Gmail and Mail error

I can view my mails on my mac. I hav 2 gmail account. My inbox works great. But the outbox of the first doesn't work. I've used all preferences the same.
what else can it be? Google doesn't tell me the good solution.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but I think I have a similar problem. All of a sudden last night I am only able to retrieve email from one of my two Gmail accounts. The settings are the same except for the account name (of course). If I go into Gmail preferences and change the POP settings to "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)", Mail will download everything, but after it completes, I cannot receive any new mail from that point on. It only does this for one of my Gmail accounts. The other works fine.

  • Problems with Gmail and Mail App

Up until now, my gmail account (with 2 step log-in) has worked fine on my iPhone.
Today - when refreshing mail, I got a pop-up saying that the username and password were incorrect and mail couldn't be retrieved from the imap server at Google.  So...I went to my account settings on google - revoked the existing application specific password for my iPhone mail and then generated a new one.  When I entered it on the settings screen on my iPhone, I got the same message - u/p incorrect!
I deleted my gmail account and started over...same thing!!
Now, I have no access to mail and I can't figure out what to try next!
    Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks!

Well...after entering 6 different app-specific passwords and performing 3 separate reboots...mail is back up and running.  Next time I'll probably try putting my right foot in the air and spinning around in my chair 3.5 times...stupid Google!

  • Wildblue, gMail, and Mail

My connection to the internet is via satellite, with Wildblue. Just this week, Wildblue converted their email service to Google's gMail, and I'm having problems.
In the past, using Mail for POP3 service with Wildblue, Yahoo, and a local ISP, I was able to download my incoming mail to any number of computers. The mail remained on the ISP's server, and when I used Mail to log in with my PowerBook, it would pick up whatever messages it hadn't seen before, regardless of whether I had picked them up earlier on my G5 desktop machine.
This still works with my Yahoo POP account, as well as with my local ISP POP account, but it's not working now with gMail. If I pick up messages on the desktop machine first, Mail on the laptop doesn't see them. They're still there on the gMail server, and I have access to them via the web interface, but they seem to be flagged as having already been downloaded. In addition, none of the messages on the gMail server show up when I invoke Account Info (command-i) in Mail.
I really need to get this capablity back. According to Wildblue, IMAP is not an option. Is there some setting somewhere that I might have missed, either in Mail or at the gMail site? Or, is Mail just not capapble of playing well with gMail?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

    I encountered the same issue.
POP3 access in GMail is really designed (as far as I can see) for access via a single client; it doesn't play well with multiple POP3 clients accessing the one mailbox.
There are some options you can toggle, assuming you have full access to the GMail settings.
The first would be to toggle the POP3 setting to ensure 'Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)' is selected rather than 'Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on' - this will go part way to ensure both POP3 clients have access to all mail.
Secondly, you will also want to toggle the setting for what happens to mail once it's accessed by a POp3 client, you can choose here between 'leaving in Inbox', 'Archiving' which drops mail into the 'All Mail' folder and removes it from the Inbox and finally 'Delete' which will drop the mails into the trash.
Dependent on how you use your mail, there is another option that might be useful and this is how I decided to approach things. My iMac at home is set at standard POP3 though 'Mail', for my Macbook I use an application called 'Mailplane' which provides a fully featured front end to GMail. I therefore have full access to all my mail in GMail from my Macbook without battling the POP3 mail system - it might do the job for you?

  • Is there an incompatibility between Gmail and mail 1.3?

I created a new Gmail account for my mother on her eMac running 10.3.9 and Mail 1.3
I followed the gmail instructions for smtp and Imac. I also tried setting it up as Pop, either way I was unable to send or receive mail.
Is there any special port setting required? any special SSL? It goes through port 25

I finally found the replies in Gmail help. There is no problem.
    You need the correct ports.

  • Syncing Gmail and Mail (iOS and Mac OSX

I receive Gmail through Mail on my iPad, iMac. and MacBook Pro. Opening an email on one device and discarding it has no effect on other devices. The mail will appear there also and wait for me to review and discard all over again. This stopped being fun on the iPad a few thousand emails ago, since there is no gang-delete function. (What was Apple thinking?)
Fortunately, I just learned of the Move button workaround for mass mail extinction. But the underlying problem remains. I'd like Mail to understand if I have already tossed an email downloaded from Gmail onto another Apple device. I want to stay in Mail for all my email management and avoid processing any mail on Google.
My Gmail accounts are set to iMAP, incidentally (the appropriate choice, according to Google, for allowing this kind of syncing).
Is there some setting in Gmail I need to tweak? Or do Google and Apple actually exist in separate and mutually repellant universes?
    TIA

  • Gmail and Mail -- specific question

I use Gmail as my default mail service, but I would like to take advantage of the built-in "email this file" options in OS X. However, I don't want Mail to try to download all my messages and download all the attachments etc of email that I've already seen and archived in the web version of Gmail. I just want to be able to send and not receive in Mail.
Additionally, when I had Gmail set up for POP use, I wasn't able to send email from Mail. Only receive.
Thanks in advance for any replies!
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

But anyway, both ways can work, and the former I was
told about is in use right now.
Beware, however, that both ways are not equivalent. If you leave POP download enabled in Gmail, all mail that arrives there will keep accumulating, waiting for some POP mail client to download it...
Now, let's suppose that a few months from now, when you no longer remember this thread, you create a new account in Mail and some day you decide to manually check for your mail and click the Get Mail button in the toolbar. What do you think would happen then? Hint: you're going to get a really big surprise...

This can be a problem with the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]

  • Gmail and Mail

I was wondering if someone could help me configure my Mail settings, so that whatever I do in the Mail application, will be mimicked online by the Gmail account.
Right now when I delete an e-mail message in Mail, it still stays on the Gmail online, making it really difficult to find things when I need to.
I also can't seem to be able to create folders for my Gmail account in Mail and was hoping that someone could help me change the settings in Mail so that I can do that!
    Thanks!

    Dr.Gerd,
I would recommend setting up your gmail account with imap settings. Instructions found here: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=81379

  • Configuring Apple Mail client to work with gmail and mail relays

I have a gmail account [email protected] and am successfully using this account from both my macbookpro an iphone.
I also have an e-mail relay account [email protected] I have successfully configured the email relay to send mail to [email protected] and get it fine on my mail client. My problem is that when I reply to these emails or create fresh e-mails, I'd like it to use the address [email protected] not [email protected] When I used to use Eudora, there was a setting in the account configuration screen called "reply to" this would change the reply to email account to whatever I wanted, in this case, [email protected] I have scoured the mail documentation and realize that I am missing something simple. I would appreciate any assistance with configuration settings necessary to have my relay alias show-up on my mail headings.
    thanks
    Art

The first thing to do is to log into the Gmail web site and configure your account so that it allows you to send mail from [email protected]
Then configure your account in Mail so that the Email Address is [email protected] That should do it. This is better than setting a reply-to because the mail will really be from [email protected] and not [email protected]
If you want, you can put both [email protected] and [email protected] in the Email Address (separated with a comma) in which case Mail will show a popup menu labeled From below the Subject. You can then select which address the message should be from.

  • Gmail and Mail.app outgoing server

I can receive mails from Gmail in the Mail application...but I can't seem to send them.
I've configured the outgoing server as smtp.gmail.com-- is this incorrect?
Help is, as always, greatly appreciated.
    Jonathan

Most likely you will need to use the outgoing (SMTP) mail server of your ISP. If Google is your mail ISP, then to to their site and find out the correct address of their outgoing mail server and how you configure your mail application correctly. You may need to change a port number and/or configure how you authenticate to the outgoing mail server.

  • HT6030 gmail and mail since the latest update

Anyone having problems since the latest update on mail my mail and gmail stopped syncing?

I'm having issues still. Same issue that I had right after installing Mavericks. There is something screwed up with the accounts. When I don't have a google account configured system works as normal - at normal speed etc. But, when I create a google account there are numerous issues.
    1. The mail messages and notes don't set up. They are in a constant "loading" state until I force quit the internet accounts process through activity monitor. Rarely it does come up with a message saying that it could not connect to the IMAP server. See 1st picture
If I leave the account set up with no mail, notes or message then the OS will still push for updates from the server or at least that's what I think is happening. In anycase the com.apple.mailserviceagent keeps opening and each time it does it takes up 90+ %CPU and the whole system comes to a complete stop until I go into Activity Monitor and shut down the process. see 2nd picture
Once I shut down these 2 specific processes the computer runs just fine. These shots were taken after the Mail update. Didn't have these issues with Mountain lion - mail just worked (which is what I expect from Apple). And I didn't have any problems setting up Airmail, which is what I've been using since i installed Mavericks.

  • Gmail and Mail app

I'm coming from a Windows 7 machine and Outlook.  Gmail is my primary email.  Here are my questions:
    1.  How do I access other mailboxes other than 'inbox' and 'trash'?
    2.  I have custom filters set up in gmail to keep certain emails out of my inbox.  They are ending up in my Mac email inbox anyway.
    3.  Some of my sent emails are being copied to my inbox.
Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Help with gmail and mail

Hi new to the mac when i put my gmail account into mail it keeps trying to download all my old mail as new, is there anyway I can stop it and just get the mail from now on in the app?

If you are accessing Gmail via IMAP: no. If you are accessing it via POP, then
    1) Sign in to Gmail.
    2) Click "Settings" at the top of any Gmail page,
    3) click "Forwarding and POP/IMAP"
    4) select the option "Enable POP for *mail that arrives from now on*"
    Good computing.
