Gmail and other pop3 accounts isues

Hi, I have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen 8gb with firmware 4.1
I synced it up with Outlook 2010 from within iTunes and it turned my gmail pop3 account into an imap account. When i deleted old mails that I WANTED to keep on my gmail web account, but did not need to be taking up space on the iPod, they were in fact moved to the trash folder in my gmail web account. After I turned it back into a regular pop3 account again (like it should have been in the first place) I am NOW having an issue of not receiving the emails on both the iPod device and in Outlook on my computer. It seems that whichever one happens to check for new mail first is the one that gets to download it, while the other machine never does! I am having this problem with pop3 on two other email accounts besides gmail as well. Am I missing something or is this a bug?

nope, that was the first thing i checked. seems to only be happening with gmail accounts. i have my gmail set up with pop3 and fetch the mail on my laptop with outlook. but the ipod does not see the new mail after outlook receives it and vice versa. any way to fix this? other pop3 accounts work fine with both.

  • FB and Other Web Accounts Syncing

I have a question that because of the many Facebook albums I have published has a lot of risk to answer by experimentation.  That is when I am remote with my MBP, and do not have the disk with the complete Library, but rather am creating a New Library for later merging into the complete one, it concerns me that were I to upload a new Facebook Album, it might also sync every prior library to this small library on my internal drive.  That would not be desireable!
I ask this because it has seemed that any new album added to FB via other means are synced to the main library, regardless of what Preference setting as to auto syncing has been selected.
Has anyone any experience to shed light on this?  My solution has been to export a few images, and upload them outside of Aperture, while never having any FB account set up for this onboard Library.

We use the Apple mail server to get e-mails from our gmail and comcast mail accounts. Recently we have been getting spam that claims to be sent to a gmail address, but when I check that address directly, there is no such e-mail, either in the inbox or in the spam folder. Is it possible to bypass the gmail account and send directly to the Apple mail server, spoofing the gmail address?

Maybe some info here for you about spoofing. (and much additional info)

  • I am at a loss: bcc removal and messages appearing on other POP3 accounts!

    Greetings!
2 problems with Mail (version 4.2 1077 - Mac OS Snow Leopard 10.6.2)
    1. For the life of me, I do recall at some point recently making my mail bcc to myself (I just wanted to make sure of what some attachments looked like to their destination). Works, BUT now I am not sure how to remove that automatic bcc without having to do it "manually" everytime I send mail!
    2. I have now for a while (and since way BEFORE I effected the automatic bcc to myself) had my messages - FROM my MobileMe address, sent from my MacBookPro - appear in an unrelated POP3 mail account on my other computers, Windows machines (Windows 7using Windows Live Mail, Windows XP using Outlook Express). It s totally eerie: my Mac (MobileMe) Mail seems to be cc'd to that POP3 account. I am wondering HOW I got into that fix.. My fault I am sure. Can't find how to UNDO it...
    Help will be appreciated!

  • Mail stopped recognizing my gmail and other, non-iCloud, accounts.  Anyone else have this problem?  No issue with the same software installed on my MacBook Air.

Mid morning, before Christmas, my iMac stopped downloading all mail from gmail and my personal domain. Only the me.com account is still functioning.  Thankfully I am able to access my mail on my MacBook Air but would like to get the problem resolved on my main computer.  Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi Susan,
Can you loginto gMail's Webmail in a browser using the same login credentials?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
    Gmail send but not receive...
Here are two steps that have come in handy in related situations
    1) login to gmail on your computer or device via a web browser
    2) once logged in successfully, go to this URL to unlock:
    https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptch
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • OTHER POP3 ACCOUNTS USING OUTLOOK

I am so frustrated because I have several business related pop3 email accounts that I use, but with Verizon DSL I have not been able to send and receive through those accounts.
DOES ANYONE know what it takes to set up pop3 accounts thru Verizon/Outlook where they will work?
I have never had problems with other service providers. I feel crippled by not being able to use my various pop3 accounts.

    1. Are you having issues with sending or issues with receiving? These are usually entirely separate issues.
    2. What error are you getting?

  • ICloud Mail and other Email Accounts

I searched the discussion and I couldn't find a solution to my problem so I am hoping that someone on here has found a way to fix this iCloud issue.
On my MobileMe account that I had before iCloud I had the mail set up to access all of my other Email accounts (6) in total. worked great never had a problem and I had one source for all of my Emails. I understand this is not the way iCloud works but here is my problem.
I migrated my MobileMe account to ICloud and for some reason it still kept accessing all of my other Email accounts and consolidating them in my ICloud mail. (no I do not have the other accounts set to forward to iCloud, iCloud was accessing them and downloading the messages.) Now about a week ago that all stopped. When I checked on the discussions here I realized that iCloud was not suppose to work with the other Email accounts but for some strange reason it did for a while. That is fine, I then setup all of my Email accounts on my iPhone, iPad and Mac as IMAP accounts and everything was working fine again.
Today for some unknown reason iCloud is accessing my accounts again and I just received hundreds of unread Emails (the last few days worth) from my other Email accounts. I understand there is no way to access your Email settings on iCloud but has anyone had a simialar problem, and if so how the heck do you get that link to the other Email accounts out of iCloud mail. I am considering just cancelling or deleting my iCloud account and setting up a new one if I can't find a way to fix this, it maybe my only option.

I'm having the same issue and it's driving me nuts.
For those who don't understand the question, here's the deal.  Prior to the unveiling of iCloud, MobileMe users had a feature available of pulling email from other, non-MobileMe pop accounts into their MobileMe inbox.  There was a setup screen under preferences within MobileMe that allowed you to specify the server, username, password, etc for non-MobileMe accounts.  Once set up, the incoming email from those account(s) would be delivered into your MobileMe inbox.  Forwarding did NOT need to be set up in the other accounts (in fact, if it was, you'd get everything twice).  Once set up, you could even color code incoming messages based on which account they were delivered from.
I personally set up three other email accounts this way as it was convienet to check all my email in one in box.  Nice.
So.... here's the issue.  When MobileMe migrated to iCloud, the FUNCTION described above migrated over too and REMAINED IN EFFECT, but the ability to MANAGE THE FUNCTION and modify the other accounts went away.  So, anyone who had other email accounts set up (like I have) is still receiving email from those accounts into our iCloud inboxes, but we have no ability to manage those other accounts.  If you want to stop the delivery of email from one or more of the other accounts, you can't.  If you want to adjust the settings of any of the other accounts, you can't.  If the username or password for one of the other accounts changes, then the delivery breaks and you can't fix it.  You can't influnce how this feature behaves at all because the settings interface has been taken away.
It's extrememly frustrating to have a "feature" active that you can't manage or turn off.
    Hey Apple... HELP!

  • "Take All Accounts Online" [Outgoing SMTP settings for GMail and other?]

i am having issues with outgoing server settings on my Desktop machine which means that business email that i /thought/ went out in the morning gets hung up and i don't know this happened until i get a prompt showing the email and it asks if i want to edit the message or try and resend using the same server.
Edit Message, Try with Selected Server
this happens on the desktop machine running Lion with my Website Based Email (i.e. i send a message and it gets hung up in Sent folder trying to go out for like five or ten minutes and then i get a prompt showing the email asking what i want to do).
however, i am also seeing an error on the iCloud account and am always having to try to take GMail "Online" on the desktop which is a wired connection. when i run Connection Doctor i get a "Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed. Verify that username and password are correct".
in the past i used to get an SSL error so i just UNCHECKED this option in SMTP and i have taken off App Specific Passwords in GMail because i had to enter this so many times when something changed (like at least three times on 3 different devices for each email client since i have two b/c i can/t just rely onMac Mail...).
anyway, is there a reason why i have to take all my Accounts online all the time?
should i keep SSL unchecked on everything?
should i check or uncheck USE THIS ACCOUNT ONLY?
is there a TRASH THE CACHE option for Mac Mail?
perhaps i should migrate to another email client?
thanks for any advice even anything that will get me up and running temporarily so my email goes out and in.

Roger's might have changed its email configuration. Contact their help desk to ask for assistance.

  • Can't set up "other" POP3 account on Casio Brigage

I'm having the same trouble as in this old thread:
    https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/392330#392330
Except it's on my Casio Gz'One Brigade.
The IMAP and POP port settings are switched, and the keyboard doesn't respond when you try to set the correct port settings for my POP account (110/587).
Any clues?  From reading that old thread, somehow you have to kick the phone into 123 mode rather than abc mode.  But how do you do that?

    Still no answer on this.
I notice that the entry input mode on the POP3 port entry screen is "123" not "abc".  So that doesn't seem to be the problem.  The problem is that the POP entry only lists the IMAP ports.  And the IMAP entry only lists the POP ports.
And you can push keys all day long, but all you can do is delete the default port entered.  You can't enter different numbers (i.e., the "110" I want for my POP account).
It worked fine on the original Mobile Email program.  But not on this upgrade.  I guess that means I should try to delete the upgrade and reinstall the older program.  But this upgrade is a lot more functional.

  • Gmail and other IMAP, smart mailbox for inboxes

    Hello,
I have Mavericks, use Mail.app, including 4 active email accounts. I have a smart mailbox that includes any message from 3 of the 4 account inboxes, and I've been using this setup since Snow Leopard. After upgrading to Mavericks, this smart mailbox no longer works properly.
So 2 of the 3 mailboxes included in the smart mailbox are gmail, the third is non-gmail IMAP. The smart mailbox does include the correct messages from all three inboxes together, but it lists the gmail boxes as being from archive (AKA All Mail) instead of Inbox. Apparently Mail.app is doing a message matching between those emails, and preferring the "all mail" version over the inbox version. This didn't seem to be more than an annoyance at first, until I discovered that I can't archive emails from the smart mailbox: I have to go directly to the inbox to archive them, because calling "archive" on an "all mail" message is a No-op.
I beleive this problem is not specific to smart mailboxes, because it happens on search results as well. So
    Select gmail inbox
search for a sender in that mailbox only
    select some of those messages
    click "archive"
The effect is that the messages will disappaer from the current search result, but as soon as I dismiss the search I can see the messages are still in the inbox.
Clearly the enhanced gmail integration was done hastily here.
I don't know if there is a workaround here. Apple must fix!

Oh, and there was one other issue I forgot to mention. When I used this arrangement before Mavericks, the smart mailbox pointing at my inboxes would "live update", so if new mail was received in an inbox and I was looking at the smart mailbox, it would update immediately. This functionality is no longer there.
