Gmail being Redirected in Safari

Super odd...so I'm at the Detroit airport yesterday and I go to access my Gmail. There was no available WiFi network, I was still on EDGE, and a popup came up in Safari when I went to gmail.com. I didn't read it, foolishly, but it mentioned something about a security certificate. I know, I should have read it.
I was redirected to https://dtw-mac.boingo.aero/login?dst=https%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2Fs%2 F and asked to buy a WiFi plan, which I thought was odd because, again, I was still on EDGE, not on WiFi. I went in and turned WiFi off, still getting the redirect. I thought, okay, maybe somehow AT&T and the Detroit airport have a deal here where they force you to choose a plan.
I got back to Pittsburgh, far from the airport, and though I can get to other websites just fine, I can't get to Gmail.
It keeps redirecting me to https://dtw-mac.boingo.aero/login?dst=https%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2Fs%2 F
Any ideas? Super annoying not being able to get to my Gmail on my phone.

That's what I thought, so I cleared my Cookies, Cache and History. Didn't work. Knowing that Gmail uses HTML 5 to save info directly to your machine/phone I deleted all the databases on the iPhone as well and I'm still getting this problem.

I can no longer sign in to You Tube app.  I am always directed to website.  I can log in there, but not in the app.  Can anyone help me out of this loop?

I have used the solution below to fix mine and others that have run into this issue.
Start --> Programs --> Accessories (Right Click on Command Prompt) --> Run as Administrator
then type in:  "Netsh winsock reset"  (-without the quotes-)
Hit enter, restart PC, iCloud For PC should now connect without any server errors
(This solutions will work in some instances when trying to fix errors associated when you are unable to connect to iTunes also.)

  • As of this morning, I am being redirected to uk.gomeo when i click on google search results in Safari. Do I have a virus?

    Hi,
First time poster and very non-techy person here. I am being redirected to urls starting "uk.gomeo..." when clicking on Google search results in Safari. Quick search on this seems to suggest I have a virus. Not sure what to do or how to get rid of it. Not sure what could have caused it either. Downloaded Acrobat update couple of days ago which took hours, and Twitter account was hacked about a week ago. All software updates up to date. Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sorry editing that way doesn't work anymore in Lion. But you can look and see if there are any google entries in it. If there are not any google entries you can ignore my posts. If there are try this:
    Open terminal
    sudo nano /etc/hosts
When prompted for the sudo password - The correct password is your own (the password of the user logged into OS X, also the password you provide when doing system updates and so on).
now you can delete the line(s) that contain google and save.
Using your arrow keys go to the line containing google. Delete the line. Do the same for all lines containig google.
if you have a problem deleting, do a control-x to exit, and reply n to the modified buffer question. To save your changes do a  control-o and hit enter , then do a control-x to quit.
Note: normally you never edit the hosts file, but if you see google entries in it then a malware programs has added them. It has been happening with a bogus flash update, that installs flash and asks for your system password. SOmething that seem quite normal when installing software. This bogus flash update makes the hosts modifications adding their own IP adrress for google.

    Dee....
    It's not a virus.
Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is redirecting your browser. Use Open DNS to avoid that. Open DNS adds security and anti phishing filters and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these numbers exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
    Then click OK.

Chances are you mis-typed a character in the Wifi password and the devices saved that information.  Now whenever you try to connect the device refers to the wrong password and the Jetpack does not accept your connection.  Tell your devices to forget the wireless connection and start over.
Once you enter the proper WiFi credentials the Jetpack will allow you to connect.

  • New mac 5 days old daughter accessed a movie website and now keep being redirected to this site. Have erased her as user and tried to restore factory settings. Now computer running Internet recovery and I am lost. Please help

New Mac only 5 days old. Daughter accessed a movie website and now popups keep appearing and unable to access any other Internet sites without being redirected. Have deleted her as a user and then tried to restore to factory settings. I did something wrong and it is now doing an Internet recovery. Help I am completly lost and don't know what I am doing.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • IOS CWA Redirect - ISE - Safari

I do not believe I can be the only one with this issue, not when I have it at two sites and with the original installs being done by different people.
Is anyone else having issues with Safari properly being redirected to ISE CWA by IOS redirection?
I have this issue on 3750X for wired clients, and on a 3850 NGWC for wireless clients.  What makes this unique is that the only thing similar to this deployment is the Macbooks running with Safari.
My troubleshooting seems to point at an issue with Safari not liking the redirect based upon the switch(3850,3750X) certificate.  Firefox and Chrome both work without issues on the test Macbooks.  I'm unable to find anything in the Bugtoolkit about it.
If using Safari on Cisco switch for CWA is unsupported, please provide a link to Cisco document detailing it.

This issue has been resolved.  It turned out that the Macbook was trying to do a crl download to confirm that the certificate was valid.  I am pretty sure it was becuase the cheapest GoDaddy certificate was used and the intermediate certificate isn't always found in the default Mac certificate store.  Firefox works because they handle CRL checks differently.
I had two different resolutions as I had the problem at two different customers/sites.
First test was allowing access to crl.godaddy.com.  After I excluded this IP address from the redirect and permitted it in the dACL - Safari was able to correctly redirect to the CWA portal page.
At another site, due to the centralized management of the Macbooks, we utilized Mac OS X Server to create a profile in Profile Manager that included the GoDaddy Intermediate certificate and pushed that out to all macbooks to resolve the issue.
In addition - and worthy of note.  If you are doing posturing and the ISE certificate is not trusted on Apple, the same sort of CRL check will occur and the NAC Agent will never posture the endpoint.
tl;dr - Doublecheck Certificate trust settings on Apple because they are evil.

  • Email redirection - not all emails being redirected

    Running Exchange 2010
Set all emails from mailbox A to redirect to mailbox B but it is not working correctly. Mailbox A has several Aliases and one of them is a self generating email generated from itself to itself when someone makes an enquiry on their website.
For clarity the email alias in question is called sales, when someone submits a request on their website then sales sends an email to sales and it ends up in Mailbox A (IMO Sales should be its own mailbox as having it tagged onto a users mailbox who has holidays is not good practice). All other emails except the ones that go to sales are being redirected and I can't see why
    Help?
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

Who is your email provider? I would check the settings for your email online (ie. Gmail settings). I would also go to the Mail menu- preferences and look through there in your account for anything that might be causing this.

  • Websites being redirected to yandex.ru

I am having a problem as of yesterday.  A lot of the websites I have been trying to visit have been redirected to yandex.ru.  I am running Chrome on a 15" MacBook Pro with Lion.  the sites that are being redirected are very random, but they consistently redirect.  For example, MSN.com always loads fine, but trying to click on a link within msn.com from yardbarker.com redirects to yandex.ru.
It doesn't matter whether I access the sites through a search engine or directly on the google omnibox, the sites are always redirected before completely loaded.  It is also consistent on other browsers (Safari and Firefox).  I have cleared all caches, cookies, extensions, deleted extra search engines, etc, and I have tried using other DNS addresses provided by OpenDNS.   None of those things worked.
I thought it might be a problem with my ISP.  I am living in Jordan for work, so who knows what kind of potentially shady goings-on are happening, but I asked a friend using the same ISP and DNS addresses to check the sites I was having trouble with, and they loaded fine for him.
I have used ClamXav and MacScan 2, and no problems were reported.  I reset my router to factory settings, and I am still having the same trouble.  All of the devices we use on the local network are also being redirected.  My wife's macbook, my iPhone, and our iPad are all being affected.
I am using a Wimax router through a 3.5G HSPA connection with an airport Extreme attached via ethernet to extend the signal. I tried to connect to the Wimax router directly and still had the same issue.  I tried logging in as a guest, using Safari, and was redirected as well. Not sure what to do next.
Any counsel would be thoroughly appreciated.

Temporary solution proposed by zain technical support after a big fight over the phone... (works just fine)
Add yandex.ru to the List of blocked websites under the settings/options menu in the security section, this needs to be done for each browser you use. Whether ur cache is cleared or not, you will be able to avoid the sudden redirection to yandex. Your browser will show a notification that yandex has been blocked (it will block it three attempts of redirection, I took the three yandex.ru/*********** blocked sites and added them in full to the list of blocked sites under the security section in each and every browser on every single device accessing the hspa+ gateway)
My browsing is a **** lot easier now, speed though went a little down, not a problem for me as long as I can get things done)
Tech support promised a permanent solution the coming week.
I still haven't had the chance to try the VPN option. Will give it a shot and update the thread

  • Views for list web parts. Is there a way to allow users to change the view for a list web part without being redirected?

    Hi,
I added a list view web part into a SharePoint 2013 page and it  is working as expected, except for one thing.
I have enabled the option for the user to change the view for the web part. However when the user changes it, the user is redirected away from the page containing the web part, to the URL of the list itself.
Is there a way to circumvent this issue so when the user selects a different view it updates the listing in the web part itself, rather than the user being redirected?
Thanks in advance for the help.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hi,
Please understand that one page can only display one view. You could find it out by observing the Address in browser when switching among different views for a list.
If you would like to change the view of a list web part, you could go to web part propertites > Select view and configure it.

  • How do I stop people from being redirected from my organization's website to another with a similar address and copied content (not a problem on IE or Chrome)?

    My organization's website is: www.wallingfordseniors.org
Many people when using Firefox are being redirected to another website (www.wallingfordsseniors.org) which has lifted our content verbatim. Even when typing in our address, people get sent to the other one. This other website is being operated by an unknown entity and the hosting company has no contact information we can find to send a DMCA violation letter to. Anyway to keep people from going to the other site? For now all the links are the same but we are concerned that they will mess with our link to submit donations and route money to themselves with our donors thinking they are giving to us. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    -Javier

It depends on how it's happening. For example:
    * DNS Server glitch (OS or router level): however, you would expect the same result in all browsers
    * Custom DNS/proxy setting in Firefox - users can check their connection settings as described in this article: [[Advanced settings for accessibility, browsing, system defaults, network, updates, and encryption]] (network mini-tab under Advanced settings)
    * Non-default search engine plugin -- if the user puts a space in the domain -- that doesn't display search results normally: user can make sure Google is selected
    * Hijacked by a browser extension: user can try Firefox's Safe Mode
    * Redirect hacked into your website (in .htaccess or a PHP/JSP/ASPX file under certain circumstances)
Once the wrong address is in Firefox's history, for example from making a typo once, users may find it hard to notice the difference when given autocomplete suggestions.
Hopefully you can track it down.

    Hello Simeon.
If a site is hacked or infected, the best course of action is to immediately stop using it. On the other hand, it seems to be working fine for me. You may be having a problem with some extension that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all extension s (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

i got a message in gmail "this version of Safari is no longer supported.  Pls upgrade to a supported browser."  When I click on 'supported browser' it takes me to Apple's Safari site but there is no 'upgrade now' button.  What am I missing?

Google seem to have decided in the last week or so that Safari 5.x, which is the newest Safari version available for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) is "not supported" any more, even though there are many reasons for staying with these OS X versions.
Try this (at your own risk, but it works for me), as it seems to remove the message by tricking Gmail into thinking your Safari version is newer:
    -- Quit Safari
-- Locate the following file (location depends on your OS X version):
    OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/WebKit2.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.pl ist
OS X 10.5 Leopard and older:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist
-- Drag the file to your Mac's desktop to make a copy. Also make a safe copy somewhere else eg your Documents folder, as if you lose or mess up the file Safari will not launch at all. Having a backup browser is also recommended.
-- Double-click it to open it in TextEdit
-- Locate the CFBundleVersion value (the last line in the file that has numbers in it) and increment the second digit of it to the required version of Safari e.g. Safari 6 now seems to be the minimum version that Google support so change the second number from 5 to 6 (don't change anything else, only the change the second number). The value is different depending on your OS X version but as an example, for Snow Leopard 6534.59.10 becomes 6634.59.10
-- Drag the file back from the desktop to its original location, choose the option to replace the old version, and enter your password when prompted.
-- Run a permissions repair in Disk Utility to set the permissions in the file back to what they should be (not required, but good practice).
-- Launch Safari and test Gmail.

You can't avoid that if the website is coded that way and data needs to be send from one server to another server.
