Gmail and iCloud calendars seem incompatible

I am experiencing two issues with calendars on my new iPad (3rd gen) related to GMail. I have spoken with Level 2 support (so far, no luck in solving this problem), and have scoured these support pages ... several possible solutions do not appear to be working. So alas, I'll ask the question and hope for some insights.
ISSUE 1: Cannot add invitees when creating calendar entries on a Google Calendar
On my iPad, I have 3 calendars set up ... default iCloud calendar + two Google calendars. All three synch perfectly between my iPad and other devices. However, if I create a new event on my iPad, there is no option to add invitees to an event created on my Google calendars ... neither my primary calendar or the secondary calendar I share with my family. I can, however, add invitees to a new event created with my iCloud calendar. However, there seems to be an issue with this as well....
ISSUE 2: Invitations from iCloud calendar are not sending
Again, from my iPad, when I add any user's email address to receive invitations from my iCloud calendar, the invites do not appear to be going out.... at least not to any of my email addresses or my wife's email address. When I attempt to send an invite to my Gmail account, my name simply disappears after a few seconds (my gmail account is my iCloud account / Apple ID). When I send an invite to my office email address, the name does not disappear, but I receive no invitation at work.  So basically, I can't send invites from my iPad.... period.
A few facts...
My Gmail email address is my Apple ID.
Many of my friends' and colleagues' email addresses are either their Apple ID's or alternative email addresses (I saw several posts about "bugs" with iCloud relating to auto-forwarding of calendar invites to iCloud for addresses that are associated with Apple IDs).
I have turned OFF the default setting in iCloud calendar to automatically forward invites to my iCloud calendar (pursuant to another post on this subject)
I used to use a different email address (Yahoo) for my Apple ID. At that time, I could send invitations using my Google calendar with no issues. This problem only started to occur when I switched my Apple ID to my Gmail account, which I prefer as it enables seamless synching of contacts.
I am all ears ... willing to try almost anything. Help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Why do you need them in iCloud? You can use Google as the point of sync instead on all your devices.

  • Syncing with gmail and iCloud across 3 devices

I cannot get my devices to sync properly (MacBook, iPad mini, iPhone 5c).  I use Gmail and iCloud, and it seems to muddy the waters.  My contacts, for example, are a mess.  As someone who is normally on top of the tech stuff, I feel confused and very frustrated.  Is it time to get rid of Gmail?  Do I need to wipe my data and start fresh?  For some reason there just seem to be too many settings to get everything to work seamlessly.  If anyone has faced similar issues please let me know if you have any solutions--whether it is a step by step process, or visit or the Genius Bar...
    Thanks!

iCloud doesn't sync email; changing your iCloud settings won't effect your ability to sync email.  Just set up the same Gmail account on all your devices.  Unless you set it up as a POP account, it will stay in sync across your devices.  (Only IMAP and Exchange accounts sync across your devices; POP email doesn't.)

OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages - Apple Support
Google Mail recently implemented additional security measures "for your protection" of course. The manifestation of that may be the requirement to create a unique, "application-specific" password for each one of the various Google services you may use. That requirement probably includes Google Mail. So if the above Apple Support document doesn't resolve the problem, research Google's application-specific password requirements, and how to configure Mail to use it.
I asked the Hosts to edit or obscure the email address in your post.

  • What is the difference between On My Mac calendar and icloud calendar?

What is the difference between On My Mac calendars and icloud calendar. I would like just one system to be on both my iphone and MacBook.

    Hi,
On My Mac calendars are local to the machine. iCaloud calendars are synced to Apple's iCloud servers.

  • Desktop and iCloud calendar differ

My husband is subscribed to my calendars. Previously he subscribed to them thru Mobile Me. On the migration to iCloud some of the calendars duplicated. I deleted all the duplicates from my calendars, re-set it up thru icloud and re-shared them. However, although the calendars now appear on his web calendar perfectly, and he can edit them, some (ones which were recurring without an end date) are duplicated on his desktop Mac calendar and he can't edit them. Additionally, these are appearing up to 10 times on his iphone - this 10 times appearance happened suddenly a few months ago, rendering his iphone useless for looking at any calendars.
Obviously I did something wrong in the initial migration from MM to iCloud. But I can't seem to fix it. None of the calendars are duplicated on either my Web calendar or my desktop calendar. None are duplicated on his Web calendar. Only the recurring, endless ones are duplicated on his desktop calendar. And only some of the recurring endless ones appear up to 10 times on his iphone.
If anyone has any suggestions on what to do, we'd both be very grateful.
    thanks!

    samdale67,
Have you had any luck fixing this problem yet?
I just noticed today that my iCloud calendar is consistently one hour behind my iPhone4s calendar. It's as if my iCloud calendar never got the Daylight Savings Time Spring Forward message. The iPhone, on the other hand, updated to DST right on schedule. It's annoying because I'm starting to use my iCloud calendar and would like the time change to be applied.

  • HT203808 Help! gmail and icloud are fighting on my MacBookPro and iPhone!

I have an old pre-iCloud account that uses the usual icloud.com email address. I also have another iCloud account that is the main one--the one where I pay for extra storage and all that stuff--and this main icloud account is identified by my gmail.com address. All was harmony until about 2 days ago, when I suddenly began getting demands to enter my password, followed by the error message that it was the wrong password. I've spent hours with patient Apple techs on the phone, and the problem seems solved for about 10 minutes, then the same thing begins happening. I'm having my own personal Groundhog's Day on April Fools Day, and I am  not fooling about that. It's made worse by the fact that it is also my birthday, and dealing with IT issues is not my idea of a fun birthday. So, wah! Anybody have thoughts?

You might want to reflect that in your profile. Could you also explain what part this old account plays in your problem. Have you simply tried signing out of your account and then back in again.

  • Hour discrepancy between Outlook calendar and icloud calendar

My Outlook calendar, iphone, ipad and icloud are set to the same time zone and time zone support is ON. But when I create an appointment on outlook it appears +1 hour in my apple devices. Nothing. I just stopped using that mail account so I didn't had the need for solving this. But I got no help, sorry.

    Hi KStover05,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an issue when trying to sync your iPhone. The article linked below describes why those alert messages appear and how to resolve issues related to them.

  • HT5029 Followed direction for subscribed calendars and iCloud calendar, but does work

i have subscribed to the US Holiday calendar in iCal, i have set the location to iCloud as directed above. However it still does not show up on my iCloud calendar. How do i fix this?

    yes all calendars are selected
    and under
    "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
nothing in the menu Account is clickable (inactive or something)
so I cant check or change anything there.
    and under Calendars
there are only the following options:
Show all calendars / Hide all calendars
iCloud calendars   (and all these are checked/selected)
    Subscribed calendars ( -  "  - )
    Birthdays     (selected)
Show denied activities (which I have marked off or No)

  • Outlook and iCloud Calendar Syncing

My workplace uses an outlook exchange based email and calendar service, and i have to use this to manage my meetings and whatnot. Is there some way I can sync this with my icloud calendar in order to share it with other icloud users?
    3rd Gen iPad, iOS 5.1
    Thanks

Hi - I had a look at the article, but that just says that they are not able to work together or sync.
Are there any third party solutions to this?
I just want to be able to see the tasks that I have in my Exchange account sync with Iphone (which is fine), but then also sync with iCloud.com (which I cant do - iCloud cannot see any Exchange related data I think).
    Any work arounds?
    Thanks

  • HT1277 gmail and ical calendar

If I delete a calendar from the iCal app on my macbook, and that calendar is one that is from my gmail account, does it also delete from the gmail account?

I can think of two things to try and you might have to do both of them.
    1) in system preferences choose the Internet Accounts tab and delete your Gmail account. (You may have to first remove that gmail account from the Mail program in Mail Preferences) Once you’ve done this add the Gmail account back to Internet Accounts. You won’t lose any data because it is all on the server.
    2) if you have set up the two factor security on Google (so that any changes require confirmation via SMS) you may have to temporarily remove it. I had a similar problem with Google and wound up having to do this and then do step 1. That solved the problem but from my understanding, I shouldn’t have been forced to remove the 2 factor security to do it.
