Gmail account setting locked...

I altered my gmail password on my PC, but I now can't access it on my iPad.
All of the 'Accounts', 'Add Account' and 'Fetch New Data' are greyed out and not available.
Do I have to reset the iPad, or is there another solution?

I would recommend that, from a PC/browser, you attempt to use the FREE BIS website to configure your email:
http://free.blackberry.com/
If that does not work, then you need to contact FREE for formal support.

    OK, I persevered and used the Rebuild mailbox option on Mail, actually had to do it twice, but now when I boot up and Mail opens all the previously received iCloud messages I've read on iPhone/iPad are pushed through.

    Since the issue is on Outlook through Google Apps Sync, I don't have the environment to test it for you, the support that I can provide is limited.
    Anyway, I still want to know, what did you refer to by "dashboard"? Do you mean the Navigation Pane on the left side?

  • GMail Account Repeatedly Locking

    Have a fairly new Pre Plus from Verizon, running WebOS 1.4.....email worked fine for first week or so, but recently my GMail account has started to lock.....I get a message prompting me to unlock my account via a captcha screen - I go to that screen, enter my information and successfully unlock, and successfully retrieve my emails........then a few hours later, it's locked again....this has been going on repeatedly for a few days, and is getting a bit tedious.....
    IMAP/POP settings on the Pre are as they should be (ports, etc.), and IMAP and POP are enabled in my GMail account......have even tried deleting and then re-establishing my account, with no luck.....have also searched and searched for this happening to others, to no avail
    Anybody else experience this or - more importantly -- have any idea how to fix it?

    I have the EXACT same problem.  I contacted Google and this is what they said:
    Thanks for your report. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience.

    detected.
    Abnormal usage includes, but is not limited to:

    back)
    - Using third party file-sharing or storing software, or software that
    automatically logs in to your account and that is not supported by Gmail

    continually reloading while attempting to access your inbox, it is likely
    a browser issue, and it may be necessary to clear your browser's cache and

  • HT201320 gmail account set-up and user name or password is incorrect?

    Went through the set-up for gmail and iPad says user name or password is incorrect.  Is there something I need to change on my gmail account settings that would allow my iPad to access account?

    The phone is not deciding that your password is wrong. Google is. I'm sure you can find the answer you're looking for if you actually read the google help pages. This is a common problem.

    Ever since I have signed up for Fios, I have been unable to send emails from my  Gmail account I have set up  in Outlooks.  I have tried changing the outbound port from 25 to others to no avail.  Can anyone please help?

    IMAP or POP on the incoming shouldn't make any difference for outging. If it's working, don't mess with it.
    I looked at the page for IMAP settings as well, and they still say smtp.gmail.com on port 587 with TLS enabled and authenticate with same settings as incoming.
    Do you have any security software installed? Some of those programs run a scan on outgoing messages that can cause a timeout. Try temporarily disabling your security software to see if that resolves the issue. Either way, enable it again when done testing. If that fixed the issue, you can try increasing the timeout limit in the Outlook settings, or try adjusting the settings on your security software based on their instructions.

    Most current Mac systems have a preloaded set of information and settings for the common email providers.  Try just choosing gmail and enter your userid and password at the prompts and see if the preload configures correctly for you.

    yes. delete that account and recreate it as an imap account (gmail allows both). when creating the account using the account wizard uncheck the box to set it up automatically. This checkbox creates a POP account and you want imap.

  • How do I specify the gmail outgoing server if I have multiple gmail accounts in my mail? I have 2 business accounts and when I send mail from one account, it is sent from the other account and the sending email is not from the correct account.

    I love my apple email and do not want to use google mail on safari. However, I have 2 gmail accounts set up on apple mail, but when I send mail from one of my gmail accounts (I choose the specific gmail account in the drop down window), it actually goes out as if it is from the other gmail account. I can't have that happen because one is my job, the other is a personal business account and unfortunately, the mail from both gmail accounts want to send through the personal business account. How do I make it send from a specific gmail account? I even tried deleting the accounts and setting them up again hoping I set it up wrong in the first place, but to no avail, it is still doing the same thing except this time I set the job account up first and then the personal business account and now everything goes from the job account! The only good thing is that the incoming messages work properly and they go into the correct inbox. Somebody please fix my outbox!

    In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
    Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

    I have 2 Gmail account set up on the phone both of which have calendars, and those calendars come up fine, there's no problem there.
    The issue comes with one of my email accounts, where I have two calendars on the account, a work calendar and a personal calendar, it's the work one which syncs fine but I cannot get the personal one to sync.

  • How do or can I switch gmail account to exchange?

    I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch.  I updated to iOS5 this summer, but some programs/apps got very slow, but the biggest, consistent problem is the Calendar app.  I'm thinking perhaps this could be related to email and gmail.  So here are my questions about email settings.
    I want to try switching my "gmail" account to "exchange."  Is this a good idea, would it help with push capability and perhaps be better for calendar too?  Will it conflict and be a problem to have 2 "exchange" accounts or will they cause problems with each other?
    I have 2 email addresses / accounts that get email on my iPod. They are both @gmail.com addresses set as IMAP.
    One is set as: "Gmail" with Mail, Calendars and Notes "ON."  This account is my main account and in the last couple of months, my email no long "pushes" to the device (i.e. it won't show up in notifications center, or download at all until I go to the inbox screen).  When you go to look at the settings of this "gmail" account there is no slide bar about mail folders to push, it's just not there. 
    The 2nd is set as "exchange" with "Mail" only turned on.  (I read an article way back that said this is the way to have 2 email addresses that stay separate but can be checked on one device.)  This email account does "push" new messages as there is a slider bar that has this option turned on. 
    So the questions are above and here to:
    1. Can I switch a "gmail" account set up on iPod Touch to "exchange."  If so, how do I do this?  Will I lose all data (email, calendar, notes) and info currently downloaded to the device?  Will it all come back if I make a change?
    2. Will this work with the 2nd "exchange" gmail account?  Will it keep the 2 email addresses separate with different inboxes and folders as they are in gmail?  Will there be any conflict or corruption or funky problems having 2 "exchanges"?
    3. Any sense of whether "exchange" is better for gmail calendar functionality too?  I have a horrible time with the Calendar app simply not working, it freezes, it shows everything blank but when I quit and reload it sometimes comes back and all my data is there.  I've downloaded other calendar apps (Week Calendar and CalenMod) and they also have problems so I feel it's got something to do with how the wifi sends info to the device.

    Okay, thanks for the article and the heads up that exchange is going away soon. But that article is talking about setting up a "gmail" account in settings which is what I have already and push doesn't seem possible this way. Is there another or better option to have 2 separate email gmail accounts fetching and pushing data to one device?

  • Help with imap gmail account via mac mail

    What are the best settings for gmail as imap in mac mail?
    I have my gmail account set up with mac Mail as an IMAP account.
    I notice that in the last few weeks?? not sure how long, my mac mail is taking forever to load.  I opened the activity window and it seems like there are so many things happening.  I did find an old account that was still had some activity and while I had delteed it, I did need to do a few more steps to get it out of the process.
    Now, as it still seems to take forever for my inbox to fully load, I began looking into the settings. 
    I am not able to change the settings for trash and I think saving the deleted messages to the server could be a waste of time.  This is the advanced setttings page
    the trash is 'grayed out' and won't allow me to uncheck the 'store deleted messages on the server'.  Anyone know how to change this?
    Also, I want to uncheck 'store sent messages on the server' as I think that will save a LOT of process activity, but gmail's directions for imap accounts says to leave it checked.  Not sure why, any thoughts?

    I'm not familiar with CalbeOne, but you can follow the instructions they provided at their site:

    You might also want to make sure you followed their transfer instructions.
    Build your accounts in Mail as per the POP or IMAP settings provided. When adding accounts to Mail, when you get to the first screen, you can hold the option key down when you hit continue for more options on the Mail configurations rather than the standard defaults.
    If you are viewing these accounts at the gmail website, then you might need to do some configuration there also. I'm not sure on how much they are integrated with gmail.

  • Getting Both Gmail and IMAP E-mail Notifications for my Gmail Account

    I have a personal GMail account and a work account which we have hosted through Gmail apps.
    I set up my Gmail personal account as the main one and click on the Gmail icon on my screen to access it. 
    I then set up my work account through the POP/IMAP Mail application.
    I only have my Personal Gmail account set up to send notifications. But whenever I get a new e-mail in my personal account I get first a grayed out POP/IMAP mail notification, then a couple seconds later, a colored Gmail Mail notification. 
    Each of them only happens once, but the fact that I'm getting two isn't right.
    Like I said, the notifications in the POP/IMAP are turned off, and the Personal are turned on.
    How do I stop this annoying double notification?

    This is because the POP/IMAP account uses the default email settings, if you have other accounts set with a alert under the stock email app the notification will be for all accounts under stock email accounts..  Some roms have a option that list as Silent under the notification menu, look and see if you have this option and select it..

  • Gmail account (pop) won't send in Mail

    Well, I give up. I am using an ibook G4 with Leopard and Mac Mail. I have two gmail accounts set up on my ibook, one for me and one for my wife. Both have worked flawlessly through Gmail. Recently, although my wife's account can receive emails, she cannot sent out email as 'can't use this server' message comes up and it appears at that point that her account is offline. All accounts are online according to that option in the Mail menu. Both accounts are set up exactly the same using the same gmail outgoing server smtp.gmail.com:gmail email address. If I change the out going server to mine ie,smtp.gmail.com:my gmail email address then the message will go.(although any relies will come to me rather than her).
    What have I done? Repaired permissions, used Onyx, deleted the mail prefs and re-entered new email accounts for both of us (actually "started all over again").
    Her account works fine via her iPhone so the problem seems to be with my iBook in some manner..
    Any ideas heartily welcomed!
