohelp?

    Hi,
I have Robohelp 8.02.208 running on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine. It has only been a few weeks since I moved from XP, but I don't know if this is connected to my issue of having a grayed out glossary tab and no browse sequences listed in my generated CHM.
I had encountered a very simialr issue a couple or year ago, and thus I have verified in the registry that HHActiveX.dll is registered and properly located on my machine. All seems fine for that, but there is different twist: when I generate the CHM from Roboehlp and then click "View Result" everything works wonderfully. The problem is that as soon as I close that CHM, the browse sequences and glossary disappear. That is, I generate abc.CHM to C:\folderA and although everything is in place when I click View Result in Robohelp, if I later go to C:\folderA and open the same file, it has a grayed out glossary tab and missing browse sequences. And, not surprisingly I guess, if I send the CHM to someone else they get the same glossary-&-broswe-sequence-free result.
I have looked over many forum disucssions on grayed out glossary tabs and missing browse sequences, but nothing seems to explain my particular issue. It leaves me scratching my head quite a bit.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance :-)

    Hi there
Likely you need the 64 bit version of the HHActiveX.dll. I believe this is only available in RoboHelp HTML version 9.
If you have version 9 I received this from a Question I asked of Adobe:
...you can get the 64 bit version of HHActiveX.dll in  RoboHelp 9.0. It is kept at "<RoboHelp 9.0 install  folder>\Redist\x64\HHActiveX.dll"
If RoboHelp 9.0 is  installed on your machine, this activeX control is already registered.  Otherwise you need to register this DLL.
    To register HHActiveX.dll,
1> Run Command prompt(cmd.exe) as administrator
    2> Type "regsvr32 <HHActiveX.dll full path>" and press Enter.
3> This should show that the registration is done successfully.
Now working with 64 bit version of HH.exe should also show Glossary and Browse Sequences.
You might download version 9 and test.

  • FREE: OHJ Glossary tab

If anyone wants to try it/use it, I've got a working Glossary tab for OHJ. You'll need OHJ 4.2.1 to use it. It's designed to read and display simple text glossary entries from an XML file (coincidentally, this is the same glossary XML output format generated by RoboHelp for WebHelp projects, so if you're using RoboHelp to create OHJ, you can maintain the glossary in RoboHelp itself).
E-mail me, and I'll send the instructions, the .java files, a sample XML file, and the added entries for your .hs file.

where frm i get "Free of cost" tab in PO i am searching bt not getting it. pls help
    >
    Hi,
To find the Free (i.e Free item) check box in PO you need to right scroll in item overview screen just the check box field after Returns indicator field
    > I have another question what is the purpose of Auto PO chk box in MM01
    F1 help clearly says
    Indicator: "automatic purchase order allowed"
Defines that purchase orders are generated automatically when purchase requsisitions are converted into purchase orders.
    Use
If this indicator is flagged, the system does not display the purchase orders on the screen before they are saved.
    Dependencies
In the master record for the vendor with whom the material is ordered, the field "Automatic purchase order" must be flagged in the control data for the purchasing data"
So you can ME59 T.code to covert Pr to PO automatically

  • Getting the Glossary tab to appear?

For our localization process we decompile our English
RH-built HtmlHelp file (.chm) into it's respective components and
ship it off for localization. When it comes back, I recompile the
project outside of RH, using FAR HTML instead. The problem is that
the Glossary tab doesn't ever appear. From what the help file says
the HHActiveX.dll has to be registered for the Glossary tab to
appear, but I'm thinking I probably have to build the file within
RoboHelp to get this functionality. Is this true or is there a way
to enable it outside of RH?
Usually we've just recreated the .glo as an .htm with
headings and paragraphs and have that translated and then link to
it, but would like to get the tabbed functionality working to
streamline our process a little better.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jared
Yes, I believe the file has to be compiled using RoboHelp in
order to make the Glossary Tab work. I'm not sure why or what is
special about it, but as I understand it that's the case. And it's
also the case that each of your end users will not only have to
have the HHActiveX.DLL present, but it has to also be properly
registered with Windows in order for it to work.
I see from your signature line that you are using RoboHelp 7,
so I'm wondering if you have tried the command line compile as
    opposed to the other method.

  • Glossary tab in .chm

RoboHelp HTML ver 8, Vista machine (seemed like a good idea at the time).  I have done all the updates to RH8.
I want to include the glossary in the .chm build.  I have created a glossary (with terms and definitions) and chosen it in the SSL Microsoft HTML Help (the primary layout) properties.  But alas, there is no Glossary tab in the Help when I compile and view it.  All other settings from the Property screen of the SSL are ok.
I have hunted around through the RH8 help, this forum, and poked and prodded the program itself – still have not found what I am doing wrong.  What am I missing?!?!
    Thanks much fo the help!

I don't use a glossary or RH8, but one thought is that maybe it needs to be set in the Window definition as well as the SSL?

  • Glossary Tab and Navigation Controls

    Hi
Our company has been asked to test our application using a
Japanese version of Windows. Neither the program nor the help will
be translated. Our QA department found two help-related problems:
    1. The TOC, Index, and Search tabs appear in Japanese, but
    the Glossary tab does not.
    2. The Navigation Control I inserted for the Related Topics
appears as a square with a dot in the middle as if it were a
missing image, and nothing happens when you click it.
I'd appreciate any help you can offer to either show the
Glossary tab in Japanese, or the other three in English, and to get
    my Related Topics popup back.
I use RoboHelp 7.02 HTML and generate CHM files.
    Thanks,
    Jennifer

  • Glossary checkbox selected but Glossary tab not displayed

i've created a html help file (RH 2002) and added "glossary
    terms".
To display the glossary tab, i even selected "Glossary" check
box in the Tripane Tabs and windows (HTML Help window properties).
I even added the dll file (HHActiveX.dll) in to my help folder
which was suggested by the help tutorial.
Still my glossary tab does not get displayed.
But when i created a new project and apply all these settings
(without even adding the dll file), the glossary tab gets
displayed....i do not know what's really happening in my existing
project. I've checked all the settings....any guidance please....Is
there anything i need to check further....

    HI usureka
Unfortunately, it's not as simple as just having the .DLL
present. You will also need to have it
registered with Windows. If you look in the RoboHelp help
system, there are instructions for how to register the file. They
    say:
    Registering HHActiveX.DLL
This information applies to Microsoft HTML Help projects.
If your Microsoft HTML Help project includes an online
glossary, browse sequences, or WebSearch, a special file named
HHActiveX.DLL needs to be registered on end users' systems to
    support these features.
The following steps help you distribute HHActiveX.DLL to your
end users and manually install HHActiveX.DLL, if necessary.
    To distribute HHActiveX.DLL:
Open Windows Explorer and browse to your RoboHelp program
files folder (by default, this is located in C:\Program
    Files\RoboHELP Office\RoboHTML).
    Right-click HHActiveX.DLL and select Copy.
Browse to the location of your .CHM file and paste
    HHActiveX.DLL into the same folder.
Distribute HHActiveX.DLL with your .CHM file and any other
files you are distributing with your Help system.
To manually register HHActiveX.DLL:You can provide these
instructions to your end users if you are distributing
    HHActiveX.DLL with your Help system.
Click the Windows Start button, then select Run.
    In Open, type the following:
regsvr32 <path> hhactivex.dll (specify the path of the
    HHActiveX.DLL)
    Click OK.
    Tips:
You only need to distribute HHActiveX.DLL if you are
distributing a Microsoft HTML Help system that includes an online
    glossary, browse sequences, or WebSearch.
    Cheers... Rick

  • ESB Control Instances Tab is Empty

    Hi,
I have working on SOA Suite 10G. I have deployed ESB CustomerData Tutorial sucessfully. But this ESB is not activated meaning ESB should read customer XML from input directory every second and write into database but that is not happening. If you login to ESB Control Instances TAB is empty. Meaning ESB is not getting invoked at all.
PLease let me know what can be the issue.
    Regards,

    Hi.
Probably your File Adapter is not being triggered by the polling activity. This can be for several reasons. You need to check all your adapter configuration like file name pattern, and that your physical path where your XML file resides matches the one you configured in the adapter.
Also check for the logs under ORACLE_HOME\opmn\logs.
