Glow-in-the-dark shuffle cases?

I never really thought I needed a case for my shuffle, but I noticed a company selling glow-in-the-dark ones that actually looked pretty nifty.
They are pictured over on http://www.shop4tech.com/?go=view_item&id=3605&r=184 and are fairly cheap at less than $20. I was wondering if anybody had tried one and could tell me if it was worth the money.

If you are looking for a great shuffle case..take a look at
http://www.iskin.com
Great colors and they do a great job protecting the shuffle from the elements

In a roaming network, your "main" router is the device that would require port mapping/forwarding to be configured in order to access the IP camera from the Internet. This router is also the one that would be provide the private IP address for the camera which you will want to be a static one.
So as you described your network, the IP cameras should be getting an IP address or you assigned it a static one and this is the address that you would enter in the Private IP address (or equivalent depending on the router used) field when setting up port mapping.
If you are not able to access this camera from the local network, then this should be troubleshot first.

  • Best glow-in-the-dark keyboard stickers/covers?

There is a lot of use who want glowing keys, so instead of just complaining... let's try DIFFERENT solutions (LED via USB just isn't practical for me) and post reviews.
I contacted the iSkins people about an FX for the 3rd gen MBA and they said: "Thank you for your interest in iSkin. Unfortunately, our current Protouch covers are not compatible with the newly released Macbook Air.
At the moment, we do not have any news or update with regards to releasing covers for them but we will however take your inquiry into consideration as we are currently evaluating the market. Hopefully we can release an iSkin for your this particular Macbook in the very near future."
Personally, I only need/want a few keys to glow for reference. (C for Copy/Paste, 5 and 0 for Numbers, and maybe Period or Comma) So, glow in the dark stickers are what I'm looking at.
We should all try different products and post reviews so as to save each other time/money.

  • Screen looks glow in the dark

My son pushed some buttons not sure exactly what he has done but my screen is black and everything else sort of glows in the dark. Please help!!!

The other thing it could be is another setting in the same Universal Access panel, also under Seeing - the Display settings should be "Black on white", but may have been switched to "White on black"
It's possible to switch back and forth by hitting control-alt-command-8 all at the same time. Which doesn't sound too likely to get hit by accident, but it happens to pretty much every Mac user at some point!

  • Is there a good waterproof casing for the nano shuffle iPod?

Do anyone know of a good waterproof casing and earphones for the iPod nano shuffle that one could go swimming with?

This forum category is for the iPod shuffle.  There is also the iPod nano.  There is no "iPod nano shuffle."
There is a company that modifies iPod shuffles to be waterproof (not a case)

  • Seduced to the Dark Side ....

    Hi all,
I've been a die hard PC fan all my adult life and the thought of using a Mac would send me into a panic. However over the past 18 months or so, I've slowly been seduced to the dark side ;o). It was slow at first not even perceivable (is that even a word?). My friend persuaded me into getting the iPhone 3GS. I was impressed and reliased I couldn't live without it. It even replaced my bedside alarm clock of 12 years, and as it lay there at night it would gently glow and pulsate, gently ticking away the seconds and telling me that the time was 1:00am and that all was well in life. Then along came it's younger sister a year or so later and I was smitten. It was love at first site. I looked at big sis and thought, hey you're begining to look a bit fat and pudgey. Your looks ain't what they used to be sweet heart, you've let your self go. Smudgey finger prints smeared across what was once such a bright, clean and scratch free screen. Before she knew it, she was pimped on eBay for 300 smackers and it was all I could do not to smash the shop door down as I waited for the time to tick onto 9am. I laid my money on the counter and took her gently in my hand. I immediately bought her the tight fitting corset, no dropped signals for you my love, I whispered gently. I can inform you all that we are very happy together but I do think back to big sis with fond memories and pray she's doing well and being stroked as gently as she was when she was with me. Then, just a while ago, came big mamma, and wow, what a mamma she was. I can tell you all that Big certainly is better. Well I thought our family was complete and there I thought it would end, but, may God have mercy on my soul, I'm looking at the gorgeous iMac. What's wrong with me? 18 months ago I was a normal bloke, in a normal hardware reltionship, a one PC guy. Ok sometimes it was hard going, and we both had to work hard at the relationship, but there we had great times in Call of Duty online fragging parties where we would while away the early hours blowing the heads off anyone and everyone, but she became too expensive to run. She started to slow her pace and demanded more and more and once again I find myself smitten. This time it's the iMac. It's sleek and slender design has me sneeking peeks at it on the iPad, while my PC sits forlorn in the corner neglected and gathering dust. I feel guilty but what can a man do when faced with sheer beauty?! I'm planning on a blind date at the Apple store, Kingston, where a chaperone has agreed to introduce me to iMac 27in 2.66Ghz Quad 1Gb 1Tb. A bit of a mouthfull I know, but I'm sure once the relationship blossoms we'll find those cute nick names that couples have for one another. But I need advice and this is where you guys come in. Before I do take the plunge and commit to this relationship I would like to ask some questions. I doubt that i will be able to break the umbilical chord between me and my PC so easily, so I would like to know more about this boot camp thing. As an avid PC gamer, I would very much like to continue to play my games both online and off with great emphasis on smooth game play and great graphics. Is this feasible with the new iMac? Is there any emulation involved or is it actual native intel based hardware allowing me simply to load up Win 7? I would also like to be able to install my existing PC software without have to fork out for Mac equivalents, is this possible? Many thanks for the advise and I hope you enjoyed the read!

Hi and welcome to Discussions and hopefully the world of Macs,
BootCamp is no emulation of virtualization software but lets you install WIndows natively on an Intel-based Mac.
Start of with reading the Installation Guide plus the FAQs here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
You might also stop by the BootCamp Forum to be found here http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=237
In essence running WIndows on the iMac is like running WIndows on any other given PC.
You need a descent Anti-Virus software for it you can install all your WIndows programs and all your Windows games
Have Fun and give my regards to little sis and big mamma
    Stefan

  • Whistling In The Dark

Does any one from Apple Tech Support read these posts? If yes, is Apple Tech Support actually doing anything to find the root cause and fix this problem?
If so please reassure us that we are not just whistling in the dark.

As you may see from all the posts and threads on this link, there is a very common and difficult to solve problem with iPod Shuffles being recognised as a USB device by Windows XP.
This seems to have been made worse by recent updates to iPod and iTunes software.
My recent call to the Apple helpdesk seemed to indicate that this was completely off the Apple radar.

  • The dark mod won't start/question about rebuilding an AUR package.

Hi...just migrated from Debian so i would be forced to learn some new things (and to tweak my system to meet my needs:P), and till now everything has worked flawlessly..today i encountered my first opportunity.
Just installed The Dark Mod and it won't start.
    I got this error:
dlopen '/home/case/.doom3/darkmod/gamex86.so' failed: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
Surfed the forums and the solutions were to rebuild the package (wich i still have to learn) or make a symlink (wich was not recomended)...the solutions were appointed in similar cases, with the same error but to other software.
    I'm using libjpeg-turbo 1.1.0-1 and Doom3 runs like a charm...The mod won't...so i'm a litle confused.
The PKGBUILD of the mod does not mention this particular library since the only dependance that is written in the PKGBUILD is Doom 3...
So what i'm asking is how do i build it again to make it work with my libjpeg library?wich file do i have to modify?
Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks.

From AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=31788. i intalled it with that PKGBUILD...at first i thought that with a slight modification of it i could make the mod work..but the PKGBUILD does not refer to that particular library.
(...Doom3's engine also comes from the AUR)
Sorry..i mentioned AUR in the title and then forgot to write the mod came from there...
What is bothering me is that Doom3 runs with my lib and TDM won't, it tries to open  libjpeg.so.62 wich is an old library.

  • Keyboard lighting stops in the dark

when ambient light dims to total darkness, my keyboard light turns off. Do you know why? It seems to work in find in mild light, but as soon as all the lights go out, so does the keyboard. Frustrating for working in the dark. My screen does fine. Any thoughts or guidance appreciated.

Here is the full blog post (in case it goes away):
*Macbook Air has 3 Level of Ambient Light Detection?*
Here's a simple test. Lets label these levels 1 - 3 for simplicity where
Level 1 is the brightest ambient light, screen brightness is set to "max" and keyboard backlight is off.
Level 2 is the darkness level that you notice your screen backlight darkens for the first time. Keyboard backlight is on (as in you can set the brightness)
Level 3 is the next level darker than level 2. I observed that the screen darkens further and keyboard backlight is also on (brightness is setable).
To ascertain that we do have a third level, test out your MBA in a bright environment. Cast a slight shadow over the light sensor (left of the iSight) until the screen darkens for the first time. Next, completely cover the light sensor. You will notice that the screen darkens again.
Here's the funny thing. If the keyboard brightness for level 2 is set to anything but the maximum, the keyboard brightness will completely turn off at level 3. Conversely, if you turn the keyboard brightness on at level 3 (anything brighter than no light), the brightness will be set to max at level 2. If the brightness is set to max at level 2, it is reduced greatly at level 3 probably to be less distracting.
Several Macbook Air users have complained about their keyboard backlight not working as advertised -- they have the backlight come on in semi-dark, then turn off again. The above observation seems to fit their situation quite well so if you are one of them, just cover your light sensor, set the brightness and see if that works out for you.

  • Suitable alternatives to the iPod Shuffle

Having lost my old 2nd generation iPod Shuffle and having suffered nothing but problems with the new iPod Shuffle due to its intolerance to sweat, I need to find an alternative to the iPod Shuffle as I am about to start training for a marathon. Can anyone recommend any suitable alternatives to the iPod Shuffle?

Buy this: http://scosche.com/products/sfID1/210/sfID2/321/productID/1726 and use any headphones you want (I use Sennheiser water resistant ones: I sweat quite a bit). I've had no sweat problems with this combination.
It is primarily the headphone switch that fails/shorts, not the Shuffle itself if you place it carefully where you won't rain on it.
Or get a Nano and a waterproof case.

  • I thought the keyboard was meant to light up in the dark!?!?

    hi
my macbook (13.3 inch, 24GHz intel core duo) is about a day old now.
I thought the keys were meant to light up in a greeny colour?!?!
thanx to tell me if im right or not and if im confusingit with another mac!
If i am right then how do you get the keys to light up?

There are dozens of USB-powered lights to choose from. Most have small gooseneck stems that terminate in a USB connector on one end & an LED lamp assembly on the other, allowing you to position the light as needed. A few have a short cable & a clip-on lamp assembly, which you could clip to the MacBook's screen edge.
Different models have different numbers of LED's in various configurations. Some produce a small spotlight effect & won't illuminate much of the keyboard, others have a broader beam, but most won't illuminate the keyboard evenly from edge to edge like the built-in backlighting on the higher priced Mac laptops. OTOH, they can be pointed at other objects, like a paper document next to the computer, if necessary.
These lights draw power from the MacBook's (or any other) USB port, so they don't require a separate power source. An alternative is any of a number of battery powered LED lights, especially those designed to clip onto & illuminate books for night reading. They are a good addition to anyone's "on the go" laptop case, not just for keyboard illumination but also for things like examining network connectors in dark recesses.
They are usually very inexpensive, often $3 or less for the battery powered kind & usually under $10 for the USB ones if you buy "no name" versions from discount stores. Price doesn't seem to be a good indicator of quality.

Do you find something special in the case mod?
Yes, it is digital photo frame. Modder Fabio Moma made this mod like a micro home theater for inside components. And it is showing "Batman The Dark Knight".

  • ATI oss color space compressed in the dark shades of gray

With the arrival von linux 3.13 to [core] I switched from catalyst to the open source drivers, as they finally provide a sufficient performance. My only problem now is that the colorspace is compressed for gray values below 16 (that means every shade of gray having values of 0 to 16 look just black). That's only the case for my HDMI-output connected to my TV, which worked without problems with the catalyst drivers. Also, only the dark grays are compressed, the near-white grays show up correct.
In the wiki I found a xrandr-command "--set "Broadcast RGB" "Full"", which can be used with chips from Intel. Is there something similar for the open source ati drivers?

That's just outputting the options "load detection", "dither", "audio", "underscan vborder", "underscan hborder", "underscan" and "coherent" for both my monitor and TV - are these really all? Here's the full output:

Just to emphasize this further: color space compression is not a problem on my monitor, but only on the TV. Setable options don't differ as you can see in the output above. Also, Xorg.0.log shows that the TV on HDMI-0 supports the RGB 4:4:4 encoding (just like the monitor does). Here's the full Xorg.0.log:

  • Voice Memos on the iPod Shuffle

I have an iPhone 4s which I have made some voice memos on. I synced them to my computer and created a playlist in iTunes of the specific files I needed. I would like to put them onto my second generation iPod shuffle, but when I try to autofill the iPod shuffle from that playlist, I get an error message saying "iTunes cannot add any songs to the iPod "Nicole's iPod" because no songs in the playlist can be copied to this iPod." Is there anyway that I can copy the voice memos to the iPod shuffle?

What format are these files encoded in?  You can check by right->clicking on a track, choosing Get Info, and looking under the Summary tab.
Do these Voice Memos play okay in iTunes?
