Gmail app issues on iPad 2

Hello All,
I have been using the stand-alone Gmail app on my iPad 2 for several months without any issues until recently. When I begin composing a new email, about 10 to 20 seconds into typing, an "X" appears over the horizontal lines (pull down folder list) at the top left of the screen. It essentially locks up and requires me to either save as a draft or discard the email. I have reinstalled the app a few times, but it doesn't help. Any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it? It does not happen on my iPhone using the same account.
Thanks much for any help in advance!

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
If that doesn't work, you may need to seek assistance from the app vendor.
For what it is worth, I tried the app some time back (a year or two?) and found it to be rather unreliable.

  • Does the Gmail app in the iPAD use cookies to keep track of passwords?

    Hi All
I get this, "does your browser clear cookies, if so you will need to provide a verification again next time" every time I use the Gmail app in my iPad.
I enter the code they send me and click on the "Trusted computer" check box. But I have to sign in with the code Google sends me via SMS or calls me with the numeric code each time now. I don't think there's a way to delete cookies in the iPAD is there? I looked at the mail settings and in Safari I keep the cookies. Even though the app shows in settings there's no extra user info I can enter there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Does she have her own iCloud account?  You can have more than one iCloud account installed on a device, and some users install a secondary iCloud account which is common to others in the family to allow "Find My iPhone" to be used from one account while keeping separate iCloud contacts, mail, etc.
But with iOS 7 although you can still have multiple iCloud accounts installed, only the "primary" iCloud account supports "Find my iPhone".  So if her iCloud account is the primary, you can no longer track her from your iCloud account.  Is that what happened in your case?

  • Gmail App Issue with picture embed in mail body

    Hi,
I am an iphone 5 user and have installed the Gmail app from google inc. . But there seems to be an issue with sending emails.
If a new email is composed with a picture copied from the camera roll or other app in phone and pasted onto the email body in the gmail app,
and sent out, the email body gets stripped off the embedded picture.
The sent email in the 'Sent' folder of Gmail app does not display the embedded picture. Is this a known issue with the Gmail app?
    Is there any resolution?

    Hi.,
First you have to store image in MIME Repository. , then use HTM  type to send mail .,
    check these : [Send Picture in body of Email|Send an picture to body of an email;
    and  [Send HTML mail with image|Re: Send HTML mail with image;
    hope this helps u.,
    Thanks & regards,

  • How do I save video attachments in gmail app on ipad?

I am using the gmail app on my ipad and cannot figure out how to save a .mov video (or any other format for that matter) that is attached to a gmail email message.
When I tap and hold the video attachment icon I only get the option to save, add to reading list, and open in safari.  There is no option to save it to camera roll or open it in another app (like icloud or dropbox etc.)
I want to add it to my camera roll.
I can save the video attachment easily on my ibook and my android phone using the gmail app for those devices but not on the ipad.  Thanks.

    1. Tie your gmail account to the mail app on the iPad
    2. pull up the email in the apple mail app once you've connected the gmail account to the app
    3. Tap the video to download the video
    4. Once downloaded, press and hold your finger on the video for about two seconds
    5. a list of options will open, click save to videos

  • TS2621 My gmail app is frozen on my iPad 2. This occurred after a power outage. I can only access gmail by going in through google. He

Please help.  My gmail app on my iPad 2,  has been frozen since a power outage that occurred last week.I am a verizon fios customer. I tried to correct this problem through settings without success. Thanks for any info you can share.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home button (bottom centre) and Sleep/Wake button (top edge, right) down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

  • It not open in from gmail app only from Safari. Why?

I have adobe reader on my iPad but can only open in from Safari. Can't open from gmail App neither from iPad mail. I tried everything!

    Hi,
That is a limitation of the Gmail app on iPad, wherein it doesn't expose the Open In command.  What you could do, though, is open the PDF in Safari (by clicking the little 'circle' button at the bottom right of the PDF view in Gmail), and then select Open.
    Hope this helps.

  • Attachments in gmail app on iPad

I've tried using the new app for gmail on my ipad - it has a white envelope edged in red: sorry, I don't even know how to describe it technically, but I think it's the Google app not the Apple app. Anyway, I hated it so ditched it and started using once again the Apple app for Google installed on the ipad (white envelope on blue cloud). The major disadvantage of the Apple app is that I cannot work out how to add an attachment. Am I missing something or can it just not be done?

  • Keynote remote will not pair with ipad after update to 10.7.2-bluetooth issue or remote app issue?

Noticed keynote remote will not pair after updating.  Bluetooth light flashes a couple of times then goes off.  I'm wondering if it's a bluetooth issue or a keynote remote app issue.
    Any suggestions or remedies?
    thanks

    Then again, it may not.
I've tried all the things recommended in the Apple KB article, and it doesn't work.  Mulderscully is right, in the recent iOS 5 upgrade, Bluetooth is not turned on (at least, its symbol is not visible) from within Keynote even if you turned it on in the Settings menu.  Posts in another thread recommended using another app to establish a Bluetooth connection between the iPad and iPod (I used Touch Rummy), then switching back to Keynote and Keynote Remote.  This does work for me, but it is an awkward workaround.  Shouldn't 'It just work'?

  • Safari ios7 issues on iPad Air - can't open new tabs - + sign closes app

Safari ios7 issues on iPad Air - can't open new tabs or view other tabs.
The + sign just closes the app every single time!
In some cases, the back and forward buttons don't work.
It's driving me crazy becuase if the webpage I'm on opens and ad or tab that I don't want to look at, I can't close it and go back, I have to retype the web address in and find where I was on the site!

I, too, tried all the fixes...nothing worked.
Found another thread on this forum and looks like a lot of us are having same problem.
Next time it happens, go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/ABOUT and check to see it there is a "low memory" incident report.
    If there is:
See the discussion thread "iPad Air Low Memory Crashes".
Seems to be common....this could turn into a HUGH issue.

  • Airplay does not recognise my Pioneer vsx-1122-k on my iPad, I can control my receiver via the pioneer app on my iPad so it is just airplay not a connetivity issue.  My Panasonic Stereo is recognised on Airplay.

Since upgrading to the latest IOS, Airplay does not recognise my Pioneer vsx-1122-k on my iPad, I can control my receiver via the pioneer app on my iPad so it is just airplay not a connectivity issue.  My Panasonic Stereo is recognised on Airplay.

    Hi
I don't know if you're still having this issue but there is a way round it as I'm having the same troubles.
I've just spoken to Apple about it and found out:
    – If you have a Mac made before Mid-2011, it doesn't have a piece of hardware needed to take advantage of the 'Airplay mirroring'
    – So you can update to a later version 10.6.8+ but this won't help at all
    The way round it:
    – Download 'Airfoil' and install this
    – You can then play music from any defined source (Spotify, Quicktime etc) through your Airplay connected speakers
So sadly, for those have a Mac from before Mid-2011 there's isn't an option that's as easy as Option-click on the sound icon to switch to Airplay speakers.
Hope that helps, I can now get on with the rest of my day now after sorting this out.
    Adam
